Well yes that too. Takes at least three to be a proper Maester, then you need at least three more for Animal Cohort, the dreaming thing, and the actual skin-wearing, one more if you want to expand beyond your one animal.

So yeah that might be a bit much. I'll focus on the Maester first I think, then look at other stuff lol.

That is why I inquired about us training and such to gain things to shore up our characters.

Liberty's Edge

I'll think about it. I'm very interested in cleaving to the flavor of the world, which doesn't have too many highly multi-talented people in it. As far as gaining more skill and qualities, I wouldn't worry too much. You won't be super powered right out of the gate, or perhaps ever, but given time you can match and even surpass the pinnacles of the series.

Sounds GUD.

...HUNTER.....POOOOOOOOOOOSSSSSSTTTTT...

Grand Lodge

I am fine with that. I want to at least get to Bronn status :p

Lantern Lodge

I have a couple thoughts, but I'm going to wait on house creation. Neck or North are cool with me. I don't have any "hate it" locations.

Location, location, location.

I'm totally cool with the random method for everything honestly. Restrictions birth novelty and creativity after all.

Liberty's Edge

Yeah, though I might alter the rolling method to choose between places i'm actually interested in running the game. Like: no iron islanda, no dragonstone, no king's landing, and no dorne. So basically the cardinal directions, the riverlands, and the stormlands. So maybe a d6?

What's the normal roll? 3d6 isn't it? Maybe cut out the results you don't want and reassign numbers for a good 2d6 setup? Slightly more random than just one die, which I think was part of the point of the original setup. That and tilting the numbers to match the kingdoms that had more land.

Lantern Lodge

Haven't gotten to that part of the reading yet. Random location. Heck yeah, let's see where that goes! No issues for me on the ones you want to exclude.

Yeah the entirety of house generation is random by default, including location. The book does allow for you picking whatever elements you want, but I really think the random method would be part of the fun, y'know? It cements the setting as a proper element, like...you don't have any control over where you came from, or what happened in the past, but you can control the future to an extent, if you're careful. Fits the world.

Liberty's Edge

Yeah...i just don't like dragonstone and dorne mostly. Well, i'm gonna give hunter until friday, and then it'll be onto the next alternate.

I kinda want to move onto house creation, but each player is gonna get to roll a base stat for the house, as well as their own add-on, so I sorta want to wait at the same time.

Give him however long you feel like, then pick someone else and start generating things, put player six down on the list so we have time to let them notice, and post, and roll, etc. But the rest of us can get on with it, hopefully.

I was thinking for the training as 1XP for a Month to be put anywhere. That should get us close to the XP increase between the Age Categories.

Isn't the point of the divide in the age categories that the younger characters can adjust things on the fly with Destiny and the older characters have to rely on what they've got and go with the flow?

Not familiar with the game really, but that's my interpretation of it. And uh...knowing Wandslinger like I do, altering the normal flow of XP gain is not something he does in a game he hasn't played much.

Actually:

Gold is the most common reward.
XP is the second most common.
DP(Destiny Points) are the least common.

Liberty's Edge

I'll review the rules, and make my decision before we start character creation.

Lantern Lodge

Any word from our final member?

Grand Lodge

If I could get some pointers on character creation it'd be appreciated.. These new rules are kind of daunting

I imagine we'll hit it together once we've established the house and have more defined parameters for available options.

Lantern Lodge

I'm there with ya Crom. It will be new to me too, but I agree that once we go through the house, I think it will be even easier to bring the character concept together.

Exactly. And I am suddenly leery to roll as my luck has seemed to drop off...

Lantern Lodge

Hey, you never know when it might come back and poor rolls generate a history and challenge all their own :)

Huh... I seems to be spotty... Sort of like my cell service.

Liberty's Edge

Well, The Hunter missed his chance. Spazmodeus will be joining us hopefully.

I've created the Discussion thread because I'm tired of waiting! I'll be rolling house region in a moment, let's hope I don't roll Dragonstone!

Hey guys, reporting for duty!

Well...you could always call kibosh, being the GM, and re-roll until you have a region that isn't Dragonstone or Dorne...

You win this round spazmodeus. *shifty glancing* but I'll still be lurking on this thread. Watching... waiting...
Also I'm super interested to see how this system plays, so I'll be keeping tabs on it in a much less sinister and creepy way then I made it sound.

I am planning on learning the system then planning one of my own.

If you do run your own game, send me a pm.

Will do. Though it will be kind of a alternate story of the Books story.

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Lost Omens, Rulebook Subscriber

I will likely be picking up a copy of the rules Monday when I hit my FLGS for my bi-weekly Pathfinder game. Due to external factors I'm thinking some manner of Brienne the beauty/Arya Stark type unconscious feminist character, is that likely to be a problem Wandslinger?

Fine by me. Since I first found this thread I rolled up three characters (who, by a strange coincidence that had nothing to do with a lack of creativity, are siblings) that can be dropped into just about any story. Funny enough, the first character I made was a bastard sword swinger like yours and croms. Great minds think alike it seems.

I'm still trying to figure out if Weapon Savant allows me to negate the -2D Penalty to wield a Greatsword in One-Hand.

Liberty's Edge

Azaelas, Irnk, move questions like these to discussion. Your answers will be there.

Sorry...

Liberty's Edge

No apology necessary, sorry if I was harsh.

Truth be told I thought I was in the OOC Thread.
