Wandering the Wasted North Gameplay Thread

Game Master That GM Guy!

EVERYONE READ THIS INFORMATION!

Ability Scores: Ability scores will be purchased using a 15 point buy, with the popular 1-1 purchase method, which is to say: all scores start at 10, before racial modifiers, and each point you put into an ability score raises it by a single point. You may, if you so desire, take up to 2 points from an ability score, gaining a similar number of points.

Knowledge: Arcana is replaced with Knowledge: Technology.

Knowledge: The Planes is replaced with Knowledge: Science

Use Magic Device is replaced with Electronics, which allows you to hack computers, disable bombs, and similar things that involve electronics.

All guns, save the most exotic ones, are considered martial weapons.

Having just had a character accepted into another campaign I was hoping to get into, and knowing that this one is likely to be more fast-paced, I'll be withdrawing from the recruitment for this one, because I don't think I could do justice to it given my non-gaming commitments on top of my other games, and it feels a bit selfish when other people might be looking for games and I have enough. Have fun, everyone!

weeeee....

GM-WW

How about this, a Phrenic Templated Apollo dog but we will call it Cyberdog Belgian Malinois? Then add any extra additions due to perks like animal companion or whatever you had in mind?

lol what

ok my character is already formatting just takes a bit ^_^

edit

@GM WW
so i just realized that i made a mistake with my character and i only have one attack mode right now. For fluff reasons i thought it would be cool if i had a normal robotic hand and it turned into a arm cannon when i want it to what do you think. Just to go with my Nanites turned it that way. I would sill be using the nanites to describe my powers is in the nanites cover me to when i use the Chameleon power.

Oh and out of curiosity how many race points was the Simian race when you made it?

waiting on GM to say if we have a full table :)

@GM WW Okay I found the perfect Gestalt, but it's 3rd party. Can you approve the Moonshiner archetype?
Notes about Moonshiner:
-Rage-like ability
-buffs and defuffs using alcohol
-Ability to vomit on people

@Qunessaa Thanks, good luck!

I think we have more than enough for 1 table I don't know about a second...a good number of us want table 1 but I think we are all good with either table. man I have just restarted my FO:NV game..hard core and very hard , with wild waste land. the powder gangers are kicking my butt.

Seconding Riuk. I'd prefer table 1, but I'll play wherever the GM thinks he needs me. Just a matter of changing favored terrain.

I'm sorry for my inability to produce a character within the allotted time, I had a lot more thrown on my plate these last two weeks than expected.

I will be posting a character as soon as he is finished (Honestly, I was going for a lone-survivor type Android-Ranger Who was accidentally awoken from Cheyenne Mountain Airforce Base in Colorado, and stumbled his way north), for any potential future openings, If that's ok wit the GM.

and for anyone not to hyped about FO 4 I just saw the E3 press and crap now I have to get the collector's edition come out November!!!

Silver Crusade

GM any one seen the GM?? hhehe

Jade - if you have a few pennies spare, you may wish to go double Investigator.

Rogue Genius Games also have an Investigator that would probably compliment your current class pretty well.

That's a good idea, too. Thanks! I'll poke the GM and see what he thinks / what I can get away with.

The E3 Videos on FO4 are awesome! I am already lovin' the game and I can tell Bethesda has been monitoring the Nexus listening to its gamer fanbase. I can't wait to see modders push the envelope further and the new GECK, hoping it is more user friendly than the last.

In the F*** Up S*** video, the best cut was when the Death Claw lifts the protagonist (you) into the air, he extends his claw blades, and then all you see is the inevitable, then it goes to the next cut scene but we all know what happens. After all, it's a Death Claw.

I am definitely getting the Collector's Edition as well!

Oh wow, the collector's edition is called the Fallout 4 Pip-Boy Edition

Man if that works with the game, that would be epic. I mean it is good without game interaction but it would priceless if it did. However, the bad news would be maybe mod support unless it will support mods too?

It's one of the things the PDF lists as good with the setting, so you should be golden. I haven't got that one myself, but RGG is usually top-notch stuff.

As for Fallout 4...I'm debating between the Collector's Edition, which is GAME exclusive in the UK, or the regular version. There's no way the PipBoy will actually fit on me - I am Stupid Level Big, well over 6 ft tall and 300+lbs - and the difference in price this side of the pond is £55. That's $85 for you American folk. I can afford the Collector's Edition quite merrily - hell, I have more on my Bonus Card from work - but it's still a big price difference.

I usually do not get the collector's edition and Bethesda usually does not either but with the Pip-Boy, I am all for it.

i have only got two collectors edition in the passed 12 years and that ws halo 2, and the legendary edition of halo reach just cause i wanted the statue. With this one i want it since i can't get the thought of how cool it will be to be playing the game with that on my arm ^_^. Oh and if the app that is coming out with the game can mach up with the real time game play even better. Think about not pausing the game just looking at your pip-boy to mess with your gear and check the map, i hope they do it that way. Even of they dont just awesome for cosplay ^_^

Well, from what I understand, it's meant to take a smart phone (which I don't have) which runs an app. And the app is obviously available to all smart phones. So...you should be able to do a lot even without the PipBoy.

Jon, fanbois are illogical ... LOL

You probably can do all of the features without but it is not the same.

As a Boston resident, I am incredibly excited for Fallout 4.

I love Boston, go red socks

So we have a missing GM.

i'm sure he is just typing up the perks

Silver Crusade

helloo GM where could that pesky GM be,??

Jonny...Panic wrote:

I don't know. But he's only been "gone" for a couple of days. No need to panic yet. :-)

well he did say he was going to give everyone a few days to complete their characters and his last post with his main profile was Saturday so I think its all good ^_^

>>>Fingers Crossed<<< I do hope he post soon I have already had 1 Gm lost since they got in a bad car wreak only to come back a few months later and then disappear again...I got into the gestalt Wrath of the Righteous but that GM has not posted anything since Saturday, I do hope he's ok as well as that GM guy to...

Right Ruik?

It seems like anything I've been interested in as a player has started crippled, or just died all together.

I'm currently in one Pbp that's been going for over a year. But that's the exception. In the vast majority of cases the GM simply disappears without a trace or comment. Hopefully that will not be the case here.

Silver Crusade

O GM, GM, wherefore art thou GM?

...Jonny did you do something to the GM, your acting a bit too innocent...

? I haven't been having that problem.

Silver Crusade

Ok Im calling this, We have a "GM run away" now it could be they have RL problems but this is the 3ed RECRUITMENT thread I have had this happen to me.

This GM alt only posted some 40 times with three alts, Sat was its last post here. Yet again another calling to arms and run away GM alt. Seems trolling the RECRUITMENT like this has become a new sport.

I will not be checking this anymore, if the GM comes back, someone please PM me.

From now on check I suggest checking RECRUITMENT GMs if they have a long record then apply if not their trolling.

It's only been a few days, lets not...Panic. YYEAAAAAAHHH.gif.

Okay but in all seriousness if GM WW peaced out then I'll GM for this game. Everyone worked really hard and it looks like we've got some really loyal posters.

-Same characters/races/classes
-No new 'perks'
-Standard starting wealth to outfit yourself
-Additional badass starting weapon/item
-Game will take place in San Francisco, but will be open world
-Altered story, still post-apocolytic
-Still very dangerous
-Plot hook: You've been recruited by a drug dealer (yours truly) as hired muscle for a high profile deal.

Let me know if you'd be interested, or if you have requests!

Let's wait until Friday for GM WW, then I'll start a new closed recruitment thread if enough players are interested.

Silver Crusade

Im in if your happy to :)

I could do that.

Ok everyone, sorry about that wait! I had to make a trip to the ER a few days ago due to feeling very odd and such. I initially thought it was something very serious, but apparently, due to my sleep schedule, the doctors have said that I have developed panic attacks. Mine was severe enough where it shot my blood pressure up to 178/105 and my heart rate up to 107. After being put through a few tests, they told me that it was panic attacks. I am fine now though and have some medication for it, Lorazepam I believe is the name.

I will make selections in a day or so, while everyone finishes up their characters.

To answer everyone's questions:

Getting the Fallout 4 Pipboy Edition, as it is just plain awesome and would make for some great cosplay! And yes, men cosplay too. :P

Gestalt and a modified E6 are the rules we are using!

For the second table, I have a few ideas about what to do with it. One is that the PCs start in a Judge Dredd-esque Mega City, probably in California, that has been isolated from the Wastes for centuries, only to have disaster strike. Another idea is one based on Mutant: Zero Year's setting and have a campaign that is at once grim, gritty, and gonzo all at once, set in ruined New York City where radioactive rain still falls to sear unprotected flesh, mutations are rampant, and the few bastions of civilizations left, repurposed buildings called Arks by the citizens, are plagued by infighting. Another is a post-apocalyptic campaign set in New Orleans, which would lean on the gonzo side with Ghoul Bokors, mutated crocodile-men savages living in the swamps, and possibly Greys who have come to collect some samples. Another is a classic wastelands game set in Nevada, but with several twists and a Fallout: New Vegas feel, with some Wild Wasteland moments. These are just a few of the ideas for the second table.

The Perk list is going to be available in 1-2 days. Does everyone have access to Google Drive? If not, I can e-mail you both the document on Perks and the spreadsheet on new weapons and armor. Just PM me and let me know if you are going with the latter option.

Vanessa, that will work with the dog! "BEHOLD, MY PSYCHIC BRAIN DOG... OF DOOM!"

Mortem, that is fine on the arm cannon.

TheRiverOcean, I am perfectly fine with the Moonshiner. The Broken Earth Player's Guide has a Alchemist archetype that, if I recall, deals with narcotics and superdrugs.

Phoenix Hunter, no worries! I've had to deal with the whole ER scare the past few days, so I know how it is. Are you wanting the Android or the Synth?

Jade, the RGG Investigator is approved for PC use, as are the rest of the Anachronistic Adventurer lines from from RGG.

Here's something else to get everyone in the mood for a post-apocalypse game!

Silver Crusade

Good to know your ok GM, and good to see you back, I tHave to ask, you ok to do this, I ask as it's always better to get well then start on something like running two tables.

Like I said, it's just panic attacks and I have some medication for them now. The first two days were rough, but I'm fine now. Sorry to hear about the GMs bailing on you, by the way. I'm not a bailer, though most weeks I will miss a random day when my girlfriend just decides she wants to do something.

Unless it is extraordinary circumstances, such as the whole ER thing, I will inform everyone of my absences. Since the ER did not allow cell phones to be on and I slept a lot on that Lorazepam when I first got it, I didn't post.

Glad to hear that you're good to go. Look forward to playing the game.

real happy to hear that your better, my character is all ready you have not posted about equipment or perks yet but other than that I'm good to go

Thanks for the update! I never lost faith ;)

man I hate this I can't stop watching the fallout4 videos....help me

Riuk, watch the short video I linked two posts back. That video was made solely for a pen and paper game! It may get you looking at the grimmer side of the apocalypse, but hey, nobody said the world ending was fun and games!

Thoughts on the second table, those who are interested? I also have a book that details post-apocalyptic California, with a focus on San Francisco.

Don't have to ask me twice for that one ;) Hella down for table two if thats the case =)
