Nate nods at Astaria and slips in with her, holstering his Desert Eagle and drawing his EDC knife.


Female Human Adventurer

Whispering to Nate, "Do you want to take these guys alive or just kill'em?"


Male Human

John whispers "Or we could just let them walk on by if they don't notice us! Jeez, you ARE as trigger-happy as Faith!"


Female Human Adventurer

"Ok, we'll do it your way and let them pass, but I don't like leaving an enemy behind me, blocking our escape route in case we need a quick get away"

Nate shrugs and whispers a reply. "People blocking our exit later, tied-up guys to escape and sound the alarm, dead bodies to be discovered. Not sure I see a clear winner or loser."


You hear footsteps and voices approach, then fade away.

Before you have a chance to open the door again, you hear behind you in the darkness, "Umph!"


Female Human Adventurer

Spinning around and drawing second pistol.
Astaria whispers firmly "Who's there!!?


You both hear a tiny metallic "clink" as Astaria drops her charm to draw her second pistol.

"Mmphp mmMMa!"

Astoria put the charm in her pocket; check Friday posts.

Nate pulls out his flashlight, covers most of the front with one hand, and turns it on.

We should get a diffuse glow from that.

Ok, "nevermiiiiind" - last I remembered she had it in her hand...

You see a young woman tied to a metal chair, with a gag in her mouth. She has several bruises and cuts on her face and bare arms.

"Kinky," Nate dryly opines. "You two want to indulge in girl talk while I keep a listen at the door? But keep it down."

As indicated, Nate goes back to listening at the door.

Female Human Adventurer

Putting away both pistols, going over to the girl and taking the gag out of her mouth.

"So what is you story pumpkin?"


The young woman, probably in her early 20's, says in an urgent whisper full of fear "Oh thank god you're here! I think they're going to kill me! Please please please can you get me out of here??? Untie me, quick!"


Female Human Adventurer

"It's ok girl. Slow down. Let's start with your name and how you got here. Then tell us about who is gonna kill you and why. Then I'll untie you."

"Check her pockets for red rubber noses first. She could be an undercover killer clown."

Female Human Adventurer

"Are suggesting we just cut her loose? Fine."
Pulling out her knife, she cuts the bonds holding the prisoner.

"What? No!" Nate responds as emphatically as he can while keeping his voice down. "I'm serious! This whole finding her where we're hiding thing is suspicious. She might be in 'un'-disguise!" He gives Astaria a concerned look. "I've had... bad luck with clowns. You weren't around for that but trust me: You don't turn your back on them, and if anything seems out of the ordinary, suspect clowns!"

If it wasn't clear before, it is now: Nate is dead serious.

I'd like to get that out and stop Astaria before she can cut the girl loose, if possible.


Female Human Adventurer

Astaria pauses before cutting the girl loose. "Just checking... she chuckles..., was wondering aabout you. Your a strange bird, must be the military training."


Female Human Adventurer

Checking her pockets and any possible hiding places i.e. socks, waistline etc.

Nate chuckles in response. "Stick with us, kid. We'll show you strange. Ask me about graboids sometime. She clean?"


Male Human

John snorts in disgust (a disgusting sound in itself) at Nate's suggestions that the girl could be a clown.


In the dim light, the girl's face shows bewilderment, and she mutters to herself "Great, I'm being rescued by a bunch of crazies".

"Look, my name is Karen Hale, I've been a secretary here since they opened, and for some reason I don't know, a couple of goons came in to my boss' office just before quitting time, knocked me out, and I woke up here. I don't know where "here" is, but I tried screaming for a while and it didn't help. Now *please* can we get out of here?"

Nate gives the woman a stern glance over his shoulder. "Look here missy, we can tie you right back up and gag you again if we're too 'crazy' for your tastes. And if you'd seen the stuff we've seen," he adds, jerking his head at John, "you'd doubt your own sanity before ours."

"Now keep it down," he hisses before returning his attention to listening at the door.

"I think the 3 of us can handle one little girl."

Taking the knife and leaning over to cut the bonds, Astaria glances at Nate waiting for a nod of approval. (assuming she gets one). Astaria will free the girl.

Male Human

Hey, that was "muttered" - you need a Notice at -2 to be offended! :)
And, she was whispering too during her speech, not making a lot of sound.

John whispers to himself, "Wait a minute..." and goes over to the door. Very gently he tries the handle on the door, and says "Locked! Just now figured as much! Why else would they put a prisoner unguarded in a room that isn't locked from the outside! Give me a minute here..." and he pulls out some small tools.

Lockpicking & Wild: 1d6 ⇒ 11d6 ⇒ 5 = 5, Success

With a mock flourish of his arm, he waves to the door as if to say, "Ready to go, m'ladies".


Female Human Adventurer

Results of search please... although I expect nothing.
Cutting Karen's bonds. Stepping back and drawing one pistol and aiming it at her. Reaching into pocket to grab notice device. Waiting...

"Ok then, onward. You gents ready? Nate, the door please."

Nate nods, does one last sound check at the door then cracks it open to check the hallway, with the intention of pulling it open if the coast is clear.


Female Human Adventurer

'You want to take point or me cause I have heightened senses when I hold this object?"


Male Human

"If you go first, just err on the side of caution if you hear someone coming. This is a snatch-and-run job, not an all-out assault."


The girl looks confused, and scared. "Wait - you're not *leaving*?!?! Let's go while the getting is good! These guys down here are *mean* - they beat me up for no reason at all!"

"Oh, there's a reason, missy," Nate growls as he stares into the darkness. "You just don't know what it is. Alright Astaria, stay with knives and fists for the sake of stealth, or switch back to firearms?"


Female Human Adventurer

Slipping a silencer out of her pocket she attaches it to her pistol.
"How's this for stealth?"
With pistol in right hand and bauble in left Astaria starts quietly down the hall way.

"Works for me," Nate mutters as he stows his survival knife and switches back to his Desert Eagle, then falls in with the others.


Female Human Adventurer

Causiously, proceeding down the hallway. Paying attention to everything she can.

Remind me again what our mission is.


Proof that this company is a front for some kind of other-human organization, and/or evidence that there's a mole in PATRIOT (and who it is).


What do we see headed down the hall way?


Male Human

Yes, it took me THIS long to notice it...
"OH MY GOD! WHERE DID THAT ORC COME FROM?!?! KILL IT! KILL IT!!!

You continue sneaking down the corridors, running into no more guards yet. Too many doors to look behind them all.

At some point when she's sure no one else is around, Karen finally asks in a quiet whisper, "What ARE you all looking for? Are you thieves? Industrial espionage? What???"

"Well answer her Nate your the tactical leader of this expedition"

Nate gives Astaria a withering look while answering Karen. "Need to know, lady. And all you need to know is, we're the good guys. Now would you girlies please keep it down!"


Undaunted by the curt answers, Karen perseveres "Well, I *need* to know! Why are 'good guys' breaking in from the sewers? I'm thinking maybe I'd be better off on my own."

"No you don't and the exit's that way," Nate says distractedly, pointing back the direction they came as he keeps his attention forward.

I'm confused by the "too many doors to look behind them all" comment. If we were trying to get to a specific location I could see it. But we don't know where we're going, do we? Aren't we looking for evidence? Shouldn't we be checking every room we come to?
