Game Master Tobaris

Are they bad guys? Or do they just have really bad publicity?

5th level for everybody. Player health and animal companions are max at 1st level, after that you lock into either average or roll for HP every level.

So we roll and get at least average or choose either or?

I am loving the character concepts. It's going to be hard to decide on the final party. As soon as Huluk decides your starting city that should give you all more to work with.

I will make the final decision next Tuesday for all the players. The more you work to collaborate and build backstory and character connection the stronger your bid to get in will be.

Going to go average for myself and animal companion.

EDIT: Wait are you restricting alignment or no? If not then I may have something else in mind.

You pick one at creation either rolls or average and you stick with that through the game.

Alrighty.. Im choosing average as well.. Any idea what level this will go to?

I will run this until we feel the characters are ready to be retired, We finish the mystery behind the visions, or when everbody dies. So it could go to 20th level.

Dotting. I see to many weird characters. Plan to making a good-aligned one.

Just noticed that any alignment is okay as long as we are wiling to work with a group, so what would you think about the Crimson Assassin Prestige class?

It's legal in my game

Rogue time it is.

Looks like a few sneaky/backstabby types gonna show there faces..

Wanna work together WerePox? Every sneaky type needs a flanking buddy.

My character wont be a sneaky/backstabby guy... He will be the town drunk looking for ways to get money to drink more. Also he is drunk when fighting and knows a lot of styles to hand to hand combat.

Finnigin is good! He is ready to save the princess, and kill the kingdom, and rescue the bad guys!

He looks distracted.

No, that is wrong. Rescue the princess, kill the... Bad Guys, and save the kingdom!!!!!

He counts on each of these on his fingers as if he is reciting it.

I figure Finnigin would be in the wrong place at the wrong time and is just excited to be working with people.

wow thread blew up while making Krixus. Would love to work on backstory with some others. Maybe a team of assassins. I can't negotiate for price though, we need a Face.

Taking my chances rolling

HP: 3d8 ⇒ (5, 6, 8) = 19

Yeah 4 above average :)

I forgot how much gold do we get? Standard level 5 or was there a post about it earlier?

Standard level 5 however you are level 4 characters so be aware.

Also if we don't hear back from Huluk on the city in an hour I will put it up to a short vote, let's say one hour to chip in.

Okay well I'm going to change a few things on my character sheet then. As for the gold thanks!

Alrighty, so I have been wanting to play my tiefling fighter for a bit now and this seems like the perfect opportunity to do so. I was wondering, Since i will be taking Fiendish Heritage at 1st lvl, do you want me to roll the heritage, ability and physical randomization (i love randomness) here or should i just PM it to you Mr. Tobaris? And on that note, crunchy crunchy.

2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 2) + 6 = 12
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 6) + 6 = 16
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 1) + 6 = 11
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 6) + 6 = 16
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 6) + 6 = 13
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 3) + 6 = 10

And in place of the ten?!
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 1) + 6 = 12

Liberty's Edge

Assuming my sorcerer makes it, he has pretty high charisma and I'll take diplomacy. Although, not a class skill.

There should be traits right?

Yes there are traits read the first post please. Also you may do either with the tiefling.

Reminder guys fluff is more important than crunch right now, I care more about a good character than good builds.

There is Ease of Faith, though you are a sorc, so that may not fit. If you chose this if you are an elf. There is a reagional traits you may wanna look into. Halflings have 2 that I saw. A few more if you look hard enough, but yagh. Its worth a check. :D

Ah apologies Mr. TheBait I misunderstood.

I have the background mostly made already. If you like I can polish it up and send it to ya. I wanted to tailor it to the setting though so I was honestly waiting to see where the starting city would be. I am not the best at remembering much about the world so I usually try to do some studying on the city my char will be playing in and such, or at least some fruitful back story of a place near by.

I personally kinda enjoy the crunch because I use it to flavor my char. I like explaining how he got all his traits, how his physical features look due to his stats. etc. etc. I have been told I tend to work backwards by all my GMs because I use the Specs to drive a concept rather than the other way around. I look at what I want to play, then make a story for him/her after the fact. And now I am ranting. LoL, sorry. Okay, time for sleep.

Well I'm going to put it up to a vote now.
Would you guys like to start in:
1) Korvosa[In Varisia]
2) Corentin[In Cheliax]
3) Vigil[Near Lastwall]
4) Cassomir[In Taldor]

So what are the restrictions on the background? What did we do to be known as villains? Also, anybody want to partner up with me for back story? (Void Dragon)

Grand Lodge

n 4

well since Tuesday is the deadline i work on my character during the weekend.

Liberty's Edge

Yeah, I haven't had a chance to really look into the mechanics yet. Just kinda decided on a meticulous little gnome (was thinking of 1 drawback) and as a younger sorcerer he loved fire, but after burning down part of the city, he's refrained from casting fire, going with electricity more. I wasn't sure if I could go with Oblivious too, since he's constantly talking to himself and walking through plans, everyone realizes he'd walk off a cliff if they didn't help him out, or he might forget to eat too.

I vote for 4.

Since we're looking for trouble I would vote for Vigil (3), as it is a "mighty fortress that draws warriors of good like a beacon".

No real restrictions on background so long as it makes sense given the story. I'm thinking something along the lines of; a mutating infection caused by Lamashtu was hitting the city and you found out about it because of the visions. In the process you saving the city from the infection you had to burn part of it down. Some influential people died and their families blamed you smearing your name and making you look like psychos to the city.
I can give more detail as soon as we finish voting on a hometown.

Vote: 4

It seems the general consensus is 4. I kinda like that. I jus need a good reason to be there. But it DOES make sense why they would have a tiefling if for no other reason than to hate him.

Fiendish Heritage.

Heritage: 1d10 ⇒ 3 Demodand

Feat allows me to roll 3 times and pick the ability I like most.
Ability 1: 1d100 ⇒ 92 See Creatures in the Ethereal Plane
Ability 2: 1d100 ⇒ 25 Acid Resist 5
Ability 3: 1d100 ⇒ 10 Bite 1d4 damage

AAAAND! The physical trait. (please no slimy skin)
Physical Trait: 1d100 ⇒ 99 Roll Twice

Physical Trait: 1d100 ⇒ 18 Pig-like Ears
Physical Trait: 1d100 ⇒ 100 Ignore
Physical Trait: 1d100 ⇒ 4 Tentacle-like Arms

Well then. So. The final verdict is!
Demodand (+2 Con and Wis, -2 Int)
Ability 1 (See creatures in the Ethereal Plane)
Physical Traits (Tentacle-like Arms and Pig-like Ears)

This should make for an interesting char background. I think I am gonna change alot of it around now. :D

Here's my backstory so far, but still need to change some things based off of the vote (and if anybody wants work together).

Background:

Cilian grew up in the town of <insert name here>. His parents Donna and Doran were happy to finally have a boy for their family. Cilian grew up with both of them saying that he would be a great cleric someday. It was on Cilian's 5th birthday that his parent's desire was actually revealed. Doran, and Donna had sold their child into slavery to afford a lavish lifestyle. They had to keep him until 5, but it was no big deal for them to just lie to the child's face and make him think he was going to be great one day. When the slavers carried the boy out of his home kicking and screaming the last thing he saw was his parents being handed a large sack of gold. Finally one of the slavers got tired of the loud child and bashed him across the head with a sap. Knocking Cilian out instantly.

Cilian woke up in a dingy and foul cellar. There he saw a man cloaked in shadows who beckoned the child forward. He introduced himself as the second in command of a small outfit of thieves and killers who murdered as often as the stole. The man wanted to have Cilian so that he could train him to be his perfect tool. He made it abundantly clear that Cilian would either follow his orders, or die. Cilian seeing no other option agreed and was swiftly taken to the training facility of the group. In this new setting Cilian found himself thriving. Not only was his strength and speed amazing to the other children, but he picked up on almost anything taught to him without any problems whatsoever. They hated him for his cruelty though. Cilian found that not only was he better rewarded if he shamed his opponents, but that if he imagined they were his parents he felt elation. It was for 10 years that Cilian was trained before he was considered ready for his first job.

Cilian's first job with the outfit was to assassinate an old man who hadn't paid his dues in a while. Cillian was able to track the man to his house and found that the man had three starving children with him. The old man begged and pleaded with Cilian to spare him for the children, but Cilian had a job to do. Afterwards, Cilian took the children back to the hideout and had three new apprentices for the group. He was rewarded not only for completing the job, but also for bringing in new blood. Cilian's master congratulated him and told him that they were going to move up in the world. Cilian's master had discovered the identity of the groups leader, and wanted to strike him down immediately. Cilian asked for a day and was given it. The first thing Cilian did was go to the master and tell him of his underlings treachery. When the second-in-command arrived he found that the master had quite a few tricks up his sleeve. As Cilian's master lay dead on the ground the group's leader asked Cilian to take the place of his former master and Cilian agreed. Both of them began plotting against each other, but were interrupted when an oracle began to preach about some sickness.

It was only a year ago that Cilian met that crazy oracle. He didn't believe the <insert gender of oracle here> at first, but when the signs got worse Cilian had to concede that they had been telling the truth. Cilian worked with the group for the subtler of things. He killed those infected without much difficulty, and even managed to keep a few under wraps. Of course Cilian was betrayed once again by his parents.

Cilian's last job with the group was destroying the madman who had started this mess. He went along with the others, and made sure that they weren't seen. The only people besides the group who knew where Cilian had gone that night was his parents. They had approached him looking for sanctuary, and Cilian had agreed as long as they kept quiet. When Cilian told them where he was going they nodded and didn't say a word until he left. After he was gone they went to the nearest constable and sold their son out once again to get even more gold. When Cilian returned hefound his hut under constant surveillance. Using the tricks of the trade Cillian go into his house unobserved and got the best of his equipment. After he had gotten that he left without any gold to find his parents. When he discovered the pair drinking and artying the night away Cilian lost his cool and rushed both of them, and killed them. He took up their gold and now looks to meet up with the others hoping that maybe they haven't been found out yet.

I'm going to go with Cassomir since that built the strongest vote. You had to burn down Admirals Fen and a small portion on the Navy Docks.

Liberty's Edge

This is my first time using Drawbacks. They don't allow you to double up a trait type, correct? For example, you can't suddenly have 2 magic traits.

As long as they are two different magic traits it's fine.

Anything against a summoner and a Undead Eidolon?

Perhaps There was a dragon we had to coax into attacking the city so that we could purge the infection from it. Who wants to be a part of the group that had to piss off the dragon with me?

treno PM :)

Kyomi is in town working, as a Grifter [con artist] she will be looking for her next "marc" she knows a lot of sneaky types from when she runs with a crew.

Vote 4, nice rich city yummy

Liberty's Edge

I think I am going to have to bow out. Basically the little gnome I was thinking about wasn't fitting into the sorcerer mold and I am already playing a campaign with a wizard, so I think I need to look at a campaign for a paladin (divine hunter) or ranger.

Thanks.

Alright Good luck to you and thanks for your interest.

Sounds cool

I'll probably keep an eye on the game, it's a very interesting concept. Just not a great fit for me, right now.
