Finnigin always wanted to be a great hero. His parents told him stories of warriors taking on entire armies and slaying dragons. He wanted to rescue the princess and save the kingdom too. Unline the stories, he was only 3 feet tall and weighed a whopping 32 pounds. He was not the stuff legends were made of.
When he grew up he trained with a wooden sword and joined the city guard first chance he got. He tried his best to get through training, and put in extra effort outside of training to get through it. He was only hired because of his test scores, and they never put him in the field. So all he got to do was sit and guard books, or artifacts. A boring life for a would be hero.

So he decided to set out on his own, and he headed for the Mana Wastes. Sounds like a place for things whose butts need a good kicking he thought to himself. When he arrived he got to his first town and tried to find a party of adventurers who would take him along. No one wanted him, and he was really let down. So he decided to try his luck on his own. Famous last words if ever there were some.

He found a cave that he thought had long been abandoned by kobolds. So he entered only to find something much worse. In the back of the cave there was an elite wizard battling a Gargantuan dragon. This is my chance he thought. He rushed in and tried to stab at the dragon, his sword could not even penetrate the things skin. The wizard was upset about seeing someone trying to take his kill, and lost his concentration. The dragon locked them both up after defeating them, fully intent on eating them once he got back from burning the nearest village.

Luckily, Finnigin was small enough to get out of the cage and retrieve his sword. The wizard took it from him, and cast a spell on it that made it cut open the bars. They fled the cave, and the wizard took him under his wing. The wizards name was Sterlin, and he tried to teach Finnigin about the arts of Transmutation.

"If you can turn em into a frog, they will be less scary. Of course if you can't, you might just get eaten. Let's just assume you can."

From that day on Finnigin was aspiring to be a wizard, but he still favors his sword. Hopefully he will be able to rescue that princess, and save that kingdom. Until then, he is just a small hero with a big heart.
