Sir Garith Mordrand |
Oh Variel, you give me the nicest presents! Do I have any bonds to start? Or no, since Garith is so green?
Would I be able to retrain skill points during the week with the soldiers and can I maybe tweek my skill points from my levels to get some ranks in profession soldier? Kinda want to get 5 ranks for a boon for the coming fight...
DM Variel |
no bonds as you are a rookie general. Once you get some experience I will think about it.
Just some ideas I was floating around in my head...
Garith: Overall army commander
Zeriax: In charge of the scouts
Reiko: In charge of the horses (has 1 rank in ride and animal handling)
Maelchar: In charge of armor and weapons
Samantha: In charge of overall army health and morale
Pakak: Logistics and supplies (has the highest int)
Sir Garith Mordrand |
Can I at least trade a rank or two to soldier so I can snag my 5th rank next level? I only get 3 ranks a level, and need 5 for me defensive tactics boon.
I'm running around and posting from my phone today, and am thinking how garith would step up. He'd feed accept if nominated or something, with Terry to pay this afternoon whatever happens
Sir Garith Mordrand |
I'll speak up once I get home
Reiko can also head a unit, or a foreword unit that breaks enemy formations or something. If others want to manage units rather than jobs. Either way. I do have one more question I think
DM Variel |
Reiko, you may think it is the least glamorous but is probably one of the most necessary as without them the army will be sitting ducks. I took a look at skills and saw that you hade both which fit the bill perfectly. No slight intended at all. If you have another idea though please let me know as those were just suggestions.
EDIT *** Perhaps instead you could be in charge of the army's own defensive systems to capture scouts and spies?
Maelchar |
shouldn't we have horses too, so as not to slow down the march? Just sayin'... Maybe we should ask her if she has a few spares.
Zeriax |
So I'd suggest we go with Garith as Captain of the Company (100 men)
If Pakak doesn't want to lead a Platoon then he should be a dotted line advisor to Garith with a title of Adjutant or something like that.
For the rest of us, including Garith (wearing his second hat), we could each command a Platoon of 20 men and rank as Lieutenants.
Each of our Platoons could be divided up into 2 Squads of 10 men each - 1 leader and 9 soldiers. Each Squad could be lead by a Sergeant who is a senior warrior.
I like this idea Reiko.
Nah, I'm fine with being the Master of Horse. I get that we have to stay mobile in this kind of operation that means cavalry is king. Reiko will take the job.
Nonononono, I disagree - was kinda hoping Reiko and Zeriax could team up on a scouting/sniper/covert strike team :D
And... We should just change the name of the army... Because we can ;)
DM Variel |
Dnt worry Pakak it won't be that bad. It does give me someone to talk to though if you are running out of supplies or give an estimate on how long your supplies will last.
Reiko and Zeriax you can definitely do the spy counter spy duo. These is more i can do RP with that anyways but it is up to Reiko.
Reiko Mura |
I'm happy to play scout/sniper-assassin with Zeriax. He's got me beat on Perception and I've got the edge on Stealth... so we could have some fun. After all, I didn't take levels in rogue to NOT backstab demon scouts. :D
Also, I don't know if Master of Horse is a full-time job, so I could help out there as well if it helps the war effort.
Sir Garith Mordrand |
I can't edit my profile on phone, so when I get home I'll do my retraining. Looks like there's no option to change your favored class bonus but that's fine. I only swap one point so I'll do that on profile tonight.
DM Variel |
Palau, in response your quesition about spells from Aravashinal's spellbooks I thought I mentioned it earlier. You gain 1 spell of your choice at each spell level 1-3 and you get summon monster 1-3 as well. He is only fifth level so not much different than yourself so I thought this would work nicely for you as you can customize what spells you want. In the future I might use this option or pick specific spells pending the situation.
Zeriax |
Variel, if we are going by the book, I think the cost for retraining a skill is the number of days needed to retrain x 10gold x my level, and then I get to retrain the equivalent to the bonus from my Int, which means:
5 x 10gold x 6 = 300 gold to retrain 2 skill points?
Pakak |

Okay, added the summon spells
Burning HandsLocate Object
and, due to popular request, haste
Samantha Starsight |
Hey Folks. I'm back from holidays.
I think I don't want to rejoin the game. Kindo sucks cause we have a really nice group and a great DM but my main problem is I totally do not dig the vibe of the WotR. I like gritty and shady characters and am not really down with all this big fight of good versus evil and being chosen heroes.
If this is a really stupid spot for me to drop out let me know and I will get back into action until we have taken care of the next section of hack and slash (which I really enjoyed) so that ya'll have time to find a suitable replacement.
DM Variel |
Quick question for all of you as I asked it of Garith and it will apply to the rest of you as well...
Where do you see yourself during army combat? The rules do not allow characters from participating directly but that does not mean that we still can't RP out what you are doing. This is really open ended so have fun with it. You could say you are on the flank trying to keep the flank from being overrun, part of the vanguard trying to overthrow the defenses, in the back providing support with bows or other ranged attacks, tending to the wounded, protecting the supplies, helping Garith with the delivery and following of orders, defecting and joining the demons, etc.
Maelchar |
I see Maelchar more providing medical support (maybe taking over Samantha's wand of clw?) and fighting a bit on the fringes if it becomes necessary...
Sorry to see you go Samantha, you'll be missed, it was fun playing with you.
Samantha Starsight |
As both my +1 breastplate as well as my +1 Glaive are taken directly from party funds you might want to considering cashing those in for group funds as well as the wands.
Pakak |
Be well, Samantha. It was good playing with you

I see a flying Pakak raining fireballs down on the thickest patch of foes as they scream in agony before expiring and being sent back to the abyss which spawned them! He spits on their ashes, and turns to take out the rest while the crusading army of good chants his name!
"Ironwall! Ironwall! Ironwall!"
The men swear everlasting loyalty and say they shall name their first born after him! The women pine for the love of an archmage champion! Dogs refuse to piddle on his property out of respect!
Glorious!
err...sorry, I got carried away.
A lot depends on what they're facing. In case of siege weapons or other things relying on engineering, I can see Pakak taking down foe's said siege troops or gear, or advising on the weakest points.
More practical, but admittedly a bit more dull
Duardlara Frostborn |
I heard a rumor that you might have a character retiring early. Variel asked if I might be interested in joining the party, also, so I have two questions:
1) Are you cool with me joining you here, too?
2) If you are cool with me giving it a shot, what would you be looking for in recruiting a replacement character?
Duardlara Frostborn |
No promises, but along those lines, is there a trickster god in the pantheon for Golarion? I'm drawing a blank.
Pakak |
Mmm, originally...
Maelchar 4) Sacred Weaponry: Three times per day as a standard action, a scale can be used to cast align weapon, but only to make a weapon lawful or good. Unlike a normal align weapon spell, this effect can be cast on an unarmed strike or natural weapon.
Oriana 3) Resistance: Three times per day as a standard action, a scale can be used to cast resist elements-but only against electricity or cold.
Pakak 1) Cloudwalking: Three times per day as a standard action, a scale can be used to cast levitate. A pillar of roiling clouds rises below the levitating object or creature, growing and shrinking with the target's altitude. This pillar is 5 feet in diameter (regardless of the target's size) and provides concealment (2 0 0/o miss chance) to any creature or object wholly contained within.
Sorien 6) Healing: Three times per day as a standard action, a scale can be used to cast cure moderate wounds.
(Later went to Zeriax)
Garith 2) Disguise: Three times per day as a standard action, a scale can be used to cast alter self. While disguised, the target gains a +4 bonus on all Bluff checks made against evil creatures.
Ryu 5) Vision: Three times per day as a standard action, a scale can be used cast darkvision. Unlike a normal darkvision spell, this effect stacks with normal darkvision to increase the range by another 60ft.
(Later went to Reiko)
So I think Sam had Resistance and thus, that will pass to whoever our new player makes?
Reiko Mura |
Well, another cleric might be dandy but don't feel pigeonholed too much. I just love extra healing. Contrary wise , I don't think anyone took the trickster mythic path
I have Trickster as my primary. Not that we can't have more than one. But I'd be more concerned about the class not the path. This has been a hard-hitting campaign and there have been a few times where we could have used a healer with solid channeling ability.
Maelchar |
Hi 'Lara.. you'd be most welcome here... and be any class you like... another healer would be nice, but so would another dedicated arcane caster or technically, anything you want to play - take your pick... except anti-paladin lol
Samantha Starsight |
I'd say choosing your Mythic Path is almost equally important to choosing your class.
And channeling is pretty bad as of the levels where this is moving onward from. With all the mellee power the group would really benefit from a strong buffer.
Anyways nice to have been gaming with ya'll and best of luck in bringing down the armies of the Abyss!
