Male Feraweni Wizard 9

Thaegrin quickly holds up his hand, fully aware of the nobleman’s short fuse. Still, he contains a chuckle to a small smile as he addresses Ezkal. “Easy, Thelkonlander. I would not exactly your father’s business traitorous, as much as past lapse in judgment. You are right in that we must move forward. The ‘betrayers’ Jathus was speaking of are the other vassals of Erenon who will likely rebel against the empire. Our noble shares my opinion that a year will show us more clearly who the victor of this conflict might be, and then, we can commit our warriors to the winning side. For now, we give the Emperor what support we can.”

Does House Rudianos keep any military force other than guards?

Shadow Lodge

Rudianos has what remains of the force that scattered Blackmoon's forces: maybe 300 infantry and 100 light cavalry. This is respectable, but not mighty. However, who are they loyal to? Lord Rudianos? Jathus? His brother? The highest bidder?

Male Human 4 Caviler, 3 Fighter

Caught off guard by the mans retort, "RELAX, I was merely imply that those that betray would not stand with the king were betrayers. How people choose to adhear to the king will in its own dictate if they are betrayers. But, planing on a possible failure doesn't make anyone a rebel. The Veir could even be thought of as betraying all of us, claiming his right to rule unlawfully. " Ezkal is as hot blooded as I am.

/ready to move on

Male Human Broquisitor of the Church of Gainz | 93/93 | AC:30 T: 21 F: 24 (SOF)

Just doublechecking how fluent I am in Joshinese, you're saying those that ARE going to betray wouldn't stand with the king and so are betrayers?

Male Human 4 Caviler, 3 Fighter

"I was merely imply that those that betray AND would not stand with the king were betrayers." Simple three letter words are easily lost in translation.

Shadow Lodge

I'm lost too. Please reiterate...

Male Human 4 Caviler, 3 Fighter

Male Human Broquisitor of the Church of Gainz | 93/93 | AC:30 T: 21 F: 24 (SOF)

Planning on a possible failure doesn't make anyone a rebel or backstabber. Which are you referring to here? Possible failure of us raising an army?

Male Human 4 Caviler, 3 Fighter

Jathus and Thaegrin both agree that since we need to wait for our army to ready itself, we might want to give it some time and eventually rethink what side our troops would be on. Jathus's comment was more reassuring himself that he wasn't a traitor.

Shadow Lodge

I think I understand now. Jathus wants to surrender to the Emperor and work towards his ends while Rudianos gets their forces in order. Then, it may be prudent to switch sides. For now, the safe play is to go with the Emperor and bide some time. Is this right?

If so, play on players. This is good stuff.

Male Feraweni Wizard 9

“If the matter is decided, I have a notion to speak with those of Lake Elra, to ensure they are inclined as we are to a central government. Their battle mages would pose a formidable threat to their enemies. If any of you would join me…”

Thaegrin opens the door. He looks down the hall, at each of the guarded doorways, and speaks to the nearest soldiers.
Perception 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
“Take us to the chamber of the Lake Elra representatives, quickly please.”

With that Perception, Thaegrin wants to see if these guards are slave soldiers, how well-armed they are. Also, is magic suppressed in these smaller rooms?

Shadow Lodge

The room is not suppressing magic.

The guards are armed with short spears, swords, and shields. They are professionals, not slaves.

Short spears cross as Thaegrin asks to see the delegates from Lake Elra.

"No. You stay here or you go to the Emperor."

Male Feraweni Wizard 9

Thaegrin frowns but wordlessly turns and retreats back into the room, closing the door behind him.
“Well, it seems we are limited to staying in this room or revisiting the Emperor. I would very much like to send word to your brother Drostan, Jathus, in order to return his forces to Lehrehn, but I do not possess the magic to do so. Since it seems decided that we will support the Emperor, for now, I do not wish to remain here any longer. Unless there is something else any of you wish to discuss?”

The wizard flits a glance to the two Thelkonlanders at mention of his abilities, and looks to the others in turn as he poses the question.

I am also ready to move on.

Shadow Lodge

Isaac, Should I give Tony some time or should we move on?

...? I think we need some context for that...

Shadow Lodge

I know what's going on :)

Anga:

You are able to slip away unnoticed in the commotion. You gain the halls and a blue tapestry catches your eye: it's moving?

A closer look reveals a secret door. I assume you take it, because you will otherwise be alone in the halls when the guards sweep the area.

Inside, bare, damp stone walls lead away with a slight upward slant. Shortly, you come to a junction where you can continue straight or turn right or left.

What will you do?

Male Half-Feraweni Rogue HP: 69/69 AC: 27

DSP:
Taking quick quiet steps, Facion looks first down the right hand tunnel, then the left. Kneeling low he runs his hand over the floor of the three pathways. He checks to see where the majority of traffic passes through, by noting where the floor was most freshly scuffed.

Don't know if he needs a check but here's one for perception just in case. 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29

Shadow Lodge

Anga:

It is nearly impossible to tell which passage was last used, but Anga's keen Farenweni eyes determine that the most recent patron of this passage turned left where the light is at its poorest. You will need a light source to see where you are going that way.

Male Half-Feraweni Rogue HP: 69/69 AC: 27

DSP:
Facion pulls out his flint and steal and searches up on the walls for any unlit torches or lamps that might be there.

Shadow Lodge

Anga:

Anga finds no torches or lamps, but there are brackets where torches could be.

Anyone else want to do anything? About this time you'd realize one of your number is missing.

Male Half-Feraweni Rogue HP: 69/69 AC: 27

DSP:
Taking precautions to ensure the way is clear, the man of shadows returns to the entry-way he came through. Being as swift and silent as he can he looks into the outer hall and checks for any portable light sources that may be there as well.

Shadow Lodge

Anga:

Stealth 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (1) + 23 = 24

Not for you:

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17

Anga:

Anga pokes his head out of the passage, but quickly ducks back in as a patrol of guards marches by. They do not seem to notice him. Slowly, he reaches out and removes a lantern from the wall beside the passage and returns inside.

Male Half-Feraweni Rogue HP: 69/69 AC: 27

DSP:
Using some loose cloth from his cloak, the man in the shadows covers the lantern allowing for only a little light through. Finding the scuffs once more, as quickly and quietly as he can he follows the left hand passage alert to any sounds or trap-sign as he makes his way through the tunnel.

Shadow Lodge

Anga:

Anga's Perception 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (2) + 12 = 14

Some 60 feet ahead of you, you see light streaming into the passage. From the look of it, it is coming through a grate of some kind.

What do you do?

Male Feraweni Wizard 9

Hm. Wherever that Halfblood is, he’d better be doing something useful. Hopefully, he hasn’t stumbled across another thug to beat senseless and drag back to the villa…

A sudden guffaw escapes from Thaegrin, momentarily breaking the silence in the room. His gaze idly trails off, avoiding the others, as though he did not just start laughing for no reason. He gently clears his throat and the awkward silence returns.

Male Human Broquisitor of the Church of Gainz | 93/93 | AC:30 T: 21 F: 24 (SOF)

Ezkal stood awkwardly with his arms crossed. .... so... what now?

"Should we inform the Emperor of our decision now?" Ezkal asked the group.

Male Half-Feraweni Rogue HP: 69/69 AC: 27

DSP:
Anga douses his lamp and proceeds slowly towards the grate. Listening intently he keeps his eyes split and his footfalls light.

Male Feraweni Wizard 9

Thaegrin nods, and looks to Jathus.

Shadow Lodge

[spoiler=Anga]
You approach the grate and peer through. At first glance you think you see people meeting in this room, but then you realize it is more interrogation than 'meeting'...wait...is that...Bearach!?

Suddenly, you feel a thin cord of rope slip around your neck!..

Grapple 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11

...but you are able to slip your hand between the rope and your neck.

Anga wins initiative. You're up friend. Before you stand a figure in black, no features are readily discernible.

Male Half-Feraweni Rogue HP: 69/69 AC: 27

DSP:
As swiftly and silently as he can, Facion ducks low and spins on his heal. His right hand draws the glinting blade of his rapier while his left activates the small latch on the wrist sheath, catching the dagger as it springs forward. Ending his pivot in position to strike he lashes out at his assailant.

So, a move action, a swift action, and now I think he gets two attacks? Correct me if that's wrong.

Raising his right arm he attacks with a high slash as simultaneously his left hand comes up seeking the dark figures ribs.

Rapier ATK 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16
Rapier DMG 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Male Half-Feraweni Rogue HP: 69/69 AC: 27

Stealth 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (8) + 23 = 31
For teh quiets.

Shadow Lodge

Anga:

Only one attack this turn because you can only take multiple attacks (even from TWF) on a full attack action. That said I have to take you first attack. Sorry.

The dark figure glides away from the strike and draws a long knife. With a flick of the wrist the blade separates into three prongs (like a sai). The shadowy form holds the blade forward in a defensive posture, while blocking Anga's return from the direction he came.

Male Half-Feraweni Rogue HP: 69/69 AC: 27

DSP:
More curious than concerned, the man of blades straightens up and examines the person before him. Turning his body to show his opponent his profile, he raises his left arm in salute. Pointing his right hand, and by extension rapier, at the shadowy figure, he strikes!

Rapier ATK 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29
Rapier DMG 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Male Human 4 Caviler, 3 Fighter

Jathus speaks straight to the guard holding his group back from departing the room. "We are ready to see the Emperor."

Shadow Lodge

Anga:

Anga's rapier flashes for the figure's heart, but he is ready for it.

Disarm Attempt 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (11) + 15 = 26

The shadowy figure catches Anga's rapier in his knife and twists it free with ease while his other hand swings up at Anga's jaw.

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11 for 1d3 + 9 + 1d4 ⇒ (1) + 9 + (4) = 14

Anga ducks away from the blow easily.

Each of you have a knife now. Your rapier is 10 feet behind your assailant.

The guard nods to Jathus and waves a silent order to a passing guard. In a moment a full patrol arrives to escort the group to see the Emperor.

Upon entering the room the Emperor booms, "Welcome Lord Jathus. We welcome your entourage. We look forward to a prosperous union of purpose. We hope you have made the wise decision?"

Male Human Broquisitor of the Church of Gainz | 93/93 | AC:30 T: 21 F: 24 (SOF)

Ezkal gives a sideways glance to Jathus, waiting for his reaction.

Shadow Lodge

Bump

Male Feraweni Wizard 9

Thaegrin takes note of everyone in the room, mildly curious if the Halfbreed hides among them.
Also, to determine which delegates are already there, and how well the Emperor is guarded. Perception 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25

Shadow Lodge

The Emperor sits alone at a trestle table enjoying an afternoon meal. Behind him, two massive men in the livery of the Emperors guard stand flanked by two females in close fitting cloth body suits.

The two men look like they'd be one hell of a fight, which makes Thaegrin think that the women must be equally challenging...that, or they are prostitutes...

The Emperor himself is not armored and wears a sword at hi left hip.

Sprinting forward Anga attempts to dodge around the figure blocking his path, ducking and rolling at the last instant.

Anga:

A calloused hand grabs for you as you tumble past your foe. His grasping fingers brush the back of your tunic, but he fails to connect. A quick puff of air send the poisoned dart singing through the corridor and sinks into the attacker's neck.

1d6 ⇒ 1

1d6 ⇒ 3

Anga watches as his adversary slows and finally goes catatonic. Wide eyes watch the half-Farenweni, but no movement is possible.

A familiar voice wafts up the corridor: Jathus!

What do you do?

Male Half-Feraweni Rogue HP: 69/69 AC: 27

DSP:
Kneeling down next to the fallen figure, Facion grabs the garrote and loops it around his opponents neck.

Setting the person's belongings to one side the man in the shadows pulls out a length of rope and thoroughly ties up the unconscious body. Finally taking his dagger and cutting off a small lock of hair, carefully storing it in a hidden pocket.

Retrieving his weapons he sheaths them and rewinds the small springs in his wrist sheaths. Before moving back to the grate, he quickly checks through the items pulled from his attacker.

Shadow Lodge

Anga:

Anga finds no clues as to the identity of the mysterious person. However, he does discover that she is a young woman and both of her nostrils are split.

She carries a trident main gauche (As a dagger with the disarm ability) It is extremely well made. You may want Thaegrin to look at it.

With his eyes locked on the would be emperor, Jathus marches into the room drawing his blade. Staying ten feet away, he slowly chests the blade touching the cold steel against his nose and finally giving his blade a kiss. With out pause he kneels and sets the blade to his side. "House Rudianos presents itself to its new King. You have House Rudianos backing your claim my lord." With his show of support finished Jathus stands sheathing his sword. "As soon as we are realized I will send word to my father, and we will start forging a an army of our most hardy slaves, my king."

*"I would also look to offer an alliance of even greater merit. I might be so bold as to offer myself or one of my brothers to wed your sister. Cementing our houses in union of blood."*

and booooooo bad time for a failed roll

Shadow Lodge

Anga:

You peer through the grate just in time to see Bearach being dragged from the room by his feet. It is impossible to see who or what was dragging him.

Jathus voice comes from the way you came. With that roll you could easily slide into their procession before they reach the Emperor's room and Jathus says what he just posted. If you try to change the outcome of what he said, do so in the OOC thread first to let people know what is going on, then jump into the game and whisper as you walk or something.

Male Half-Feraweni Rogue HP: 69/69 AC: 27

As the procession moves down the hall, an unremarkable servant slips in among their ranks and keeps pace all the way to the conference hall.

Shadow Lodge

The Emperor's eyebrows lift. "Bold indeed. Too bold perhaps...we will see."

"Thank you for your fealty Lord Rudianos. I am eager for you to secure your holdings since it is you that has surrendered to me. I will make arrangements for you to depart on the morrow. I hope I can trust in your dilligence and, He scans the company, discression?"
