Zanders eyes follow Vivian's directions and he sees the man she is referring to. Whispering back, he replies "I have an idea then, though it may backfire horribly, since that seems to be the way of things today." Picking up his glass, Zander stands up, adjusting his position if he feels it necessary.
"Attention please. I have recently lost someone I consider a friend, and so I'd like to propose a toast." raising his glass he adds "To those who've passed!" As he says this, Zander glows a divine light, that pulses outward and leaves the taverns feeling a bit better than they were previously.

Returning to his seat, he states "Not a miracle of Faith, but one of Shelyn's many gifts."
Tamarie Lialda
Tamarie is quite silent during the entire conversation. It's obvious she is not feeling at ease in an inn where many villagers are looking at her with those hate-filled eyes.
She watches the thing between Zander and Vivian go down, and doesn't say much. She'll wait for them to be alone before whispering: "I'm sorry." and then going back to the mansion, alone.
DMBleedsGreen
Though a few patrons grumble about 'Shelynite extravagance' in response to your words & your actions Zander, the majority seem pleasantly...
Well,
surprised seems the best way to consider their expressions & the two of you notice Faethor's shift from a tooth-grinding, simmering ache to an almost shocked relief. He turns to glance your way, a look of grudging thanks flashes across his features before he turns back to his companions, one of whom is among the loudest of those decrying Zander's somewhat flagrant supernatural activities.
Vivian, recognize the loud one as the same man who did the talking for the group when they tried preventing Professor Lorrimor's burial, Gibbs Hephenus.
Tamarie, if you wish, you may consider this happens as you are leaving. If not, please give me four Perception checks, two for the walk back to the Lorrimor house & two for when you get there. It will just be approaching full dark when you get back, although the sky is cloudless & there is enough moonlight to be equivalent to dim light.
Vivian Deberth
Not whispering, but with a low voice, Vivian says to Zander, with a much warmer smile
That was brilliant. You cured the guy, but no one can accuse you, as you cured everyone else needing it too. We'll drink to that.
Turning to the barkeeper, she shows her empty glass
Two more of these!
DMBleedsGreen
Shaking your head, you make your way down the lane to the Lorrimor house.
Davor, the rapping is definitely coming from one of the windows near the back of the house.
Davor Wolfriel
I actually responded to the question about the tapping prior to the temporary hiatus.
"Now that you mention it, I do hear something. Sounds like it's coming from one of the windows back here..." Davor replies, gesturing and moving towards the windows at the rear of the house as he draws his silver dagger. "I'm still puzzled by that V of blood on the statue, by the way. Seems like quite the coincidence it would appear just after we arrived, don't you think?"
Prof. Faradir Rokannon
Professor Rokannon rises and goes with Davor to investigate the tapping.
He draws on his pipe as he thinks through Davors question.
"Hm. Yes. Well, it seems like a lot of effort to be mysterious; and it's a message we don't understand. While it COULD be some local townsfolk having a little fun with the newcomers, I think it's more likely something else. We simply do not have enough information to determine what it could be yet."
Vivian Deberth
Vivian spots the Scheriff entering the inn, with a woman at his arm, but do nothing unless they come near her, as she minds her own business.
So, Zander, do you play cards? Or dice? I guess it's allowed by Shelyn, isn't it? Or a beautiful drinking song maybe?
Her roguish smile widens, as she waits for her glass to get full again

"I can do all those things, but I am afraid my sing voice sounds like a cat being strangled, or at least that's what I've been told." responds Zander with a slight chuckle. "What about you? Are you a bathtime songbird?"
Vivian Deberth
Well, there's too many people here for me to take a bath right now.So if you wanted to see a true thing of beauty- me with less clothes on-you'll have to wait.
Vivian chuckles and winks
But there's a song that springs in my mind, so i'll let you be judge of my feeble skills
Vivian rises her glass and starts to sing
I've been a wild rover for manys the year,
And I've spent all my money on whiskey and beer,
But now I'm returning with gold in great store,
And I never will play the wild rover no more.
Now all together folks, if you know that tune!
She slams the table with her open hands in rythm
And it's No, Nay, Never,
No, Nay, Never, No more,
Will I play the wild rover,
No, never, No more. (chorus)
I went into an alehouse I used to frequent,
And I told the landlady my money was spent,
I asked her for credit, she answered me Nay,
Such custom as yours I could have every day. (Chorus)
I brought up from my pockets 10 sovereigns bright,
And the landlady's eyes lit up with delight,
She said I have whiskey and wines of the best,
And the words that I spoke they were only in jest. (Chorus)
I'll go home to my parents, confess what I've done,
And I'll ask them to pardon their prodigal son.
And when they've caressed me as oft times before,
I never will play the wild rover no more.(Chorus)

Quickly picking up they rhythm, Zander stomps along with the song, his armor adding a bit of jingle to the beat. When Vivan is done, Zander applauds heartily, ”I would think your parents glad you’ll play the wild rover no more. I bet your father had a sharpened sword ready for any lad who came a’courtin.”
Vivian Deberth
I hope not, as my dad is in Pharasma's arms since more than fifty years now.
There's a brief flash of sadness in Vivian's green eyes, then she smiles again
And my mother gave me enough love in my childhood to make me feel protected and cared for. She let me do my own decisions.. and my own mistakes, big or small.Besides, tending people wounds in your teenage years gives you all the info you need about anatomy.
Wicked grin

Davor, as you draw back the curtain, you are confronted with a most unusual & even disturbing sight. A bird, obviously spectral as it manages to be both luminous & translucent at the same time. As you catch a glimpse, it immediately flies off.
Tamarie, it's about now that you arrive at the front door.
Davor Wolfriel
"What the?" Davor exclaims, startled by the ghostly bird.
"Looked like a glowing raven, but I could see right through it. Do you think it could have been... spying on us, Professor? But then why would it be tapping at the window? This place is making me more uneasy by the minute."
Davor Wolfriel
"There's someone out there!" Davor shouts, straining to get a better look at the figure sneaking away into the darkness. "I just caught a glimpse of them sneaking away when the bird moved... If the girls were here, I'd suggest going after whoever is out there, but I can't see leaving Miss Lorrimor and the house unguarded in case there are others out there too."
Vivian Deberth
OOC
Wait, how old is Vivian? 49?
Nay, sorry, i should have wrote fifteen, my bad.^^
She's lost her father when she was 4-5 y/o, and she's now in her early 20| Davor Wolfriel |
Would we notice Tamarie opening the door in the midst of the ghost raven chaos? For the time being, I'll assume she entered without setting off any of her own traps and we were in the back part of the house so we wouldn't have noticed her until she either came down the hallway or said something.

Zander boggles slightly over the revelation that Vivian was fatherless for most of her life, ”Seems no matter what I say, I stick my foot in it don’t I. Any other sore spots I should avoid? Find puppies revolting? Don’t like sunshine?” comments the cleric, trying to make light of the situation.
Vivian Deberth
I'm a redhead, and i lived in a gloomy, dark temple for most of my live. But i like sunshine. And i'm do prefer cats over dogs, even if cats make me sneeze. You're kind trying to change the topic of our little chat, but i'm fine with the death of my father. You know, I consider myself lucky, as I still had my mother to take care of me. I've meet more than one orphan in my life in the temple, all alone... just like Davor, probably.
She drinks a little more and smiles, her green eyes sparkling
Let's pretend i'm mean and cruel, and I enjoy to see you being uncomfortable while trying to entertain me...I wont tell you of my sore spots.
After a few seconds, she bends and whispers something in Zander's ear
She sits back confortably in her chair, her foot "innocently" brushing against Zander's lower leg
So please, tell me more about Shelyn. I want you to make my ... education tonight.

Zander doesn’t seem to respond the foot brush, but his face brightens up over the conversation shifting to Shelyn, ”As you know she is the goddess of beauty, arts, music, and love. What many do not know, is that she is NOT fond of lust, nor jealousy. She believes everyone has their own inner beauty, and does her best to see that aspect of them. Beauty comes from within is a saying that we preach at the temple to the lowliest of acolytes. She accepts everyone for who they are without bias or bigotry. She does not look favorably on those who use their beauty as a weapon, or try and skirt by on their looks and charms. She wants everyone to live life to its fullest, and to always strive to better themselves and do the best they can.
I remember one time, the High priest told a story of two acolytes trying to woo a member of the flock. One, a gifted painter, created a painting for the woman in less than an hour. The other, a relatively unskilled man, also painted her something, but it took the better part of a week for his gift to be completed. Do you know which one she chose, and then a year later, married? The second. When asked why, the woman explained that while the first was a better painting if you only looked at the picture, she could see the layers and layers of paint used by the second, where he had spent hours trying to get something just right. The High Priest then had his wife bring in the paintings as proof of his story, and their love.
Another interesting story is how the Eternal Rose came to bear the glaive as her chosen weapon. The Whisperer of Souls was originally her brother’s, Zon-Kuthon, but it corrupted him and swallowed many a soul before she claimed it. Now, she works to free the souls from it’s grasp, and uses it as a reminder to all that anything can be purified and made into something beautiful.” realizing he has started to ramble, he flushes slightly and takes a sip of his drink.
Vivian Deberth
I think i can see eye to eye with your deity so. I tend to look for the good and the beautiful in things and people. My mother told me way too many times that i should be a priest of Pharasma, and that even if I was kind of "too full of life" for the majority of the older priest, SHE considered it a good thing. But I'm not interested in priesthood.
Just plain honesty there, as far as Zander may know. Then she adds, matter of factly
For me, lust is a good thing, when used reasonably enough- well, as far as lust can be reasonable, of course. Without lust, there wouldn't be people, and people either are things of beauty or can create things of beauty, so Shelyn should be a little more supportive of carnal cravings, in my opinion. I totally understand your parable about the two lovers: the first one saw a beautiful girl, and depicted her accuratly,as beautiful as she was, no less but no more; the other took his time, knew doubts, tried again, and depicted not only the outer but the inner beauty of the girl, with patience and dedication. It was not a work of art maybe, but it was an act of love.
Vivian drinks, then says
Really? Zon Kuthon? Don't know much about him, I confess. I always thought of the glaive of Shelyn as a thorn, as the rose is one of her favorited flowers, and meaning that either she can defend herself, or that beauty comes sometimes at a cost. And I guess you can defend yourself too, Zander, seeing how you carry yourself in armor. We could need your services.
She puts her glass down, and looks at Zander a few seconds
I trust you.And trust is quite a foreign currency here...
She smiles, once again, a bright and warm smile
Now, do you have enough money to buy everyone here a drink? And do you want to pay for it by yourself, or do I need to steal your purse first?
She laughs and winks

Zander chuckles a bit over Vivian’s comment about lust, ”I never said she does not support carnal cravings. She is completely fine with those, but there should be a love and caring behind them. She is after all, NOT the goddess of fertility or sexuality. I would have to think fertility would be more Erastil’s area than Shelyn’s, but I doubt many people praise Old Deadeye while in the throngs of passion.”
Fishing out his coin purse, he plunks a few silver on the table. ”Hopefully that can handle whatever you have planned. And I can defend myself reasonably well, much to the dismay of a few bandits on the roads. Why? Do you have need of a protector? Davor seems like he can handle that job just fine.”
Vivian Deberth
Depends what part of the male anatomy you call "ol"Deadeye". And anyway, you should be able to aim properly too...
Another vivid laugh, and Vivian weeps her laughing, teary eyes, then spokes to Zander in ushered tones
I'd like you to buy a round of drinks for all the folks in the inn. If I do it, maybe some of the townfolks here won't like to owe me something.
Zander Drax
|
Whispering back to Vivian, ”Did I not earn us a few points in our favor with my healing? Now you want me to buy them drinks too? What did you do before I arrived to upset them so much?” Pausing for a moment, his brow creasing, he adds, ”Cassandra’s bold warning also has me concerned. If there is something foul on the southern horizon, perhaps it is affecting the people here? You can only live in shadows for so long before you accept the darkness. All the good will on Golarion would mean nothing if they have closed their hearts to the light.”
Standing with a jingle of maile, ”But we’ll not have given up on them yet.” Striding to the bar, he slides the coins over to the barkeep. In a firm voice meant to carry through the bar, he says ”Drinks are on this for any who want it. Shelyn prefers happiness over melancholy depression, and so do I.” turning to the tables ”Let there be more merriment in this place!”
Tamarie Lialda
Oops, sorry lads!
"I'm on it!" Tamarie shouts to everyone's surprise. She runs around back, and tries to follow the thing that Davor described as the ghostly raven, maybe to its lair or its owner.
Davor Wolfriel
"Huh?" Davor reacts at hearing the unexpected voice at the front of the house. "Was that Tamarie or Miss Lorrimor?"
Is there a more direct exit from the house toward the direction the raven and mysterious figure were located than going out through the front door? (Besides jumping out a window)
DMBleedsGreen
Yes, there is a back door from the kitchen area.
Going to roll Tamarie's Perception check to re-gain the trail.
Tamarie's Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
It is the work of a brief few moments to shove Tamarie's makeshift impediments out of the way as you open the back kitchen door to the stoop behind the house, Davor.
Davor Wolfriel
"I'm going after whoever's out there. Yell if anyone tries to get in the house!"
I'll likewise be attempting to locate a trail if I can't still see the mysterious figure.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
DMBleedsGreen
Evil GM: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Davor, though only faint, you make out the distinct sound of someone moving though the fallow field behind the Lorrimor house.
From the sounds you hear, the figure is making their way to the footbridge to the South.
*** The Laughing Demon ***
Vivian, you & Zander have been enjoying yourselves for your meal, the food is good, the mood of the villagers has generally improved.
Vivian Deberth
Perception check 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Vivian notices the lonely woman
Would you please excuse me, Zander? I'll come back quick, promise..
The young redhead rises from her seat and looks around, before walking to a (preferably female) inn servant and whispering something in her ear
could you tell me where i can..relief myself? And, by the way, i'd like to know who's that woman in the corner.. do you know why she's alone? Of course, if you need a few minutes to collect the info, I'd be more than happy to give you a lil" something
Discretly, four silver pieces are placed in the waitress hand
sleight of hand , taking ten (total 10+9=19)
DMBleedsGreen
Zander; yes you may attempt the Perception check.
Prof. Rokannon; it is now full dark outside, although there is a moon out tonight. Without a light source you can only move at 1/2 speed safely, with a light source, you may make a full move but not any faster than that.
Davor, Tamarie, you are not hindered by the lack of light.
Zander Drax
|
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Zander nods in understanding as Vivian gets up to leave, curious what has caught her eye. Unfortunately, a serving girl catches his eye for a moment, and he loses his train of thought completely.
Davor Wolfriel
"I'm with you," Davor answers Tamarie, sprinting to catch up to the mysterious spy fleeing toward the footbridge to the south.
"You'd make things a lot easier on yourself if you gave up now!" he shouts in the direction of the fleeing footsteps. "I'll not be in such a pleasant mood if I have to chase you much further."
