Sevak Paradesee |

Sevak would very much like to avoid doing that...

Sevak Paradesee |

Sevak is more than a little afraid that if he actually starts killing people in naga form, he might never 'come back', so to speak.
Also, at least by the rules, his naga form is actually not much better at killing things than his nagaji form, though I feel like we've not been treating it that way.

Sevak Paradesee |

That *is* what he's used it for previously.

Sevak Paradesee |

All right! Hope you had a good break. :)

Sevak Paradesee |

No problem, I kind of expect things to be slower over the holidays. I've had a lot on my mind myself.

Sevak Paradesee |

To be fair, most of Sevak's plans have significant "Aaaand we'll make it up as we go along" portions to them even before they meet the enemy. :D

Sevak Paradesee |

Funny you should say that, because I was thinking the other day that Sevak might well view giving in to the naga as a fate worse than death... and I could see that happening if his HP gets low enough.

Sevak Paradesee |

I'm getting married this Friday, so it's quite possible I'll be somewhat... distracted for the next while. So if I disappear for a bit that's why. :D

Sevak Paradesee |

She does indeed. :) I'll have to ask her if she'd like to join in.

Sevak Paradesee |

I'll keep that in mind. :)

Sevak Paradesee |

I was looking at the Wikipedia main page today and saw this, which seems like it could be inspiration for an interesting location. :)

Sevak Paradesee |

I was actually thinking more of when the city was inhabited rather than ruined.

Sevak Paradesee |

It seems like something that might be appropriate if Sevak ever visits Dtang Ma, or maybe Xa Hoi--the southern, more "India/Southeast Asia"-esque parts of Tian Xia.

Sevak Paradesee |

I hope you had a good Christmas! I know I did. :) My wife and I are talking about what she might like to play in this game now.
Oh, also, how long is this hallway? And can Sevak read scrolls still, as he can still use wands?

Sevak Paradesee |

Okay, so my wife is thinking of a Kitsune Slayer (Vanguard archetype) who fled from Bachuan due to not fitting in with the whole communist thing. She's kind of open on exactly how she ended up on this end of Po Li--it's probably something to discuss. What build rules should she use for her character? The same as for Sevak? Standard starting gold?

GM Mowque |

Yes, Sevak can still read it. Much like he can still read Drudic, his fall wasn't perfect and whole (and you'll be getting some cool stuff soon).
The hallway is pretty long, but there are curves and corners. The closet curve behind you is about 25 feet, with the pursuers 20 feet (so the curve is behind them).
In front of you, a bit closer. So like ten feet to a corner, with the voice and people just beyond it, coming up fast.
As for your wife, it might be better to have her talk to me directly? Or at least have her make an account on here? The build rules would be altered slightly and I'd have to make sure she wasn't too strong compared to you.
Interesting challenge. Of all my games, this is the one where adding someone new is a challenge. We can do it, for sure, just need to think on it.
My co-GM is moving so he is out of touch, so I'll have to touch base with him. But I like the idea of a kitsune. She will be much better at sneaking then you. You won't need paq anymore!

Sevak Paradesee |

She does have an account on here, though she hasn't been on much: http://paizo.com/people/DiabolicKittenLX
I'll let her know you'll be messaging her.

Sevak Paradesee |

Hmmmmmm... so, I'm debating between two courses of action, and I can't decide which one works better from an "it will make an interesting story" perspective--I know you can work with either, but I thought I'd run it by you and see what you think.
One is to use the scroll of Animal Aspect to get a climb speed and try to carry Paq up through the skylight. I'm not sure where things would go from there... Sevak wouldn't give up on things, but I'm not sure what he try different than what he's already done. And of course he'd have to deal with being on the roof and likely chased by bandits.
The other idea is to try Zhèngyì's idea and challenge the Red Mouth to single combat--here, now, in the middle of his palace surrounded by his men. I really don't think Sevak can win even if he takes up the challenge, but... I don't know everything that's going on, so it might be an interesting way to take the story.
And yes, I think it is kind of funny how this is kind of a hard campaign to add someone to. It's quite different from anything I've played before, so it's not a surprise.

Sevak Paradesee |

I know, I guess I just wanted validation that neither idea was just crazy. XD
I kind of expect that sharing the campaign with someone else will mean it's not solely Sevak-focused.

Sevak Paradesee |

Hmmm... that's an interesting thought. I'll run it by her. Would you really be willing to run two games like that?

Sevak Paradesee |

She's on board for it. :) She's not quite sure what she'd like to play, but I know some things:
1) She really likes the Zelda series
2) She really likes the Assassin's Creed series
3) She's not into complicated combat systems
She's also mentioned liking playing sneaky characters more--she's still thinking of a Slayer.
So, some thoughts:
*Some elements of exploration and puzzle-solving would probably appeal to her.
*Being able to solve encounters through stealth would probably appeal to her.
*It's best if there are clear goals and clear ways to work towards those goals.
So, what do you think might match those criteria?
As for myself... I'm thinking it would be funny if I played Brennus the magical raven as her companion. :D

Sevak Paradesee |

Oh, she's fine with Pathfinder combat as long as she has Herolab to calculate attack bonuses for her. :D Mostly it means she likes simple, direct character builds i.e. pure or mostly pure martial classes. She's played paladin and rogue and liked it, but she hasn't liked the one primary caster she's tried.
As for Zelda and Assassin's Creed... that's where I got the second list from. :D As far as I know, both games share those elements.

GM Mowque |

I have an idea.
What do you think about being a pair of Linnorm warriors/adventurers/whatever, going to Irrisen to recover old Linnorm artifacts that date back to before the Baba Yaga conquest?
Thinking very dungeon delving/ruins/heist like events. Fairly self contained with maybe one or two NPCs that pop-up frequently, chasing after you.
Appealing at all?

Sevak Paradesee |

My wife says that sounds like a fun idea. :) Should we start a new thread to nail down details?
I'd probably like to play an unusual character, like Brennus or something with a third-party class, but if you'd rather I didn't I do have a couple of other ideas that would be pure Paizo.

Sevak Paradesee |

Certainly! I think I can do more than just an AP. Any idea what you'd like? Want to try one of my crazy ideas, perhaps? ;)

GM Mowque |

Hmm, I don't mind crazy setting or events. My only requests are it is in Golarion-verse and I sometimes get to deal with political stuff. But we can do some crazy planar stuff or something? Darklands also have some mad stuff or maybe some distant time in the past? I've been feeling a hankering to play a brawler of some type.
Are you upset this game is rather mundane? I do have some plans going forward to spice things up.

Sevak Paradesee |

Oh, I know things are coming. I mean, I was the one who suggested this period of Sevak being de-powered in the first place, so I can't complain about it--it's just that things always take longer to get through in PbP, so it feels long even though it hasn't really been that long.
I think I can find plenty to interest me just on Golarion. :) Anywhere in particular you've been wanting to explore? Or any nation's politics that you're particularly interested in?

GM Mowque |

If you survive, you should be getting some cool powers and a level soon. So you are still enjoying things? At the 1.5 or so year mark?
Places I think are cool and haven't had much of a chance to explore:
Crown of the World
Elemental Planes (not as crazy about some of the weirder ones)
Mwangi Expanse (jungle+ giant killer apes)
Rahadoum (atheist land)
Darklands (lots of neat stuff there)
Maybe one of the other planets in that solar system? Perhaps latter in the game.
I know, not much to work off of. Sorry I'm not being more helpful!
Themes like commerce and trade appeal to me as well.

Sevak Paradesee |

That does seem like a very big if just now.
Hmmm... I can think of some things to do with that. If we started in the Mwangi Expanse, I think there's even a canonical portal to Akiton.

Sevak Paradesee |

Should we start a new thread for this idea?
And, well, given how Sevak's plans hadn't gone well, I rather expected that to not go well. But after seeing what the Red Mouth was doing, he didn't really trust his word when it came to surrender.
...and Sevak has been skirting the edge of being suicidal. For all that he was recovering somewhat, the idea of dying for a good cause, even uselessly, was not wholly repugnant to him. I'd debated whether or not to mention that in his thoughts, and while I didn't really, I kind of had it in the back of my mind that he would subconsciously see the idea as an escape from the Spirit Naga. After all, his first mistake was valuing his own life too much.
