I’m thinking of bringing on an IRL friend of mine to both introduce him to PBP and replace Thirrion who seems to have vanished. How do people feel about that?
does surprise round mean only a standard action, then?
I'm assuming pulling a weapon is going to use up that action?
My understanding is you can pull the weapon as part of an action if you have BAB 1 or more. But if not, then you can't. If I'm wrong about that, then Erick will draw both his weapons only.
I know you can do it as part of a move. I'm torn between drawing, and casting (and then drawing and shooting next round).
One of the most common house rules I've run into is surprise is a full round.
I generally run surprise rounds as either a move or a standard. Zyrel is correct in that you can draw as part of a move. The new player will join in a bit.
I think you can wake them up, you just can't restore HP. So basically, they are at -2 or whatever, but they can't take any actions or they start bleeding again. I think.
If we are going to the den, then consider zyrel on overwatch. I suggest some others might do well there as well.
Some of the rest of us - in disguise preferably - might do well to go in and quietly look for information.
Sorry for the confusion on my end.
So: can I get the plan? It sounds like
(A) go to <place we were directed to> and sleep the night
(B) go to caravan in the morning
(C) WHILE keeping an eye out for further ambushes.
Did we get a range? I didn't see it.
While they're terrifying, have they actually displayed hostile behaviour? Thinking this is a context thing. They could be begging (badly) for a handout instead of threatening to eat us...

The 'Theatre of the Mind' is easier when the DM's right in front of you. I could have posted earlier but i had to think and re-think what's going on in the battle.
Apologies for the lack of posting. October was... not fun. Life sucker punched me, and while I was distracted with the bloody nose, Fate snuck up behind me and beat me with a baseball bat.
Things are clearing up, but it may be after the holidays before I have the energy to post regularly.
On the good side, it's looking like I may be employed before Christmas again, so yay.
Again, apologies for falling off the face of the earth, just... as I said, October was not a good month.
I'd again like to apologize for the lack of posting in October/November. It was about 30% physical, 30% mental, and 40% situational. I don't want to go into all the details, but I really did need the two months to deal with life and recharge my batteries. I spent a lot of time running around doing job searching, a lot of which included driving for 6-8 hours a day doing job interviews in Houston, which is a 3 hour drive for me. I almost had to move to Houston to get work, as I was not finding anything in Austin.
I do have good news though, all the hard work was worth it. I had two job offers arrive within a 24 hour period right before Thanksgiving. I am happy to announce that as of yesterday, at 8AM EST, I am now gainfully employed again with an international company. Best of all though, I am not going to have to move to Houston for it, I can stay in Austin and travel as needed while working remotely.
My health, and the health of all my family, is also in a much better place as of this week (other than a really nasty chest cold that made the rounds in the house, and for which I'm still hacking up congestion from).
Thank you for your patience, and I hope life is going well for you also.
If you are not comfortable with my rejoining the game, please let me know, and I'll completely understand.
Sure, just tell me how you want me to rejoin. I haven't read up the 61 posts while I was gone, I didn't want to have knowledge I shouldn't have. I'm assuming Erick had to head off on a side mission of some type.
Welcome back! Glad to hear everything worked out :)
Without trying to step on @GM Coyote...
Erick's mostly been in the background (presumably driving) since about halfway through the fight.
Essentially we fought off some mutants, survived a deadly storm by digging in, then trekked across the wastes to Alkenstar. We've just got there, and everyone is thinking about what to do next. Could be a good time to jump in?
Definitely a good time for you to jump in before the next plot beat. I will remind you all that you're expected to report to the trading company to collect your pay.
