Weapon and Armor Proficiency Sorcerers are proficient with all simple weapons. They are not proficient with any type of armor or shield. Armor interferes with a sorcerer’s gestures, which can cause her spells with somatic components to fail Bloodline Infernal Each sorcerer has a source of magic somewhere in her heritage that grants her spells, bonus feats, an additional class skill, and other special abilities. This source can represent a blood relation or an extreme event involving a creature somewhere in the family’s past. For example, a sorcerer might have a dragon as a distant relative or her grandfather might have signed a terrible contract with a devil. Regardless of the source, this influence manifests in a number of ways as the sorcerer gains levels. A sorcerer must pick one bloodline upon taking her first level of sorcerer. Once made, this choice cannot be changed. Cantrips Sorcerers learn a number of cantrips, or 0-level spells, as noted on Table: Sorcerer Spells Known under “Spells Known.” These spells are cast like any other spell, but they do not consume any slots and may be used again. Eschew Materials A sorcerer gains Eschew Materials as a bonus feat at 1st level. Bloodline Powers You can draw upon the power of Hell, although you must be wary of its corrupting influence. Such power does not come without a price. Corrupting Touch (Sp) At 1st level, you can cause a creature to become shaken as a melee touch attack. This effect persists for a number of rounds equal to 1/2 your sorcerer level (minimum 1). Creatures shaken by this ability radiate an aura of evil, as if they were an evil outsider (see detect evil). Multiple touches do not stack, but they do add to the duration. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Charisma modifier. Infernal Resistances (Ex) At 3rd level, you gain resist fire 5 and a +2 bonus on saving throws made against poison. At 9th level, your resistance to fire increases to 10 and your bonus on poison saving throws increases to +4. Description:
Armanus Hellfire is a lean, tiefling with red skin, brown shoulder-length hair, purple eyes and is of medium height. The sorcerer has two small horns jutting out from either side of his hairline, with slightly pointed ears. A slave to fashion, Armanus can be seen wearing the latest fashions out of Cheliax, even in his causal wear. The tiefling keeps a dagger and a double-barreled pistol in a holster on his hip at most times.
Personality:
Armanus, like his other family members, take pride in his lineage, and rises to live up to his legacy everyday. The tiefling is gentile when he has to be, cruel and condescending when he needs to be, not above using intimidation to get his way. The sorcerer enjoys both intellectual and creative pursuits. He is fond of politics, particular tiefling social equality. His family wondered why on top of his sorcerous abilities Armanus would also study firearms. His reasoning was in this day and age, the tiefling would look to much out of place without one.
Background:
Armanus Jerax Hellfire is named after his famous tiefling ancestor, General Jerax Hellfire, who helped defeat the Glorious Reclaimation's attempt to overthrow House Thrune. General Hellfire and his descendants lived on a large estate gifted to the tiefling hero by Queen Abrogail Thrune II. After the Cheliaxian Civil War, Armanus's grandfather, Montgomery, was able to secure the family estate, despite the public outcry. Most believe it was because Montgomery had lots of dirty on the early rulers of the newly-freed states, which according to family folklore was true. Unlike other families who has fiendish blood in their family tree, Hellfires were raised to be proud of their heritage and the accomplishments of their ancestors. When tieflings were born within the family, they were celebrated, not a family embarassment. The family no longer worshipped Asmodeus, but still revere him as The God of Law. Many Asmodean relics and artifacts still gather dust in the Hellfire estate attic.
Outside the family, Cheliax treated the Hellfires differently. Seen as a reminder of countries former sins, The Hellfire family was tolerated at best, and any sigh of fiendish taint was seen as abominations. Thus it was for Armanus, the first tiefling to be born within 2 generations. The young tiefling received the scorn of his peers, but kept his head held high, resulting in a perceived conceited airs. Growing up on the Hellfire estate, Armanus was given excellent schooling and when his sorcerous talents began to manifest, his family brought many different sorcerers to the estate to help guide Armanus's latent powers and his interest in all matter arcane. In the main hall of the house, over the mantle was a painted portrait of General Jerax Hellfire. Seeing this portrait everyday led to Armanus's pursuit of painting and other arts. Because of his long lifespan, Armanus helped run the estate while his brother and sister being human, became old and infeebled, alongside his adult nieces and nephews. The lust for adventure finally overtook Armanus's family obligations and set out to find his own legend and remind the world that a Hellfire is not one to be underestimated. |
