Alright, to straighten things once and for all: Was Rata permanently switched to team 1 due to his sun sickness or is he back with team 2? I'm sorry I'm having so much trouble with the schedule, it's just been tough catching up after the weekends.
Also, were still splitting up our active shifts into two four hour chunks, with downtime in between?
I'm not usually this much of a dumb-dumb, I swear. Also, it shouldn't come as a surprise to you Nef, that Rata plans on staying on the Rita while you go make peace with Whale.

Nef and Zem taking a romantic gondola ride? Aww.

Nefertiti Abdul |

Rata --
You're not a dumb-dumb. With that charisma, you're more of a yum-yum. (And when are you going to start charming Jacinth? You're slacking, boy!)
You're back with Team 2.
Would it make it easier if every one of Nef's posts was tagged with who's on duty, as well as the time?
I agree that the schedule is confusing. I adopted a Canadian Submarine corps watch schedule for small ships -- one that was designed to reduce fatigue -- operating on the idea that the two casters need 8 hours sleep to regain spells. For Oren, this is pretty iron clad. Nef is a bit more flexible in being able to regain missed sleep later.
Each team has one four hour and one 8 hour work shift. Each team has one four hour free time shift. Each team has one 8 hour sleep shift.
Right now, at 0600 hours you're on sleep shift but can get up early if you wish.
And yes, I know you will stay with the ship. Most of the ship will. Still, Nef needs at least one person who can swim and sail to take her out in a lifeboat because she's that unskilled.
And it sounds like she has her one volunteer already. :)

No need for that Nef, if we're following the schedule you posted in the discussion earlier, then I will simply follow that. Thanks as always for your efforts in clarifying things. You are the winds that fill the sails of this campaign. Too cheesy? Haha.
And about Jacinth, funny you should mention that... Stay tuned.

Nefertiti Abdul |

Nef is happy to see romance on the horizon for Rata and Jacinth.

Rata Fenn |

I've never pursued romance in a tabletop game before, so this should be interesting and, if nothing else, a learning experience for me. Haha. But there is no guarantee it will even get that far, we'll see how the dialogues between the two of us play out.

Nefertiti Abdul |

Romance in roleplay, like romance in real life, is utterly unpredictable. I knew when we started this game that Nef had a crush on her guide. I was assuming that crush would stay firmly in the background, especially since I gave Nef a reason in her backstory to be terrified of romantic attachments. Not for others. Just for herself.
Hmm turns a beady eye on Lady Ladile.
Then Jacinth chose to ask what place all of you had in Nef's heart, while Nef was under a truth spell. Yeah, so much for that crush remaining in the background. Whatever happens between you and Jacinth, it'll be entertaining.

Jacinth Deepwarder |
@Rata - Neither have I, aside from a short-lived romance with one of Hmm's characters in a Mummy's Mask game that recently died. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing how things turn out, whether romance ends up being in the cards or not!
@Nef - Yes, well...even though she gave her assent, that was a rather uncomfortable experience for Jacinth. Nothing helps a bad mood or uncomfortable experience like spreading it around...not to mention she was genuinely curious, too! :P

Jacinth Deepwarder |
Okay, whether or not Jacinth winds up being the victim of a mutiny based on her latest post, a bug has been put in my ear about some possible tactics to use should she (or someone else) end up going to parley with the Iron Bastion. This got me to thinking about whether or not we should discuss some contingency plans OOC for certain situations that we might face. I'm not the best tactician, but we seem to have a pretty good spread of skills and abilities among us. Thoughts?

Nefertiti Abdul |

I love putting bugs in elf ears. It's so much fun watching them whack their heads to dislodge them...
Before we get too much into tactics, I'd like to know the following bits of information:
1) How close will we let the Iron Bastion get to us?
2) Does Oren have any open spell slots?
Here are some thoughts:
A. I'd like to send as big a team as possible with Jacinth as honor guard. Fewer people to transport in later.
B. Despite Nef being a great party face, I'm advocating that she gets left behind to serve as transport monkey to those left behind. She has Fly and can fill one of her open slots with Air Walk. With Wedjat's help, she can transport two other people in addition to herself to the other ship if needed.
(Note: If Jacinth won't go, then this gets shot to heck. Nef would likely have to go in the "indisposed" Captain's place... Unless AIKANE wants to take on the Captain role...)

Oren Mitabu |

Oren doesn't normally keep slots open.
I've found that I almost never have an opportunity to fill them ahead of time.

Nefertiti Abdul |

::Nods.::
That's because you're a battle guy rather than a utility caster like Nef.
So flight is not prepared for you, correct? How close in do you want to be, Oren? The only thing that I see in your spell list that I'd want close up is haste. Otherwise, you look like you could stay with the Rita.

Oren Mitabu |

I think I'm better situated to be on the Rita. Haste would be great, but I'll have to let it go for this altercation. Assuming a fight breaks out, which I suspect might happen.

Nefertiti Abdul |

You and I are the two damage multipliers, Oren. If you're not there, Nef should be close enough to give bard boosts. With her mobility and vocal range... Not a problem, I'm thinking!
Jacinth, it looks like we've got at least one to stay with the ship. How big do you want the honor guard to be? Do you want the rest of us, in case crap goes down? Yeah, I'm fully expecting combat.
Or do you want Nef to fly in with others when you give the signal?

Aikane Redvane |

Honestly?
Forget the boat, let's get to the island, already.
We send Captain and one other. If things go bad, they are on their own.
Maybe just send jacinth and nef. Then they can fly back if the pancake hits the fan.

Nefertiti Abdul |

"However, if he truly is suffering from illness or some other malady that your surgeon is unable to treat, I would be more than happy to send for ours."
Oh, please send Lani over to treat the Captain of the Slave Ship, loaded with Tulitan slaves! Please?
Giggling hysterically at the thought of this, especially with the sorts of treatments Lani offers...
BTW, Jacinth -- I have to give you kudos for playing the role you have been given to the hilt. Really, you're awesome. Thanks for stepping in here.

Yep, I was thinking if the player was interested, and we survived the mission, that if she wanted to make Jacinth a permanent part of the group, and rebuild her as a character, I'd be all for it.

Nefertiti Abdul |

Nef gives Oren's suggestion a "Thumbs up!"

Floating through Nef's imagination...
Ke' nodded at the diagnosis, and dug an enormous spikey blue pill (suggesting a frozen spider) out of his collection of bottles.
Ke': "I see the problem, you'll need to take this pill three times a day for a month."
Captain: [nervously] "Will I need to take it with water?"
Ke': [gives a shark toothed grin as he shook his head]
"Nope. Other end."

Nefertiti Abdul |

Wow, my imagination is AWESOME if this is what floats out of it. Thank you, Lani!

Wedjat |

Wedjat waits until the clock shifts into Easter, then swoops down as he sees his prey.
Screeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Rabbit. Tasty. And hard boiled eggs? Bonus!

Party Inventory? None. We purchased a ship, restocked it, and then sent Oren shopping for a few life saving items we may need later.
To be honest, this happened because no one in the party was acting as treasurer, and so no one was actually tracking. I only realized the situation when I had to purchase the coal oil, did the calculations, and realized that we were completely out.
I am NOW tracking this stuff, however belatedly.
However, Nef and Oren between them still have enough cash to pay Quell's Whore for the rescue you arranged. Neither of the two casters spent all their personal funds, so we still have something for Captain Bethany, if needed.
I should note that the group also owes Nef and Oren each 375 for the CLW wand we purchased to help cover healing.
When we complete our rescue, we will get 3000 from Senegar Deepwarder and 6000 from the Tolcrists. Hopefully, the island also has treasure for us!
Does this help, or do you need me to create a spreadsheet for party money and expenses and put it in google drive?
Nef
Unofficial Ship's Steward of the Rita

Jacinth Deepwarder |
Been an odd/busy past day or two, so sorry for the belated response! Thank you for the vote of confidence Nef and Oren; as far as keeping Jacinth around as a PC once things are said and done, I'd love to if everyone (especially the Great Kraken) is okay with it :)
Regarding money...because I'm a goob, I forgot that Jacinth does have some pocket change and a few items that could be liquidated if need be; 42 gp, a bronze ring, and four pearls. She's also got her Deepwarder signet ring, but uh...it would take a bit of doing to get her to part with that!

Nefertiti Abdul |

More thoughts on money and the current situation -- I am hoping that we can come out of this encounter with 2-4 additional hired crew to free up Lani and Oren from the duty roster and get more sane schedules for the rest of us. Hired crew can also watch the ship while we're dealing with whatever horrors are coming out of that ancient elvish lab on Dolentla Island.
The potions we bought would have been so much cheaper if Lani could have made them. Seriously, we lost money by not hiring crew. This realization galls Nef's grasping little Qadiran heart. She inherited far more of her father's personality than she'll ever admit -- she really thinks like a merchant at times.
We cannot afford to have Oren miss sleep. He's our cannon.
Nef can make up missed sleep later, but she also needs 8 hours of sleep to cast.

Aikane Redvane |

So lets hire a bunch of elves then. Cut back on our sleep concerns.
Or y'know, liberate some slaves. They'll be thankful, right?
Seriously though,
Aikane with a blank expression on his face: "I'm a nice guy, but tell me again what you did with my share of the advance"

Nefertiti Abdul |

Elves don't get to miss out on sleep in Pathfinder the way they did in D&D. I looked this up when I first started trying to lay out the schedule, trying to figure out if we could get some flexibility by using Jacinth more...
As for liberating some slaves, yes, that is exactly what Nef is hoping we can do here.
If it will make Aikane feel better, Nef will hand Aikane every coin of the 115gp currently in her personal stash. When we get to the point in gameplay where Aikane asks us for his part of the advance, I will transfer the money to you.
And if Aikane wishes, Nef will also hand him an itemized list of expenses to date, which means that I need to put together that spreadsheet.

Jacinth Deepwarder |
I know it's been a busy weekend with Easter (and in my case, work) and such for a lot of people, but I'll try and do my best to get more posts up this week and hopefully help speed this little interlude along so we can get back to our primary objective.
As far as money goes, we'll get it worked out in the long run. Provided we can complete the mission and make it back to Port Shaw, there's plenty of money waiting for the group as Nef mentioned a few posts above. And if need be, Jacinth can chip in what little she has toward paying Bethany...though she probably won't be impressed with Aikane seeking out her services ;)

Aikane Redvane |

Jacinth, It's okay. You have one wrecked boat on your resume.
I just knew you couldn't resist that chance to sink another.
I know - I know, It'll be great for your career wrecking boats! It'll look great to other privateers.

Just a heads up: I am having LASIK surgery on Wednesday and, depending on the recovery time, I may be absent from the boards for a day or two until my eyes are healed.

Nefertiti Abdul |

Lasik? Cool! I hope you have a swift recovery, and that the surgery turns out well indeed.

Nefertiti Abdul |

Okay, we have a tentative spread sheet for Razor Coast Treasure and stuff, courtesy of my boyfriend Bret, who quickly edited one he set up for another game.
(Aikane, Zem and the Kraaken know Bret as Kakao from Lost City.)
I think it will become more useful when we have treasure to split but at least it gives everyone some idea of what our current money situation is.
Do y'all have feedback on this? Changes you want to make now, while the spreadsheet is young? Speak up!

Zemwaar |

I hope everyone had a nice Easter - I got the runaround with family and all that. All in all, quite good, and even better with the extra day off last Friday to enjoy the sunny weather.
All the best on the surgery Rata, and a swift recovery man.
Thanks to Bret for putting the spreadsheet together - I have seen very ellaborate loot sheets, but I believe in these cases, less is more (making it easier to add more stuff if necessary). So I think it looks good.

The Kraken |

::The Kraken wholeheartedly approves of the spreadsheet...as he is a lazy sea monster and it takes all of his efforts to devise new and ingenious ways to devour...::
Ahhh...skip it...I am just too gosh darn lazy to do it, he he.
Thanks again to Bret for helping Hmm out here!
PS: I am looking forward to joining up with him in the LC zone, he he.
PPS: Good luck with the Lasik surgery Rata Fenn...I found my own surgery an interesting one, as I had LASIK done on one eye and an ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens) on my other eye (due to my corneas being too thin.) Glad your surgery will go more smoother than mine did!

Oren Mitabu |

Tell Brett many thanks for his hard work, Nef! Looks great...

Hey Gang... I've updated the Razor Coast Personae file to include listings for Filthy Jack and the crew of the Iron Bastion.
So far, I'm only listing the named crew under the Iron Bastion entry rather than as individual listings. If they survive, I may give them their own separate listings too.
I'm hoping that this helps us all keep track of the people we've met to date.
Nef

Zemwaar |

Apologies for the lack of posts guys - a mix of work and family duties bore down on me for the past few days. I should be able to update tonight.

Nefertiti Abdul |

::Throws confetti in the air::
"Welcome Back, Rata! Hooray for 20 / 20 vision!"
Nef hugs Rata, and spins him around the deck. "We missed you!"

Wedjat |

Nef, you are too much. Haha. Thanks for being my one person welcome committee.
"Screeeeeeeeeeeeeee!"
ONE person welcome committee? What am I, chopped piglet?!
Wedjat pauses a moment, considering his cargo. Mmmm... tasty piglet? He looks down, hopefully, at Aikane in his claws.
Nope, better not. That piglet has fiery paws and I like my feathers UNSINGED.

Rata in this game I suffer from multiple personality disorder! :D

Nefertiti Abdul |

I just volunteered to be Ke'ahilani's guinea pig. How crazy is that?

Nefertiti Abdul |

Rata, you're made of awesome! This is why Nef normally shouldn't intimidate. I'm a poor, pale imitation of the real thing!
Does anyone have any questions to ask of Captain Scum?
