It occurs to me that Lani and Wedjat are a good fit, actually. Lani's awake when Nef's asleep, so could handle Wedjat if there's an attack when she's got a sleeping shift.

Also... Wedjat has the bombard trick, so he could drop tanglefoot bags or other Lani creations on the enemy.

Rata, it was fun reading your tactics section. It's neat to see how the other characters work here.

Thoughts on the Aikane, Zem, Oren, Ke'ahilani backstory...

I think that early posts indicated that Oren clearly recognized Zem and Aikane, not just Nef. And since Oren is one of those guys who seems to know everyone in Port Shaw, I think it likely that there was quite a bit of Pre Nef history between Aikane, Zem and Oren. There was also pre-Nef history between Zem, Aikane and Ke'ahilani. I don't think there was pre-Nef history between Ke'ahilani and Oren though judging from their meeting in gameplay.

It was fun rereading those early posts trying to figure some of this out though.

To all players,

It is with a heavy heart I must announce Rata Fenn's player is withdrawing from the game, effective immediately, due to RL issues. The Kraken will bot him until the party returns to Port Shaw, where he will take his leave of the party.

I have not decided if I will bring in a replacement character for Rata, though my first inclination is to say no, as Jacinth would be a suitable replacement in my opinion.

Feel free to chime in with your opinions, and also let's have a cup of grog here to toast Rata Fenn here!

She runs up, hugs her friend and hopes that he and his family are well.

Then she pours the grog out into the sea, offering a prayer to Whale on Rata's behalf.

I sincerely hope all turns out for the better for Rata - it is a shame to see him leave, and here's wishing that nothing serious is at the root of this.

Dolentla Island Chronology

• Early: The natives of this island turn their backs on Pele, and start worshipping something dark that requires blood sacrifices.

• Later: The elves arrive at Sammerlock Sails, build a fortress, and prepare to invade the rest of the Razor. Some elves set up a lab on Dolentla. It is unclear at this point what happened to the blood sacrificing natives who were here.

• Later still: Pele wipes out the Sammerlock Sails, killing all the elves. Perhaps killing off the last of the blood-sacrificing natives as well who spurned her.

• 20 odd years ago: Lashed Harpoon, with a cargo full of Ambergris, sinks near Dolentla Island. Perhaps sunk by a mad whale. What happened to the crew?

• Recently: Jacinth’s archaeological expedition got sunk by a maddened whale, attacked by bestial man monsters, and the crew members dragged back to the island.

Questions:

• Do the man monsters look Tulitan or Colonial?
  
• What does the insane whale or man monsters have to do with the blood-sacrificing spirit?
  
• What influence did a blood sacrificing spirit have on the Elvish lab that moved in?

nef, while I appreciate the PM regarding Aikane's health, I figured that some solid rest probably bring him back up to full.

Great Glorious Munificent Magnificent Master Kraken, tell me if I'm wrong there.

Aikane: You gain 1 hit point per level for a full 8 hours of rest in a day, and if someone succeeds on a DC 15 Heal check, that is doubled.

I would imagine 'Lani would be more than happy to help 'heal' you up, he he.

Actually, Aikane should be all the way up.

12+12+15=39, and he only took 35 hp of damage. He received two CMWs (one from Nef, one from Lani, and one CLW (from Nef.)

In Nef's case, both bits of healing were from spells cast near the end of the day and now replenished. She wouldn't want Aikane to go into Dolentla Island with less then full health.

BTW, Kraken... 1000 gameplay posts! Woo hoo!

Hey guys...The Kraken is somewhat distracted with work issues at the moment so a post from that lovable sea monster may not be until this afternoon/evening. Feel free to RP until 1200 hours. (BTW it is currently 0800 hours.)

I'm actually grateful that the whole ship isn't here. Half the team has sucky Fort saves...

And this Fort save is a bad one to fail.

Guys, I think I screwed up royally and I would like to apologize. I was trying to hold the hags for Oren, but instead appear to have gotten in the way of Oren's likely kill shot, and held up gameplay for all the rest of you today.

Think nothing of it, at least as far as I am concerned - as you were.

I wouldn't worry about it Nef; it can be difficult to keep track of positioning and turn order and everything else in a combat. Like me forgetting that Jacinth could not, in fact, see that devilfish over the side of the ship during our last combat!

Ugh. I need a vacation to recover from Paizocon!
The new place at DoubleTree Hilton is huge. My room was roughly 230 yards from the gaming area one way!
Amenities were nice though, and plenty of room for games and lectures.

Gang... I know Oren asked his question IC, but this question has to be OOC, because in Nef's mind there is only one smart plan... Daze the scary ape men before they get to you.

However smart that strategy might be, I know some of you are itching for a combat. Do you want me to stay on overwatch, and let them come to you so you can get your underwater combat? Or do you want me to daze them now and try to winnow their numbers?

I could also wait until they are almost upon you, and daze then... Dazing is no sure thing, but my hope is that bestial men might not have the best will saves. This would allow you guys to get closer before I try and slow them down.

1) Do nothing and let you have your fight -- just maintain the bardic performance

2) Daze when they are close to you -- this will require careful positioning, since I can only exclude four of the team from the daze effect.

3) Daze now, and catch as many as we can in the effect.

Let me know what you want -- I'm interested in hearing from everyone, especially Aikane and Ke'ahilani.

I doubt you can actually stop them from closing to melee.
My personal opinion is to zap any places where they clump up conveniently. And don't forget the dropable alchemist's fire!

DM, Oren is going to be travelling much of the next week. I suspect my posting will drop off considerably until next Sunday, as I have a 11 hour road trip on Tuesday, three straight days of attorney training, and then an 11 hour return road trip on Saturday. After a long sleep, I should be back to it sometime next Sunday!

I'll still post, probably once a day at least, but feel free to bot Oren as needed.

Questions to the great Kraken about the currrent map...

Are the allies, save Jacinth, all within 5 feet of one another? Are the Hawanis all within 5 feet of each other? How much space is above our heads? Does Wedjat have room to fly at all if he makes a hover check? If he doesn't that's fine, but I need to consider my tactics here.

Nefertiti: Each cell is 5' so yes all allies except for Jacinth are within 5'. All of the Hiwanis are next to one another as well. The canopy of trees extends 15' above you so Wedjat does have room to maneuver here as long as he makes his Fly checks.
