Scourge is not part of the deal. One life for one life. Unless you want to give up your life to save that ball-less lout Scourge, he stays.

Plugg looks at Scourge, who suddenly seems to let some concern seep into his features. With a smeer, the captain simply turns away and continues to move towards the doors.

Keep him...been carryin' him for years anyway.

Current HP: 28 of 28 Sylph Oracle 5

Scourge, is it? Well, Mr. Scourge, looks like your out of friends. Now kindly put your weapons down and get on your knees. I know, I know. This is going to hurt; but think about how much more it will hurt if you keep resisiting. I can't make any promises for these fellows, he continues, gesturing at his allies but I can for myself. If you give up now, I won't heal you. That means, after they do terrible things to you, I will let you die. Instead of bringing you back to have them do more terrible things. Over and over and over and over.....your choice.

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28

Plugg continues to back up, through the opening and towards the side of the ship. He backs up towards the boat, still with Tilly in tow.

Scourge holds his side as he casts hateful looks at Plugg. He spits out a curse at his former captain, then looks to Rush. Seeming to digest the implications, his angry gaze wavers with uncertainty. Wait, no...I can help ye...ye don know the first thing about running this tub. I can help ye make it disappear. Harrigan'll never find ye, with me help.

FleetFooted Halfling 39/39 hp |Loot|The Shackles Map

Scourge, you will have your chance to make us offers we cannot refuse. But right now, lay down here and shut up.

Tap, then calls out sternly to the retreating Plugg. That is far enough with Tilly. Tap points to two crewman. You and you, lower the man's boat.

Scourge looks about in desperation. He looks ready to make one last run at it and die in glory, but Rush's promise and Tap's alluding to a possible future tips the scales. With a snarl and a sigh, he drops his axe and gets down on the deck, as instructed. Belliott gets down on his haunches right next to him, his now tired but still angry and ugly mug staring down the former first mate. The violent barbarian makes a show of checking his axehead for knicks.

Plugg doesn't nod or comment, but allows Tilly to stand where she is, and steps back from her body, his sword still at her back, but his arm fully extended. Two of the crew lower the boat, and then move back. Plugg takes a tentative step back towards the railing, then turns, and rushes away quickly, no doubt suspecting a double cross.

He's flipping his body over the railing, then scampering down the ropes to the boat below.

FleetFooted Halfling 39/39 hp |Loot|The Shackles Map

Captain Taptap motion for Tilly to move away from the rail then turns to his entire crew Show of hands mates! Do we double cross that lying and murderous Plugg and get our boat back, or do we keep to our word and let him to the island alive?

Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5

Jack raises his hand uncertainly. Wait... if I raise my hand, that means we double cross, or ... it means he gets the boat?

FleetFooted Halfling 39/39 hp |Loot|The Shackles Map

I was going to decide that after they voted, Jack you ninny.
Up death

Current HP: 28 of 28 Sylph Oracle 5

Rush will go up to the side of the ship and cast slip stream to make sure that the ship can't get away, forcing it to stay stationary. If the vote goes against him, Rush will bring the boat back towards the ship.

Kroop is the first to respond among the crew, perhaps taking a bit of a leadership role among the crew in the tumultuous situation. He looks about at his fellows. Think a' what e'd do to ye, if the situation were reversed. Think ye'd be spared? He lets the question linger, then turns to Tap and nods as he raises his hand up.

The gathered crew on the main deck, one by one, raise their hands. Though some like Jape hesitate, no one wants to be the one seen as siding with the minority. As such, the feedback is unanimous - all up.

FleetFooted Halfling 39/39 hp |Loot|The Shackles Map

Taptap nods I wanted my crew with me. And I am proud. If Plugg said truly, he will find Harrigan, and he will set Harrigan after us..Best we retrofit this ship, and let the story of Man's Promise die with Plugg.

Get out the crossbows.

Tap un-slings his bow, and peers over the side at Plugg. Tap looks at Jack and Rush, and ask quietly You agree on this?

Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5

Why not? He's not one to forgive and forget. He'll be looking to make us pay as soon as he can. Besides...the bastard doesn't merit to captain such a fine dinghy. But first, ...

Jack calls down to Plugg below. Surely, you'd like a bit of something to eat before you go? Some thing to drink as well? Just you tell us what your master plans were.

Plugg smirks and scoffs. The plan was to make ye fools all swab the decks till yer hands wore down to tha' bone, then sell ye as slaves and buy better crew. Now, piss off!

Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5

Think you that such news is worth even a mouthful of piss? More! Where is Captain Harrigan going, and where did you plan to rendezvous?

intimidate: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23

Current HP: 28 of 28 Sylph Oracle 5

I can hold you hear for a long time Plugg. Think of your next words carefully.

Intimidate Aide: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Apparently his control slips a little when he says it, but not a lot. Failed to give Aide.

Rush looks at Tap and says in response, I care not for these men, I do not know them. Do as you will. I should be able to hold the boat in place for almost an hour.

Plugg can read the gazes of the crew that were looking down upon him, and no doubt heard some of the cries rallying for his death. He looks up at the railing, then tries the boat, finding it held fast in place. With a curse, he follows the only path left open to him, in his mind, and dives off of the boat and into the water.

Rush, from what you said, you cast the spell on the boat, but not on Plugg. I dig the adaptation of the spell, by the way. He'd still be able to swim away, though, outside of the boat. Once he dives, he's under and probably will remain so until far away from the boat - though still within Xbow range.

Current HP: 28 of 28 Sylph Oracle 5

Yes sir, you are correct in that. And thank you for the compliment. Rush, at this point, will simply begin to try and haul the boat back aboard the ship, thinking of other things.

FleetFooted Halfling 39/39 hp |Loot|The Shackles Map

Rush, shall we call forth a octopus? Or may have use of your wand?

Have it, if you wish. It belongs to the group, as far as I'm concerned.

I've been keeping charges updated in my section of the loot sheet you created.

FleetFooted Halfling 39/39 hp |Loot|The Shackles Map

Taptap gives Rush an odd look, but nods. Jack and I into the boat after him. Cross bows, if you get a shot at him, pull the trigger. Tap looks at Scourge Bind him. Tap then hops over the side, Tacktack fast behind.

Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5

Jack takes a crossbow and a handful of bolts and follows after Tap.

Jack looks at the weapon thoughtfully. I think its time I learned how to use one of these things properly.

Hey Rush!! I don't suppose you can give us a push out toward Plugg with that funny wave of yours.

Current HP: 28 of 28 Sylph Oracle 5

Rush replies, his full attention still elsewhere for the moment. Very well. But hurry back when you're through, before any remaining grindylows smell the blood. I wish to be gone from this island forever.

Rush will then push the boat forward, spell gives it 20 ft movement speed. Let's all thank the DM for being so kind as to let me use the spell slipstream in such a creative manner; which really means I forgot exactly how it worked and it shouldn't have been able to do what Rush is using it for. Thank you MR. GM.

Jack is up, then Plugg, Rush, then the rest.

Plugg makes his way through the water, just under the surface, but still barely visible.

Plugg will have partial concealment due to the water, and keep in mind that any ranged attacks have a -2 when fired into water.

Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5

cross-bow: 1d20 + 12 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 12 - 2 = 20

Jack's arrow slips into the water and, though the trajectory is slightly distorted through the liquid, it still looks as if it hits, as more blood rises in the water, to mix with that which Plugg is already casting about in a cloud.

Plugg swim check: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8

Plugg swim check: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27

Plugg swims through the water, gaining distance on his pursuers

That being said, he only moves at half his speed, so thirty feet. Everyone else is up!

FleetFooted Halfling 39/39 hp |Loot|The Shackles Map

Tap fires two shots over at Plugg. If you weren't such an evil bastard 'd feel sorry for you Plugg.

Ninny, Rush is moving us forward. But ou can row if you want to get closer.

Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5

Jack lets loose another bolt from his crossbow, and curses.

cross-bow: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (6) + 8 - 2 = 12
damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2

Tap's arrows fly in next, and the second is a telling strike. It hits so solidly that the fletchings protrude off of the surface of the water, sticking up and at an angle. They slowly rise, then Plugg's back surfaces....and floats, unmoving.

Seconds later, several bolts fly down at the body, peppering it further. Moments later, a rousing cheer sounds out from the deck, as the pirates celebrate their much anticipated liberation from the sadistic thug.

Well done! 500 XP awarded in the campaign thread. Of note - Plugg had on his person a fine cutlass and perhaps some hidden tricks or trinkets. Now...enjoy your ship.

FleetFooted Halfling 39/39 hp |Loot|The Shackles Map

Taptap drags Plugg from the water. This looks like a nice cutlass. We should search him for letters, maps, loot and such.

Taptap begins by casting detect magic, and with each item casts it again. Tap take his time, goes through each pocket, feels cloth for hidden items, pulls off boots and checks for hidden compartments, and so on. Tacktack gives everything a second look over just to make sure Tap didn't miss anything.

Once he was done, he pushes the dead man back into the sea.

Make sure the gunner doesn't die Taptap calls out to his crew.

Current HP: 28 of 28 Sylph Oracle 5

While Tap is looting the corpse, Rush begins pulling the boat back towards the ship. He calls out to them, Can this not be done later? Maybe after we've set sail? I desperately wish to never see this island again.

Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5

Jack will take a 20 on perception.
I'd rather not have Plugg stinking up the ship, Rush.

Tap finds the following things of worth:
Cat-o-nine tails (seems mundane, but masterwork)
Cutlass (magical)
Potion (magical)
Bolts (3) (magical)
10 standard bolts (probably just enough to replace those that peppered his body at the end...)
Amulet (magical)
Bracers (magical)
Shackles (magical)
Leather cup (nonmagical)
Small purse with his betting stash - 100 SP and 200 GP

A chest within the captain's cabin contains a quite impressive haul of gems, trinkets, and coins. A quick estimate puts it at a few thousand GP in value

The Man's Promise holds plunder goods as well Working out the details so I can give you a starting plunder value

Current HP: 28 of 28 Sylph Oracle 5

Later that day, when everything has settled down some (from the killing anyway, I imagine there will be a party soon), Rush finds himself at the railing of the ship, watching the island disappear behind them. He holds the holy symbol of Aroden he wears around his neck as he speaks,
Well, here we are. Looks like I'm going to be a pirate, least for a while. Maybe I shouldn't be surprised. You've never answered a damn thing I've said to you. And don't go all "I'm dead you idiot" on me, we both know that ain't real. But someone has been speaking to me for years now, and I've politely declined him because mom always wanted me to follow you. But looks like that's not going to happen. So hopefully you find someone you like better to wear this, I'll drop it off at the next port of call, see if anyone picks it up. He slips the necklace up and over his neck, tucking the holy symbol into his pocket. He glances out to the sea and sky and continues, Alright, you've got me. But understand this, don't expect me to get all "convert others" or anything like that. I'll be on your side as long as it works out for both of us. Rush gives another stern look, then nods his head. After all this, he turns to walk back over to the rest of the crew and uses his weather savy ability as he does.

Looks like clear weather mates. Let's go be bad guys.

Rush has changed his deity from Aroden to Gozreh.

Sunyata:
You'd been through a great deal, that was true...between your mother's casting you off, your father's viciousness and hate, and now the latest lot you've drawn - the life of a squibber. A squibber was one that worked on refitting ships into what one calls a "Squib." Many pay good gold to have this done, as its common for ships to change hands through treachery and then have a wish to disappear.

Luckily for you, you've come to find work in one of the most famous squibbers around - Rickety Squibs. Famous, sure...but nearly impossible to find as it was under a jungle canopy and behind the protruding headland at the end of a nameless river. Only those with the direct purpose for being there, and the contacts to show one the way, ever arrive at Rickety Squibs, and they certainly pay dearly for the service.

Today, you are stationed at the top of the watchtower - no more than a covered platform some 60 feet high atop wooden poles and accessed by a crude stair. Typically, one-armed Lyle Godwin and his trained parrot, Rotgot, would be here in the hammock watching for incoming vessels. But, today, Lyle was instead trying to show you the "lay of the land."

He incessantly pointed out useless landmarks and rambled on about their importance...which was really not importance, in your opinion. But, he was the "boss" for the day.

FleetFooted Halfling 39/39 hp |Loot|The Shackles Map

A fully drunk Taptap has a happy grin on his face. Tacktack puts another grape to his lips, and he sighs contentedly. He stares at the dwindling sun, the fair breeze caressing the day's sweat and worry away.

With a sudden grin, If we fail to sail laudably, we will have to rename our ship The Oncoming Stern

Current HP: 28 of 28 Sylph Oracle 5

Having little else to do in the mean time, Rush will sit down with each piece of magical gear and try to determine it's function (essentially taking 20 for each of them). This gives him a 24 on the spell craft. If you'll allow it to be mixed with guidance, a 25.

Cutlass
Potion
Bolts
Amulet
Bracers
Shackles

Tidewater Cutlass - a +1 cutlass that can, once per day, cast hydraulic push

Potion - cure moderate wounds

Bolts of screaming

Amulet of natural armor +1

Bracers of armor +1

Shackles of compliance

FleetFooted Halfling 39/39 hp |Loot|The Shackles Map

Was Scourge searched?
He may be wearing some fancy shackles soon.

Shadow Lodge

male Husband 2/ Master of Dungeons 3/ Souless Corporate Lackey 2

Rush puts on the amulet. He then tells everyone else what he found about the other gear. Well, it seems Mr. Plug was well equipped. Jack, I can change the command word on the gutless if you'd like. Right now it is set to " Plugg is the best". I don't have a crossbow either. Anyone want the bracers?

Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5

Hey hey, Jacky boy has a new toy. Jack says, admiring the blade.

Well, thank you Rush... Jack stops to think a bit. Plugg always did remind him of dear old dad. Let it be instead, "Papa, Have Mercy!", because not a drop of mercy did he ever show me, that drunken bastard.

Scourge has a few items on his person, which he relinquishes with a disgusted snarl. Kipper has nothing of specific note save his common gear; he offers his readily, even painfully walking over to place it in a neat pile. He then walks, still hunched, to Owlbear, takes his club and tosses it onto the stack.

Scourge's loot (all identified - no need to roll, since the outcome is inevitable)
Potion of Blur
Potion of CLW
Black adder venom (2 vials - 1 application each)
Masterwork handaxe
8 doses of oil of taggit
6 gold teeth worth about 30 GP total
leather snuff box studded with a diamond worth about 100 GP
1 dose of dark reaver powder (in the snuff box)
A silver wedding ring worth 25 GP
14 PP, 29 GP misc coin

FleetFooted Halfling 39/39 hp |Loot|The Shackles Map

You married Scourge?

Scourge snorts and spits a bit of blood on the deck, then turns to look out to sea, no answer forthcoming.

FleetFooted Halfling 39/39 hp |Loot|The Shackles Map

You may think I plan to kill you. Scourge. In truth, I have not decided. I need capable men. But I'm not sure that you'd rather be a good swab than a dead ass.
