Intriguing - no objections from me!
Reginald T'jener
No problems here.

Hi DM - that link takes me to the previous map, not to one with any tokens. Is it working for everyone else?
Nurin Jarnthane
Agreed. I just get the hex map.
Also, I have some visitors in town, so I may be a little slow in posting this week. If need be, please act for Nurin.
Pravic Stoneblood
I've got what looks like an overland (underland?) map, but i don't see any tokens. Sorry if I am not doing it right! If anyone else has it figured out please let me know... :)
Reginald T'jener
I see a hex map with tunnel markings, but no tokens
Reginald T'jener
GM: Is it possible to link that map under your name? Please? Makes it much easier to find.
Reginald T'jener
It does, thankee

I have to say, I have been doing PbP now for around 3-4 months, and the roleplay that comes out of it is exactly what I imagined tabletop RPGs was intended to be, without the awkward roleplaying at the table. This group is already lots of fun to interact with, I can't wait to see where this story goes.
I (finally) updated my backstory to reflect the character and personality that Pravic turned into during the funeral scene. I plan on slowly adding more as he develops and changes throughout this story. Keep up the good RP everyone!
Bali Tharnhammer
I agree 100% Pravic. It seems what is lost in PbP is more than made up for by the ease with which RP comes. I think it has mostly to do with the fact that I can come up with a set of actions in as much time as I want. There is no push to do as much content of an adventure in a 6-8 hour window every other week.
Reginald T'jener
+1 there, Bali. I like my table game for the excitement of the combat. I come here for the actual roleplay. :)
Pravic Stoneblood
You guys hit the nail on the head.
I have described PBP as similar to having music on in the background. Its like having pathfinder on in the background all day. You go about your day and occasionally check to see if something new is posted, and get to mull over your thoughts and actions for a little while before posting.
Reginald T'jener
No worries. Crazy happens. :)
GM Olmek
Unfortunately, we have another player dropping out. Kalderin decided that his playing style didn't quite sync up enough with the rest of the group, so he's decided to bow out.
Thankfully, he's been very transparent with me, so I've managed to secure another player from the pool of applicants. Lothar Graelson is the next dwarf up!
I hope that we're still early enough in the game that just swapping players doesn't break your suspension of disbelief too much, as I'd rather just pretend like Lothar has been with the party the entire time.
I'll let him explain what his role in the party will be.
Reginald T'jener
No worries here. I'm good at suspending my disbelief. :)
Grimdahl Tharnhammer
Same - welcome, newcomer-who-has-always-been-here! :)
Pravic Stoneblood
In my group's RL games, we have a tendancy to do that alot. No sense in making life difficult when the easiest solution is to just pretend he was here all along.
Welcome Lothar!! Glad to have you with us!
Lothar Graelson
Cheers all. GM, can you check my permissions for the game... think you need to tick me as a player again manually.
As you might recall, Lothar is joining the expedition by virtue of his family's hefty debts being called in on the death of Magnar Tharnhammer.
Any one of your families (or the Tharnhammers themselves) could have called in the debt; and Lothar was pressed into duty to go towards the debt, acting as bodyguard for one (or more) of the other PC's.
Thoughts?
Reginald T'jener
I can see either the Tarnhammers themselves doing that or, if the present Tarnhammers feel that doesn't fit them, Reginald would have totally called in a favor like that.
Pravic Stoneblood
I think Pravic wouldn't require a body guard (and wouldn't ask for one), but I could totally see any of us calling in the favor specifically for Reginald, if he didn't beat us to it... I think that makes the most sense for the group.
GM Olmek
Hey all. I'm still new to GMing PbP games and that is especially apparent when it comes to pacing. I need to learn how to let players make decisions and when I need to just change scenes to keep things flowing nicely.
I'll be moving everything forward as soon as possible tomorrow. Thanks for being patient with me. :)
Pravic Stoneblood
No worries GM!
I think there always seems to be a feeling out process of the players and the GM. In general I don't think anyone would have too much issue if you push the pace forward. I know I wouldn't.
In the worst case, if you push the story and I still wanted to respond to something that would be considered past tense, I will just write kind of a two part post. one part as if it was earlier in the thread, and the second part responding to the new development (if that makes sense)
Speaking for myself, In general I am not worried about missing out on some action for the sake of moving the story along. I personally enjoy the part of RPGs where the players have to deal with the consequences of failure, I think it adds to the personality of the characters and the flavor of the story. If some of those consequences are because I didn't post soon enough, well then bring it on :)
Does that make sense or was that just pointless rambling?
Reginald T'jener
Makes total sence. I'm of the same camp. Just assume that Reginald has gotten lost in thought and drifted off if I miss something. :P
Pravic Stoneblood
I say this only based on my limited PbP experience, I think you will notice that you have the most control over the pace of play as the GM. I too check the thread constantly, so I find myself trying to restrain so as not to post too often and take over all the time.
Of course, I have never GM'd a PbP, so I might have no idea what I am talking about.
Biggest thing is this, don't worry about offending me if you "take too much control" or start pushing things faster. You pretty much can't offend me or upset me. I am way to easy going, and this character is going to be way to much fun to play for me to waste time getting bothered by... pretty much anything.
I feel pretty confident in speaking for the others that we all probably feel pretty much the same way. You aren't going to hurt anyone's feelings :)
Reginald T'jener
I tend to post a comment on the happenings, then be done unless there is something specific my character can do or respond to. If needed, I do past/future posts to keep up. So moving things along will rarely affect me negatively.
