I'm enjoying Angalia and this game hugely, I must say.

Hey guys,

Apologies for my unexpected absence over the past few days. For those who haven’t heard, I abruptly lost my job earlier in the week. Times are going to be tough for a bit – my wife has just started working for three days a week after coming off 18 months maternity leave, so we fortunately have some income, but we pretty much burnt through our savings over the past 18 months so … hopefully I will find something soon. My industry is starting to be pretty badly affected by the financial uncertainty in Europe and elsewhere, but I’m sure something will come up. Circumstances may keep me away from Paizo more than normal though – not sure yet. Apologies in advance for any upcoming delays or slow downs. Please act for my character where required, or forgive slow GM updates as the case may be.

Anyway, this post is not meant to air my misery or garner sympathy, it is to express wonderment and heartfelt thanks to this fantastic community. Some far too generous person or persons who chose to stay anonymous have sent me a likewise far too generous gift certificate to help me keep up my AP subscription during this time. I can’t know for certain, but I suspect the person (or persons) is either a FAWTLy and / or in one of my pbp games. If you were behind this, thankyou so much, it is truly fantastic of you.

It's awesome that someone did that for you so you could keep your subscriptions, though.

Thanks guys. The fact that people here would do such a nice thing for someone they've never met ... Well, it really lifted me up when I found out this morning, I had been feeling very down prior to that.

Early days on the job hunt so far - it doesn't look great out there, but I should be able to pick up a short term contract at least. Hopefully.

I agree, this online community that we live in is truly wonderful. It's been a little over two years since I became active in this community and in that time, I've learned that the lines between friends you've met face to face and friends you've never met except online have disappeared.

I do not hesitate a second to reach out to do whatever I can do from afar to help an online friend in need. I call each of you friend, not online friend. Through forums, such as these games, the FAWTL thread, facebook (yes facebook), I have learned and shared a lot just as if you all lived next door.

So in the end, it does not surprise me in the least that someone would go so far as to make an anonymous contribution to you through this difficult time. (It wasn't me).

Best of luck in your job search, if there is anything we can do to help either through job search hints, resume reviews, or just someone to vent frustration to, we are all here for you. You are not imposing.

In other news, I spoke with Jeremy who, as some of you know, is going through a difficult time right now.

For the time being, I will be controlling Urdrin (although may let others do so in any remaining combats in the confines of this dungeon), and at an appropriate point, I will be putting him in a "semi-retirement" for the possibility that Jeremy is able to rejoin us in the future.

With Fatespinner's departure, that brings the party down to 5. While that isn't a bad number, I have someone in mind I may invite to be a 6th, to shake things up a little...

FYI - I've invited Treppa to join the game as a 6th PC, with the retirement of Erfan and Urdrin. I've played in other PbPs with her, and I love what she brings to a game. She's excited, and I think it will be fun to have some new blood. I don't plan on inviting a 7th, as 7 was probably too many PCs to begin with.

It's true; I'm tickled about joining an active pbp with some of my favorite folks. :D

For the record, I fully disclosed the dangers of paladinhood in Ravenloft. But it kind of just makes things even more fun...

That's why I was wondering if I had the format wrong. It's not hard, but 3 3's? Shelyn feels distant indeed in this terrible place.

Seems unchivalrous to doubt Shelyn's providence and take the average. ;) However, discretion may be the better part of valor. That would give me 6 hp per level, correct?

Jess, I really dig Myth Weaver for the character sheet and stat block generation. It requires a little bit of jiggering for the Paizo boards, but it's very nice overall! Thanks for the heads-up.

Hey all, many apologies for my unexpected absence. This whole job hunting thing is tedious and depressing, and I’ve found myself getting easily distracted from it. At the beginning of last week I decided to buckle down, promised myself that I would not log on to Paizo until I had sent out some letters, made some job applications and finished up my portfolio … well, what I had estimated I would get done in about two days stretched out to more than a week.

Anyway, I’m back now and will try to catch up soon. Apologies for any inconvenience.

If you are wondering about Spindle's stash, I audited the wealth-by-level for all 5 of you who are staying on and planted appropriate loot. I seem to recall that Eliva and Tiffana were particularly destitute, and Nathaniel as well to a lesser extent, but there's nice shiny things for Res and Angalia, too.

Which she will sift through with pleasure once we're safely out of the crumbling building.

Not at all. I think that is what CH intended. He mentioned up thread that you were a little light in the treasure department.

And we just ran into Yuri again in the cellar. Fortunately, he was still alive after his run in with Spindle and we were able to pull him to safety before building collapsed.

You should all assign out that treasure on this thread. You don't want it going to waste.

I'll be traveling and training until Saturday with limited time for posting. Go ahead and direct Res's actions if you need to. Also, I'm fine with however you divide up the loot. I think the one wand was intended for Res. I don't need anything else. Do you mind if Res keeps the ring of protection +1 he found in the funhouse?
