She is not Hindered and Vulnerable because she has Improved Grab. For future reference, Edit Scene would be more along the lines of gaining a weapon or tool that is very advantageous at that moment and is thematically appropriate. A spare devil-bane weapon used for torturing minions that have displeased the Master, that sort of thing.

DM_Lazer_Beam |

Baker, your BBE randomly picked you as it's target which not only activates your normal "Accident" complication but also added the complication of the Darjekian bane weapons the boss has. So you receive an additional Hero Point because the BBE targeted you.

Timeline |

Timeline teleports out of the grapple and into the north east pile of gold and begins frantically filling his pockets.
The fools wont get my treasure its all mine!! Oh how I love treasure its nearly as amazing as I am!
Timeline continues to babble on about how great treasure is and how much he loves it.
will: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (17) + 0 = 17

Risen Fate |

Hero Points tally:
-1 spent on Beginner's Luck
-2 spent to ignore exhaustion
-1 gained from BBE
Luck Point tally:
-1 spent to reroll Power Attack (BBE needed)

DM_Lazer_Beam |

BBE Target: 1d4 ⇒ 1
BBE Ally - Type: 1d2 ⇒ 1
BBE Ally Random Power Type: 1d6 ⇒ 6
BBE Ally Target: 1d4 ⇒ 2 1=Joe; 2=Risen Fate; 3=Timeline; 4=Wild Fire
BBE Enemy: 1d12 ⇒ 7
BBE Neutral: 1d4 ⇒ 2
BBE Environment Target: 1d2 ⇒ 1
BBE Environment Intensity: 1d2 ⇒ 2
BBE Environment Type: 1d5 ⇒ 4
BBE Environment Structure Target: 1d4 ⇒ 1
BBE Environment Structure Type: 1d6 ⇒ 1
BBE Rank: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
BBE targets Risen Fate with a complication, earning him an extra HP...and something bad. His Jackpot goes away?
Erukai's Toughness: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27 vs. DC 28 Lucky Punch
Erukai's Toughness: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15 vs. DC 28 Lucky Punch
Erukai's Toughness: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12 vs. DC 28 Lucky Punch
Risen Fate does the unthinkable and charges the dreaded demoness. In an amazing display of flying fists, he is able to deliver a devastating one-in-a-million hit to her jaw, knocking her unconscious!
Bruise, Bruise and Staggered, Bruise and Incapacitated
Unfortunately the tax on him is great and he seems somehow...less sure of his combat capabilities. BBE turns off your current Jackpot ability as yet another complication. You gain one Hero Point for activating a BBE and another because the BBE affected you.
Timeline, begins to grab handfuls of coins...and triggers the trap door! Only quick reflexes can save him from plummeting into the lava below! Dodge save DC 15 or be forced to make a DC 25 Toughness save vs. the lava.
Wild Fire surrounds Joe in a barrier of hardened lava 1 ft. thick, protecting him temporarily from Legion.
Joe finishes the Rite of Absolution on the third Soul Chain dispersing the souls to their rightful places in Hell. The Heart of Darkness swells with power unimaginable...

Timeline |

Timeline triggers the trap and trys to avoid falling.
dodge: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
looks like lava it is.
Timeline falls but seems to pause in mid air for a second and pulls out a little sign that say yikes! before falling into the lava.
toughness: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25

Rabbi Joseph Fankenburg |

nice job on that lava save timeline
wildfire, its free, should you grab it or should i, it probably corrupts those who handle it. well i'll try
I grab that heart and await bad things to happen to me for handling the piece of an old one.

Devil 3 Athletics: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18 vs. DC 20 Magma Cage
Devil 3 Toughness: 1d20 + 5 - 1 ⇒ (8) + 5 - 1 = 12 vs. DC 18 Magma Cage
Devil 3 Spine: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14 vs. AC 13 Risen Fate; DC 21
Devil 5 Team Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 221d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 141d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25 vs. AC 13 Risen Fate; DC 21 (+2 if all of them hit)
Devil 2 Glaive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 151d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 5 + 2 = 21 vs AC 19 Wild Fire; DC 21
Devil 4 Glaive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 81d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 5 + 2 = 23 vs AC 19 Wild Fire; DC 21
With Erukai down, the Battle Dome goes with it. It's the forcefield she enacted to prevent trans-dimensional escape.
Devil 3, still unable to free itself, fires a spine at Risen Fate. DC 21 Toughness save needed versus Spine. Only Erukai had the Darjekian-bane so no penalty to saves vs. the normal Devils.
Devil 5, 5, and 5 surround Risen Fate in an attempt to overwhelm him. One of them attacks Risen Fate's blind spot!
Need a Toughness save vs. DC 28 Team Attack. One of them crit which is the main reason the DC is so high. Luck Point used already this round to re-roll your Power Attack, let me know if you are using an HP to make them all re-roll.
Devils 2 & 4 hiss in anger and flank Wild Fire gaining a circumstanstial bonus to hit. Need 2 Toughness saves vs. DC 21 from the Devil's attacks.
Again the Blue Crystals emit their insidious glow.
Need Will saves from Risen Fate and Wild Fire. Joe is immune to the mind-affecting effect and Timeline is too far away at the moment.
MAP UPDATED

Timeline |

Timeline appears sitting on the altar next to the heart then touches it and Joe and ports himself, Joe and the heart to the room where we started from when we were brought here.
Come with me if you want to live! I always wanted to say that.
Wildfire, Fate get together now if you can so I can come back and grab you together I got joe and the heart and ill be back for you in a flash.

~Wild Fire~ |

Will: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Toughness against #2: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Toughness against #4: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Not sure what that's going to do...
If I can, I raise my hands, once again trapping all the free devils (2, 4, and all 3 of the 5s) in magma. If I can still move, I move towards Fate.
Guess I'm a one trick pony today. How are you doing cowboy?

Risen Fate |

Sorry for the late post, I've been a bit stressed these last few days...
I'll make all the demons within 30' of me reroll their attacks. Hero Point spent.
Toughness Save against 3: 1d20 + 11 - 1 ⇒ (15) + 11 - 1 = 25
Toughness Save against 5: 1d20 + 11 - 1 ⇒ (4) + 11 - 1 = 14, I think I'll reroll that with another hero point.
reroll against 5: 1d20 ⇒ 6 => 16 + 11 - 1 = 26
I'm mostly out of harms way and can probably keep them busy for another few seconds. If Timeline comes, take the chance and get out of here! I'm going to go Jackie Chan on these guys as soon as I get a good opening to keep them off of you!
Will save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21, Mental fortitude still holding strong, it seems.
Baker smiles while ducked behind defensive fists.
And for the record, I consider myself more of a Rough Rider. It'll take more than a few punches from these potato-heads to bring me down.
Total HP spent this turn: 2

DM_Lazer_Beam |

Devil 3 Spine: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24 vs. AC 13 Risen Fate; DC 21
Devil 5 Team Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 191d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 201d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12 vs. AC 13 Risen Fate; DC 21 (1 Degree of success overall adds +2; 3 degrees or more adds +5)
Apparently already rolled twice for the Devil 2 and 4 and didn't catch it. They both miss.
RE-ROLLS
Devil 3's am is true but Risen Fate deflects the Spine at the last second.
Devils 5, 5, and 5 find Risen Fate prepared for their pincer maneuver and only two of them manage to land glancing blows. Superficial wounds only. You made the save vs. their team attack.
Devils 2 & 4's flanking maneuver fails to hit! No damage to Wild Fire.

~Wild Fire~ |

Woo!
No way, you're going first and don't pull that ladies first crap or I will actually burn through that costume of yours.
I'd still like to put up magma cages and get to Fate when it's my turn.

Risen Fate |

Alright, if you're still set on coming to me then I'll just hunker down and take a few more hits.
Jackpot: All Hearts: 1d20 ⇒ 10
Crap. Reroll that.
Hero Point spent to reroll Jackpot: All Hearts: 1d20 ⇒ 6
Crap crap. Apparently I'm not supposed to defend. The universe wants me to go down swinging...
Hero Point spent to retry Jackpot: All Spades: 1d20 ⇒ 20
Woa, I guess we're back in business!
There's just too many to defend effectively...
Forget this! I saw Bruce Lee do this once!
Pulling every ounce of energy his muscles can muster, Baker fights back the onslaught of demons and through Extreme Effort once again makes a series of furious swings at his tormenters.
All-out Power Attack against demon 5: 1d20 + 8 + 5 - 5 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 8 + 5 - 5 + 2 = 18, Damage DC28
All-out Power Attack against demon 5: 1d20 + 8 + 5 - 5 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 8 + 5 - 5 + 2 = 30, Damage DC28
All-out Power Attack against demon 5: 1d20 + 8 + 5 - 5 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 8 + 5 - 5 + 2 = 30, Damage DC28
Holy balls this game soooo wants me to be a striker hahahah, three 20's to make attacks against these guys and two fails at defense. Yup, I think the fates have plans for me.
Tally: Dazed, Impaired, Hindered, -1 to all saves, -2 to all checks (until rested), -2 to all defenses (1 round), 2 Hero Points Spent. I will not spend my last two unless needed and will stay exhausted and staggered for now.

Rabbi Joseph Fankenburg |

holy shark repellent batman, three nat 20's in one post. geeze i wished i had your luck Risen, and how long ago did you take down the boss ion 1 round. way to go!. also Wildfire, happy birthday

Devil Dodge: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23 vs. DC 20 Magma Cage
Risen Fate's Kung-Fu is stronger than his opponents as he delivers spine-shattering punches. The one you didn't crit is KOed, the other 2 are Bruised and Staggered.
Timeline appears momentarily next to Joe who quickly grabs the Heart before all three are teleported to safety.
Wild Fire causes even more magma to rise from the ground to entrap the Devils. All but one of the 5's is caught by the Magma Cages.

WE ARE LEGION!
Wounded but not beat, the Devils known as Legion break free of their Cages simultaneously and prepare to counterattack...only to be stopped by an apparent earthquake.
All of their heads turn to focus on a single point in the distance, their heads cocked as if listening to something. All of the Devils immediately fly out of the throne room at top speed. The low-level earthquake continues unabated...
Perception checks from RF and WF.

~Wild Fire~ |

Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13 This is going to be great -_-
Also, I'm going to be in Alpena tonight, through Saturday, and then Sunday afternoon. I won't have internet. If you need Wild Fire to make an action and it can't wait, just control her.

Risen Fate |

Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Hey, uh, Wildfire? Can you help me up? I am having a really hard time concentrating on things and there's a weird ringing in my ears. Also, pretty much everything hurts...
Baker flashes a painful, half-grin and looks towards the retreating demons.
...and I would hazard a guess that we're going to have company in just a few moments given the reaction of those demons. I don't think it'll be pretty either...
And this wistwood stuff is itchy. Or that could just be the blood loss talking. Either way, just one more thing to my very short list of things that are going to probably kill me soon... itchy can't be a good sign.
Now what was that incantation again? Shelzar...Transistus...Amicitus, I think? Hmm... I wonder what happens if I say it now...couldn't possibly make this day any worse, and it might bring a bad day to that Lord Sing guy.
Basically, if I'm just guessing what types of things should I try guessing?
Expertise Arcana: 1d20 + 1 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (9) + 1 + 5 - 2 = 13

Timeline |

Timeline ports in to the room next to wildfire and risen fate putting his hands on their shoulders and using turnabout teleports them back to the room with Joe and the heart.
Time to go
Timeline and the others pop back into the room.
Joe the heart! Lets get the "this place" out of here!

Risen Fate |

Question for you, Baker winces at the teleport landing.
I think I've got that incantation down, but I don't know about controlling it yet. I'll need a few more moments to wrap my head around it, so to speak, if we want more control. Otherwise, we're at the mercy of that Lord Sing guy. Do we want to risk it?

Timeline |

Im not sure magic alludes me,but what happened to those demons? We might not have the time for you to figure it out!
expertise history: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (2) + 13 = 15 Do I know anything helpful about the heart or how it works. yuck nat 2 this game hates me fate gets nat twenys three in one round i get a 2 lol

DM_Lazer_Beam |

Wild Fire isn't able to tell much about the earthquake, but Risen Fate does catch a glimpse of...something moving in the distance. A lone figure seems to be making it's way towards the throne room...at a breakneck speed. Several small devilish figure perch atop the figure's shoulder, tiny gnats in comparison. As Risen Fate watches, the figure reaches the river of lava...and leaps it in one bound.
The quaking gets more severe.

Shade of Ithran |

Rule One: Third incantation is the same length as Amicitus.

Risen Fate |

Timeline, before you port us out of here I'm going to give this a portal creation a shot. If things go bad and all hell breaks loose, literally, at least this Lord Sing guy will be on the receiving end of it.
Unless anyone objects, has a better idea or stops me, I'll create a portal in the middle of the throne room, or rather try to. If someone interjects with valid reasons I'll reconsider.
Shelzar! Transistus! Amicitus!

Rabbi Joseph Fankenburg |

we could always use any other name from our world and then just travel to maximum city by abusing timelines teleport. Sling would not expect that, but we would need the name of literally any spot on earth in Darjekian

DM_Lazer_Beam |

Risen Fate speaks the words of power and an obsidian gateway appears against the far wall. Beyond the gate is another room, much like the throne room but filled with assorted jewels, gold coins, ornate weaponry, and artifacts. Glowing words are displayed along the gateway's arch:
A M I C I T U S
Does not appear to offer an escape route but did seem to open up a secret room. Lord Sinh did mention needing the Heart before being "allowed" to leave.
The quaking stops momentarily and an angry bellow can be heard nearby, SIIIIIINNNNNHHHHHH!!!!
MAP UPDATED

Rabbi Joseph Fankenburg |

just spit balling since i'm not there according to the map, the A, M, and S are the correct letter in the correct spot and the U is correct letter but wrong spot, a la mastermind board game. and the incantation has no I, C, or ts in it. it could still have additional a, m or s in other places. why don't you try something like amugedos, as it introduces two new vowels to know if they are in there, and can try to correctly place the u and get two new consonants. i could be wrong with the bold and italics mixed up.

Risen Fate |

Distraction. We can figure things out while Singh deals with his new friend. There were no real objections so I went for it...

Risen Fate |

To make sure I'm clear here and we're all on the same page: I created the portal to try it out and see what would happen when I used the incantation. I did it in the throne room to possibly buy us some time to go somewhere else and spend a moment to see what we wanted to do with the orb, while Big-N-Nasty hopefully takes a moment to ponder the portal and maybe even try to force his way through to Lord Singh. When we figure out what we want to do, I was going to create a second instance of the portal that we could go through. If this is a bad plan, we can always just jump through now and see what's on the other side.

DM_Lazer_Beam |

Timeline stops his turn at Risen Fate's behest so he can test the portal. The portal opens a previously hidden room filled with treasures but otherwise appear to be a normal doorway. Wild Fire stays close to Timeline to be ready to teleport away.
As the three wayward heroes watch the portal spring to life, the thundering...stops.
A darkness deeper than death overshadows the throne room as Izzak, the Demonlord steps inside. The creature before you is the size of a giant, his muscles oversized even for his frame. His weapon trails the heads of demons and saints alike, a freshly severed devilish head at the end of the ...sinew?!...that he uses to tie the horrid fetish together.
Izzak's head is naught but the fleshless skull of an ox with two bright pinpricks of blue fire smoldering in the lifeless sockets. A wicked crown of similar blue fire adorns his head.
Simply standing in this abomination's presence causes even the most stalwart of men and angels alike to weep tears of blood and to be unable to land any blow on this creature.
Will save vs. his Dominion Aura from Wild Fire, Risen Fate, and Timeline. This is a fear effect.
Izzak raises one hand and a globe of Blue Fire begins to grow in his hand as he concentrates. His frame currently blocks the doorway and he seems unconcerned at the death of his Mistress of Chains.
1 Degree of failure (25-29) and you are Fatigued and Vulnerable as you weep tears of blood.
2 Degrees of failure (24 or less) and you are so filled with fear at his mere presence that you physically cannot make any attack at Izzak, even attacks that would place Izzak in an area of effect cannot be completed. Abilities that do not deal damage but debilitate or hinder in other ways are likewise excluded.
Only powerful entities of the heavens or those that are completely fearless can withstand Izzak's Dominion Aura.

Rabbi Joseph Fankenburg |

was the mistress of chains the leader of this layer of hell or is it this guy/ i realize i am not here so it doesn't really matter, just curious.

DM_Lazer_Beam |

I had mentioned earlier that Izzak the Demonlord was the guardian of this layer of hell. He is the leader, not the Mistress. She was just his lieutenant and head torturer.
Because Risen Fate technically goes before Timeline in initiative, he was able to open the portal as a test and then Timeline was able to whisk both away before Izzak came striding up. The three in the throne room still get a fleeting glimpse of the dude but are exempt from making the will save...for now. MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
You are all back in the cellar. The Heart continues to pulse with a maddening beat.
Each of you hears whispers inside of your head. I...will grant you...your deepest...wish. Just...let me...IN!
If you choose to accept it's gift, reduce your Sanity by 1 and gain 1 Dark Power Point. If you refuse, increase your # of Stability rolls by 1.

Risen Fate |

Ah, that solves some of the confusion.
I refuse! I've got more than enough random people talking in my head as it is!
+1 Stability roll

Timeline |

No Thanks crazy voices people already think im crazy enough but thanks for asking that was nice of you... Uh oh im talking to voices in my head see this is what im talking about!
+1 stability roll

Risen Fate |

@ All
We should probably head out of here. I don't want to meet the guy I saw running our way as you ported us out of the throne room. Though, I don't know who's worse; Ol' big-and-scary out there or Lord Singh who has us by our metaphorical...well, you know. I can open that portal again in here get us to Singh, or we could try a different approach. Any ideas while we've got this quick moment?

Rabbi Joseph Fankenburg |

do you say what the portal said while i wasn't there? because if you did i would suggest as i did before trying a different third word and hopefully it is closer and we can get to singh in our own manner
