Backstory
Baker Scott is a 28yr old, underpaid tech support call specialist trying to pay off his student loans from college. While on a job fixing the cataloguing system at a museum, he managed to knock over a statue of the Darjekian god of mischeif and trickery, shattering it on the floor and releasing the god's avatar, Ithran. This avatar, needing to find a suitable vessel, infused itself into Baker, allowing him to have some minor control over the fates and granting him the ability to twist the fabrics of destiny to his own ends. Realizing the potential of his newfound power, Baker Scott, tech specialist, became Rise Fate, the superhero of west lake New Jersey.
Important People:
Every morning Baker stops by "Ron's Donut Joint" on his way in to work. Having helped Ron out in a tough money situation years earlier, the two have built an interesting relationship where Ron is always keen to chat up the interesting side of recent news or gossip, and add an extra shot of espresso on the house and Baker is always happy to give him business and fix any small technical issues that Ron might have free of charge.
After working at Robocorp for a few years, Baker has risen through the ranks to become the team-leader of the Trouble-shooting and Resource department. Though mainly a product of luck and being in the right place at the right time, that isn't to say Baker has no skill. Marco Blancero, another tech who has worked with Baker, has always felt that his skills and expertise have been pushed to the wayside in favor of Baker's more gung-ho style. Though a knowledgeable tech and an expert in computers, he has been passed up for a number of promotions that Baker has attained for various reasons and has become bitter towards him for that, relishing any chance he gets to rub his superior knowledge and tech skills in Baker's face.
Marissa Porter works in the same department as Baker, and he's always had a sweet spot for her quick wit and ruthlessly good humored jabs at him and the other male techs. She has that right coy kind of smile that would set anyone's blood on fire, but also knows she's as good as she gives. At some point Baker would love to have a reason to ask her out, but what's an unremarkable blue-collared worker going to be able to do to win over a woman like that?
A few weeks ago, Risen Fate was approached by an "Agent Walker" of the Guardians of Earth, and asked if he would be interested in joining the fight for good. Never one to turn down an opportunity Fate took Agent Walker's card, showed up for "preliminary tryouts" and passed all the test to be a trial member. Not really one for united justice, however, Risen Fate has opted not to work with the GoE since then, unsure if he feels the same way towards justice that they do. Though he still has his trial membership pass, and he still has Agent Walker's card...
