OK, I can't fight the urge anymore - I'm starting another game. If there happens to be anyone out there who hasn't played, read or DMed the Age of Worms campaign you're welcome to join.

I will be using the Wilderlands campaign setting but Pathfinder deities. 20 point buy, core rules only, no traits, standard gold. You don't really have to know anything of the campaign setting beforehand. You start in a tough little godforsaken mining town on a peninsula that is nominally subject to the City State of the Invincible Overlord.

I expect you to be able to post once a day on weekdays. As a DM I think I have two things going for me: I try to be civil and I try to keep the pace up. Other than that I'm rather old school and like my campaigns zany but deadly.

I've met a lot of great gamers here, so anyone that's gamed with me and liked it will get preferential treatment but otherwise it's first come. I will take six players, and I prefer a balanced party of heroic (good) characters.

I'm very interested in AoW.

Do you have to know anything about the Wilderlands CS, because I'm not too familiar with it?

I'm not sure what I'd play yet as I'm starting to exhaust my Core Rulebook concepts (I've started looking at the APG Playtest Classes for ideas).

What kind of timeframe for getting PCs ready?

That's good, because I DON'T know anything of the setting. But I've never read Age of Worms either - I don't even know what it's about - which is a GOOD thing.

I would love to play a half-orc character who ran away from his evil orc tribe because he wanted to be good, so he moved to a predominantly human (elf? dwarf? etc.) society, even though the people there are prejudiced against orcs, so my character is hated and spit on. (I know it's overdone, but what can I say? Drizzt Do'Urden was an influential character.) Would a character concept like that make sense in this "Wilderlands" setting?

As for class, a Barbarian or Fighter would be an obvious choice... but I wouldn't mind playing a Cleric, if no one else wants to.

Oh, pick me, pick me! I've been waiting for an Age of Worms campaign to start up.

EDIT: I'm thinking of a bard, perhaps.

You're all welcome, and I hope get the characters done in a week or two - at least enough to get some preliminary role-playing rolling. You can email me at

to discuss backgrounds further. The setting is rather points-of-light, so I hope to fill you in as we go. It's best if you're from the area.

APG playtest classes would be fine, but subject to update as the final version comes out.

Would love to play an AoW game, I'm getting the feel of an elven inquisitor or ranger (undead hunter) type. Played the game in RL but it died in first game session (TPK). I'll work on my character tonight.

Ahh good, plenty of time then. I have a full weekend/beginning of next week and I was worried we'd be starting soon. :)

This is awesome news and I wouldn't have it any other way than an update to final rules come August. :)

Ohh, I want to play in this. How about a half-orc bard?

No, it's not mandatory. We can deal with background in spoilers. It's just an option. By the way, I like your character concept.

Hi! I'd love to join in on this, too. Thinking of playing a happy-go-lucky intinerant priest of Sarenrae, who has traveled to this area to bring a little light to the godsforsaken mining town.

e-mail sent. :)

Looking forward to this!

Interested if there is still room. Will work up a character concept and send it over to you later in the day.

Happy gaming.

Okay, I'll keep an eye on Max Hellspont, and anyone else who's thinking about playing a cleric-type character. As soon as I'm sure someone will play one in this campaign, I'll start statting out my character, probably as a barbarian. But first I'd like to be sure that SOMEBODY plays a cleric.

Rimrock wrote:

If you want to play a bard, then I'll play an alchemist. I think the alchemist class is awesome. :-)

I'm interested if there's still room. I'm willing to play whatever the party requires.
I'm thinking about a witch, as I have yet to see one played. I'll elaborate the concept in a short while.

EDIT: okay, I'm thinking a gnome witch, with a goat familiar. At the advise of several Paizoanians, I am using the statistics of the ewe for the goat, since none exist yet. If that isn't alright, I'll try something like a fox or bat.

Here's my (Max's) cleric of Sarenrae for your consideration (still need to work on background).

Thanks!

Okay, there's a cleric. Check. I'd better work on my barbarian before it's too late.

When we write up the background, may we assume that the PCs don't know each other yet?

And also, when you said "standard gold," I assumed you meant that we should roll for it. But maybe I'm wrong. Maybe you meant we should assume the average?

Friar Feres wrote:

Very nice.

Spoiler:
The temple to Sarenrae in the nearby city Warwik is all about aiding the downtrodden, so it would make perfect sense for its head Father Beamus to send you here. There is no temple to Sarenrae in Wolfstone but the temple of Iomedae will be happy to put you up, as long as you in turn put up with some good-natured bullying.

The town you start in is called Wolfstone by the way. As for background, it would be nice for some of you to know each other but it is not necessary. If you find something in each other's background that you can relate to that's great, but I'm not going to force you.

You can either roll for starting gold or take the average. I am going to trust you to roll your own dice.

The DM that ran the Morrick Mansion...I want in on this, might have to pull my entries to some other campaigns....I have a crazy idea for a fighter/cleric of Lamashtu...he got rejected from another campaign, but I'd like to resurrect the idea. Obviously not a cleric in the accepted sence, without the ability to heal. Before I get all excited and spend time building the character, just need to know if you have any objection to having a slightly mad fighter/cleric or a single classed cleric of Lamashtuin in your campaign? Would have Chaotic Neutral alignment.

This game is filling up fast and I don't know if there are any spaces left (depends on how many people actually finish their characters). Also I would have to say no to the character concept for this campaign. On the other hand the idea of a cleric of Lamashtu would fit splendidly into the Morrick Mansion campaign (which got derailed to the Grey Citadel).

Please head over to the Morrick Mansion discussion thread (we still use that one) and pitch your concept there (I'll need some more details to understand what you want to do). There is a paladin in the party and I don't know how the other players would take it. But if everything works out you're welcome to join there.

I'd rather not make the character unless I'm sure I'll get in, because I have a lot of other stuff to do. I can drum out a background and personality, though.

So far the six spots are taken by flash, Aaron, hogarth, Lucendar, Rimrock and Max, counting from the top, so I can't promise anyone else a spot, but usually someone bows out. A background and personality would be nice. Then we can fit you in quickly if a spot opens.

Black Tom wrote:

Trusting though you are, I'm going to use Paizo's dice roller...

Starting gold = 3d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 2) = 9 x 10

...

I should have taken the average.

Cuchulainn here. I know I'm jumping in late, but I would love the opportunity. Here is the character. He's a human fighter.

edit: 5d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 3, 2, 6) = 18 x10

It kind of depends on what familiar I get. Assuming I can get a goat, though...

Personality and Appearance:
Unlike most gnomes, Erine Wintyle is not a people person. She talks to herself and her goat frequently, but barely says a word to others. Often, in fact, she communicates through her goat (for instance, if somebody asked how she was, she would respond by saying to the goat, "He asks how I am doing, Goat, tell him I am doing fine")She is perfectly sane, though many might assume otherwise, and simply dislikes other people and has not bothered to learn their ways.
Her pale cyan hair (or are we using D&D rules? In which case, it's just black)is ragged and unkempt, and she generally wears a hood.
Her goat really is named Goat, because she sees little point in giving him some elaborate and meaningless name. Despite this, she is very fond of Goat.

The backstory will be out soon as well.

"Unlike other gnomes..."

Really KC? She sounds just like every other gnome I could imagine! A bit of irony in the spoiler, huh?

Dragonborn3 wrote:

Originally, I said 'not a people person', not 'a bit eccentric'. However, I don't like that phrase, so I changed it.

...
Irony sounds better, though.

I would love to PBP with KC and hogarth and AB.

I can make a character super quick!

Is there still room at the inn or will I have to bed down in the stables?????

Okay, here is the first draft of my character. I haven't had time yet to work out how he knows any of the other PCs, and I'm afraid that it will be well over a day before I have time to start working on that. But it's a start. What do you think?

Urg looks good, and that makes two characters ready to go.

I can't really say about the rest, but if there is a huge amount of interest we could make up another party. However I won't send more than six into the Whispering Cairn, so that would have to be another adventure, to reconnect later with the AoW. Don't know if that would appeal to anyone.

I can post multiple times per day and rarely evening/weekends.

Here is my PC

Character Name
Sanstree
Class Druid
Level 1
Alignment N

Feats:
spell focus (conjuration)
Augment Summoning

Nature bond...Weather domain (no animal companion)

History/Background
Interest in both druid and arcane magic, was living in the nearby mountains and recently traveled to town looking to learn the wizards art.

Appearance
16 year old male human with light brown hair and green eyes.
Stats From The High Fantasy (20) Point Buy
Str 7
Dex 8
Con 13
Int 18
WIS 18
CHA 7

River Rat
You learned to swim right after you learned to walk. As a youth, a gang of river pirates put you to work swimming in nighttime rivers and canals with a dagger in your teeth so you could sever the anchor ropes of merchant vessels.

Cliff Jumper
You spent your early years exploring and foraging along the coastal cliffs.
Benefit: You gain a +1 trait bonus on Acrobatics and Climb checks, and on Reflex saves to avoid falling.

Kidnapped as a youth and forced to work for pirates off the local coastline. Eventually escaped captivity and swam away one night with a dagger in his teeth and a gem worth (starting gold in a belt pouch) to live in the forest as far from the sea as possible eventually setting in the nearby mountains.

Here's my backstory:

Spoiler:
Erine Wintyle never knew another gnome when she was a child. She was sold to a green hag named Evalt as a baby, and lived most of her young life in a bog.
Evalt raised her well enough. She left Erine alone, fed her, and taught her the art of witchcraft. Erine was free to essentially do whatever she liked.
One day, while exploring, Erine found a tattered journal in a tree's knothole, cleverly hidden. It was Evalt's log.
Erine discovered the dreadful truth: She was being raised to be Evalt's weapon, when the hag made her grab for power. Once Evalt succeeded, she was to be dealt with.
Horrified, Erine attempted to escape, but was caught by the hag's wards. The hag found her, trapped, and realized that Erine knew her plans. She locked her in her closet, to dispose of later.
But there never was a later. A band of wandering adventurers, seeking to force Evalt to answer for some crime or another, attacked, and in the chaos the wards slipped. Erine managed to break out of the closet, and fled the swamp.

And Goat's backstory:
Spoiler:
Goat was the only 'pet' the hag had, used to feed Erine with her milk (she never saw what happened to the kids, though). Originally the hag wanted Erine to choose a toad as her familiar, and was surprised when Erine instead chose Goat. She went along with it, grudgingly.

If you get a drop out, then if you feel Canvy could fit in the party let me know.

So flash, hogarth, Lucendar and Rimrock, please post a character concept by Monday if you're still interested. Then we'll see if there are openings and what kind of character we need.

Please put me down if anyone drops out.

I Don't mind what i play.

I have a bunch of pre-made lvl 1s of various classes i could use :D

and i post frequently.

I will have my character ready this weekend, thanks for letting be join!

I'm flattered by the inteest, but I'll stick to the six first until someone bows out. Was there anyone interested in a side adventure? I'm thinking of running a small group through Citadel by the Sea (yeah, I'm that old), and possibly slot you into the main adventure later.

Dark Archive

Deevor again,

Yep, I'm up for whatever happens a side adventure or the main thing. You have seen both my clerics, so I'm happy to start with either or my alchemist in the side adventure. I must go through and complete the characters, but really only want to do that if there is a realistic chance of getting into a game. However Canvy Mandrain would be my first choice.

Black Tom wrote:

That's my sentimental favourite adventure from Dragon Magazine.

I'm still working on my alchemist, I'll let you know when he's partially complete.

Hey DM, I am working on my character concept. It morphed to a dwarven ranger. Here is my roll for starting gold:

5d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 3, 6, 1) = 22

Okay, so our party composition is thus:

Me: Human Cleric of Sarenrae
Aaron Bitman/Urg Legbreaker: Half-Orc Barbarian
Lucendar/Valgrim Twin-Axe: Dwarf Ranger
Hogarth/Vug Vang: Elf Alchemist
Rimrock/Bubluka (Bubba): Half-Orc Bard
Flash: ? something from the APG ?

Pretty versatile group; looks like the only thing we might be missing is someone with trapfinding capability.

OK, If we need a trapfinder, I could rework this Character a little without much drama.

Or possibly create another Character, but very similar, just tweaked slightly (Human Race, no Traits, etc...)

My alchemist has Disable Device, for what it's worth.

Since the party is coming together I opened a discussion thread here. Let's move the discussion there. I'm glad that everyone is still aboard. It looks like a fun party. I must confess that I'm not really familiar with the APG classes, but it's a great opportunity to see them in action.

There aren't many elfs native to Wolfstone, so you'll need a reason to be there. Also the question is whether you know each other beforehand. But please make a dot in the other thread and I'll see what we can do.

Also as I said before, no traits. And I hope you are honest about not knowing the AP beforehand.

If there are any takers for the Citadel group you can continue to post here, and make up your characters. I can take at least four.

put me down for the Citadel group if there is still room.

thinking rogue or monk.
