just as the strain is about ready to make you scream, a deep gutteral howl sounds. Its low and deep sound vibrates the building you huddle in, and vibrates your body as well.
The scratching and tearing at the roof stops, and the creature gives a braying moan, and the three creatures rush off across the roof top.

oh, you guys got lucky
After the last creature leaps off the roof top, the only sound you hear is your beating heart, as it attempts to beat itself out of your rib cage.
Khron Stonearm |
Khron lowers his weapon, letting out a breath he hadn't known he was holding. "Damned things are bad f'r me heart..." the dwarf complains, before turning to the rest of the party, his eyes settling on Kip. "Whadaya think? Should we go back up 'ere an' try t' get goin' t' 'is tunnel o' yers?"
Kip Tialak |
Kip looks like he's still recovering from the fright when Khron asks him the question. "Uhhh. I—Whatever's good with you guys? I don't know how I'll get you all across the city with the rooftops as they are though, but the tunnel is a good place if we're planning on staying in the city."
Alfonso |
Once the creatures are gone, Eamch's speaks up, though his tone is a harsh whisper. "We need to go down! Fight off these things and claim this inn. Then the came take to the sewers and get out of the city."
Alfonso smiles at Emach as the illusion fades. "Calm, friend. Our guests above have moved on and our hosts below grow restive for our company. We should quit this quaint domicile for the plein air and follow our reptilian guide to greener pastures."
Kragdash |
"I don't know but we need a decision and fast. Either way we are not going to get out of this mess without a fight. Standing here with our thumbs in our arses are not gona do any good." The orc grunts quite clearly getting frustrated.
Kip Tialak |
Kip nods along but it's clear that he has absolutely no idea what Alfonso is saying. "We could try getting across the street first," he offers.
Why did the party cross the road? Because zombies were on their current side!
Eamch Stone |
In a harsh whisper, Eamch says to the others "I don't think I'm spillin' secrets when I say not all of us are cut out for jumpin' buildin' to buildin'. One slip and you're on the street with those things, maybe with a broken leg. If we start clearin' out the ones here, we can check the basement for a way out, or slip into an alley on the side. At some point we're goin' to have to start cuttin' through some of these to get clear of the city; might as well start here."
Kragdash |
Kragdash turns towards Eamch. "You make your blood proud." He continues addressing the group as a whole. "It's a good idea. Here we can learn about our enemy in relative safety. Out there we have much less control over the situation. Also like mentioned before the inn has supplies that we are in desperate need of."
Eamch Stone |
With a smile, Eamch says ”So here’s what I think we should do. We can drop down into our rooms through the holes we already made, assumin’ there isn’t a Thing in there. Once everyone has time to get down, one of us can open a door and attack the nearest Thing. The two of us closest to the stairs can block it off and hold it. The rest can make sure the floor is clear. Once we take this floor, we can move down. Probably any that can attack us on the stairs will once they hear us. Sound like a workable plan?”
Khron Stonearm |
Khron looks doubtful, but he acknowledges that a stout fellow like himself ain't going to be doing too well hopping from roof to roof. "A'right, sounds li' a plan. Le's git it workin'!" he states, clutching his weapon, an excited grin replacing his uncertainty.
Alfonso |
With a smile, Eamch says ”So here’s what I think we should do. We can drop down into our rooms through the holes we already made, assumin’ there isn’t a Thing in there. Once everyone has time to get down, one of us can open a door and attack the nearest Thing. The two of us closest to the stairs can block it off and hold it. The rest can make sure the floor is clear. Once we take this floor, we can move down. Probably any that can attack us on the stairs will once they hear us. Sound like a workable plan?”
"A wonderful plan. I am sure the dozen cursed that were here before will calmly wait their turn and not over run the two volunteers holding the stairs. Perhaps a better option would be to rig a crude ladder from a bed-frame in one of the thing-free rooms. This would allow rapid retreat to the attic if the party got too exciting. Then the more violent of us go down into a single room and open the door. A little work on my part will ensure company is along presently assuming the redecorating does not bring them as desired.
The open door will prove an effective bottleneck but remember the doors open to the corridor. Once opened they might be difficult to close again."
Kip Tialak |
"Um," Kip pipes up. "Are you sure it's safe here? I mean, it wasn't exactly safe when I crashed into the building and there's a fire just across the street and I dunno if there's any food or water...." He trails off, sounding unsure then shakes his head. "I mean, it might not be a bad idea, I guess?"
Eamch Stone |
Eamch grimaces as he scrapes the floor with a boot, certainly alerting the Cursed below. Seeking to seize advantage from the moment, he quickly and quietly moves over to the hole that leads below to his room. Without hesitation, he draws his weapon and leaps through the hole into his room, ready for action.

Alfonso |
Mouth open in shock as the half-orc apparently goes mad and hurls himself into the cursed. Alfonso can only listen is horror. Waiting for the battle cries turn to screams of pain.
Galvanized by a near moribund sense of duty Alfonso scrambles to the large entry hole to see if another illusion could at least slow the carnage.
Braver man than I Stone, especially after what we saw when Shallow soul tried it.
RIZZENMAGNUS |
A moment after the ork drops through the floor, a door creaks open followed by a wet smack.
Hearing the wet smack, some of the things turn and see Eamch. They let out a low moan, and begin to shuffle towards eamch.
Kragdash |
The orc glances at the others in the attic. "The fire ain't gona wait us boys." He smirks and leans down looking trough the hole in to room Eamch is in. "You coming back up or are we starting the slaughter or what?" He questions with slightly lowered voice.
Kip Tialak |
"Uhhh." Kip looks hopelessly lost. "I don't really want to go at it with those things, but I'll follow. Just don't expect me to be of much use; I'm not really good at fighting." He shrugs before crouching down to watch Eamch in morbid fascination.
Eamch Stone |
Eamch calls back up to Kragdash... "They aren't bright. Jump down into a room at the other end of the hall! Smash down one when it gets close and then slam the door on the others. We can keep them going back and forth until they're gone."
"Kip, you don't have to swing a club to help. Get to another door, open it when none are close, draw them toward you and slam it again!"
Kragdash |
Could we get a headcount on those that are still with us? Do I need to roll something? If I do feel free to do them for me, to keep things moving.
Kragdash nods to the half-orc. "You heard the plan, don't got a decent swordarm grap a ranged weapon or distract them." The orc doesn't wait or care for a response instead just makes his wa to the mentioned across the hall. Once down he takes a firm hold of his axe and moves closer to the door to listen.
Alfonso |
Still here.
Alfonso, taking a rather undignified position, thrusts his head through the main entry hole. He is trying to see how many of the cursed are on the second floor and how many have been alerted by the noise and are coming up from below.
(in other words see previous post. :7))
RIZZENMAGNUS |
lets have everyone roll init. kragdash can roll for attack. Anyone else who wishes to attack can attack. Ill give the rest of today for everyone to post what they are doing, or if everyone posts before hand ill make another posting today.
Alfonso: you see 7 bodies walking the halls. 4 of the walkers are walking towards Eamch's door, probably to consume the dead thing
Kragdash |
Kragdash pushes the door open with his shoulder, after hearing one of the creatures outside. The orc raises his axe high above his head and brings it crashing down with a mighty cleave from shoulder to hip of the walker. Having learned that these things could take punishment that would kill mere normal men he lifts his axe back up readying himself for retaliation.

Alfonso |
Alfonso watches in horror as a great wave of zombies pushes up the stairs.
Stone and Kragdash mount a valiant defense deploying walnuts, Gatling peas, potato-mines, and ultimately lawnmowers. All to no avail as the wave of screen door zombies and bucket heads overwhelming them.
Meanwhile Kip and Alfonso are snatched up to their doom by bungee zombies dropping through holes in the ceiling.
The last thing we hear is Alfonso's voice fading into the distance...
