Hey everyone...very excited to be here. I've never played in a CC game before, so I'm stoked.
Thanks for the selection, DM!
Roll for Shel's gold here. 4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 6, 6) = 17 times ten.
I'll make all the purchases with my shiny 170 gold this weekend.

Ok, lets talk about some conventions:
It helps to make some things
Combat should be posted as a spoiler. Out of character comments as Ooc, in blue and character speech should be presented in bold.
Because of some of the asynchronous spacing of posts, if we ever miss something - for example some dialogue from earlier, you can post it as spoilers in 'flex' time.
During combat, it would help to have your action posted with one or two contingencies. For example "if x enemy dies, then switch to y."
Any other basics I'm missing?

I don't remember in your original thread, DM, but you might consider rolling for initiative for all of us at once, instead of letting us do so individually. A lot of time is wasted on personal initiative, IMHO.

Good point! If your initiative bonus is in your spoiler, I'll mass roll for npcs and pcs at once, and give the order for combat. Players will post their actions.

Came across this today looking at another campaign. I'm not sure how different it is from what you're talking about, but it's the same concept, I think.
Issue #1
"Us" and "them" initiativeUS
Every PC rolls, highest rolled score becomes team initiative!
so on the PC's turn everyone goes....THEM
Monsters get one initiative roll as normal added to the roll is a +1 for every monster of the same sort present....
20 goblins will win initiative!Note: does not effect stealth or surprise rounds!
This sets a block of actions for PC's to post (in any order) and then (remaining) monsters to post as a "block".

How is HP calculated for PCs? How about for mounts? And for pets?
Speaking of pets, in addition to my Horse mount, will it be alright if I pick up a pet Falcon?

GM: Twice Dead Professor |

Jakira: I think the PCs should get their own rolls, after all- there are a dozen different investments a PC can make to improve their initiative.
Garin: Full hitpoints for the first level PCs. Each level after is a roll, or average for hit die (D6 = 3, 8= 4, 10=5, etc) whichever is higher, plus all the bonuses. Animals and companions: full for first die, roll or average for the rest. Pet falcon? Sure. I think I saw that they're 40g. pets

Having invested in a couple of them myself, I can appreciate that.
Hi Gilda! Hi Shel!

Garin Veacali |

Is--is it safe to post? I don't think everyone's quite finished statting their character, but it should be fine for roleplaying.
I do want to see the Paladin's reaction. Pallys: most fun when they're being righteous at someone else

Expectations met and exceeded!

GM: Twice Dead et al.
Know the game is in its infancy but it looks likely I'm going to have to drop out at the first hurdle. Just back to work today after the festive break and the increased workscope for 2013 means loads more training/work for me in the coming months (both here in Scotland and over in Norway - I'm in Oil & Gas)
Couple this with me offering to run an Invitational Kingmaker pbp and I've real concerns about giving the best I can to both the character and you guys.
Difficult call for me as I've been knocking at the door with Fernu for a good few years regards this AP, but don't want to be a token poster in what promises to be an excellent game.
Apologies to all - feel free to bring in one of the very capable replacements GM Twice Dead Prof, and hope you didn't feel I was wasting anyones time - not my style and always give 100% to my games and fellow players.
Black Dow

Fernu Fears Nothing |

Much appreciated Garin - as I mentioned been looking forward to playing Fernu for some time; but really don't think I'll have the time to do her (and the game) justice.
As for my own PBP - is merely in the planning stage and likely will be for the foreseeable weeks to come... (lucky for me I have a patient group!)

Thanks - feel even worse after the kind words, just honestly don't think I'll have the time to fully commit looking ahead. If GMTwiceDead appeciates that he may have to DMPC Fernu over the coming months (offshore interwebbage can be poor at best) then I'm happy to stick around and keep building on her... but understand if you'd prefer someone who'll be able to given more (especially given the very high standard of characters submitted during recruitment)
Very humbled :S

GM: Twice Dead Professor |

Fernu (Black Dow etc), we're sorry to see you go. Thank you for letting us know, though.
I think the best course of action would be to take a replacement, considering the recruitment thread is still lukewarm. Hopefully no feelings are hurt. Any suggestions on whom we should recruit?

Shel Whispertongue |

I am cool with whomever you liked from the thread, DM. I think you picked a wonderfully diverse party here, and I am sure you'd pick a good sub for any of us.
I think we have all the bases covered, so whatever character you feel comfortable with should fit in fine.

Jakira |

Pretty much, what Shel said.
I was looking at the recruitment thread, but there are no gaping holes in our party that I can see. I wouldn't mind a bit more front-line muscle, but I think that's more because it's what we lost than what we need.
Plus, you're on top of things so far.

Shel Whispertongue |

So we've got a cavalier, paladin, rogue, cleric, and sorcerer going forward.
Looks like we could use a ranged character or a swing divine/arcane caster, IMHO. Ranged bard might be good if there is one out there. That might be my suggestion.

Garin Veacali |

Vachordi the Gassy is a ranged bard. I know him so I can vouch for him.
He's currently at a conference until the end of this week (Sunday or so) but will still able to post daily.

No thank you TTDProf - for the initial selection and understanding my regret.
Enjoy the game all - will continue to watch with envious eyes lol.
Hope to share the pbp boards with you all again sometime
Cheers

GM: Twice Dead Professor |

Alright, here's what we'll do: PM me with your vote, and I'll invite the next person. We've got two advocating "the Gassy" so the vote might be a quick one.
I'll update the game thread later and move things one.
I ran a PBP dragonlance adventure (with some updated twists)- it died after a couple of months because I didn't advance the plot fast enough. My request to the players is that when you get bored, let me know, and I'll move things along.

Vachordi Strong Wind |

hello all. Just got the invite. So very thrilled. I am at a conference for work this week so posting will be less than it will be usually, 1 to 4 per day. So excited

Garin Veacali |

'Ollo there, Vachordi!
Also, some confusion as to where we are at the moment. We've, uhh, just eaten lunch I suppose?
And do I know where my horse (with falcon) is stabled? I assume at the mansion? The first thing Garin would do would be to check up on them.

Vachordi Strong Wind |

i am pretty much out of commission today and tomorrow. I will try to make a post but please feel free to bot me.
