For some reason I set up a second game thread for Group 2, but not for Group 1.

Darwyn - I took the liberty of moving you to O16 rather than R21 which would have left you in the middle of a tapestry, but do tell me if you really want to be there.

Darwyn staggers out of the shadowy zone sucking his life away and blocking his sight, but can find no words powerful enough to affect the Shrine.

Darion stands and draws on his inner strength to help him regain focus.

As Norrin's first arrow pulls apart further shreds of Shrine, the creature points a long finger at Darwyn. Shadow explodes outward from the bard, dragging at the life-force of him and his companions and pulling some part of it back into the Shrine.

Life Leak (Fort). Burst 5 within 10, centred on bloodied enemy. Enemies only. Half damage on miss. Shrine (and allies if they were still alive) gains 20 temp hp.

Lyan's necrotic resist is 15, so I make it 17 total, at 63/102.

Stand, throw flail at Shrine. 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (2) + 13 = 151d10 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

Lyan, cursing fluently in his own tongue -- and in elven, for good measure -- stands and hurls his flail at the shrine. The weapon returns to his hand having done nothing, but the hobgoblin is finally adjacent to a drapery.


The Shrine turns a mild, admonitory glance at Lyan as the hobgoblin increases its knowledge of elven swearwords.

Samson's attack misses, but he does his best to help Darion out of his predicament with the fabric.

You have a +3 bonus from Samson to either your damage roll or your save until the end of Samson's turn. Where would you like it applied?

Darwyn eases around the edge of the firepit and waits for his moment to come.

Darion strides up to the Shrine and drives his blade deep into it before finding himself slowing to a crawl and then unable to move at all. Threads from the tapestry continue to snag at his legs.

Failed first save and is now immobilised and taking 10 ongoing. If you fail the next save, you are drawn into the tapestry.

The tapestries call out their siren song to Lyan and the hobgoblin can't avoid their attack.

Apologies for late update. Been taking classes all day and then watching son be called young Lenny Bruce by Elliot Randall at local talent show :) So chuffed :)

Norrin's second arrow pinks the Shrine which responds by shifting itself further into the firepit and dropping the baleful zone over Darion and Samson. It turns it's mournful face towards Darwyn once more as it draws life-force from the companions to restore itself.

Life Leak recharge: 1d6=6. Yes.

Lyan shakes off the tapestry's embrace, hardly noticing, and promptly pursues the shrine, leaping into the draining taint.

Move to R15. Psionic Anchor vs Shrine AC 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (15) + 16 = 312d10 + 8 ⇒ (8, 5) + 8 = 21 As a free action at the end of the target’s turn, you can teleport the target to a square adjacent to you (save ends).

Forgot to make Shrine's save v -1AC: 1d20=17. Saved.

Lyan steps into the fire pit and suffers for it, despite his amazing resilience.

Firepit delivers 2d10 fire and necro damage if you enter or start your turn in it. 2d10=15 fire (and non-effective necro) to Lyan.

His blow slams into the Shrine, imposing a mental bond that will force the creature to remain close to him.

Norrin, I've used it already to help Darwyn.

I'll move over in the direction of Samson avoiding the tapestries. Anywhere is fine.


Keeping an anxious eye on Samson, Darion moves closer to his dragonborn friend.

Destroying it seems a reasonable enough way to help. I've highlighted the relevant section in yellow. It has partial cover from the firepit at the moment for Norrin. (-2 to attack rolls against it).

EDIT: Since Lyan and I are equidistant to the tapestry, I can apply Prime Shot for +1 to ranged attacks.

Norrin moves around the firepit to Q14 and lines up a shot with meticulous care.

Despite standing almost in front of the tapestry, the arrow flies into the ceiling.
