Stupid boards go down right as I click submit. Urrrgh.
Like him or not, Kristophe was a MAJOR plot influencer. So much so that to simply have him wander off without a proper exit is incredibly anticlimactic. It goes against all narrative sense.
I have a few ideas I'm going to PM niles with, let him decide. In the meantime I can probably get back to the game with the people in the prison cell.
"Badger" Bloom
From Friday afternoon until Monday evening I'm being abducted to a cabin by a group of Midwesterners who will teach me to be nice. I won't have much in the way of wifi access, so feel free to have Badger leap into danger in my absence.

FYI to make the merge easier, as soon as this scene ends i'm bumping you all up to the exp of the other party - 31xp. I'm telling you ahead of time because that's a rather large jump, and you may need quite a bit of time planning. I think experiencing the introduction of a genuine adversary and the death of Kristophe will have hardened you a lot.
The NPCs are going to have to part pretty soon. Sorry, but with merging threads, that's going to be a lot to keep track of - Thomas, if you want to swap your Edges out for something else in your character's wheelhouse that isn't horedemaster focused as a result, I understand, and have no problem with it. They will remain allies, but will probably find a home to stay at until you guys get to your goal of founding a city, or whatever, and won't go adventuring with you anymore.
I was thinking...ordering Warhammer to protect Timmy from now on is probably a poignant way to have Thomas fulfill his promise to Kristophe...and a hilariously mean way to say goodbye to the loyal robot that hates kids.

Gah! Nuts. Alright, yeah, I can totes see that. Okay. And I can just keep Common Bond for the butt-saving effect.
Hee. Yeah, that is ironic. With both Timmy and Jimmy to watch over, he'll think that he's being punished for sins committed in a past life! =)
Is 31 XP the total? Not in addition to, yeah?
Ooooo, Seasoned edge time!
Aeryicka Hill
Yeah, that's gonna have to wait til I get home, way too much stuff to look at for me to use my phone. It's a bonus for every 5xp, right?
Aeryicka Hill
Trying to figure out my advancements and stuff, and I got my 20 and 25 exp down. At 20, I'm boosting my Survival skill to d10, and at 25 I'm getting the Animal Friend edge to turn Cray into a wild card. I'm stuck at my 30 exp advancement. Does the other table have a healer? If not I'm thinking about taking the Healer edge which will give me and up to five others a +2 on all natural healing rolls, and me a +2 on any healing roll. If they do, I'm gonna boost my fighting and either climbing or swimming to d6.
Aeryicka Hill
Mmkay, I'll go with the Healer edge then, make sure no more Kristophes die from their actions.
Aeryicka Hill
Quick question: As I got the Animal Friend edge at 25exp, would Cray gain the next 6exp that we got?
"Badger" Bloom
I am back in a position to post! Should I try to level up Badger soon or wait until the current skirmish ends or when we combine threads?
thegreenteagamer
You can go ahead and level up now - barring someone screwing up royally, this scene is just about over. Like I said, I'm just kind of doing a cinematic wrap up less than a full combat now, you know?
"Badger" Bloom
Rough idea here, open to other suggestions:
20 exp- Raise Climbing to a d6 and Fighting to a d10
25 exp- Raise Strength to a d8, allowing for using better weapons and carrying more stuff
30 exp- Take either the Thief edge for +2 Climbing, Lockpick, Stealth (urban) as well as Notice/Repair for traps or Quick to act sooner in initiative or Hard to Kill to shrug a wound penalty. I'm thinking Thief, and I could take Assassin later on.
thegreenteagamer
I'm going to let vaults and other indoor areas count as cities for that perk, just FYI. The wilderness edge has lessened prerequisites now that tracking is folded into survival, so this should balance the two out.
You guys might wanna look at the otjer group's abilities for more info.
Rufus left their group, and Niles will be coming in as a combat based robot.
If anyone wants to ghoulify in the story, let me know - we can trade one of your advances in for the human bonus edges and write it in that you're starting to change. Didn't you say you wanted that sometime back Aeryicka?
GM Niles
Hey I'm following the thread, just need to make my alias for ER-HK. Been sick, I'll try sometime this evening

Hey I'm following the thread, just need to make my alias for ER-HK. Been sick, I'll try sometime this evening
Just remember ER-HK is going to be introduced in the other thread, because it's a lot closer to civilization.
Aeryicka Hill
If Aeryicka ends up dying for some reason, then I'll go for a ghoul. Being a ghoul doesn't really fit with the character concept I'm going for. Be cool to play a super mutant, but I don't think that it'd really fit in with the current crowd.
So, gave Aeryicka the Healer edge at the 30exp mark, and Cray is getting a Strength boost to d6, which will also increase his damage. Next boost for him will be his Fighting increased to a d8.
thegreenteagamer
I wish you'd have told me earlier...there were vats of FEV in one of the rooms downstairs. You could've...had an accident. Ghouling only can happen from radiation based death, not regular. Unless you meant for another character.
Aeryicka Hill
That's what I meant. I have an idea for a ghoul character like Charon from FO3, loyal to whomever holds his contract.
As for Aeryicka, I kind of see her devolving slightly into a more tribal mindset, a lot like the tribals in that FO:NV dlc where you help out Joshua Graham.
thegreenteagamer
I'm pretty sure those are that way from a result of generations of living that lifestyle, like the people of Arroyo in FO2. Most folks by FO2 or later are at least 100 years post war worth of being out of the vaults. Vault 101 is the only one that I can recall still being closed up by that point.
I'm not saying you can't do this. I'm just sharing lore. :-)
Aeryicka Hill
I know, just an example of how she's gonna act. She will be a bit more modern than those, just a bit more...primitive? than the others she's around.
thegreenteagamer
So, we can do some RP filler if you want, but right now I'm waiting for Spencer in the other group to come back from vacation and Niles to join the other group with his robot so they can follow the radio signal that Mac sent out and meet you out here - they have a van, so they can probably fit everyone in it, or at least everyone who isn't a heavily armored and armed NPC that will be splitting off from you soon enough.
Oh, yeah, that reminds me...the NPCs...heh...gotta post again in the gameplay thread. We've got some "Kristophe's Death Resolution" to figure out...
"Badger" Bloom
It seems like the other group is pretty heavily combat focused, so I'm going to level up Stealth to a d10 instead of Fighting and I'll stick with the Thief edge as it seems incredibly useful.

GLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARG!!!!
Two things:
1) I already thought about this, so it's no use pointing out that it might be irrelevant, I'm gonna say it anyway. =)
We need a word. Some code-word that says that, yes, definitively, your character screen goes to black and you get to play hide the sausage. That word should be "Hiawatha". If the GM ever says "...and then, Hiawatha" you can be assured that Krull the Conqueror was well received.
2) Um, this may come up later. I'll pause point number 2 for now. =P

Hey guys, now that Thomas has gotten his wick wet, we can move on to less important things, like daily survival.
It's no secret that we are waaaaaaaaaaaaaay behind the other group, and I'm talking about gear here. (One of them is basically BOS with power armor, yeah?)
Hence, we can use this thread to start to brain storm ideas for how we want to spend our 30K.
And mind you, I'm sure this is obvious, but even though we're a party now, that 30K should be for us. They got their candy, and 18K to boot. We just need to catch up.
Mind you, we can still splurge among us. Like, if Badger wanted to get some Planet-splitting knife for 25K, I'd be all for it. I'm not saying that's actually a thing, but it's an example.
I'll go over the list of stuff tonight and throw up a wishlist for myself. (It's gonna have cyberwear on it. I'm not ever sure that's possible in Kingdom, but if it -can- be bought, Thomas wants some chrome, chummer. =)
Put up your ideas and let's discuss it. In the other thread I kinda feel like the little kid standing around while his big brothers talk about varsity football.
thegreenteagamer
20K, not 30K.
Marcus actually just got that power armor. He was originally in a jumpsuit, because he's a mechanic from the Knights division of the BoS, not a paladin. They found a single salvaged power armor suit with no functional fusion core, and he wore it like metal armor only heavier (like the NCR heavy infantry in FONV) and shelled out a huge chunk of change to get it restored.
But, yeah, because they started before you, when you were in the school doing the survival aspect, they took on a job clearing out a giant ant's nest, and got a bunch of gear in a factory that was overrun by the ants - barely got out alive, but man was it an exciting fight. They took out the queen just in time before all the soldiers and workers swarmed them. Then they hunted down a wild card deathclaw and got a good chunk of change for that.
I had planned on you guys finding a Chinese Stealth Armor in the bunker, but I realized I put a bit too much "oomph" in the badguys side of things to get you through a straight fight, and then Kristophe had to be taken out, and...well, you get the point.
But yeah, as I told them recently, we're moving from the "holy crap, how do we survive" part of the game to the "Suit up and be a badass" portion of the game.
"Badger" Bloom
If we divide it up, that's 6,666 caps for each of the three of us- maybe we want to put some aside for Jimmy and Timmy if we're nice. I'll think of what I want to do with Badger- whether to stick with shotguns and melee like an assault from X-Com or if I want to go long range and sneaky.
Aeryicka Hill
How are you doing armor in this game? Full suits a la FO3/NV or modular like FO4? I'm wanting some leather armor (especially if it's leatherback armor cause reasons), not sure about weaponry. Might just stick with the spear I made for now, and replace it if it ever breaks. Definitely want to stock up on medical items.
thegreenteagamer
Full suit with seperate helmets like 3/NV. It's all on the info page link.
Leatherbacks are gators that have had their scales petrify over time :-) different mutations than the usual "make it bigger" cause gators are already scary enough. Their name is ironic like calling a big guy tiny.
Aeryicka Hill
Love that idea, now I want reinforced leather armor with leatherback plating.

I'm a simple man, and my needs are small (primarily since everyone else can apparently kill a deathclaw without me =) so I don't really have a long dream list.
I'd like to get the pre-war innoculation. (Indeed, I think we all should) for 1000.
And I'd like to upgrade to a plasma pistol for 250.
Then I'd like to drop a jacket, a business suit, and some football pads in front of a tailor and ask for a suit with 2 armor and +2 Cha. That should take at worse 1000.
Then I was looking at either the Luck implant for 4K, or the perception implant (+1 notice) for 4K. Jus' sayin'. =)
thegreenteagamer
Implants cannot be done by the hood - neither can custom items. Kingdom has both but they'll cost caps not your brotherhood credit, as it would be followers for implant and general merchants for tailor.

I have a hunting shotgun hidden back at the school, so I will pick that up if we can on the way to Kennedy.

Okay, I'll decide what I can do without to get the electronic ones and a crapload of bobby pins here and save some money for the standard ones if we get to Dome.

Okay, I'll drop one stimpak and the bedroll for electronic lockpicks (375) and 26 bobby pins and that will be all of my credit with the BOS.

TGTG: Can you please embellish a little bit on what a pulse weapon does? From the rules: "When an electronic creature, such as a robot, or humanoid wearing power armor is hit with a pulse weapon, (even if undamaged), they must make a Vigor roll or be Shaken. Stunned creatures cannot attempt to recover from being Shaken for 1d6 rounds. The Vigor roll is at -2 if the hit was a raise."
Does that means it's only like a taser...for metal things? What is the TN for the Vigor roll? If it only stuns, why does it have a damage listed? Or is the shaken effect in addition to the damage? What about organic creatures in metal armor?
thegreenteagamer
The TN is always 4 if not otherwise declared. All that is in addition to the damage.
Non-mechanical creatures cannot get wounds from a pulse weapon, only shaken at the most. Robots and the like can be killed from it. Pulse weapons wreck robots, as per Fallout lore. The damage is considerably higher than other weapons of it's price range, but ONLY for robots and other machines.
Electric weapons are kind of half-way between - they do extra stuns or the like to robots, but can still kill humans.
