Frustrated by the druids continued delaying tactics, and unwilling to use up any more of her resources on a (not very interesting) sideshow, Say'ri unfastens the chain linking her to the tiger and swoops over the wall of force surrounding the arena.
Well that was boring. And annoying. Her telepathic voice is clearly frustrated. Did anyone see anything going on?

GM Deadly Secret |

Say'ri flies up and offers to forfeit. The small crowd boos a little but the woman seems perfectly ok with that as she raises her arms in the air as victor and the crowd cheers for you.
As you exit the ring, Marthysan approaches you. The paladin seems concerned and asks, "Have any of you encountered anything strange lately or heard any rumors that may not have reached my ears while I've was focused on the tournament and other official business."

Aayalla Rand |

"Sure sure, the Golden League guys are fixing and rigging matches trying to make coin. Though we haven't been approached or talked too, so can't be sure. Seems if they just bet on us they would make all the coin they need." She says very matter of fact but yet playfully as not bothered by the situation.

Takeshi Yoshida |

"Yes, it appears a number of people are ill, and now there's been that whole tower collapsing incident. Could be just to rig the matches for bets. Could be just someone trying to gain an edge." Takeshi shrugs his heavily armored shoulders. "It is fortunate that we have not yet been targeted, though I would imagine that will soon change." As he speaks, he carefully watches the "paladin," attempting to determine if his concern is genuine or if he merely wished to see how much they knew about what was going on.
Sense motive: 1d20 ⇒ 10

![]() |

Say'ri too sizes up the paladin, his arrivals always seem a little too well timed.
SM: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (1) + 15 = 16
*blech!*

GM Deadly Secret |

You may believe what you want in regards to his motives.
Marthysan responds, "The Golden League you say. Yes, after investigation it appears there was sabotage to the three towers and if what you're saying is true, it seems they are trying to rig the tournament."
You all hear a call out for Marthysan to return to the Emissary's side as the next match will start soon. He turns to you after listening to the call out, "Something is going on here and I'd like to get to the bottom of it, would you meet me at Yon Loi's at 9 pm to discuss the situation. I'm afraid I can't trust anyone else and your team has always been honest and fair." He trots off.
The Emissary calls out for 'The Silence' to head to the Grand Pavilion for your next tournament match. You are instructed to remove any footwear and stand ready to fight atop the smoldering coals. Yes this means, no shoes. This also means if you have 'magical shoes' you will not get their benefit from this match. Players have the opportunity as they wait to cast spells to preclude fire damage (such as energy resistance or protection from energy), but the tournament officials warn you that the crowd disapproves of such actions, seeing it as taking the easy way out.
You may cast 10 min/CL or longer spells before fight.

Égaré throws a bomb at pink and it hits. He reflexes away and takes half damage. Orange fails to reflex and takes the splash damage.
The crowd cheers for the great start to a fight!

Takeshi Yoshida |

I'm assuming the coals cover the entire arena? Basically just want to know if we charge in right to the enemies if they'll get to ignore the coal fire damage because the starting area is safe or not.
Uncertain as to if Aayalla planned to charge in or not, Takeshi waits to watch her. If Aayalla charges all the way across, Takeshi will do likewise, so she doesn't get surrounded. Otherwise he'll move once and ready an action to attack in the hopes of drawing them forward and away from that wall, so they can be flanked.

Aayalla Rand |

Sorry was out of town and my left hand was having a gout flare up and couldn't type yesterday. :) Is flying looked down upon? If not she will be flying if it is she will suck it up :)
Entering with Freedom of Movement and Fly.

Aayalla stands hovering above the coals. She blows her horn beginning her dances as she flies forward. When close she weaves the magic of her spells to dart over the head of the other team striking the chanter.
Bladed Dash attack on pink: 1d20 + 29 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 29 + 4 = 37
Damage: 1d6 + 20 ⇒ (4) + 20 = 24

Takeshi Yoshida |

Seeing that Aayalla was unlikely to get surrounded as she flies over a wall, Takeshi moves up almost parallel to Egare and prepares to strike anybody silly enough to come close.
Move to G8 and ready an action to defensively attack anybody who comes within reach.

Also, if anyone want to roll a reflex on your turn for the hot coals while touching them you can. Other than that I’ll roll them for you if you forget. Sorry I didn’t mention this before!
Aayalla hits and does some damage to the man.
Takeshi readies an action after he moves. He fails to avoid the hot coals and takes 1d6 ⇒ 2 fire damage.
Chanter (blue) begins chanting and Aayalla gets a sense of growing dread, causing you to take become shaken. He then casts a spell.

Moving to C13 and readying an action to claw Pink if he tries literally anything.
Égaré is mugging for the audience some.
Égaré simply walks across the searing coals as if nothing were the matter and taps one of the chanters with a heavy, clawed finger as if to politely remind him that he was here.

GM Deadly Secret |

I just noticed that chanter orange attack actually hit but when I was creating the post it actually missed. I'm gonna go with the original roll that it missed.
Égaré Reflex: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (9) + 16 = 25 takes half of 1d6 ⇒ 5 fire damage as he crosses the coals, then readies an action. I don't see anything on you that would prevent this, am I mistaken?
Égaré feels a sense of dread as he gets closer and is now shaken.

Aayalla Rand |

Just curious are they sound striking with weird words? It should be 2 rolls 1 for each word each word doing 4d6 sonic. I'm fine if you want the other to hit it did hit :) Also I assume you made her touch 22 as they were shooting into combat without precise shot?
Suffering from the hit Aayalla feels finally challenged. She moves up and full attacks the purple token from flanking position.

Takeshi Yoshida |

Takeshi blinks as the fiery coals cause him the first damage he had suffered thus far in the tournament. He stares at his feet in confusion until Say'ri's voice echos oddly through his head. He jerks his gaze up, grimacing as he notices they hadn't bothered to move closer. Stupid spellcasters. Let's see if I can't mess with their ability to cast a little bit. He then rushes forward at their singing foes.
Move to F14 and then attack blue. I assume I am likewise shaken and have included the penalty in my attack roll.
To hit, non-lethal: 1d20 + 27 - 2 ⇒ (9) + 27 - 2 = 34

Aayalla Rand |

I forgot about the non lethal. Yes there is no reason Aayalla would not have still been doing non lethal, but that would be another -4 to her attacks so the second may not have confirmed a critical. Thank you sorry for forgetting :)

Égaré cries out in pain from the attack and sinks to his knee in the hot coals, clutching his head in a show of terrible pain and anguish. However, the act is entirely transparent even before he takes his hands away from his face. His sclera, bloodshot at the best of times, are now flooded with red from burst blood vessels. Blood drips from his nose and ears as well. When the beast grins at the chanter, his own blood stains his teeth.
"Oh no, not me, my cully. I like a good fight," then the monster stepped in and tried to trap the unfortunate chanter between him and the force wall.

Ahreni, Fallen Angel |

Better to try. We can withdraw if it becomes too expensive. Ahreni opinions. We lose nothing in the attempt, or at least nothing we can't fix. If we win over the crowd then that's worth it. Ask if there are any other rules. Can I simply fly over the forest? Can we scry for the item first?
