Takeshi Yoshida |

Wait, is our exhibition match first or our actual bout? I thought our actual bout was in the late morning and the exhibition match was in the afternoon?

Aayalla Rand |

Aayalla accepts the prize with a smile. What the hell am I going to do with these? She thinks. After catching up with the others she is sad to hear of the messing with the competition.
"Ah I wanted to face people at their best. If it is effecting so many how did they do it? Why are we not effected? I guess we, I mean me need to be a little more cautious and less trusting. So do we really want to do an exhibition before our main fight? Not sure the reward is worth it still but if they group wishes so then I will do my best as always."

![]() |

There is risk and reward. Say'ris mental voice joins the debate. Risk of spending too many resources. Reward... could be great. I have wands of healing, so I can remove most damage, but diseases or strength draining is harder. We need more information - what is the exhibition? Can we forfeit if we are losing more than we want to give? What is the reward if we win?
If we can forfeit I say we go for it and simply pull out if needed. If it's more of a fight to the death then...hmmm. Prizes have been 50/50 so far.

![]() |

Let us fight. So far, we have had no trouble. Say'ri says, making the decision for the group. Do not die. Anything less than that I can fix.

Aayalla Rand |

So I will assume that was pretty easy info to gather from just random people.
"So seems by doing one match we signed up to do them all. So now we just got to win both. Should make it easier to keep the crowd on our side. Forfeit is always an option it seems. I'm in if the rest of you are."

GM Deadly Secret |

In the early afternoon, you are instructed to go to the bluff known as the Wall of Seven Winds, a 120-foot vertical cliff between New Harbor and the Grand Pavilion where the winds are known to always be particularly strong.
The wind whips across the curved, sheer cliff that surrounds the cove, rolling the deep water below into a white-capped froth. Several dozen boats bob on the rough water, their decks crowded with eager spectators focused on the cliff top.
You find Marthysan the Righteous standing before a small crowd atop the bluff. Several dozen boats are anchored in the cove at the base of the cliff, from which a larger gathering of onlookers eagerly watches the top of the wall.
A creature knocked from the face of the Wall of Seven Winds falls into the wind-tossed water below, taking applicable falling damage based on its height up the cliff face. Any creature who is knocked prone while on the cliff face falls. A plummeting creature can attempt a Reflex save to grab hold of the wall and stop its fall.
Among the visitors on the boats at the cliff’s base are two sorcerers whose job is simply to cast feather fall on any contestant who falls from the wall.
Marthysan gives each of you a pair of silk slippers (slippers of spider climbing) and instructs them to put them on. Your fight is to take place on the side of the Wall of Seven Winds, where they are to face off against Orometsu Yasi, known as the White Warrior, as well as a band of monks to even the odds. Orometsu is a stoic Tian-Min woman dressed entirely in white, with polished ivory-toned armor and a helm interwoven with the intricate braids of black hair upon her head; she bows nobly at all of you before walking over the edge of the cliff, climbing down the wall to a height of 60 feet, and stopping to wait for the PCs to engage her.
Marthysan makes sure you’re aware of the safety precautions in place and asks that they return their slippers after the battle. He also warns that anyone who falls from the wall and does not catch herself is eliminated from this event. Also, all forms of flight is banned from this fight.
You may precast spells 10 min/level or longer durations only before combat.

Imagine the wall is a bit more smoother than the picture, this is just what I picked up.
Up first, Aayalla Rand!

Takeshi Yoshida |

Speaking softly, Takeshi murmurs to his companions. "Interesting. Given the setup opponents will almost certainly attempt to trip us or to find some way to make us fall. We could attempt to do likewise, but I'm afraid it's one of my personal fortes unless you think they'd fall over from a good joke. Though it's also nice to see they took some safety precautions."
Just watch as I manage to get tripped and fail the reflex save. XD On the bright side, after reviewing my character/how CMD works, I realized that apparently my ring of protection improves my CMD.

Égaré |

Going in with Heroism, and False Life active
False Life: 1d10 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14
Would, by any chance, bull rush attempts also knock people loose?

Aayalla Rand |

"Oooo... Fun. Seems safe enough. I will knock down white face. You guys handle the monks if I fall.
She smiles as she slips on the slippers and goes walking over the cliff face. Being her normal quick self she reacts first in their stand off.
Swift: Start Performace
Move: Move forward a bit.
Standard: Balded Dash to J17 attempting a Trip Attack
Trip Attempt: 1d20 + 18 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 18 + 4 = 27
Parry will be used at first attack/trip attempt my way :)
Well hoping I was able to trip the lady and she fails her save the monks will probably try and trip me so I will parry the first and attack for non lethalI would trip but they will no longer be flat footed and I don't need to give them AoO where they can trip me :)
Parry: 1d20 + 27 ⇒ (12) + 27 = 39
Riposte: 1d20 + 27 - 4 ⇒ (2) + 27 - 4 = 25
Damage: 1d6 + 18 ⇒ (4) + 18 = 22 Non Lethal

GM Deadly Secret |

Aayalla moves in for a trip and successfully trips the woman. She begins to fall and fails to grab the ledge, she gets really close to the water before eventually she starts to feather fall.
Monk (blue) attacks Aayalla with a trip attempt CMD 24
Shang gou trip CMB: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (9) + 14 = 23
Miss This uses parry per your call out, but you can not Riposte as you used your swift action this round already. Keep in mind that an immediate action is a swift action.
Up next, Takeshi!

Takeshi Yoshida |

Lol! Did Aayalla just one-shot the person who was meant to be the main warrior in this fight? XD Also, if Aayalla wants to keep tripping people without the AoO, she does have Hideous Laughter. Though as monks, they probably have good Will saves.
Amused by how well Aayalla's tactic went, Takeshi tries to do likewise, taking advantage of his quick reflexes to try to get the jump on one of the remaining monks.
Charge to J18. I don't normally do combat maneuvers, but my understanding from this post is that for trip, disarm, and sunder, I get the benefit of all my feats/items/class abilities, making it basically the same as an attack roll.
Trip attempt vs orange monk: 1d20 + 27 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 27 + 2 = 48
AC 33, CMD 27 from charge until next round

Aayalla Rand |

Oh yeah you are right, sorry bout that :) Yep I considered Hideous Laughter but its only a DC 15 and so the monks probably have a good shot at making it. I figured I had a decent shot winning init so they were all flat footed :)
Takeshi: on Maneuvers. You don't have agile maneuvers feast so you are in the same boat as Aayalla. So CMB is strength based So you above roll is a 9 point swing. You go from +8dex to -1 str. With your roll you probably still did fine :)

GM Deadly Secret |

Takeshi moves in and trips the man and he fails to grab the ledge and falls.
Monk (green) uses a swift action and attacks Aayalla with a trip attempt CMD 24
Shang gou trip CMB: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (10) + 14 = 24
Hits
Aayalla roll a reflex. DC 19 or fall to the water.
He will 5 ft step up the wall.
Up next, Say'ri!

![]() |

Say'ri steps just off the top of the cliff and snaps off a single spell.
We seem to be doing fine. Say'ri is staying out of this. Everyone gets Blessing of Fervor though.
She starts with her demonhide on too.

Égaré |

Going to take the +2 to Attacks and AC (and CMD)
Charging trip attempt on Green
Trip (BoF, Hero, Charge): 1d20 + 19 + 2 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 19 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 38
Égaré, grinning horribly at how much fun this all was, goes sprinting down the side of the cliff and almost playfully swats at the lead monk with a clawed hand.

Aayalla Rand |

Yes you were tripped. In response to the attack
"Thanks for the blessing Say'ri."
Aayalla kips up with minimum effort.
Swift Action: Stand without provoking an AoO
Full Attack
Attack Non Lethal: 1d20 + 27 - 4 ⇒ (14) + 27 - 4 = 37
Attack 2 Non Lethal: 1d20 + 22 - 4 ⇒ (18) + 22 - 4 = 36
Attack 2 Non Lethal Confirmation: 1d20 + 22 - 4 ⇒ (8) + 22 - 4 = 26
Damage: 1d6 + 18 ⇒ (1) + 18 = 19 Non Lethal
Damage: 2d6 + 36 ⇒ (2, 5) + 36 = 43 Non Lethal
"This match is over surrender so you don't fall into the water knocked out."

GM Deadly Secret |

Égaré is now prone hanging from the wall.
Aayalla stands up and attacks the monk. She hits and does non-lethal damage.
Shang Gou Monk (blue) will move down to trip Aayalla CMD 24
Shang gou trip CMB: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (16) + 14 = 30
He trips Aayalla Roll a reflex DC 19 or fall to the water.
Up next, Takeshi!

Takeshi Yoshida |

Going to take the +2 attacks/AC/CMD/Reflex saves from BoF
Takeshi steps forward and focuses fire on the same monk Aayalla just attacked. Green monk, I believe? Though if he goes down, I'll switch to blue monk.
5ft step to K17 and then full attack. All attacks are non-lethal
Main 1: 1d20 + 23 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 23 + 2 = 36

AC 37/CMD 31

![]() |

Say'ri will keep passing so feel free to skip past her when her turn comes up - assuming that none of the monks try tp attack her of course!

Égaré |

Falling tackle (BoF, Hero, Height): 1d20 + 19 + 2 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 19 + 2 + 2 + 1 = 36
Perhaps annoyed at this game, the resident brute decides on a more immediate tactic. He simply lets go of the cliff face and spreads his arms wide, dropping like a stone towards the remaining monk.

GM Deadly Secret |

Overrun would only knock him off the wall if he exceeds by 5, so he has better chances trying to trip over anything. Remember the wall is considered ground when using spiderclimb. So just because you are airborn for a second, doesn't mean you fall. The magic of the slippers will just return you to your feet. The only way to get someone off this wall is to knock them prone or I suppose, let yourself fall.
Égaré lets himself fall onto the monk. He succeeds at knocking the monk prone and the two of you begin to fall.
Monk reflex: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21 He saves and holds onto the wall and is considered prone
Égaré Roll a reflex DC 19 or fall to the water.
Round 3
Up next, Aayalla!

Aayalla Rand |

Standing up as swift action again with blessing
Aayalla hops back up.
"This was fun. Now you fall"
Attack: 1d20 + 27 - 4 ⇒ (9) + 27 - 4 = 32
Attack 2: 1d20 + 22 - 4 ⇒ (16) + 22 - 4 = 34
Attack 2 Confirmation: 1d20 + 22 - 4 ⇒ (11) + 22 - 4 = 29
Damage: 1d6 + 18 ⇒ (1) + 18 = 19
Damage: 2d6 + 36 ⇒ (1, 6) + 36 = 43
Wasn't sure if I could trip again or attack the hand hold. So just doing non lethal figure it will end with Takeshi attacking.

Takeshi Yoshida |

Once again going to take the +2 attacks/AC/CMD/Reflex saves from BoF
Takeshi smiles inwardly at the doomed monk. Silly man should have spared himself this and just forfeited.
Full attack. All attacks are non-lethal. If he's still up after all this, Takeshi will then 5ft step to L17
Main 1: 1d20 + 23 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 23 + 2 = 26 Miss
Offhand 1: 1d20 + 23 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 23 + 2 = 32

Main Damage: 1d10 + 15 ⇒ (7) + 15 = 22
Offhand 2: 1d20 + 18 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 18 + 2 = 22

Offhand damage: 1d10 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20
Wow, only 1 roll broke a 10. :/
AC 37/CMD 31

Aayalla Rand |

Aayalla dances about waving at the crowd a bit before heading back up the cliff face. At the top she nods to the paladin.
"Well that was fun. A bit different but fun. So do we get to keep the slippers is that our prize?"

Takeshi Yoshida |

Takeshi watches as the last monk falls before following Aayalla up the wall to where Marthysan. "Yes, it was certainly a rather...unique fight. An interesting change to those I have participated in in the past." He removes his slippers and hands them over with a slight bow to the paladin.

![]() |

Very unusual. Even Say'ri's mental voice sounds dry. I think I'll just sit out next time.
She too removes her slippers and hands them back.
I imagine taking out the major opponent in the first blow rather shifted the balance of power.
