"It is in my experience", Krojun answers with a booming, if tired, laugh.

***

At the sight of the violated mausoleum, the big Shoanti looks on confusion.

"Is this man well known?"

---Before reaching the graveyard---

"Ah, but that depends on the woman. Me, I would prefer my lover to avoid getting the blood of Lamashtu's thrice damned offspring all over the sheets of my bed." The air seems to take a chill as the Ulfen shield maiden says this. The name of the Mother's of Monsters spat out like a curse.

---At the Graveyard---

Magnhildr squeezes her eyes shut for a moment, trying to clear the fog from her head.

"Probably some goblins playing games."

She shoulders the door the rest of the way open and let's the light from the shield shine into the crypt.

Magnhlidr

"I appreciate your answer too. Thanks to you both." Rohan starts blinking his eyes to stay awake as the strenuous activity finally takes its toll. It does not help as his thoughts are racing while he ponders the current situation. That and the enlightenment he has gained from his allies.

Graveyard
"Let's hope that's all it is."

"Ah Krojun ..." and looking of at the Summoner, "and you too Rohan, you make worthy flankmen ... whether in battle or at a bar." as Talon smiles to himself, quite satisfied.

He takes Magnhlidr's comment in stride, and tries for a more polite smile as if to ask for forgiveness.

... later ...

"Great, now they're robbing graves, that hardly seems the work of goblins."

F Dwarf Cleric of Abadar 2

"I can't imagine how the Shoanti women put up with that. Covered in blood... my word" responding to the big man's comments.

"Well that's just odd...
What would someone want from Tobyn's mausoleum?"
says Stralla as she peers into the darkness of the now open door.

You push the door open, and find two skeletons that move to act, but are cut down before they can react to your presence. In the corner is an old tattered robe; the only other thing of interest is what isn't here. The sarcophagus has been thrown open, and the body inside removed.

Krojun pokes the shattered skeletons' remains with the tip of his blade.

"Why would the goblins, or whoever is controlling them, want this man's remains? Who was he?"

F Dwarf Cleric of Abadar 2

"Sacrilege! Highpriest Tobyn's remains are gone! Whoever's behind this is going to get more than a piece of my mind!"

Stralla is visibly upset and her face flushes in anger and distress.

"That poor man. Such misfortune in both his life and death, to die with his daughter in that fire and now his remains are stolen and desecrated."

"What a day this has been... such odd circumstances... this.." Stralla waves at the empty sarcophagus, "and the goblin attack... and...", Stralla pauses for a moment as a stray thought of another odd circumstance comes back to her, "and Town Senior Kaijitsu missing all the day's events... Oh, by Abadar's grace, I pray he's alright... he should have been at the festival today! The goblins might have gotten him! We need to see if he's alright! Come on, let's go!", stralla urges the others to join her.

Magnhildr places her hand on the dwarf's shoulder to calm her and keep her from running off.

"Do we even know where to look for him? It's late and we are tired, 'Stralla. More than one warrior has been laid low because he thought himself invincible and foolishly went to battle when he should have rested. If you can tell me the one place he would be certain to be, we'll check there, but we can't afford to go hunting for one person all night when more gobbos might be about."

Her speech is slightly slurred from fatigue, and her eyes keep trying to glaze over, but there is little room for doubt about the warrioress's seriousness.

Male Aasimar (Angelkin) Monk 1

Magnhlidr has the right of it. We are all tired, and could some some rest. And if something had happened to Kaijitsu, there would have been more of a scene. I heard that he was simply sick today. Come, we should all get some rest and return to this in the morning.

Krojun nods, "To the garrison then."

Rohan with a mix of frustration and fatigue, reluctantly follows the group back. Maybe a night at the Dragon will make him feel better.

"Couple of skeletons and the empty tomb of a high priest if Stralla's right. What they want the body for can't be good." Magnhildr tries, and fails, to stifle a yawn. "Do you have anything else you need us to check in on?"

Good thing the fight with teh skeletons didn't last long, I don't think I can handle another fight tonight if it goes on too long.

Krojun suppresses a yawn as the long night begins to take its toll of even the big Shoanti's unflagging stamina.

"How fares the rest of the city? Is Sandpoint secured?"

The sheriff's already tired visage sags as the northern aasimar talks about an empty grave and he turns to Morstralla for further details, responding to Krojun as he does, "The rest of the city is fine; there were disturbance at each gate, the market square, and, as you know, the square in front of the cathedral, but they were quickly enough put down, aside from the one at the north gate, where for some reason, there were no guards present." He looks like extremely concerned as he looks to Morstralla for a full report before continuing.

F Dwarf Cleric of Abadar 2

Stralla calms upon hearing Wyran's comment that the elder Kaijitsu was sick today as well as Mags' calming hand and reasonable suggestion.

Once at the garrison, she looks out the window spying her Uncle's shop next door and the Old Light further away behind it and she reports what she knows to Sheriff Hemlock.

"Who would do such a thing? and why?", she says as she finishes, as much asking the Sheriff as just saying it aloud to the Gods.

"I need rest, too much work and such a late hour", she says quietly.
My emotions are running high because I'm overtired, she thinks, Fresh day, fresh start and a clear head... and a fresh pastry...

Talon debates whether to stay at the garrison or to head back to his room at the Rusty Dragon. He decides on the former. "I too am very tired, the night's drinks taking a heavier toll than normal. But I must go to my room to fetch my bow and a few other supplies. If we are to suppot the city's defenses I best have all of my equipment with me. I'll be back shortly."

Talon will make his way back to get his stuff and return, big extra mindful of more goblins as he does.

"Get some sleep, all of you. Whatever the threat was, it is over for now, and having extra people on the walls getting more and more weary will not aid anyone. We can discuss further steps when the town ranger returns. She is due some time in the next few days, and may have further clues as to what just happened and why. I will also figure out a proper reward for you in the next couple of days as well. In the mean time, relax and enjoy the town; I'm sure that there is something that all of you can find to keep yourself entertained, and as quickly as word spreads in a small town, you should find the locals quite accomodating." With that, the sheriff nods at you as he heads out to brief the other officials on the events.

General Sandpoint information is up on the campaign tab. If there is anything or anyone in particular you want to deal with, let me know. Otherwise, I will find ways to keep your characters at least partially occupied for the next few days.

Magnhildr just nods. Her eyes drooping to half-closed, she makes her way back to the Dragon with the others.

What a night... Should make for a good story.

That simple thought brought a sleepy grin to the barbarian's face.

Krojun happily returns to the Dragon to get some much needed rest. The big Shoanti is uncharacteristically quiet during the trip, plans for the following day already forming in his mind.

***

The following morning, Krojun is up at dawn. He 'greets the sun' with a low wordless song, naked as the day he was born. The song is as much a prayer to the spirits for guidance as it is a thanks for the gift of life. Once he's done he quickly dresses and finds his way to the common room to break his fast. With his belly filled, Krojun retrieves his weapons from his room and leaves the inn.

With the excitement from the previous night still fresh on his mind, the Shoanti resolves to learn more about why the spirits wanted him here. He starts by hitting the streets and asking around about any other strange happenings in the recent past.

Taking 10 on Diplomacy to gather information: 10 + 6 = 16

I'll assume this is enough to learn what's in the Sandpoint History tab of the campaign info.

Krojun frowns as the information is passed on to him.

Was the Chopper the start of these troubles or just a part of them?

Krojun wouldn't necessarily ask anyone to come with him but if you'd like to tag along, you're welcome to.

The next day, Rohan wakes still feeling a little tired from last night. Hegets up and calmly does the ritual to resummon his best friend, Copper. The little wyrmling is all abuzz with questions about what went on when he was away. Rohan answers what little he can, though to be honest he himself can not make much sense of it. Hopefully, the others will have more insight now that everyone is well rested. The summoner than equips his armor and weapons to head down for a meal.

He sees a few of his comrades from the festival and the multiple fights after also breaking their fast. He sees the Shoanti quickly eat his fill and head out like a man on a mission. Rohan finishes what he can and tags along with Krojun with Copper following behind, still chewing his food. Afterall, he seemed knowledgeable and the pair did not have anything better to do. Rohan in particular wanted to learn more from him.

Krojun hears Copperscale's excited chattering almost immediately after exiting the Dragon.

He greets the duo with a booming laugh and a mighty embrace.

"You two? I thought with the danger passed you'd be leaving Sandpoint."

Magnhildr stood in a vast hilly grassland with little dragons flitting about. The sun shined on their silver, gold, and copper scales, like a thousand thousand coins fluttering in the sky. As one they begin to ask her questions. Strangely, they all sound like Copperscale.

She wakes up and glares at the wall. She felt sore and tired, just like she did when she finally went to sleep.

"That wee lizard couldnae 'ave waited 'til noon."

She growls and grumbles as she gets up and splashes water on her face and washes the sleep from her eyes. She gets a whiff of her clothing and cringes as a musk of blood, sweat, and goblin funk assaults her nose. Fortunately it makes her wide-awake.

"Right, clothes, bath, then explain tae tha little wyrmling why waking up a warrioress is a bad idea."

She arrives down stairs just as Rohan gets his food. Seeing Krojun looking like he was busy trying to finish his meal in a hurry, decides to talk to the summoner instead.

"Morning! I hope you slept well." She grins at the pair and settles in a stool one down from them. "Do you have plans today? I was hoping that you could help me out with some shopping."

Yay another story!

"All the more reason to go! What's the point of living if everyday is the same?"

Finished with her small breakfast of fruit and honeyed tea, she hauls Rohan out of the tavern and into the street. Laughing a little the whole time.

"So which way, my captain?" She asks Rohan with an amused smirk.

Disregard my last post since it looks like Rohan's going clothes shopping instead.

Satisfied that he's done enough information gathering for the day, Krojun considers what to spend the rest of his day doing. Absently-mindedly he weighs his purse.

The elders sent me with a sizable amount of coin but if I am going to be in Sandpoint for a time, I will need regular income.

After a few hours of asking around where a strapping Shoanti warrior can get work in Sandpoint, the Pixie's Kitten becomes known to him. It would seem the proprietor, Kaye Tesaran favored hiring his kinsmen..

With a shrug of his broad shoulders, Krojun left to see a woman about a job.

F Dwarf Cleric of Abadar 2

Stralla arrives at the Dragon with a basket of fresh bread and pastries surprised to see that her compatriots up and ready to go already.

"I've brought you breakfast. I never thanked you all properly for your brave response last night, but I see you're already up and ready to check out the sights and... shop?"

At breakfast
As the non-locals gather for breakfast in the common room of the Rusty Dragon, they find that others are in there as well, and their conversation is constantly interrupted by various comments and questions regarding their participation in the previous night's events. Amongst them, however, is not Aldern, who presumably is still sleeping off his portion of the last's night events. Ameiko tells the party members that they have earned free room and board at the Rusty Dragon for life. Prominent amongst the others in the room is a table next to the party's where a group of mercenary looking type men are sitting, all a bit pale, and you hear constant references to "Whose grand idea was it?", "That water was the worst thing I've ever seen, and I've seen some pretty bad drink", and "Can we please change the subject? My stomach still wants to puke a bit". It would appear, after some listening, that the whole group of them managed to goad each other into attempting the challenge at the Hagfish across town of trying to win the prize for drinking a mug of water from Nora's tank. It clearly did not end well, though you suspect that it might make it a bit easier for the next brave soul if it happens in the next couple of days, as there are enough of them, Quinn might have actually had to put some comparatively fresh water in the tank to keep it full.

Shopping Group
As you approach the boutique, you pass Titus Scarnatti, who refuses to acknowledge any of the locals as they pass by, save for a hateful snarl at your destination and the woman out front sweeping, which is returned in full, and a brief nod to your small group. Hayliss Korvaski, the owner of the boutique, also greets you after a lingering hateful stare at Scarnetti. Her greeting to you is much nicer, "Please, do come in, I have many wares and trinkets, many from far off and exotic lands." As you enter, Copper is immediately distracted by the array of toys and trinkets that fill one of the walls. The rest of the shop has various clothes, artwork, books, tools, and even some weapons, mostly local in nature, but a fair bit that isn't. Magnhlidr is able to spot a few things that clearly came from up north, and Rohan spots one or two things that could have come from one of Hermea's neighbor's possibly, assuming they weren't clever counterfeits.

The Pixie Kitten
As Krojun enters the neatly kept brothel, the Shoanti bouncer at the door at the door nods respectfully, and he soon finds himself in the private parlor of it's owner, Kaye Tesarani, who asks how she may aid such a mighty hero.

He will freshen up, clean his clothes and make is way about town. He'll check in on his contacts along the docks and will inispect the area around the north gate, inquiring with any of the guards about who was supposed to be on detail last night and what might have happened to them.

Krojun bows slightly when he's introduces and smiles graciously at the praise.

"It seems that I will be in Sandpoint for some time and may have need of regular employment. Word of has reached me of your business here and the kindness and generosity you show those under your employ. I come before you seeking work."

"In these troubling times, one should want as many strong arms at their call as possible."

Male Aasimar (Angelkin) Monk 1

Last night...
Wyran says good night to his new companions, and returns to the House of Blue Stones for a night of quiet meditation and rest.

Next day..
The fatigue of yesterday having mostly passed, the quiet monk begins his morning with a familiar ritual. Age had already begun it's slow process on Wyran, but a mixture of his celestial heritage and want of self-perfection had allowed him to overcome the bodily limits his nearly 200 years had imposed on him.

He sets out towards the tavern, hoping to ask around why goblins would have attacked the village in such great numbers. He greets his fellows merrily as they pass each other, and he promises to catch up with them later.

Talon & Wyren
No one really knows much about what happened last night. The guards are hesitant to talk about details while the sheriff carries out his investigation of what happened and who might have been involved. Word about Father Tobyn's body is starting to get around, but only very slowly, and it's not a subject folks linger on.

Krojun
Ms. Tesarani ponders the Shoanti's words for a bit. "Well, I suppose I could use an extra bouncer until the festival crowds all return home, and your reputation would certainly not encourage anyone to try anything stupid. Come back this evening, and we'll see what kind of task we can find for you."

Talon does eventually find some places in the cemetery along the wall where ladders had been set, but finds no other new evidence or clues.

"You have my gratitude and you will not regret this", the big Shoanti offers stoically despite the grunts and sighs of pleasure echoing through the walls around him. "I will return tonight."

***

Krojun will spend the rest of the day going about the city gathering stories of people's experiences from the previous night.

Once the sun is down, he'll return to the Kitten.

I'm assuming that Magnhildr can find another explorer's outfit and some traveling clothes that fit her. Is there anything in Rohan's size?

Magnhildr chuckles as the little dragon goes off to look at the toys and trinkets. She looks around for a few minutes, and is a little surprised to find some things that could have come from Kalsgard or any of the other major trading ports up north.

"Tror ingen tenker på deres hjem som eksotisk."

Skald:
"Guess no one thinks of their home as exotic."

She finds a nice dress and blouse and a set of clothes more similar to what she was wearing.

"I believe I do. Let's see if they have something for you!"
