Well, Kharn, from what I saw up until now didn’t proved to be that guarding from anyone, which is one of the main points of the PsC.

Usually I would be against it, but if you feel it would helps, feel free to move into that class.

You know nothing, Aku Snow. You forget about Sir Reginold!!

Argan level 7th: Crimson Assassin 2
HP 61 + 1d8 ⇒ 8 +2 con = 71
Skill points: 6+1int+2 extra = 9
- +1 Acrobatics; +1 Bluff; +1 Perception; +1 Swim; +1 Stealth; +1 Intimidate; +1 Linguistics (abyssal); +2 Diplomacy.
- BAB +1
- Fort +1
- Feat: Leadership. Congratulations Vlad! Now you are officially my undead minion!
- +1 1st level spell/day
- New Spell Known - Clarion Call (+obscuring mist and true strike as a bonus).

Prayer Attack:
At 2nd level, a Crimson assassin learns her signature assassination style. To initiate a prayer attack, she holds her sawtooth sabre (or sabres) out, point down, and weaves the blade in the air. She must be within 30 feet of and visible to her victim. Beginning a prayer attack is a standard action, and causes her victim to be fascinated by her unless he makes a Will save (DC 10 + the Crimson assassin’s class level + her Charisma modifier—if she’s wielding two sawtooth sabres, this DC gains a +2 bonus). She can maintain the fascination effect by concentrating. The victim may attempt a new save to escape fascination each time a threat (other than the fascinating assassin) appears. At any point after 3 rounds, she may make a coup de grace attack against the target, provided the target is still fascinated. Activating or concentrating on maintaining a prayer attack does not provoke an attack of opportunity.

Assassins, Assemble!

I'll ask this in discussion to keep the game play thread clean, but how much would you estimate a regular backpack could hold, and would there be any limit besides the characters strength score as to how much weight the backpack could hold?

I think we should have Seth carry all the gems, and coins we found since they won't weigh too much all together. While having Kharn and Argan fill up their backpacks with as much of the gold items as is possible. We may want to consider renting a cart to get the rest of the silver and gold items out.

  • It's a lot of coins.

    Check the carrying capacity and the current weight you all are carrying.
    Ultimately, don't make too much difference, it just means you cannot carry everything at the same time.

    Also, you cannot sell everything at the same time. Farhold does not have a big market for such things.
    Given any day, you can sell 4,4gp in value.
    In any given month, you can sell yup to 25kgp in items.

    I think we should travel by day. We can talk to the Baron for Vlad's problem.

    Nevermind about the coins not weighing that much lol. If we can only get around 4,400 gp per day then all the gems would total up to 1,992 gp (This includes the bag full of shiny jewelry). We could try to bring along the six chests (5,500 gp) which would allow us to sell some of it on the day we arrive and then more on the next day as we leave (along with some material for rebuilding). Kharn can hold about 250 lbs. of the chests (or closest weight value) if he leaves his chain shirt behind. Argan has a great big strength score, so I think he can carry the rest of the chests. The chests might take up too much space and in that case one of our purchases can be a cart to lug some of the loot back to the market.

    About Cohort: Kharn would be looking first and foremost for someone who seems to be in touch with nature or divine magic such as a druid, shaman, oracle, or cleric to help him run his organization as Kharn will be the muscle and they will be the adviser on the spiritual health of the group. Another plus would be if they worship or at least regard Asmodeous favorably. Note Kharn isn't looking at Seth as a candidate as Seth already seems to be more attached to Lilpenny and Kharn wants to keep it that way so Lilpenny has even more guardians. Also, Kharn doesn't consider the boggard priest as an option because he's really into Dagon and Kharn is not sure about the boggard's loyalty to him.

    If he couldn't find or hear about anyone who seems to fit that bill then he would like to try and find another warrior who seems to be good at defending people to help him guard Lilpenny like a fighter, ranger, or maybe even a monk. In this case Kharn would be looking entirely for someone who always keeps their word and would be willing to lay down their life for Lil.

    How many corpses do I have available to me, and how many HD does the treant possess?

    The Storyteller

  • 100 + 2d6 ⇒ 100 + (6, 6) = 112 1HD skeleton bones.
  • One (1) 8HD boggard barbarian
  • Three (3) 3HD boggards
  • One (1) 12HD treant
  • One (1) 6HD Minoutaur

    Remember: Creating Bloody/Burning Skeletons is more expensive, they count as twice their normal number of Hit Dice for total to be created with a single spell, and to decide the onyx price.

  • Female Dhampir Gnome Wizard (Cruoromancer) 7 HP 53/53 | AC 13 | T 13 | FF 11 | CMD 13 | Fort +7 | Ref +6 | Will +6 | Init +5 | Perc +1 | SM -1

    Any creature that gains its HD from levels basically counts as a 1 HD since animating them doesn't retain class levels. I imagine that boggard barbarian will just count as another boggard since I have no intention on reanimating him as an intelligent undead.

    I'll be making a bloody skeleton out of the treant.

    Treant Bloody Skeleton 24 HD, 600 GP (using desecrate from Seth to double HD limit for animate dead)
    Minotaur Bloody Skeleton 12 HD, 300 GP
    Burning Skeleton x3 6 HD, 150 GP

    Total 42 HD, 1050 GP

    Lilpinny has a class ability that allows her to control her caster level x5 HD worth of undead, so she can control 35 HD instead of 28. On top of that she has the command undead feat which allows her to control another 7 HD worth of undead, putting her at 42 total.

    Lil already had 2000 GP worth of onyx gems, so I marked off 1050 from them.

    The treant will be doing in death what it did in life: guarding the front of the Horn. Anybody coming to the front door should have to go through it first.

    The minotaur will be Lil's personal bodyguard. As wonderful and effective as Kharn is, he has more important things to do than follow around Lil all day.

    The burning skeletons will be with the treant during the daytime, but during the night they will circle the horn a good distance out to scout for anybody approaching. They will be spread evenly apart to cover as much ground as they can. The nice thing about burning skeletons is that if one of them gets destroyed by something approaching, we will see the fire go out in the night.

    @All

    Some of you may have saw it on recruitment: I’ve last week opened a recruitment for one of my WotW games, since a priest dropped and game went to three players.
    That’s concluded and I got the replacements, however there were some interesting submissions which I think we could add to this game.

    With that in mind, I had an Cleric Unholy Barrister application that seemed good enough.

  • Female Human Cleric– Zoé Harman {Calinthas Aldimay}
    Min-Max? No
    Posting? Good Frequency
    One Linier? No
    Role-player? Good descriptions, good postings.

    Anyway, this character seems good and it is a fit for this game. And I’ll take off some the workload on Lil keeping the only ‘divine’ caster in the party and give her time to be more Lil and less Seth. What you guys think?

    Yeah, unfortunately our GM had to leave for real life reasons, but we had a good run... I'm glad to be able to pickup in roughly the same place where that game ended (can't do Brandescar again lol)

    GM Aku wrote:

    No problem, I'll just swap in Combat Casting then. In any event, I based the spending on what you had for the other recruitment thread Aku; let me know if that was too much or too little (17K if I recall correctly).

    Also, not sure if I roll HP or not; presently, I just used 5HP per hit die and max first level.

    HP = Max First Level + 6d8 + Con Bonus 6d8 + 8 + 14 ⇒ (7, 1, 4, 3, 7, 8) + 8 + 14 = 52

    How about that, that is exactly what I calculated using max first level and 5HP per HD.

    I think Zoe is up to speed now. Background, I need to fill in the gap between Brandescar and the Horn; my thought was that perhaps she was in close service to the Cardinal (being a loyal Asmodean**) but has been sent out to the Horn since it is a vital mission in his schemes.

    ** On Loyalty:
    Unlike my last character WotW character, Zoe one is a loyal to the Cardinal's cause. Caladwhen disliked the Cardinal, Tiadora and their lot intensely, and was fully intending on throwing off their yolk once the contract was complete.

    Zoé is the younger of two children born to Lord Rémi and Lady Clarisse Harman, an aristocratic family traditionally loyal to House Barca and worshippers of Asmodeus. While the Victor and his descendants now ruled in Talingarde, they had struck a conciliatory note with allies of the Barca in order to ensure peace; this agreement allowed the Harman to retain their wealth and privilege, albeit at the cost of their influence and renunciation of their allegiance to the Dark Prince. While outwardly accepting and supportive of the devout Mitran regime of the Markadian, the Harman family has always harbored sympathies for a return of the Barca, and has even secretly plotted against the Markadian whenever the opportunity has presented itself as it did under during the great purges of Markadian IV.

    Being born to the wealthy elite in Glastenhall, Zoé and her older brother Damian were raised with luxury and privilege. As such, Zoé was given many opportunities that many could only dream of, and due to her keen intellect and an affinity for her scholastic studies, she excelled at all of her academic pursuits. While her brother pursued a martial path and was trained in the art of war, Zoé went to college and trained as a barrister and a diplomat, and joined the court of Markadian V with her father. It was at this time she learned of the dark past of her family, her father revealing the true nature of the Harman allegiance to Asmodeus. Never a fan of the Markadians, both Zoé and Damian took to secretly worshipping the Dark Prince as their forebears had, and joined their father in covertly working against the rule of Markadian V.

    Working within the royal court by day, Zoé and her her brother joined secretly with fellow Asmodeans and those simply fed up with the Markadian to bring back the Barca. Their seditious operations grew in scale and ambition, starting out with simple raids on tax collectors but growing eventually to outright attacks on government institutions and the Markadian family itself. It was during the planning of a particularly ambitious plan to kill everyone in the royal court with an explosion that Zoé and her fellow conspirators were finally discovered. The trial was swift and short; Zoé was pronounced a traitor and a heretic, and was sentenced to be beheaded alongside her brother and fellow conspirators. In order to save the family fortune, her parents disowned them in public, and re-affirmed their allegiance to Markadian and claimed no knowledge of their children’s treachery. While upset, Zoé understood her parents actions, though her brother was less forgiving. Both siblings were sent to different prisons before their sentence would be carried out; Damien was deemed to be dangerous, and was sent to Brandescar, while Zoé awaited her fate in Glastenhall county prison.

    For Zoé, it was good fortune that she was sent to the relatively low security prison in Glastenhall as opposed to the more fortified Brandescar, for while the authorities consider Zoé to be a low risk for escape from the county jail, they never considered that somebody might try to break her out. On the eve of her execution, a beautiful Mitra priestess with platinum blond hair and green eyes came to visit Zoé, claiming to be her confessor. Being eager to see Zoé repent at her execution, the Markadian guards allowed her to meet privately with the Mitran priestess. What they didn’t know was that Mitran was actually a servant of Cardinal Thorn, a devil by the earthly name of Tiadora. In her secret meeting with Tiadora, Zoé was provided an iron circlet, and was given a vile blessing that allowed her to physically blink from one spot to another when in danger. (Note: One of her domain powers)

    On the morning of the execution, Zoé allowed herself to be led to the chopping block. When given leave to say her last words, she was expected to repent, but instead she simply said with a knowing wink "Asmodeus be praised!" With that, Zoé blinked into the crowd that had gathered, and immediately disguised herself using the circlet and slipped away. The chaos and confusion she had caused allowed her to escape Glastenhall easily, and she immediately made her way to the Cardinal’s Manor as Tiadora had instructed her.

    Zoé has spent the last several months working and training alongside Cardinal Thorn, a man whom she holds in high esteem both for his intelligence, and his strength of faith in Asmodeus. Gaining power and knowledge in his service, Zoé began to yearn to take the battle to the Markadians once more. On several occasions, she asked the Cardinal to send her to work with one of the Knots, to help the cause in a more hands on way; though he was reluctant to send her at first, he recognized her intelligence and ability and decided she could be of great service alongside the Ninth Knot, who are presently working to raise Vetra-Kali at the Horn of Abbadon.

    @Zoe

    I don’t mind that freedom to describe the power at your history, however in game terms it has other uses than you described. It’s not used to avoid melee attacks as you described in your character sheet, instead, it can only be used after you are missed by a melee. Check bellow the description:

    Associated Domain: Trickery.

    Replacement Power: The following granted power replaces the copycat power of the Trickery domain.

    Sudden Shift (Sp): In the blink of an eye, you can appear somewhere else. As an immediate action, after you are missed by a melee attack, you can teleport up to 10 feet to a space that you can see. This space must be inside the reach of the creature that attacked you. You can use this power a number of times each day equal to 3 + your Wisdom modifier.

    Replacement Domain Spells: 2nd—mirror image, 7th—project image.

    @Kharn, Argan

    About cohorts.

    There are some NPCs that can be taken as cohorts if you want it:

  • The lordling of Drownington (Fighther/rogue)
  • The headmaster of the Orphanage (Wizard)

    There’s the advantage they already integrate into your ‘organization’ minions.

    If they don’t appeal to any of you, please tell me and I’ll think of some others;

    Right, of course; I was just taking a little creative license with the background :)

    My week is shaping up to be extremely busy and I will most likely have to spend most of it away from the boards. Please GMPC as necessary. Sorry for the inconvenience.

    That wizard does suits my needs, specially since we will need spells to protect the place.

    Did you mean "Kharn" in the second part of your last post?
