dotting...
My 2nd and 3rd over-ran.
Sorry, I need one day more or so to finalise my spell selection!

"Console Cowboy" |

Okay, think I got this working.

As I said in the recruitment, please do not read any spoiler not for you. Each of you will be getting different plot elements, including some related to your backstories, and I want you all to be able to share them with the group or not as you desire.
Fortunately, I now have most of the main part of the initial posting taken are of. You should be able to join each other soon and get a chance to learn things about the others, using the spoilers that I am still working on for some of you.
Thanks for your patience, and I look forward to what is coming greatly.

It's certainly odd having a game where you only know 20% of what's going on or who's involved.
Also as someone who in RL games tends to fill out the party (i.e. I'm happy to play anything so fill out what roles seem to be missing). So not knowing whether we're a rounded or focussed group, it's a bit odd.

Hypatia Kuningatar |

It sort of reminds me of a game format my University RPG Society uses which is a mixture of live-action and play-by-post. Each week you would receive a personal (and private) response to what your character had been up to for that time period and a news update which all the players (or all the players in a faction) saw. The feeling of stuff going on but not knowing what is very similar.

Vrog Skyreaver |

Part of my intent for this game (and indeed for a lot of games I run) is to allow people to play what they want. Too often I see people (including the same person multiple times) fall into the trap of "well, I wanted to play a rogue, but there were already 4 rogues in the group and we really need a cleric", so I like to run games where people make characters without consulting the party first, so that if everyone shows up with a rogue, they can all play what they want.
I don't always do this, of course, but I try to do it where I can. It tends to make the game more entertaining for everyone, even if there are more character deaths or healing becomes consumables based.

"Console Cowboy" |

Alright, was traveling for a few days. Will try to catch up.

"Console Cowboy" |

Out of curiosity, does the Rat's terrible blood thing count as either a poison or a disease? Asking for.... a friend...

"Console Cowboy" |

Ah, got it, so it's sort of a telekinetic attack.

"Console Cowboy" |

Hmm, wonder if I should've sprung for Conjure Knowbot. Would've let me actually hack into the internet through a security camera... ah well. Should those of us staying behind be rolling knowledge checks on the "dangerous" prisoners, or does that wait until I can find a way to patch into wikipedia (adventurepedia)?

Vrog Skyreaver |

Okay, a couple of quick things:
As far as making knowledge checks on the "monsters" goes, it's really not a thing you can do, since the league has basically removed all information regarding their existance from any database anywhere. The three you've seen so far: The being made of plasma, the girl, and the shadow being are going to be villains that both groups will likely have to deal with.
As far as making knowledge checks on each other, give me a day or two to get things locked down and then I'll let you each make checks on the others. I need to get a gameplay thread built for the people who are going with the Rat, and then I'll get that storyline hopping.
Speaking of, am I right in that everyone but 626 has decided to stay in prison?

"Console Cowboy" |

I think 1 or 2 other people were on the fence?

S¡m¡lé |

Should we divide up a bit more? Simile could change her mind, though she is an idealist and would view working for Rat as way of working against him from within, rather than truly join his cause.

"Console Cowboy" |

Eh. A few people initially seemed interested in working with him, but maybe that was before it was clear this was a choice to split.

626 |

I initially decided to join him because I thought it would be cool if I found out things in (what is so far but may not be exclusively) my thread and started dropping hints to the good guys or became a kind of friendly(?) force on the inside of the Rat's operation. If that's not possible then 626 may have some thinking to do.

"Console Cowboy" |

I mean... heroic alignments and all, it's a pretty divisive choice to say "we're the murder faction," so, fair enough. He could've probably posed it as more of a lawful vs chaotic split, but the specifics of this plan seem more good vs evil (as in, classic superhero teams instead of, say, watchman type teams)

Vrog Skyreaver |

to answer your questions 626, you're not sure what your ability to communicate with the party would be like, although probably not good, considering that doing dead drops takes time to set up.
As far as the good vs. evil thing goes, even when telling such stories, I try to make both sides (if not something you can agree with) internally consistant and strive to make them both appealing, or at the very least understandable as to why they do the things they do.
And I couldn't have everything go the Rat's way, because then you wouldn't have a chance to choose (as who would choose to oppose someone who could scramble your central nervous system, or cause blood clots in your brain?)

626 |

Just so you know where I am, I would like these threads to have some contact. Pathfinder is a group game, after all. So I would like these threads to feel like the same game world, and anything I can do to help make that happen I will gladly do. If that is just too much I am totally ok with bringing 626 into the main group somehow.
