So the standard action you guys for locked door is for Elliot to put down his shield, take 20 on disable device with masterwork tools for a 25 total
While Elliot is working on the door with his shield next to him for a few seconds 5d20 ⇒ (2, 5, 10, 20, 19) = 561d20 ⇒ 3 Clandelve and Glorin notice something climbing up out of the pit
Init Bonething: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Init Elliot: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Init Kalaron: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (14) + 0 = 14

Init Glorin: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Init Sickly: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
It's a medium sized long, sinuous skeleton of a large snake, its head a humanoid skull with a snake’s jaws.

"Ach go back down will ya?" Kalaron grumbles as he takes a swing with his axe.
Knowledge (Religion) 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Swing 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 101d12 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

it appears two can be adjacent to it. If so, I move up and attack. If not, I guess double move the opposite way to flank it.
Clandelve's war axe was quickly in his hand. Moving toward the creature slithering up the wall, he swung his axe in a sweeping arc before him.
waraxe atk: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

![]() |

It indeed climbed out and is not flying.
Kalaron tries very hard to remember what this snake bone thing could for some sort of undead but can't come up with anything other then the possibility that it might be made from bone, but not be undead.
He then moves forward to take a swing at it but only manages to the hit the spaces between it ribs instead of hitting the actual ribcage.
Clandelve rushes past Kalaron and his giant axe to try to get a hit in with his smaller axe..but duplicates the results from Kalaron..only swinging it between the creatures ribs and not hitting anything

Clandelve tried to resist the hypnotic swaying of the creature, but could not. It was much too fascinating. will save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
most of us should fail this. Have a nice fight, those that happen to make it!

![]() |

Oy... this is going to be ugly
Willpower Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15 ...
ok then...
Sickly shakes his head, dispelling the hypnotic motion of the creature. Seeing some of his companions are not so lucky, anger overcomes him, and he moves foward to defend them.
Alright, was waiting to see if Clandelve made his and would be moving into that vacated space... but would appear not... he's in the space I'd need to be in to use the longhammer, curses!
Sickly moves past his dazed companion his face going red, drawing his club from off his belt as he does so. He drops the longhammer when he gets there, and swings his club with both hands!
Club's the only alternate weapon out of all of mine that I can two-hand (all the rest are light... should of thought of that!)
Melee PA, rage: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24, for 1d6 + 7 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 7 + 3 = 11
Bah, minimum damage

As Elliot moves forward both Clandelve and Glorin stand around mesmerized by the back and fort swaying of the snake made out of bone.
Sickly how ever is not fooled by the tantalizing sight and moves forward drawing his club as he goes and manages to take a swing at the things rib cage, cracking a few of it's ribs

To keep things going I'll just roll for Kalaron's will save for now
Will save Kalaron: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 5 + 1 = 18
Kalaron can change his action if he wants, but for now I'll just have him cast guidance on himself
Doing a bit of Paizo promotion now; as you may or may not know, there are some items you can buy that will give you a re-roll on a D20 - T-shirts and the character folio. Now I happen to own a character folio and since I as the GM am not allowed to use it, it could be that I possibly loaned it to one of you at the start of the game, so let's assume I lend it to Clandelve for this
Reroll will Save Clandelve: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Sorry Clandelve, still no action for you
The bonesnake bares his fangs and tries to bite down on Sickly 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9 but the though dwarf is easily able to side step the attack.
init
Sickly, Elliot, Kalaron (Clandelve and Glorin stand around drooling a bit - 5 more rounds to go)
Bonesnake
Damage bonesnake: 11

Back from my local Con where Mike Brock slaughtered a table for King of Storval Stairs. Sorry for the late wait. My action is to Cut stuff! I also do own a character Folio myself. Can I have someone else to make a reroll? I got Cool GM Boons though.
Kalaron squints as he tries to make out what the snake was doing, failing to do so he reverses his grip and send his weapon swinging!
Swing 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 211d12 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
"What are ye lads doing? Keep Swinging!!" he grumbles, his arms already aching from that effort...

![]() |

Kalaron, you were in range for your reach weapon last round, but the critter took a 5' slither back, and you're now 15' away...
That is correct...unless you want to throw your weapon as a full-round action with a -4 to hit/draw a one handed weapon to throw at it ...you can't hit the creature right now

![]() |

Kalaron can adjust his action using the dice roll he already made, since the damage won't be enough to bring the snake down I'll just take the bonesnake's next action and the rest of you can take another round again
The Bonesnake turns his head between Elliot and Sickly..on one hand the only one of you that's damage it so far..on the other hand someone preventing him from making an escape...1S2E: 1d2 ⇒ 2 it decides to try to stick it's fangs into Elliot To bite Elliot: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20 Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9 and a DC13 fort save (not poison) or be paralyzed
I suggest not failing the fort save

Sounds like fun, guess I had a bit more luck when I played that one..since my party slaughtered the enemies. We had a few rounds to prepare for the final combat and someone used those to cast his highest summon monster spells...makes any fight a bit unfair. And on the character folio, you can give it to someone now...or keep it yourself. But you only get one use out of it (and the GM star bonus only applies if you reroll a die for yourself, it will only work once, it won't work for any roll made so far and you'd have to pick who get's to hold the folio now

could Kalaron drag Clandelve back a space so he could attack over Sickly?
Sickly continues his onslaught with the club, though his breath is starting to sound labored.
dunno if elliot will still be flanking once he rolls that save... Add 2 to the attack if he is!
melee, PA, rage: 1d20 + 6 - 1 ⇒ (16) + 6 - 1 = 21, for 1d6 + 7 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 7 + 3 = 16

![]() |

Yeah..but that would require a drag combat maneuver ..and Clandelve doesn't have any penalties to his defenses..and I think we all know that moving a dwarf ain't easy ;)I've never been able to find a rule that says you allow someone to move you when you're not unconscious
I'll post results of your attack tomorrow to give Kalaron a chance to alter his action and to see what Elliot rolls

![]() |

Well I'll 5'foot step along if I could else I'll well....cast Guidance......

![]() |

Check the map, Kal... part of the problem has been that the bonesnake thing dazed folks who now can't move to allow others to get into a position to attack... in this case Clandelve is in your way for a 5' step... dunno if you can squeeze into his space anyway, and attack.

![]() |

I haven't found any rule allowing 2 characters to share a space (unless you get into weird stuff like one of them being a mount or being unconscious, or there's a 2 size category difference..but since in this case it won't matter a whole lot because I know what the outcome will be ..to keep things moving I'll just do something.
Kalaron with a mighty heave swings his long hafted axe above his head with 2 hands and with a scream of frustration hurls it past Clandelve and Sickly at the Bonesnake (using guidance) at the same time Sickly smashes into the things ribcage smashing it to pieces...it's skull falls to the floor and rolls a few feet before it stops at Elliot's feet.
Sickly bends forward and picks up the weapon which was just thrown and hands it back to Kalaron
Combat over, I just need Elliot's fort save now and we'll pick it up from there after about 4 rounds of you guys watching Clandelve and Glorin drool a bit

![]() |

One thing after the other...
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 see what happens when I hurry
Should I continue with the door or should we better get out of this room?

![]() |

egads, minutes? mean paralysis
Once the bone snake-like creature finally crumbles beneath Kalaron's thrown axe, Sickly, stumbles back to lean against the wall, his breath coming in wheezing gasps. Whatever anger had washed over him seemingly passed on.
"They gonna be alright?" He asks the warpriest, as Glorin and Clandelve continue to stare unresponsive, and Elliot becomes completely unmoving.
6 rounds of fatigue to recover from 3 rounds of rage
He puts his club back on his belt, and retrieves his longhammer from where he dropped it.
Eventually he seems to get his breath back just after Glorin and Clandelve finally recover.
He pulls a small wand out of his pack, and looks at Kalaron, motioning towards the paralyzed and injured Elliot. "Can you use this on him? Maybe it will help?"
Kal can use Sickly's cure light wounds wand on Elliot before he comes around.
Then once he gets some motion back, continue with the previous action of unlocking the secret door! Though I suppose we can take the time to scope out the other door while we wait.
Take a 20 and get guidance, for a 30 perception on the eastern door, assuming its stone (28 if not).

![]() |

Clandelve still did not seem himself, or perhaps did not remember what had happened. He pounded his dwarven boulder helm with his gauntlet-clad fist, hoping to clear his head.
Finally, he moved with Sickly to check the eastern door.
Good plan! Let's check out the eastern door while Elliot opens the other.

Can't see the map from phone and the hospital doesn't have wifi......Something to do with the medical equipment.
Seeing the others drooling after accepting his axe back, Kalaron summons water to splash on them. Seeing not the effect he wanted, he settles for just waiting for the two to snap back to reality.
Meanwhile accepting Sickly's offer, he heals the rest as needed.
