Considering that even one more hit against me would've toppled me, I feel like that was luck more than anything keeping me alive. Although this match would've been over right at the beginning if I hadn't been so unlucky as to lose initiative

Despite the fact that it was Fes who fell first, Sevia couldn't help but drop to one knee painfully as she tried to keep her senses about her. The cheers seemed almost deafening from the viewing stands even way out here in the center of the ring. Casting another round of Infernal Healing as she slipped off her mask to wipe her brow as her spells began to fade and she returned to normal size. She watched as Brent rushed out to give her a healing potion much to her surprise - he seemed to care for her quite a deal to expend so much money on her.

A moment later, human eyes met fetchling and she grinned. "It was close, I had to pull out all the stops just to make this an even fight." Sevia chuckled as she sheathed her sword - grasping her fallen daggers with Mage Hand and returning them to their sheaths as well, before giving Fes a polite bow. "You'd make Aldori himself proud."

"Nn. He'd send me back to basic training." she said, shrugging as she looked down at her ripped clothing. "...Have to sew this up again. Well, at least what we won on the previous fights should cover it." Behind her, you can see the referee motioning for you to leave the stage - there are quite a few others who are still competing today, and after a moment, the injured slave started making her way towards the exit of the arena. It seems like you're welcome to follow along, if you'd like... or rest for the day, and perhaps work to finish up a bit of crafting. Either way, it may not be easy to avoid the attention of crowd now that you've defeated one of the favorites in the tournament... and probably caused quite a few people to lose their money on bets!

"You should give yourself more credit." Sevia chuckled, more at the fact that Fes probably didn't even realize just who she'd defeated. Fighting a godling and defeating one was no simple task. Though she hoped her next opponent wasn't nearly as difficult. Nodding to the referee, Sevia proceeds offstage with the injured swordswoman, pulling out her Scrolls of Cure Light wounds and casting it on herself.

Expend 2 spells and 1 mythic power to cast Infernal Healing. UMD both scolls

2d8 + 2 ⇒ (8, 7) + 2 = 17

5+30+17=52hp. With a full night's rest, I'll recover another 7hp and barely get back to full hp

"My word, first the wizard and then you. I've had to expend quite a lot of healing power to keep myself patched up today" Sevia remarked as she attempted to get her scrolls to work - they were divine after all and not among her repertoire. She figured she might talk a little to these two a bit, but she definitely wanted to complete the rest of her crafting. She'd have to get to sleep early and wake up even earlier to have her sword done by tomorrows fight.

How many more fights are left?

Another two fights or so.

"That happens in tournaments like this." Fes agreed, nodding slightly. "Some events are only to first blood, or to surrender, but this event is more brutal than I've seen in quite some time. I suppose it'd have to be, considering what they're offering as prizes." Her collar glinted slightly in the sunlight as she tilted her head a little. "People seem to enjoy the sight of others bleeding for their entertainment... I never did figure out why." she sounded slightly confused by the issue.

"They enjoy the thrill of battle, but are scared of its sting. So they watch safely from the sidelines while real warriors fight." Sevia replied with some certainty. Those types always loved to watch but put a sword in their hands and they'd crap their pants before the first swing. It was clear at least that she didn't value the crowd too highly. "But what about you? You're a curious sight." Sevia said with some interest, looking between her and Brent. "You certainly don't carry yourself like a slave, and neither does he as a slaver." she said rather bluntly.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

The slave girl just grinned as her master tried - and failed - to appear like he wasn't listening to the conversation. "The popular depiction of slaves as masses of people abused for no good reason makes a good story, but it's not terribly close to reality. Not everywhere, at least." she mused thoughtfully. "For example, some places allow people to put themselves into slavery to pay off their debts - and while they're there, the laws protect them from abuse, they have a roof over their heads, and their families are allowed to stay together with them. It's not so different from how most people live and work, except they're called an extra name. Smart masters recognize that property is valuable - and that treating it with care and respect is the best way to get what they want. Slavery's everywhere in the world, whether it's tenants who can't afford to move or laws that are set up so that only the nobles ever have actual power. At least we don't need to lie about our relationship or pretend it's anything except what it really is." she shrugged. "I suppose all the abolitionists have a point in societies where slaves are constantly abused, but... it's actually worked out pretty well for me."

Sevia just smiled as the girl talked, apparently impressed by how learned she actually was. One didn't take slaves as being intellectual or thoughtful. And she seemed quite honest about her situation. Well...Sevia had been gone for thousands of years, she supposed even slavery of all things HAD to evolve. "It does indeed. But I would wager you are the exception, not the rule. The practice has simply never sat well with me. But it is perhaps less barbaric than I recall it being so long ago." Realizing what she just implied, Sevia was suddenly very quiet. Looking around her a moment, Sevia leaned in closer to Fes.

"I am...much older than I seem." She said cryptically, quieter than she had been talking before. "I have had a long time to watch evil and do nothing, I have even fallen to it before. But I am a changed woman now, and I don't take kindly to such things now." she said with a seeming fire to her eyes.

The self-proclaimed Swordslave tilted her head just a bit as she thought... then nodded. "It's one's efforts that matter, not the results."

"Is that how you're going to describe today?" Brent asked, raising an eyebrow as he looked over. Fes merely smiled as she strode out into the sunlight, her pale hair almost glowing. Even now, her steps were swift and sure, a reflection of one who lived their life without doubting themselves.

"No, I think I'll remember today as my motivation to get even better." she rested one hand on the hilt of her blade. "I do have my pride as a student of the Aldori school, and I'll never hear the end of it if I give up now." she glanced towards you. "I suppose I'll take a nod from the Baron himself... and the next time we meet, I won't be so easy to beat." Brent just sighed and shook his head.

"Crazy woman..." he muttered under his breath. "Come on, let's get those clothes fixed up before everyone starts gawking at you." As obediently as anyone could wish, Fes fell into step just behind him, though she did give a small wave as she went.

Hearing Fes challenged Sevia simply let out a bark of laughter, 'Easy to beat? Hardly!' Sevia thought as she wiped a genuine tear from her eye over the proclamation. "Of course, of course! I look forward to it! You still have a lot of potential, but don't think I won't be getting any stronger either. Next time we cross blades it should be very interesting." She said right back with a wink.

"I certainly hope you'll at least stay to watch my last few matches." Sevia said, waving back as the two walked off to see to the girl's clothes.

Sevia meanwhile, headed right back to her inn room to get an early night's rest and instructed Epyon to wake her in another 8 hours. Just a little more work and she'd have her new sword completed.

Is is possible to bet on my own matches?

No, it isn't.

Getting some rest isn't quite as easy as it should have been - more than a dozen people interrupt you before you even reach the Inn, asking quite a few questions that they probably shouldn't have. More than a few seem very interested in getting to know more about you... though not in the romantic sense. Except for one who could very well be a stalker now.

Meanwhile, there seems to be quite a sizable crowd outside the Inn come morning...

Having woken up at the dead of night in the early morning to work on her sword after having gone to bed before the sun even set, Sevia was not terribly disturbed by the growing crowd outside the inn.

"Noisy pests." she muttered to herself. Luckily she had an ace up her sleeve. Deciding to leave and finish her sword at the arena - Sevia gathered up the blade and hilt and left her room, casting Disguise Self before leaving and taking the appearance of a plain human.

Disguise check 30

Keeping her belongings hidden under her cloak and her face in plain view to avoid being confused for her real self, Sevia pushed through the crowd to the arena to find a quiet spot to finish up her sword before the first match of the day.

It was less fun than it should have been, but finally, your weapon was ready for the match - and the crowd within the arena burst into cheers as they saw you. Across the arena floor, however, was one of the few remaining opponents... and even as you watched, bark seemed to flow out of his skin and cover his body as he drew a small, strangely-shaped wooden tube out and readied a small scroll. He almost certainly hadn't reached this round by luck - so whatever he had planned, it probably wasn't going to be fun.

After ensuring you were both ready - and had the opportunity to cast whichever spells you wanted (your opponent certainly had, conjuring up a glowing shield in front of them), the referee signaled for this match to begin.

Initiative (Opponent): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
Initiative (You): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9

It probably wasn't fate - not against you, anyway - but this particular competitor seemed to be drastically quicker off the mark as he raised his weapon and it roared three times, sending something blasting through the air and towards you at truly incredible speeds.

Sevia watched her opponent curiously, judging by his looks, she guessed a mage, which his bark like skin and readied scroll confirmed to her. She'd taken no extra precautions against mages unfortunately, but there wasn't much she could actually do. Though, a good tanglefoot bag was probably going to be necessary.

Take 10 on spellcraft for 19 to identify the spells he casts before the fight

As for herself, she simply cast the reliable Shield spell she was using before drawing her starknives, trying to discern her opponent with Detect Evil as well. Unfortunately, this mage seemed to have quite the reflexes and she found herself immediately assaulted by a force unfamiliar to her.

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10

Despite being staggered by the attacks, she had her own tricks as she feinted a ranged attack with her starknives - which slipped from her hands as she raced across the field, drawing her new sword and her magic dagger, slicing at the mage.

Bluff to feint, then burn one mythic to use fleet charge and immediately attack the mage

The spells are twofold - starting with a standard Shield spell, just like yours, which means magic missiles are out of the question unless you can dispel it somehow. The second spell is what looks like some Barkskin, a type of defensive spell known to be favored by those with a connection to nature.

However, none of your spellcraft seemed even close to identifying whatever had been fired through the air.

The bluff was successful, though, and your physical blow struck dead-on - and your opponent swiftly moved five feet backwards as brambles rose out of his skin and he fired two more times.

Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22 for Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26 for Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7

As soon as the bullets were gone, however, he flipped his weapon down and pressed it against the wound where the bleeding had occurred - rapidly cauterizing it and stopping the bleeding even as his weapon flipped open and several small somethings were inserted into it. All of this took place almost faster than the eye could see, the clear sign of someone who knew exactly how to use their weapon - though there was an audible hiss of pain from the man as he acted. His bullets were both fast and accurate, but he was hardly immune to pain... even when inflicting it upon himself.

Sevia widened her eyes at the man's actions, from firing at her to using the rod to staunch his bleeding, and suddenly realized she wasn't dealing with a mage. Actually if she could recall, that type of thing was called...a firearm she believed? Either way, it was a ranged weapon, and he was essentially unarmed in close quarters.

She decided then that it was best to get rid of that troublesome weapon, stepping up and flicking her sword and dagger out - trying to strike the weapon from the man's grasp.

Sevia uses the Disarm Combat Maneuver, which provokes if he has a melee weapon handy, Sevia adds her CMB to her weapon attack roll for the maneuver.

You've dropped your first weapon due to failing the disarm roll by 10+.

The brambles surge outward as you strike - and two weapons clatter to the ground, one from each of you, even as the plants rip at your flesh in retaliation for your strikes. Damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 2) + 6 = 13

However, he didn't seem to have any melee weapons handy - and rather than ducking down to pick up his weapons, he simply moved backwards and chanted as he held out his hand. A glob of some kind of sticky substance burst out of it and shot forward, impacting against you without err.

'No, definitely mage, or something like that' she winced, both from the brambles and the sticky goop hit her.

Escape Artist: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24

Luckily though she was quite adept at getting out of such situations, and was able to contort her body to shrug off most of the effects.

Still, this was not good...she didn't really think she could try to win in a melee fight. Not anymore. This would have to be settled at range. Reaching down to scoop up the man's weapon instead of her own - she flung her magic dagger at him and retreated backwards. That disarm attempt was rather painful, but she wasn't going to waste its opportunity and let him get his weapon back.

The thrown weapon didn't quite manage to accomplish a critical hit, though it clearly did some damage to the man - who just grabbed it and held it to the side as he chanted. Magical energies flashed outwards as he finished, bursting across the area between you and striking the ground before shooting out to create a thirty-foot circle with you in the middle. Fire shot upwards even as the ground within the circle cracked, becoming dreadfully uneven and hard to move through. "I won't let you escape so easily!" the man called across the distance between you.

Sevia hissed as the area around her erupted with fire, and the ground cracked apart, nearly sending her tumbling to the ground. Still, the fire was only marginally hurtful, especially compared to those bullets that had hit her earlier.

Still, if this man thought such challenges would hold her, he was sorely mistaken. "You'll have to do much better than that!" she shouted back as she deftly crossed the circle to the other side, easily moving from rock to rock. Once across she drew her bow as she darted forward for all her worth, turning the distance between them into a wide gulf with the flaming terrain between them before spinning around and unleashing two arrow attacks at him.

If I didn't write it, he didn't do it. ^^

Both of the arrows sunk into the man, accurate even at this distance. He dashed thirty feet forward a moment later, magical power continuing to swarm about his form - and a sudden spread of mist spread outwards from his body, wrapping the area in an obscuring fog to provide excellent concealment and essentially force a ranged attack to rely on luck.

Does concealment from Obscuring Mist count as 'dim light' for my Shadow Blending ability?

Frowning, Sevia lowered her bow as she tried to peer into the cloud to find her target without much luck. It seemed like he was using an Obscuring Mist spell, which meant she would probably have to wait a few minutes for it to disperse. Of course, if he didn't move, the crowd might get agitated and ask the referee to disperse it...as she recalled "boring" spells were against the rules.

Casting Ghost Sound ahead of her, Sevia tried to mimic her footsteps approaching the cloud of fog to hopefully confuse her opponent, even as she moved further away.

Sevia moves up to 110ft away

Trying to discern his location from this distance was a crapshoot, but luckily she didn't need to. Mentally calling on Epyon, she asked him to go look for her target - having the bird fly off of the rafters and just above the mist. If Epyon could locate the man and then fly above his location, Sevia would at least have a 50% chance to hit him.

Epyon flies above the Obscuring Mist and tries to listen for where the gunslinger is, when he hears him, he flies over that square for Sevia to shoot at

There's a brief sound from within the fog, but it's not enough to pinpoint the warrior inside of it - but at least for the moment, nothing seems to be happening. However, the audience clearly looks like they're anticipating things - it's only been a few seconds, after all, and most of them are assuming something will soon happen... perhaps even something decisive.

Epyon didn't seem to be able to pinpoint the warrior, but she didn't think he was being so blithe as to be doing nothing. Deciding she needed to know what was happening, Sevia asked Epyon to head into the cloud and see what the man was doing. Hopefully he was waiting for her...but she didn't think so.

At the same time, she knocked her bow and readied an attack against anything she saw.

Epyon flies around into the cloud to see what the man is doing. Sevia readies an attack against him if he tries to come out and fight her.

Epyon let out a confused caw after flying through the mist - the gunslinger (druid? warrior? contestant?) didn't seem to be visible anywhere within it, but the mist suddenly parted as the enemy burst out of it - twice as tall as before and looking like he'd grown into a giant! With no hesitation at all, he simply ran forward, closing the distance between you in mere moments... and holding a certain previously-thrown weapon in one hand to make him armed. That Epyon had missed such a large figure must have been some trick - druids were very good in the wild, though why he'd bothered to hide wasn't entirely clear... and that was never a good sign.

Readied Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14 vs AC /miss

Dropping the druid's gun to the ground, partially in hopes he would try to reclaim it rather than follow her - Sevia flat out sprinted to the cloud of Obscuring Mist, realizing that ranged combat was no longer an option and a stand up fight was going to lose against the thick hide of that animal. She needed stealth on her side, and inside the mist was her chance.

Sevia heads obliquely to the mist and avoiding the druid, using acrobatics to jump the difficult terrain of the fire pit and avoid entering it

Acrobatics(Jumping): 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (6) + 24 = 30 vs DC 30

With a herculean leap, Sevia barely managed to clear the inflamed ground and went straight into the mist. As she did, she mentally asked Epyon to fly above the mist and give her the gist of what her opponent was doing.

Stealth: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (11) + 15 = 26

What animal is he?

Knowledge Nature: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15

The druid hadn't seemed to become any kind of animal - he'd merely enlarged himself instead of using something like a Wild Shape spell. He calmly bent down and picked up his item, shrinking a moment later as he whirled around and checked the weapon to be sure it was in good, functioning condition. The dagger had been dropped instead, leaving one of his hands free, and he nodded in satisfaction.

"Well, then." he said, eying the distance to the cloud. He whispered something under his breath a moment later, apparently casting something - though your inability to see out of the cloud prevents identification.

Once inside the cloud and certain she was out of sight, Sevia quickly completed an Infernal Healing spell, which was certainly against the rules - but she didn't care. She'd need the extra help. Moving further away from the edge of the Obscuring Mist towards the starting area, she stopped just short of the edge of the cloud.

HP:13 This round Sevia moves to the edge of the cloud, but still staying inside, and casts Infernal Healing. Since my opponent used a move to get to his weapon, and then a move to pick it up, I assume he went twice if he's spellcasting. In which case, Sevia casts Mage Hand to grab her wakizashi and sheaths her bow.

As you move through the cloud, a jolt of pain runs through your body - like every nerve you possessed had been lit on fire at once, though as you moved, you did see your opponent crouching down slightly... and after you acted, the bleed damage was finally enough to push him over the edge and take him down. That, at least, was quite fortunate - because the final match was in a few hours, you'd already expended a lot of effort... and while the judges didn't seem to have noticed your casting of a healing spell before the fight actually ended, your own consciousness certainly had.

As the crowds throng you upon leaving the arena, it's clear that there's only one opponent left - the Hell Knight you heard about at the very beginning of the battle, and if he's anything like the foes you've faced thus far, then he's not going to be a pushover. Despite that, the crowd doesn't seem to know much about him - not his name, his face, his actual gender, or even his species. That's annoyed more than a few of them, but his devotion to his job is undeniably clear, and thus far, he's dispatched each foe with the same calm, ruthless efficiency. The battles don't seem to have been showy, but they've certainly been reliable bets.

Chiefly she asked people what weapon they'd seen him fighting with, as that would likely tell her which order he belonged to. She also asked if anyone had seen where he was, as she was quite eager to try and Detect Evil on him before the match.

Sevia tries to find the Hellknight and get within 60ft to cast Detect Evil on him. Stealth to be discreet and avoid getting seen by most people.

Stealth: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (13) + 16 = 29

Also, is poison illegal for the fight?

Poison would fall under 'Patently Boring' - so yes, it would be illegal. Of course, that doesn't mean you can't try it...

Somehow, your detect evil ability appears to be functioning - despite your unquestionably immoral decision earlier in the day - and as with your other foes, you aren't detecting any sign of evil. In fact, it seems more of the opposite - they're ignoring the crowd, and clad completely within their own armor, but there's an extremely positive force radiating from their body. Next to them, you can see their equipment of choice - a massive tower shield and a heavy mace, both of which have the look of solid, well-used items.

Several things are fairly clear, however. This will be the last match - and if your own opponents are anything to go by, this hasn't exactly been a competition of amateurs. The Belt of Grace would be a great prize for anyone capable of using it, and it's highly unlikely that you're the only one with a real interest in acquiring it and putting it to some use. In short, this enforcer of law might well have some serious backing... or even divine encouragement, if another god thinks that your belt would be a useful tool to give to their followers. It's certainly not impossible, not if what it's supposedly capable of is true.

This won't be an easy duel - if you don't give it everything you've got, then it's doubtful you'll even have a chance.

Sevia knew that Hellknights in particular need not be evil, though she felt they tended to draw towards it. If there were anyone who represented the pinnacle of lawfulness, it would probably be members of the Order of the Scourge - which judging by his weapon of choice seemed her opponent was a member of. All that armor would surely hamper her opponent's offense, but it was just as likely to foul her own attacks against him. She also wondered just exactly what it was she'd felt off him.

Retreating away, Sevia decided she'd need to duplicate some of her earlier tactics for a leg up on this person. Purchasing a couple of scrolls to cast for her match.

Buy:
Scroll of Reduce Person 25gp
Scroll of Anticipate Peril 25gp

Giving her blades a final round with a whetstone to sharpen them up for the fight, Sevia waited to be called for the final battle, heading out to the arena and casting her spells before the start. One from her staff, two from scrolls she produced, and one quick spell from her mythic reserve.

Sevia casts Shield, Reduce Person, Anticipate Peril, and Cat's Grace. 1/5 mythic power. She'll also Smite Evil on the Hellknight (just in case he was masking his alignment)

As the battle started, the Hellknight whipped his arm back and simply flung his mace through the air in one lightning-fast strike. The weapon roared through the air, crossing the distance...

Ranged Attack vs FF: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15

...and flew past you instead of striking, though you could feel the force of the wind as it shot past. The knight raised his hand a moment later and snapped his fingers - and the weapon disappeared, reappearing in his grasp as he raised his shield. The first blow was deflected by the shield, but the second starknife - a lucky shot by any measure - struck against the other warrior's armor and sunk in slightly. Covered as he was, it was impossible to say how bad the damage was, but it was at least some injury. Despite that, the attempted smite hadn't seemed to do anything - no masking of alignment was involved.

The heavy mace was hurled through the air a second time...

Ranged Attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13

...but went badly awry, and the Hellknight almost fumbled as he hurriedly Called it back to his grasp, without it coming anywhere close to being a true threat. Not for that throw, at least.

It seemed the Hellknight was just barely faster than her, and his attack nearly connected first. Luckily one of her starkives found its mark. Instead of grabbing for another weapon though, Sevia pointed her finger at the man and cast Glitterdust at him.

Booooo.

Eyes narrowing suspiciously as the knight seemed to manage to break free of her spell. This was no ordinary warrior that was for sure. Conjuring up another spell, Sevia cast carefully to ensure she gave no openings before thrusting a hand out to touch her opponent and deliver a nasty Shocking Grasp, then stabbing out again with her dagger before moving out of his reach.

The electricity washed over the warrior in a solid strike - but even as it went, it flowed around him and into the ground - and for the first time in the battle, the Hellknight spoke. "Do you really think I'll be that easy to defeat!?" he roared. "By my oath to Ragathiel, I will not fail in my duty!"

"Ragathiel was it? Odd choice of a God for a Hellknight!" Sevia said, as she feinted backwards - attempting to deceive the knight into making him believe she was retreating. Seeing the Electricity apparently had little affect on him made her rethink trying that again. She did wonder what he was doing in service to an organization dedicated to a deity directly opposed to the one he supposedly venerated. He could just be a pretender she supposed, but she doubted that. And what duty did he have? We he instructed by someone to retrieve the belt?

Standard to feint, move backwards another 20ft

The feinted strike hit, though the other bounced off of his armor - and now it was his turn to retaliate, which he did with a pair of powerful blows.

Attack Roll: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (11) + 12 = 23

Neither of the swings managed to connect - though your followup strike did manage to do at least some damage, even if it wasn't a truly critical blow. He paused for just a moment, studying you... then spoke once more. "I see nothing wrong with praising the Lord of Duty." he responded grimly. "You, however... strike me as a fighter more comfortable with breaking the law than upholding it." His weapon flashed out again, a little more accurate - and deadly - this time.

Sevia grunted as the Hellknight's mace managed to actually connect with her body for the first time, dealing quite a blow to her. "I don't concern myself with the laws of mortal men, I dedicate myself to a higher purpose." "Such are the excuses every criminal makes." the Hellknight said flatly, deflecting the first strike with his shield. The second strike did land, however, doing a fair chunk of damage to him... but your acrobatic escape wasn't nearly enough to overcome his skill, and his weapon flashed out.

"No one has the right to disobey the law - claiming that a greater purpose allows you to ignore the rights of others is mere sophistry and selfishness. His CMD is 33 or better??? Also the amount of HP damage of hits should be 110, not including bleed. By the way previous turn wasn't finished, I'd have moved 50ft further away and drawn my bow since he succeeded his save (if I have remaining actions you can assume I won't end my turn unless I say I do). Since I assume that is more than two range increments, penalties would cause that to miss.

"I expect nothing less from the rhetoric of a Hellknight, you do not even understand who you are fighting." Sevia replied, in between his attacks as she backed of even further. Moving well beyond what she thought his ability to strike back at her with his throwing hammer was. Now at 80ft away, she sheathed her blades and began shooting with her bow. With all that armor, he would not be following her any time soon.

Yes, his CMD is 33+. No, that's not the amount of HP damage from the hits - keep in mind that you don't know your opponent's exact stats or what modifiers are in play. I am, however, keeping track of all damage done - Hero Lab's helpful that way, so let me worry about that part. ^^ Part of the GM's job, after all.

Almost before you'd even finished moving - and after the arrow struck his armor - the Hellknight pushed forward sixty feet. "I am fighting one who believes themselves above the law - that's the only part that matters." he said calmly... though he didn't fling his weapon his round, only approach to stay within range.

Sevia struggled not to laugh at her opponent. He was dedicated, she gave him that, but his dedication also narrowed his vision. She chose instead to ignore him and continue retreating backwards another 50ft, before attacking him with her bow.

As before, the Knight followed, easily deflecting the arrow with his massive shield before tossing his weapon through the air once he'd closed to 20 feet - and retrieving it afterwards as it reappeared in his hand.

Ranged Attack: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (7) + 16 = 23

"...Yes, I believe I have taken her measure. I find her lacking. I trust you have no complaints?" the Hellknight added softly, too quietly to be heard by the crowd in the arena... though audible enough for your sharp senses to pick up on it.

Sevia raised her eyebrow in confusion as the Hellknight seemed to be talking to someone somewhere. 'A Message spell perhaps?' Sevia wondered. His comment stung a little she admitted, but she chose not to say anything for the moment, wondering if he'd keep talking. He might reveal something else. Mentally, she asked Epyon to fly out to the stands and look for any spellcasters casting spells.

Her bow was getting her nowhere though, so she elected to reach into her bag and pelt him with a tanglefoot bag, while at the same time stepping back and drawing into her last reserves of power to cast Mirror Image to help her out.

0/5 mythic

Tanglefoot Bag: 1d20 + 12 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 12 - 2 = 22 vs TC Entangled, DC 15 reflex save or be immobilized

Mirror Image: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 Sevia now has 5 fake images

"...Hmph."

Reflex: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30

In one smooth movement, the knight in question strode forward even as the sticky substance attempted to hold him to the ground - but despite the way it covered his armor and entangled him, it didn't seem like it had reached maximum effectiveness.

Epyon was unable to find a trace of a spellcaster in the crowd - though the bird tilted in shock as magical power gathered around the Hellknight. A moment later, a column of holy fire shot down from the sky, directly on top of your position.

Reflex 21 Halves: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (17) + 25 = 42

...Also, how did you calculate that specific number for Reflex? I feel like those saves are significantly higher than they should be.
