Epyon flies safely around the room and returns, reporting. The holes seem to be completely empty - thoroughly cleaned of their contents, whatever those might have been, though it's not hard to guess in this particular place. However, nothing jumps out in an attempt to grab the bird or otherwise disturbs the quiet of the room.
Sevia, The Raven Queen
Sevia will raise an eyebrow, it seemed like there was nothing here? Then what was the point of this room? Sevia will cast Detect Magic into the room, especially towards the statues at the far end of the room, then move over to the closest cavity to the door where a statue has been knocked over to look inside - stowing her Bow and drawing her swords as she does.
Sevia enters the room in Total Defense
Sevia, The Raven Queen
Sevia investigates the hole a little to see if she can figure out anything from the look of it.
If there's really nothing there, Sevia will leave and head back to room 17 and find Norvne
GM Rednal
The undead fellow is waiting within the mists, lounging on what looks to be the remains of his own sarcophagus. "Hey, I just blinked! Ready to go?" he asks, quite cheerful on the whole. "I can't wait to give that old git a piece of my mind." He reaches up and plucks out a bit of his brain, looking at it curiously before pushing it back into his skull. "Well, someone's mind, anyway. No sense wasting a good one."
Rogziel simply blinked a few times. "I... see." he said.
Sevia, The Raven Queen
"Rogziel, this is Norvne...dashing Rogue was it? As you can see, he's been rather grievously wronged by Toth Nekamek." Sevia says, gesturing to his general decayed appearance - and clearly undead nature. Truly, working with undead was not to her liking, but she was content to abide his presence for now. Most undead were after all, victims of the actions of others. Putting Norvne to rest without fighting him was certainly preferable in her eyes. "Let's proceed to the final antechamber." Sevia said, leading the group to room 20. Before entering the chamber, Sevia will cast Shield on herself with her staff's last charge before opening the door.
GM Rednal
The doors here are covered in glyphs and runic markings, which Norvne simply nods at.
As you open the door, you see the glint of gold in the dark antechamber in front of you. The layer of dust covering everything indicates nobody has entered here for a long, long time. The center of the room is dominated by what seems to be a life-sized statue of a black jackal, sitting on top of a two-foot high golden shrine with long carrying poles attached. Its eyes and ears are outlined in gold, and it is wearing a golden sash around its neck. The walls of this antechamber are filled with Hieroglyphic inscriptions and scenes from the primary book back in the library. All along the walls, richly decorated furniture and artworks are stacked, along with numerous small painted funeral figurines. On the wall directly opposite is another, very elaborate double-door, flanked by two half-jackal statues.
Sevia, The Raven Queen
Can I read any of the hieroglyphs? My Comprehend Languages should still be up
Sevia will raise her hand to cast Detect Magic across the room, looking around for any treasure, traps, or monsters. Preferably none of the latter two if it were possible. The furniture looked valuable, but entirely untransportable - it would probably not be possible to fit them out the door in the Atrium anyway, or even past the wrecked statue in the hallway. "Careful for traps."
Perception: 1d20 + 10 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 10 + 1 = 17 Sevia
Perception: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (15) + 15 = 30 Epyon
If Sevia or her familiar don't see any creatures, she'll move into the room to appraise all the stuff.
GM Rednal
Epyon caws out a warning... and the jackal statue suddenly begins moving, sitting back and looking over at you. "It is I who hinder the sand from choking the secret chambers. I am for the protection of the deceased, and I shall kill all those who cross into the sacred precincts of the Royal King who lives forever." the creature says, his tone firm and serious.
Sevia, The Raven Queen
So...can't read the hieroglyphs? Anything detect magic?
Sevia frowned at the jackal contemptuously. "Toth Nekamek does not deserve your loyalty fool. He is dead and his soul surely rots, buried in the Boneyard to suffer eternity for his crimes. I am the Raven Queen, stand aside or I shall have to kill you." She sneered, drawing her Wakizashis, pointing one towards the guardian menacingly.
Intimidate: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24
Knowledge: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16 (+2 if nature)
GM Rednal
The creature's eyes glinted - and you do sense quite a lot of magic within the chamber, including within the jackal. "Between a King who tried to raise his people to glory and a Queen who behaves like a common grave robber, blinded by greed and pride... I think it's clear who deserves my loyalty."
The creature seems to be an awakened Jackal of some sort, given intelligence far beyond others of its kind. It's not undead, though - and at least part of the magic you can sense within the room probably went into keeping the creature alive for all these years.
"Shawabti, defend your Lord in this life as in the afterlife." the Jackal said... and countless tiny figurines shot away from the walls, forming into a swirling swarm between you and the intelligent beast. "I will not allow you to disturb the rest of my King. Begone."
Sevia, The Raven Queen
Sevia's nostrils flair at his insult. Personally she was not above taking what she could find here - the dead had no need of material possessions after all, though she of course wouldn't disturb the dead themselves if possible. But to insult her like that, and then pass off what this man had done to those who suffered in this tomb was despicable. "Raise his people to glory? I see no glory in the pettiness of entombing a spurned wife and damning her here in undeath...I am here to end this evil..." Sevia says, before stepping forward - swords flashing at the construct.
Attack: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 8 - 2 = 11 vs FF Damage: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (2, 5) + 7 = 14

not sure if I act before the swarm. If it died to my first set of attacks, I'll move action next to the Jackal and attack once instead, or if I take it out this round with my first attack, move up to him.
round1
Attack: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (11) + 8 - 2 = 17 vs FF Damage: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (6, 2) + 7 = 15

"Is that what you think happened? Well, I suppose you'd rather believe any story you thought could justify petty theft than even try to seek out the truth, even when all you need to know is collected for you... and that tells me all I need to know about your priorities."
Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Before your weapons can strike, the swarm darts forward to envelop you - and the most agile warrior alive couldn't totally evade the damage from a foe.
Swarm Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2 Fortitude: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17
The intelligent jackal simply looks to the side a moment later, and some of the markings on the wall flash - surrounding him in glowing magical armor a moment later.
Your first blow fails to hit the swarm, while the second manages to cause at least some harm - but striking a swarm is difficult at best, simply because there are so many pieces. It continues to swarm over you as you strike, bashing for all it's worth.
Swarm Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1 Fortitude: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30
The jackal glances at another inscription a moment later - and a Sanctuary spell surged into existence around it.
Your next two attacks continue to lash out at the swarm, but while you're doing damage, it's not going very quickly - the tiny statues seem difficult to damage and, quite frankly, are so numerous that any one blow can only do so much damage to them.
Sevia, The Raven Queen
Okay didn't get sneak attack on the swarm. That means I've done 12+12+8 damage to it, but a tiny swarm takes half damage, so that's 16 hp damage done.
Sevia didn't feel the need to retort the jackal, who was merely blindly loyal to his master. He seemed more interested in casting spells, which was fine for her, fighting the swarm was distracting but tedious. She'd gotten three good blows into it, though she could tell her weapons were fairly ineffectual. She'd have to get some blunt weapons later.
Still, the swarm was mostly in disarray by this point, battered by her blows.
round3
Attack: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 8 - 2 = 18 vs AC Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 3 points
Not sure if the swarm is dead by this point, if so I move next to the jackal, if not I keep attacking the swarm
Attack: 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (4) + 7 - 2 = 9 vs AC Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
GM Rednal
Only one of the strikes actually impacted the swarm - but it seemed there was still more than half of it left, continuing to bash and batter for all it was worth.
Swarm Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1 Fortitude: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
Of course, even at its best, it was slow-going... and the swarm seemed like it was being damaged much faster than you were. The jackal simply blinks, then looks down and speaks a few divine words.
Will: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25
However, you're easily able to throw off whatever the effect would have been, and the beast looks distinctly unhappy about that even as the swarm continues to pound away at you.
Sevia, The Raven Queen
Sevia continues hacking away at the swarm, at this point it's more of a nuisance than a threat, but a necessary one to eliminate.
round4
Attack: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 8 - 2 = 23 vs AC Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8 4 damage
Attack: 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (6) + 7 - 2 = 11 vs AC /miss
round5
Attack: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 8 - 2 = 23 vs AC Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11 5 damage, okay it MUST be dead by this point, it can't seriously have like 30 hp. Sevia will move next to the Jackal
GM Rednal
By the fourth flurry of attacks, the swarm was a little less than half the size it had started with - but was still determinedly bashing away for all it was worth.
Swarm Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6 Fortitude: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21
Its latest series of blows was... considerably more comprehensive than many of its earlier strikes had been. Another divine word was hissed a moment later, and a surge of energy flowed out from the creature.
Will: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27
As before, however, it's more than merely difficult to overcome the defenses of your mind, and the spell is unable to get a purchase on you. The swarm continues its assault, however, taking the blow (which actually knocked out a fair few of the dolls) and moving to pursue you after you moved towards the jackal.
Swarm Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1 Fortitude: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24
The jackal retreated five feet backwards, then barked out another divine spell...
Will: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
...and seemed to be growing increasingly vexed at the strength of your mind.
"You may not be a common robber... but I'd rather die than fail in my duty." the creature growled.
Sevia, The Raven Queen
Sevia expends a ki point for invisibility and then full attacks the swarm, afterwards 5ft towards the jackal. 29/40hp currently.
Each spell Sevia tunneled through like it was nothing, as she continued her assault. But that swarm was becoming an actual threat - she had not expected it to be so resilient. Deciding to put all her energy into her next attack, Sevia called upon her powers of invisibility, and then savagely ripped into the swarm, pinpointing the weakest statues.
Attack: 1d20 + 8 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 8 - 2 + 2 = 28 vs FF Damage: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (3, 1) + 7 = 11
Crit Confirm: 1d20 + 8 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 8 - 2 + 2 = 14 vs FF Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 10 damage total
Attack: 1d20 + 8 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 8 - 2 + 2 = 27 vs FF Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8 4 damage, this brings all damage up to 42hp
Crit Confirm: 1d20 + 8 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 8 - 2 + 2 = 9 /miss
"You will not prevent me from carrying out my sacred duty. I will purge this tomb of its evil!" Sevia said as she drew closer to the jackal once again.
GM Rednal
For future reference, I am going by this. On the bright side, you actually did do enough damage to kill it, if somewhat less than you had listed.
The storm of constructs finally disintegrated, unable to cope with being struck by two critical blows in a row. "Says the one who disturbs the dead and sells their very bones out of petty greed." the Jackal said coolly, hopping five feet up onto a shelf. You get the sense that your invisibility hasn't fazed it at all. "Someone in this tomb certainly isn't righteous."
With that, the jackal put a paw on one of the runes in the room... and the light within the chamber abruptly vanished. Completely vanished, plunging the entire room into supernatural darkness that even darkvision failed to work in.
Sevia, The Raven Queen
ah okay, swarms weren't listed as immune to precision damage in the srd
"You dare accuse me of violating a person's corpse whilst your master animates undead?!" Sevia shouts, clearly taking the jackal's accusation quite personally. For her, the bodies of intelligent life were sacrosanct - which was of course why she'd avoided tampering with the corpses of any of the men in the tomb. Animals were Gozreh's domain though, and she'd felt no compunctions of taking the horse's bones.
As darkness descended across the room though, Sevia calmingly cast an Infernal Healing spell - intent to recover some of her strength with the lull in the fighting. "Rogziel, would you be so kind as to peel back this darkness with a Daylight spell?" Sevia called out to her companion, glad that she'd specifically brought an Aasimar along, knowing that both spells would nullify the other.
Sevia casts Infernal Healing and moves next to where she last saw the Jackal, trying to sandwhich him against the wall if possible.
GM Rednal
It seems to be a later thought - in this case, though, I think there's something to the idea that it's hard to make a pinpoint strike on a foe composed of hundreds or thousands of independent parts. XD
There's a pause of a few seconds... and light sweeps over the room once more. The jackal's teeth snap out at your neck a moment later...
Attack Roll (Bite): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
...but get deflected by the magical shield effect that's still working to protect you.
Sevia, The Raven Queen
It felt a little odd personally to banish the shadows in her fight, she'd always stressed a doctrine of fighting from them. But even she had to admit she'd gain nothing fighting where even she couldn't see.
Stepping back to avoid the jackal's teeth, Sevia is more than happy to dish back her own punishment with her swords.
Sevia will attempt to trade blows for a few rounds and see how that goes
Attack: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (19) + 8 - 2 = 25 vs AC Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7

On her third round she'll swift for invis and try to finish him
Attack: 1d20 + 8 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 8 - 2 + 2 = 20 vs FF Damage: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (5, 6) + 7 = 18

GM Rednal
The jackal's jaw snaps out as it bites, trading blows with you in an attempt to bring you down. Your first attack is a solid strike - and a critical blow at that, dealing noticeable damage to the beast. Your second pair of blows are also quite effective, though not enough to drop the intelligent jackal, and...
Attack Roll (Bite): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
Attack Roll (Bite): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26 for Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
...its bite does manage to catch you, ripping out another part of your hide.
Your last stab skewers the jackal, and the light from its eyes fades... even into death, it refused to abandon its duty or break the oaths it made.
400 XP.
Aside from the wealth within the room, the far door is locked by a complicated setup including seven distinct locks. Inscribed are images of a hippo, a scarab, an ibis, a crocodile, a cat, a ram, and an asp, and there are seven hands apparently intended to hold something.
Of course, that's not the only thing that catches your attention, because tiny particles of sand have started to flow down from the ceiling...
In 10 minutes, movement through rooms 15 and higher will be reduced by half. In 30 minutes, these rooms will be completely filled with sand.
Sevia, The Raven Queen
29-4+10=35hp. 5/5 mythic power. 5/6 spells. 4/6 ki. What about XP from other rooms?
Sevia cringes as the beast manages just one more bite into her before she finishes him off with a savage stab to the chest. She did hold a small amount of respect for his refusal to break his oath, but it was more than outweighed by her disdain for whom he swore it too. Well, she shouldn't have expected much from an animal she supposed.
Seeing the sand starting to slip into the tomb though caught her attention. Turning to her two spectators - "Well? Don't just stand there. Get looking for a crocodile figurine, we'll need it to complete the last key!" Sevia says as she leans down to check the jackal's body, before heading up to the locked door and beginning to insert the six keys she'd completed, matching each lock with its corresponding animal figurine.
If neither find a figurine, Sevia helps them search the room, the furniture, the shrine, etc

What about it? Alignment choices are major alterations for a deity, and in this case, you're already lawful - so you need to commit to (and actually perform) a major, legitimately good act. Look at it this way: Getting the XP now would mean spending the money for retraining later, whereas getting the XP in a bundle later means you can save on the cash... which you already have significantly more of by level, considering it hasn't really been shared with others... *Rubs chin thoughtfully*
The crocodile figurine is contained in a small part of the shrine that the jackal had been waiting on - and it isn't long before you've assembled the last key and fit it into place, opening the doors.
Before you is a long chamber with a floor of polished red granite tiles. Soaring sandstone columns with gold inlays line the walls; the gold ornamentation glows from the fires burning in low iron braziers that are set about the room. The columns reach into the fathomless darkness high above, beyond the light cast by the braziers. Fading murals cover the walls, depicting the life of a king, from his birth to his last funeral rights and entombment - and throughout them, you see a theme of praise, goodness, and a King who truly supported his people. At the far end of the room is an immense stone dais carved from a single block of red granite. On top of the dais is an open stone sarcophagus, which is flanked by statues of a massive serpent and of a large crocodile.
Standing in front of the sarcophagus is a figure in thick, covering robes, and he looks up as you enter. "Oh, how intriguing. Are you here to worship the great king Toth, savior of the ancient lands?" he asks curiously.
Sevia, The Raven Queen
aite, got it. Also Sevia casts Infernal Healing again just as they open the door.
Finally unlocking the door, Sevia casts Infernal Healing upon herself to recover some of her lost hit points. Upon walking into the room, Sevia's eyes narrow as she sees the figure standing there. 'And who is this?' she wonders, trying to figure out how he got past the jackal.
"No. I am here to end the evil of this tomb, and its foul king Toth Nekamek." Sevia says coolly, swords in hand, regarding the figure with suspicion as she looks around - wary of another ambush.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27

"Who are you? Another one of his rotten servants?" Sevia asks as she begins to approach him.
GM Rednal
You don't see anything (or anyone) else within the room, other than the figure... who merely tilts his head slightly. "What are you talking about? King Toth was a magnificent ruler. If you're speaking of the undead, those were put into place by those who built this tomb later on."
"He killed me!" Norvne said, no longer able to keep quiet. The figure turned to look, then seemed to blink a bit.
"Oh, you're... well, that's what happens when you sleep with another man's wife. You can't very well complain about getting punished when you knew there was a law about something, though perhaps the undead bit was a bit too far... but that was well after the King died and things had begun to go downhill."
Sevia, The Raven Queen
Is he lying?
"You expect me to believe that? I have watched kings and emperors construct their tombs years in advance - planning every meticulous detail. Do not think you can fool the Keeper of Souls, that cur knew what he was doing and chose to defile the bodies of those damned here!" Sevia shouted, pointing a sword accusingly toward the figure. The idea that anyone less arrogant than a king or a wizard would willingly create undead in defiance of the Goddess of Death's edict was preposterous. "<Toth Nekamek plucks the rotten fruits of his blasphemous deeds. So sayeth the Oracle.>" Sevia says in Celestial, a clear taunting reference to the prophecy repeated on the wall in the Atrium.
When Sevia is 20 feet from the figure, she lunges forward 5ft suddenly and blasts him with a Color Spray.
DC 16 will save

The burst of color washes over the figure - to no apparent effect.
Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
The figure lets out a cry of pain as you attack... but growls under its breath a moment later. "Truly, the ignorance of mortals knows no bounds. It wasn't the King who made the undead... or at least not the king you know!" With that the figure swung out with a massive axe.
Attack Roll: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
This particular blow missed... but there's a rush of air as a creature appears behind you and stabs out with a claw, aiming for your vitals.
Attack Roll (Flanking): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (8) + 14 = 22
It's probably for the best that you had the Shield spell up, as the attack is barely deflected - and though you haven't seen the creature behind you yet, the warning shout from Rogziel sounds serious.
Sevia, The Raven Queen
"Excuses, platitudes, and lies. There is no distinction. I am as old as life itself and wary of such half truths." Sevia says with cold calculation, barely swinging away from a claw that nearly had her head. Still, whoever this was he was immune to her spells, that was troubling. Advancing forward five feat to the figure's right, she'll again lash out with impossible speed, aiming to fell one foe as fast as possible.

"And who are you, you sneaky bastard?" Sevia asks, turning to face the newcomer, while looking past him towards Rogziel to hear what he was trying to say.
GM Rednal
The robed figure steps away, shouts a word, and vanishes... although that's almost a secondary concern.
Standing in the hall behind you - and having launched a sneak-attack in his own right - is a creature that looks like an emaciated red humanoid, but with some kind of liquid coating its fiery-red skin. A long spear is held in its hands, apparently immune to the acid... and the creature just grins.
"It's a Babau, some type of demon! Be careful - its hide can destroy weapons!" Rogziel calls, reaching for his daggers. However, that's a bit of a secondary consideration at the moment as the demon simply steps to the side to align itself and whips its spear out in a pair of rapid thrusts, unholy glee upon its face as it imagines tormenting your very soul for all the wrongs you've done.
Attack Roll (Longspear): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27 for Damage: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15

Sevia, The Raven Queen
Sevia's eyes narrowed at the one that seemingly teleported away. She hated the ones that got away. 'I'll need to make sure to learn Dimensional Anchor.' She thought for a moment, before refocusing on the Babau. Just in time for his spear to stab forward into her shoulder - making her cry out in surprise, but also motivating her to sidestep the next one.
Luckily she had an ace up her sleeve. Smirking she dropped her second Wakizashi and flicked a Cold Iron Dagger into her hand. Channeling her inner power, Sevia stepped forward at the Demon, "<I'll destroy you completely.>" she said in Celestial before attacking.
Attack: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 8 - 2 = 16 vs AC /miss
Attack: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (15) + 8 - 2 = 21 vs AC Damage: 1d4 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Sevia uses all of her mythic power to use Annihilating Strike. DC 31 Fortitude save or be obliterated.
GM Rednal
The cold iron dagger stabbed into the demon's chest, cutting through its resistance to damage like it didn't even exist. Incredible divine power surges forth a moment later, slamming into the creature - but as the tips of its body start to dissolve, a countering force wells out from within the demon, breaking apart the strike. <"YOU DARE CHALLENGE YOUR GODLY POWER AGAINST MINE!?"> the demon roared, answering in the Celestial tongue as anger welled up within it. <"I AM THE DIVINE KING OF THIS LAND, AND WILL NOT BE BROKEN BY YOU!>" The longspear simply dropped to the ground as the demon forgot about it - though it couldn't forget about the protective slime on its body. However, cold iron was durable indeed... and more than strong enough to resist the slime, which may have been one reason it was so effective on the demon.
Attack Roll (Claw 1): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Attack Roll (Claw 2): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
However, anger may not be the best tool for combat... and as the demon rages, its claws fail to come anywhere close to striking you, allowing you to smoothly dodge them and prepare your next action. Both of your companions seem a bit stunned at the appearance of the demon - though an odd expression crosses Norvne's face as he glances at the Babau, then towards the murals on the walls.
Sevia, The Raven Queen
Aw hell, it's got 2 mythic ranks doesn't it?
Sevia's eyes widened as the demon shrugged off the pure force of her death attack, suddenly realizing this was no mere creature of the Abyss. Any lesser creature would've surely disintegrated into dust at that attack. Luckily though his anger clouded his vision and his attacks went completely wide. "<I see, I see! You're Toth Nekamek himself, sent to the Abyss for your crimes in life!>" Sevia laughed tauntingly at the enraged demon.
"Norvne! What are you standing around for?! Do you not recognize the 'Great' Toth Nekamek? He's standing right here, back from the Abyss he was sent to!" Sevia shouted to the undead rogue, looking at him gawk at the murals, hoping to goad him into taking action and attacking his flank.
Just wondering if Norvne's going to flank before I take my turn - I'm assuming he does otherwise I'll hold my turn, burn a ki for extra attack 3/6
Attack(Flanking): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14 vs AC
Attack(Flanking): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24 vs AC Damage: 1d4 + 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (1) + (6) + 7 = 14
Attack(Flanking): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23 vs AC Damage: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (5, 6) + 7 = 18
GM Rednal
Yup. Note that bosses in general will rarely be vulnerable to that particular power - it would be a bit of a letdown for everyone if you could beat every major opponent in one strike. XD
The undead staggered forward as best he could - which was actually rather better than before, considering the added flesh on his body - and quickly swung out, still looking somewhat shocked. He whipped his own weapon out a moment later - a spiked chain made of cold iron that he sent whipping towards the demon.
Attack Roll: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
It narrowly missed striking the demon - but your positioning does mean that you're now flanking the demon, and two of your knife attacks land solid strikes on its flesh.
None of this stopped the demon from lashing out in a furious series of strikes, attempting to rip through your defenses with sheer force of will.
Attack Roll (Bite): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
There's a snapping sound as the the demon bites out with its jaws - and even as you watch, the demon's jaws suddenly keep stretching out in agony and the jaws completely fail to close at all, even after he pulls back and lashes out with his claws.
Attack Roll (Claw 1): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
Attack Roll (Claw 2): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
"Gah... th' curs'!" the demon bellowed - and Norvne abruptly looked much happier.
"Yeah, that's right! You're the one who made accidents happen to everyone around me - shoulda made sure to not affect yourself with it!" the undead man proclaimed.
Toth Nekamek has lost the use of his Bite attack due to a critical failure in Norvne's presence.
Sevia, The Raven Queen
So bosses are always going to be a mythic rank ahead of me, right
Sevia's eyes widen as she sees the flesh of the demon's jaw literally decay as if it had suddenly been exposed to a roaring furnace, his mouth slagging. Whatever curse had been placed on Norvne, it must have been incredibly powerful to make that happen.
Attack(Flanking): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28 vs AC Damage: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (1, 3) + 7 = 11
Crit Confirm: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25 Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Attack(Flanking): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18 vs AC
Hopefully it wouldn't affect her, but she'd have to be careful.
GM Rednal
The demon has been injured - but just as clearly, he's incredibly vital to start with, and won't fall nearly so easily. Without hesitating, Norvne tosses his chain out, attempting to wrap it around one of the demon's arms...
Attack Roll: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
...and his own arm literally flies out of its socket, crashing ineffectively against the floor. He stared down in shock - though the demon just started laughing through its gaping jaw.
Norvne has been disarmed by a critical failure.
However, the laughter was nowhere near enough to stop it from lashing out once more.
Attack Roll (Claw 1): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
Attack Roll (Claw 2): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
Divine power burst out of the demon's body as the second blow came in, twisting fate itself in response to the demon's will.
Mythic Surge: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 I believe that's enough to make it a success.
Claw 2 Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Sevia, The Raven Queen
35-15+10-8=22hp
Sevia watched Norvne's arm simply fall off like it had been connected with wet glue. That made her nervous. Though, watching that demon laugh pissed her off. He moved in to attack her and seemed to miss, but she felt his divine power reach out just enough to connect with her.
She needed to end this, drawing upon her inner strength, she renewed her attack.
1 ki point for another attack. 2/6 left.
Attack(Flanking): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12 vs AC
Attack(Flanking): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24 vs AC Damage: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (1, 6) + 7 = 14
Attack(Flanking): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20 vs AC Damage: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (5, 6) + 7 = 18
Luckily her cold iron weapons went through his hide like butter, good thing she'd insisted on making the things.
GM Rednal
The demon took the blows and growled grimly... and that was when the invisibility of his companion vanished, sandwiching you between them and allowing the two enemies to flank you.
Attack Roll: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
Attack Roll: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23 + Surge: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 for Damage: 3d6 + 2 ⇒ (4, 2, 3) + 2 = 11
The demon pressed forward, relentlessly pressing the attack with his arms and gouging deeply with his second claw strike.
The axe from the other came in a moment later as Norvne staggered backwards, having no weapons he could attack with.
Attack Roll (Axe): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
It was actually a pretty good swing... just not good enough, and the figure growled in vexation as his axe bounced off of your magical shield.
Sevia, The Raven Queen
Okay, so I've done 82 points of damage to this guy so far, no D/R. I'm at 11 hp.
Sevia hisses as his claw impossibly slipped through her defenses and lay a nasty gash on her. As Norvne stepped back, she realized she was in quite a predicament, boxed in between the demon in front of her and the cloaked figure behind her. "Epyon, go for his eyes!" She shouted, her familiar flying up and scratching at the Babau to buy her just enough a distraction for an opening, taking a 5ft step towards his side and away from the cloaked figure.
Attack: 1d20 + 8 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 8 - 2 + 2 = 19 vs AC Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Attack: 1d20 + 7 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 7 - 2 + 2 = 19 vs AC Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Aid Another: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11 vs AC 10
Please let this guy be dead at 90 or 98 hp. If my first swing kills him, I'll direct the second to the other man at AC 17 to hit. 5ft step to get out of flanking.
GM Rednal
Attack Roll (Claw 1): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26 for Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Attack Roll (Claw 2): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21 Surge: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 for Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Both of the beast's claws aim in at you - and you feel another rush of divine power from nearer to the entrance of the room. Rogziel: Spend 1 power to activate Still the Blade.
Will (DC 13): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Both of the claws stop before they actually hit you, and the Babau roars in frustration even as his companion darts five feet to his side and presses a bottle into the demon's hand. The demon moves to drink...
And you get an Attack of Opportunity!
Sevia, The Raven Queen
Sevia looks at the impending claws and wonders what happened that he was unable to attack her. Still, as he attempts to drink whatever potion was handed to him, Sevia strikes out. "You really think I'll let you?!" Sevia shouts out.
Attack of Opportunity: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19 vs AC Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Dead? Please die, damage is over 100!
GM Rednal
The blow narrowly missed striking the demon... but did manage to strike the potion bottle, which could only rely on its natural resilience and the dexterity of its owner. The liquid promptly splashed to the ground instead of filling the demon's mouth, and you could literally see the rage darkening the demon's face as the potion was wasted.
You're up!
Sevia, The Raven Queen
Wait, does AC 19 not hit it?
Sevia smirked as the bottle shattered, preventing the demon from taking the potion. Sidestepping around so her back was again to the door and the two enemies were in front of her, she expends more of her physical power to attack faster - Epyon helping as well.
1 ki point to attack, 1/6 left. Epyon uses Aid Another.
Attack: 1d20 + 8 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 8 - 2 + 2 = 20 vs AC Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Attack: 1d20 + 8 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 8 - 2 + 2 = 13 vs AC /miss
Attack: 1d20 + 8 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 8 - 2 + 2 = 27 vs AC Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Crit Confirm: 1d20 + 8 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 8 - 2 + 2 = 17 Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Aid Another: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13 vs AC 10
GM Rednal
Nope.
The attacks sunk into the demon's hide, and it staggered, bleeding from numerous wounds... but it was too angry to think straight, and its weapons were driven only by centuries of hate and suffering.
Attack Roll: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Attack Roll: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
...And also the effects of curses. There was a gurgling sound as the demon's companion slumped to the ground, impaled on the Babau's claws when they were pulled back to strike at you. For just a moment, the demon took stock of the situation... his ally dead, misfortune surrounding all of them, his own body battered and nearly blown apart... and despite everything, you still stood, bleeding and injured but still alive.
<"...To Hell with all of you. I'm not dying here again."> the King growled, stepping five feet backwards and grabbing the air above his fallen companion - apparently seizing something. A surge of magic surrounded him a moment later as he teleported away... and the sense of corruption filling the chamber vanishes.
A golden helm hits the ground in front of you a moment later, shaped like a jackal's head and apparently not warped with the demon. Meanwhile, the sand behind you is continuing to pile up, and it won't be too long before the ground starts being difficult to move through... and there doesn't seem to be much other treasure in this chamber, though there is plenty of value in the previous room. You're not out of this yet...
And don't worry about your alignment and XP - I've got a plan for that. You'll need to rest for eight hours, though...
Sevia, The Raven Queen
Would a part of his former corpse count as a body part for the purpose of a scrying spell?
Watching the fool demon clumsily kill his own companion, Sevia raised her swords, ready to end that evil creature. And then suddenly he teleported away, her swords slashing into thin air. "Damn you Toth Nekamek! You coward!" Sevia shouted at the ground he once stood, seething with anger that her target had escaped.
"Typical." Sevia said in disgust, spitting some of the blood in her mouth to the ground. Still, even as she knelt down - partially out of pain, partially to pick up the jackal's mask, she knew time was not on his side. 'Hehe...Toth you fool, not only do I have your true name, I have a mighty personal possession of yours' Sevia smiled mercilessly, taking the mask.
This was not over. Eventually she would scry and hunt him down.
Still though, there was only so much time she had left to look through these two rooms. "I apologize Norvne, he got away...well, for now at least." Sevia said, as she walked to Toth's tomb to pry it open, casting Infernal Healing as well.
GM Rednal
In this case, no. There's actually a plot reason behind that.
"It's... it's fine." the unlucky undead sighed, gazing at his arm as he tried to patch himself back together. It didn't work. "I don't even know if that qualifies as the King anymore. It was so... twisted. I want revenge on him, you know?"
As he speaks, you see inside of the tomb - there's a golden amulet inside, but nothing else of particular value... just an old body in terrible condition. Rogziel quietly wanders through the previous room, bending down now and then, while Norvne simply turns to stare at the sands. Eventually...
"Would you mind killing me? Again, I mean." the undead said.
Sevia, The Raven Queen
"That was him. When mortals die, they take on an existence which embodies the lives they lived - in his case, he was cast to the Abyss and became a demon." Sevia said thoughtfully, true - she didn't know what the experience was like, but she watched it countless times. To say that Toth was not that demon would be errenous, yet at the same time there was a kernel of truth there, he'd wanted revenge against Toth Nekamek the human, the flawwed king - not a run of the mill demon. "But I understand what you mean."
Sevia will take the amulet at the least, before leaving the sarchophagus.
She was quite ready to be done with this place.
Looking at Norvne, she felt a pang of sympathy for him. But at last his suffering would be over. "Yes, of course. I'd be glad to send you onwards." Sevia says as she walks up behind him. Drawing her wakizashi, she prepared to do it right. "By the way, look for her in the River of Souls, she shouldn't be too far ahead." Sevia told him encouragingly, referring to the woman she'd cremated yesterday. Her friend Sheyln would probably say something funny about how love has the power to transcend death.
She supposed anything was possible, as her sword ended Norvne.
Coup de grace
Saying a short prayer to his corpse, Sevia will leave him there and return to Rogziel. "Thanks for the help back there." Sevia says, looking for anything valuable to take amongst the rich trappings left in the room.
Appraise: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
GM Rednal
"I was here to watch, but... honestly, that was way more than I expected." Rogziel said, shrugging slightly as he slogged through the sand. "Didn't seem right to do nothing... though I am glad he had such a weak mind."
The most valuable things in the room also looked to be the heaviest - ornate pieces of furniture that... probably weren't designed to be used, actually. There are also a number of stones in the walls that could be pried out with a minute of effort each, worth about 10 GP apiece, but nothing in the rest of the chamber looks to be worth the trouble of hauling out through the rapidly-rising sand.
Sevia, The Raven Queen
"Well, it probably meant the difference between victory and defeat. So you have my thanks." Sevia said, as she began to pry some of the jewels in the wall off with her dagger. Obviously the sand was still pouring in, and it did look to be picking up pace, but there was plenty of time to get out.
"I also wasn't expecting you to have such a mythic connection; you're certainly more than I thought at first glance." Sevia said slyly.
Sevia will spend 10 mins to gather stones before leaving the area, so about 15 mins total since the Jackal first died.
