Heck yes! Some of us really like Core. It's been a while since I played non Core to be honest.

@Shifty: That sounds absolutely amazing??? I'm in awe of your glory.
The Cruise con, or things actually doing what they are supposed to do? :p
The Cruise-con is a smaller one as a pilot this year with a big one next year. This one is a 'long weekend' version, next year it is a four night Summer cruise on the Carnival Splendor stopping off at Moreton Island for a bit of beach fun. Have a con AND a holiday.

Hmmm, maybe I'll try it! I get a bit mixed up with all of the extra content sometime, so it might be nice to play Core. :D How often are there tables for level 1 babies? o:
@Shifty: Both! I'm absolutely amazed by the idea of Cruise-con and simultaneously envious. It sounds like an amazingly luxurious experience <3

Cruise-con sounds awesome! My wife and I like to combine holidays with gaming - we've been to the wonderful GardenCon in Switzerland several times.

And it's always a pleasure to have you both, as well as other english-speaking folk at our GardenCon :)

Here in Minnesota, with a snowstorm coming in... Man, that gaming cruise sounds amazing! Take lots of pictures and post them for us! Keep on doing all the things that float your boat!

Quick question (I know I asked something similar a few weeks ago)...
I just ran 'We be Goblins' last night at my FLGS (everyone had a blast) can apply that GM chronicle to a non 1st lv character? Or is it 1st lv. characters only I can apply the GM credit to? (perfectly willing to take the hit on GP and I know it only offers 1PP).

lucklesshero |

yep your right Redelia just reread it 1st and 2nd lv characters only it appears...Ok question asked and answered thx!

Remember that noise I made a couple years back about going to Australia?
Well, it's now going to happen.
As of circa this December or early next year, I will be (at least for a year or two) Hiding In Your Down Underwear-Drawer! - Perth area, sounds like.

GardenCon looks awesome! Outdoor gaming is fantastic - we have a one-dayer I run twice a year that has been steadily growing which is a gaming day and BBQ in one of our nearby national parks by a really nice river. BYO Gazebo, camp chairs, and beers. I keep the BBQ running (feeding 30 is busy work - going to be worse as we move to ~50) but its an awesome social event and you get the added bonus of the 3' lizards running around trying to steal your food, that is if the angry one-eyed Kookaburra doesn't rumble you for your food. Kookaburra 4, Pathfinders 0, I kid you not.
On that note, if anyone does come down to Sydney for a holiday please let us know, we have an excellent track record of making sure there is a session going for visitors! (Crikey! Chuck another shrimp on the barbie, more Pathfinders are coming downunder!)

Wild country out there, Australian natural beauty in all of its raw glory. If you like the great outdoors it is hard to beat WA. Welcome down-under, you'll never want to leave (and if the crocs get you then you wont be able to anyway)

I hear Australia is entirely peopled by criminals, so you may want to be on your guard for that...
Surely it's still better than a country founded by (as the late, great Robin Williams put it) "people so uptight the English kicked them out!"
“Bunch together a group of people deliberately chosen for strong religious feelings, and you have a practical guarantee of dark morbidities expressed in crime, perversion, and insanity.” ― H. P. Lovecraft

I can personally attest to the friendliness of the Sydney gamers. I got to play during a layover there, and in spite of the fact that I "talk funny" they welcomed this Yank with open arms.
One cool thing they did was start a Saturday session at about 10. We played for a couple hours, then took a lunch break to grab takeaway from the food court at the mall. After a leisurely lunch and chat, we started back up. It really made the session more social and laid back. Which is exactly the correct stereotype for the Aussies!

Just tried my hand at creating a CORE character for the first time! I've never really tried a monk before, but since CORE seems to be a good place to learn new things, I thought it might be a good play to try it. c: Can I get some eyes on Takilya Baki to make sure I did this correctly?
I did use HeroLab, but, well. I'm not familiar enough with the settings to be sure I clicked all of the right things. @_@

There is an actual setting in Hero Lab. With the character in question open click on the Character tab at the top of the window, then click Configure Hero. A window will pop up. Scroll down in the setting frame of that window until you get the Pathfinder Society options (the second one should be for CORE characters) click it and this will eliminate the non-CORE options from your choices and notify you if you have any unCORE options in effect. Click OK to exit from the Configuration window.

The World's Most Interesting GM |

Now I just have to hunt for a Core game! \o/
Well you know, if that CORE character you just made happens to be between 7th-11th level, have I got the game for you! Two seats are still open.

![]() |

HeroLab is very useful, but you need to be careful when you buy items. It sometimes makes mistakes with the limits due to Fame.
It doesn't take Fame into account as far as I know for purchases, but it gives you a convenient place to check what your limit is. On any Pathfinder Society- or Pathfinder Society CORE-configured character go to that character's journal tab (the one where you input your chronicles) and look to see their current Fame, Prestige and expenditure cap near the top. If you hover your cursor over the character's fame score it will give you the table that shows what you can spend at any given Fame total.

GM RePete |

I think I like the simplicity of CORE. It would certainly make running APs far less terrifying. o_o I've got a couple I've been wanting to try running or playing.
Are AP trades a thing here? o: Running a long campaign for someone in exchange for getting to play in another?
(Sorry to double post)
Sure, though the issue with APs is the time required to run one is rather daunting. You're looking at a commitment of a year or more in most cases.
Out of morbid curiosity and being a glutton for punishment, what APs have you been considering?

GM RePete |

A year? Silly RePete, it's usually more like 3 years, for the small percentage that finish. I've got one group in book 3 of an AP after 1 3/4 years. :)
Well... I was trying not to scare anyone off... :-P

Sounds like great fun, IHYC! I spent a couple of weeks in Perth in October for work and really enjoyed it. Fun city, found lots of good food and friends, really nice people. I didn't get to explore up the coast to the north, but it looked pretty glorious.
I didn't have time to play any Pathfinder while I was there, but I did find a great sci-fi/fantasy bookstore near the central train station - White Dwarf Books - that had a whole bunch of Pathfinder books displayed front and center.

I was thinking of running either Shattered Star or Curse of the Crimson Throne! c:
I've come through a second funeral and a bunch of drama with my games more or less intact, which is why I'm thinking it's doable. For the record, I'm looking to try any of 'em! c: I've gotten through the first part of RotRL, but our GM life interfered with the group so the campaign expired. :c

GM RePete |

I'd love to! c: I liked listening to the Dagger of Trust so I would absolutely love revisiting Taldor.
Do you have a preference between Shattered Star or Curse of the Crimson Throne?
(And do you happen to know how difficult it is to get players for APs?)
In my experience there tends to be more players interested in playing an AP than available GMs willing to give it a try.

Hiyami, please keep me in mind if you run the Crimson Throne AP (I'm currently in a run of Shattered Star)...

![]() |

@Hiyami: I know little to nothing about either one, so no preference. And from what I've seen, you will have WAY more players applying than there is room for.
I tried starting WftC 9 months ago, and probably had ~20 people apply--and that was a small number because I had very stringent requirements. Some APs will get 50 applicants.

hiyami |

Okay, I'm... not going to lie, that sounds a bit terrifying. How many players are you running it with? o: Do people stick to the recommended four? Play around with five or six?
I'm planning my recruitment! Otha, I'll definitely shoot you a link if you don't see it when I attempt to drop it here. c:
I'm not sure how much the CORE aspect of it will thin the crowd, but I know I'm definitely way more comfortable running it for CORE than I am for... the many, many books of Pathfinder. XD;

GM Hmm |

If you want to peek at a recent recruitment, you can look at what I did for Aeon Throne. I asked questions, asked for RP samples, and then picked character personaliities that I thought would go well with one another.
I did wind up taking a party of seven, though!
Oh... and in case you didn't know, Outpost II has just started!
Hmm

GM PaleDim |

Tomorrow has come for the GMT time zone (and any before it). PFS is international, so it's officially on!

![]() |

Hiyami, don't forget that if you run an AP in campaign mode (which you sort of need to do if you run the whole thing, because otherwise there are level gaps), the GM can make whatever rules they want. You could allow CRB plus one or two other books you're comforable with, if you want, or allow non-core races but require classes to be core.

![]() |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

You also can pick bit by bit, so if you allow non-core races but CRB other than that, you could still allow cool racial feats or spells if you agree to that particular one. For instance, you could allow grippli to still take the agile tongue feat. (blurrrrp!)

hiyami |

Very nice. c: I'm going to open it up, I believe, so anyone can apply with any character they would like, but I'm definitely making it known that my bias towards the CRB exists. On the other hand, if it's really well written, makes sense, and looks solid for roleplay and adventuring purposes? Well, I'll do just about anything for a great story!
