Mikaiela only glances and watches as the group asks Lars for something, get something, and head to the storage room.

Silently shuffling over, she peered inside the storage room to see where the group was going.

They have a key! This could be interesting! Treasure? Or something better?

Mikaiela will be following the well group silently and stealthily. If I need to make Stealth checks, let me know, and I will.

Kingmaker Table 1

Sorry for the delay, I'm working 3 12-hour shifts this weekend.

Odd'n & Garret:
Odd'n and Garret lower themselves down into a dim, dim light for game purposes humid cellar; the smell of clay fills their nostrils. Light flows in feebly from the far end where pipes run up from the well into the Common. Looking around the two men can see the walls are lined with standard necessities such as feed, tankards, kegs of ale and barrels of wine (not many mind you), sugar, flour, salt, and other such staples. Interspersed throughout the room are closed wooden cabinets, seemingly of sturdy constitution. Rory joins them shortly, and answers Odd'n's question, "The mine was good, more dirt, more rocks; we might be headed in the wrong direction. But what do I know? Anyway, I think you'd better keep your gems under cover, my friend."

Replying to Garret's to-the-point requests, Rory says, "Quite right, we should probably start near the well," he points west, "and check the clay floor for moisture." The miner wields his pick as he steps cautiously forward toward the well.

Survival DC 18 to determine the amount of moisture in the 3x3 area around you.

Mikaiela:
You would probably already know about the cellar by now, there's stuff down there that you'd have used as the chef. Sorry I didn't update you.

You know that Lars keeps the staples like feed, tankards, kegs of ale and barrels of wine, sugar, flour, and salt down there.

You also know that there are several sturdy wooden cabinets that you're not allowed to access.

Finally, Lars has told you to avoid going too far in as there's a tangle of spiders toward the back somewhere. You're not sure if he's telling the truth or just trying to keep you from the back, but you haven't had a reason to test him yet.

Also yes, if you want to enter the cellar undetected you'll have to roll stealth (go ahead and PM me if that's what you're going to do, that way we can avoid metagaming).

So, here is my idea. I will need some more info on the barrel before I implement it. I would like to break open the barrel/remove the stopper from the barrel so that it will flow over the 10'x10' square I have highlighted in blue. I imagine it will not actually look that nice depending on how it needs to happen. I want to either kick the torch into the spiders and into the area that I am planning to have covered in oil on my way over too the barrel. Or splash some oil far enough that it gets onto where the torch currently is so that it all becomes a patch of fire. then on my next round I will go pull the unconscious Odd'n away from the area.

Female Human Oracle 3 - HP: 8 / 8 - AC: 11 (T: 11 / F: 10) - Fort: 2 / Ref: 2 / Will: 2

Mikaiela moved forward, and attempted to see if she could see the others for a start, now that she was off the ladder.

Perception Check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

Regardless of whether she could or not, she stepped to the side, to avoid Rory's hasty and inattentive escape. Once he was climbing, she began moving forwards.

Stealth Check vs. Swarms (just in case, ignore if not needed): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13

Her goal was to get in range. Once confident she was close enough, she began to move her mouth and speak something. No voice was present however, only total silence. As she spoke, she began to move her hands in a small pattern that was akin to merely steadying oneself from being put off balance.

She is invoking Secret Signs. To notice her casting her spell, assuming they see her to begin with (if they don't, ignore this roll), a Perception roll must beat her Sleight of Hand roll.

Sleight of Hand: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20

After the motions were made, Mikaiela brought her arms to her sides and faced her palms to the ground. She'd needed a little time for the magic to take effect and create a Skeleton to distract the swarms and protect the fallen Odd'n.

Summon Monster I has a casting time of 1 Round. The Skeleton will spawn at the start of her next turn, and last for 3 Rounds, or until slain, whichever comes first. Your call, GM, if it will be on her Initiative, or its own.

Kingmaker Table 1

@Garret: Here's my ruling: Acro check DC 15 to kick the torch without burning yourself and without using an action, DC 10 to take 1 pt of fire damage. Standard action to spill oil where you want it. Sound fair?

@Mikaiela: The spiders know where you are, and wouldn't react to your hand motions whether the spiders could sense them or not. As for the skeleton, it'll act with her initiative (makes things faster, and it makes more sense)

I deftly flip the torch right into the middle of the spiders with my boot, and before they start moving away from it, rush around the spiders and begin dumping the oil from the barrel onto the moving carpet of legs hoping to drown them in oil and flame. Dropping the barrel onto the mass after I get a decent spread to crush even more spiders and so I don't catch on fire.

moving 30ft around the edges of the spiders to the barrel. I can't move my character due to posting from my phone.

Kingmaker Table 1

It should be said that the two swarms on Odd'n are sharing the same square, I have it the way it is so that I can see all the icons. Also pouring out the oil and lifting and throwing the barrel would both be standard actions, so you only get to pour the oil this turn. If you want to do something different, let me know otherwise, here's what happens:

Garret uncorks the barrel and lets it flow into the area dousing the spiders which caused Rory to flee in the flammable liquid. Once the oil puddle reaches the torch, it goes up in flames causing 2d6 ⇒ (1, 5) = 6 fire damage to the spiders; and leaving the colored area aflame for 1d2 ⇒ 2 rounds. Unfortunately, the flame follows the flow back to the barrel causing it to explode and cause 1d4 ⇒ 3 force damage to Garret unless he makes a DC 13 REF save, in which case it deals half (rounding up).

The two swarms attacking Odd'n move on from the felled beast, and attack the one who started the flames. Swarm Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 51d6 ⇒ 2 Poison vs. Fort Save: 1d2 ⇒ 2

At Mikaiela's requesting (albeit a silent vocalization only her Skeleton could understand), the Skeleton did not move or attack, or anything else, rather it sat in place and watched Garret tend to Odd'n.

Intimidate: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (19) - 2 = 17 Incase it adds any sort of bonus to my intimidate check, I really am contemplating killing this man and just taking what I was originally trying to purchase.

Female Human Oracle 3 - HP: 8 / 8 - AC: 11 (T: 11 / F: 10) - Fort: 2 / Ref: 2 / Will: 2

Noting the locks, Mikaiela intently sees if she can determine what type of locks they are.

Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

No related Knowledge skills, so falling back on Perception; I botched that roll too.

She'd pick them in due time. In due time, she'd pick them.

Mikaiela, once up the ladder and out of the cellar, shows up from seemingly out of nowhere (given her hiding earlier), moving to stand besides Garret, perhaps a bit too close for comfort with regards to prudishness values (after all, she is wearing the all-too-revealing rags she calls her "primary outfit"). Maybe it wasn't an issue? In any case, she simply smirked as she adjusted her glasses. Perhaps she knew more about what happened down there? Who knew? Her hands begin darting about soon enough, signing something to Lars once the glasses were fixed to her needs.

To those who understand sign language (addressing Lars primarily; Mikaiela is invoking Secret Signs against anyone whom isn't Lars whom attempts to translate her sign language)...:

{Trust me, there were no spiders in the cellar, since I didn't see any...since I wasn't in there at any point recently...and an establishment like this would be spider free...because really, spiders in a bar? Really? How absurd a notion that is.}

Bluff (against Tanwen, to veil the words she signed, since Tanwen is able to see the sign language; Mikaiela is invoking Secret Signs to pass her message): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 25

Bluff (to make this brazen lie to Lars): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24

Doubt anyone else knows sign, but if they do, I can roll extra Bluff checks if needed (all invoking Secret Signs).

Following her comments, a pause and an innocent smile ensued. The smile quickly turned into a very sultry gaze that was directed at Lars, and was accompanied by more, less emphasized, sign language, in an attempt to beat Garret to any punch, metaphorical or literal.

To those who understand sign language (addressing Lars primarily; Mikaiela isn't hiding her signs from others this time)...:

{For the record, I just disproved these other guys' claims, so any reward should be given to me. It was the least I could do. If a reward is too much for you to consider, perhaps I can barter some of my rare goods in exchange for it? My goods are a rare grab, and aren't usually given away this cheaply. It's a once in a blue moon deal if I say so myself, and a worthy one at that! It's also one you won't regret, I assure you, for my goods are of super high quality.}

Diplomacy (to get Lars to find her offer agreeable before Garret issues violence / aggression and turns this whole thing into a mess): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24

If Lars is of a different alignment or religion than she is (LE / *DeathDeityHere*), her Diplomacy check result is 22 (instead of 24). Also, yes, there is a lot of innuendo in that Diplomacy check, and no, none of it is hidden at all. Lars should be able to fully understand the hidden meanings in full. If I need to roll a check of some kind for that, I can; let me know which one. If I need to clarify what she's referring to, let me know as well, and I will.

Kingmaker Table 1

@Odd'n: until you make a successful save, it seems. More to come, at work.

Fortitude: 1d20 + 5 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 5 - 2 + 1 = 13
Not sure if I needed one save or two.. but there they are! :)

Looking around, Odd'n scrunches his face at the bizarre hand dancing the new & unsettling black-clad woman was doing towards Lars.

His head aching and arms weak, Odd'n slowly stands up and leans against the wall. "Garr.. Garretttt.. thunkkk you fer sevving me." Unsure if Garret heard him, Odd'n listens as Garret finishes lambasting the shopkeep over his frivolous use of Garrets, Rorys and his own life.

"Youuu.. you mus' know dey thur. HOW NOT YOU!!???" Odd'n joins Garret in questioning the man-- albeit for different purposes. "You sen' us down.. down der.. no warning.. just.. just 'stay out of my stuff' you says. No.. you know spidur there.."

Kingmaker Table 1

@Odd'n: I think it's safe to assume a near death experience would sober you up a bit, and you're no longer mortally wounded. @Garret: I totally forgot about your wounds, my bad.

RETCON: Tanwen only uses CLW once on Odd'n, leaving him at 7 hp. When she's finished with Odd'n, Tanwen turns her attention to Garret, using her cure spell once on him taking the previous roll, getting Garret up to 9 hp. The cleric then channels positive energy to heal them both. Channel: 1d6 ⇒ 6 This puts Odd'n back at 13, and Garret at 15. Tanwen's Channel: 3/7 for the day; other stats same as before the retcon.

"6,000 spiders?!" Lars answers, earnestly surprised, and a bit shaken by the archer's disposition and the big punch-drunk man's accusations, "I've only seen a few here or there, I had no idea I had such an infestation!" Out of the corner of his eye, he catches Mikaiela's signs, and only really understands that she didn't see any spiders down there. "And apparently, I don't! So, who owes who what, now, liar?"

Unfortunately for Mikaiela, Tanwen not only sees her signs, but also sees through her lies, "Oh keep it caged harlot!" Tanwen uncharacteristically shouts at the cook.
She then turns to Lars, "Don't take this schemer at her word, good innkeeper. She's lying through her...fingernails!" As proof she offers, "if they didn't encounter a great many spiders, then what type of bites would you say I've been healing for the past ten minutes?"

Rory chimes in as well, "Lars, they're right, there were at least 1500 spiders down there, they attacked me too. That's why I came up when I did." Rory has been healed completely by Tanwen's channel btw.

After this, Lars gives the young cook a stern look housing two different kinds of disappointment, and continues on as if he hadn't said the whole 'liar' bit. "If you really destroyed them all, I'm sure I owe you more than I can pay in gold." He thinks for a bit, before returning with, "I know, you and your friends will always be able to stay here at the common for free whenever you like. How does that sound?"

Bronan stands behind Garret, unsure whether he will need to hold the man back from violence, or back him up in a fight. He looks relieved when Lars relents. "I think it's about time we were on our way in any case." he says.

I stand and glower at Lars for a moment, and then I back down. "I know we are in a hurry to return our charge to his home. But perhaps we should take advantage of Lar's hospitality for one night so that Odd'n can recover some more. He is not looking very well at the moment. We can travel at speed tomorrow and still be back in town rather quickly."

Odd'n, as ashamed as his failure in combat as he is upset with Mikaielas (apparently) blatant lie, was in no mood to linger around the town.

If this 'honest' shopkeep is willing to accept the ludicrous lies that this woman spits after sending us to our damn near death.. who knows what will happen in the night..

Odd'n mulls over his thoughts and Garrets apparent concern for his health before piping in. "No.. lets go. This town.. we've been here for naught a day and I've lived and damn near died more than I have in all my life past."

Digging into his pockets Odd'n pulls out a few gems and varied coins and pours them between his palms as he directs his attention towards Lars. "I could use a little more rest and healing.. but I don't think this shopkeep is earnest enough to deserve our patronage. And who knows-- perhaps the healing elixirs this man offers are little more than oxen piss.." Odd'n pauses for a moment before quickly continuing, a dangerous edge rising in his voice; "Unless.. he is willing to offer us SOME manner of discount on his wares for the danger HE put us in.."

Odd'n pours the gems and coins back into his pocket as he advances on Lars, cracking his knuckles as he approaches.

Intimidate: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (13) - 1 = 12
Intimidate to make this guy give us/Odd'n a discount. Would be nice if it was Str instead of charisma but oh well.

Mikaiela could only see Tanwen's outburst, but heard none of the words associated. She did however issue a glare to her nonetheless. Seeing Odd'n moving in for what she only could assume was murderous intent, she snapped her fingers incredibly loud to draw attention if possible.

To those who understand sign language (general address; primary recipient Lars):

{Sorry Lars, I really do care for you, but I'm out of options here regarding these murderers in waiting. So, I'm resigning before they turn their wrath on me for associating with and trying to side with you. A lady shouldn't be fighting you know.}

She wanted no part in the soon to occur warfare, and slid out of the Common to wait for the others to finish assaulting Lars and chase her down second. Assumptions are dangerous, no?

I let out a sigh, thinking to myself Looks like I will never get my way with this group.

Just wondering a few things, what time of day is it now that our misadventure is over, how far outside the city do I suspect we can make it with the time that we have before night fall, and am I relatively certain that I actually decimated the spiders in the cellar, or do I suspect they just retreated? I will roll any knowledge checks as applicable.

"If you think that's best, Garret." Bronan turns back to Lars. "you should be ashamed of yourself, nearly getting Odd'n there killed. What kind of house of horrors are you running under there?"

Kingmaker Table 1

Lars raises his hands in defense. "Honest, gents, I really didn't know that would happen. You're welcome to a Potion of CLW just know that I only have a few for the whole town, and there's no healer on staff. That's the reason I didn't offer it before."

Lars signs awkwardly to Mikaiela before she leaves.

Sign:

Understand...no blame you

Male Human Unarmed Fighter (Fighter)/2 Martial Artist (Monk)/1: HP 12/26 ; AC17 - FF14 - T13 ; F+7, R+4, W+1 ; Per:+2, Init: +4; Speed 30ft; CC (L/M/H) 100 / 101-200 / 201-300

Odd'n lets out a resigned sigh and mutters under his breath, cursing the mans name in a small prayer to Milani before addressing him directly. "You should see to it that those you hire to run your establishment take a bit more care in their cleaning duties.", Odd'n lets his gaze follow Mikaiela out the door. "Perhaps it will prevent such an infestation from surprising you, or others, in the future.." Rolling his shoulders to release some of his pent up stress and anger, he casts a look to Garret then back to Lars, "I won't take what little healing you can offer.. not when others will be in need. If we are to be on our way, however, I better purchase some trail rations."

Almost as an afterthought, Odd'n digs into his bag and pulls out the now bruised remains of the cacti he had collected on their journey out. "I can perhaps offer this to barter as well. This is the cacti that poppy tears are harvested from. I.. I don't think I'll be using this myself, I've got naught but bad memories of the stuff, but perhaps someone in this town has some desire for it. Fresh, I could've collected perhaps five vials of the milk.. in it's current state I'm not to sure." Odd'ns tone lightens significantly as the conversation moves along, his child-like mind already discounting his near-death experience in the basement.
