Items that could happen sooner seem to be:
golem attacking the magister
True. Would likely be dismissed as 'magicker meddling with Things Man Was Not Meant To Know' - but it might not...
sabotage of siege engines on gatehouse roof (now that Felrin is allowed out there)
The siege engines are being maintained by the dwarves, and there's a constant guard up there - there's no way you could simply walk up and even touch them without being noticed.
poison the ravens
burning the arrow store
Sure, but these are really blatant and likely to put the garrison on guard that there's an internal saboteur.
Entirely your call.

Level up!
Sorcerer 4-> Sorcerer 5
FCB: +1 Skill Point
+6 HP
Skills: +1 Bluff, Diplomacy, Know.(Planes), Linguistics, Spellcraft, UMD
Deflection +1
Speak With Familiar (YUSSSSSSS)
Expanded Wishcraft: Protection From Good (Lv.1)
Feat: The Change
Spells Added:
Lv.1: Mage Armor
Lv.2: Flaming Sphere
Added Language: Daemonic
That list looks neat, but I agree that we could do a thing or two on Oathday. Aside from that, how do we intend to take on Lord Avelyn? We can't jump on a table during the play and start shooting him. Consider also that our aura now pings from "Evil" to "Really, really Evil" for some of us. Ideas? Just using the play to separate him from the fort and pick him off as he goes back to Balentyne as the alarm sounds seems like the better plan.

Winston, Etna's familiar |

"Woof! Woof!"
+3 HP
+1 to INT
After barking to Felrin, Winston jumps on a rather large table: on it is laid a chessboard with rather oversized pieces, big enough for a dog to pick them up with his mouth and move around the board.
"Bark!"
The dog wags his tail after barking again to the tiefling.

Etna Agnes |

Hhhhm...Felrin, Winston is asking you if you want to play a game of chess with him, now that you have both the same Intelligence score.
He's proposing 9 opposed Int checks: the one that wins more, wins the game.

F. Castor |

Well, for ease of reference here is the detect evil spell description along with the aura tables.
Erevan: Strong (yay, I guess...?); Mask of Virtue will probably prove quite handy.
Etna: Faint or strong (probably strong; not sure, as I do not know if she counts as an "aligned outsider" or not).
Felrin: Faint or strong (probably strong; not sure, as he is an inquisitor, plus not sure if he counts as an "aligned outsider").
Ottakar: Faint.
Tkaara: Non-existent or faint or moderate or strong (moderate if... ahem... not entirely dead; strong regardless of deadness status -as long as she can stand and walk upright in some manner- if oracle counts as cleric for aura purposes).

DM Darkness |

Hmmm... I'm going to say that Outsider (native) doesn't count as an Outsider in the sense of the detect evil rules; they'll count as creatures instead.
RAW doesn't say that inquisitors or oracles have auras (which I think is silly, but hey, there you go). So only Erevan has an aura; but anyone with 5 HD or more will 'ping' as evil unless you take steps to avoid it.
Note that this doesn't take account of your feat choices.

Etna Agnes |

By feat choices, my aura is as strong as that of an equal level outsider, now.
And, if everyone agrees, I think that we could count Inquisitors as ping-ables: Detect Evil is core, and Inquisitors weren't out.
Oracles, however, are a little more in the grey area: they take their powers from broad concepts, like Flames, the Sun, METAL, and things like that, so I'd be more inclined to put them together to Druids, Shamans and all the others divine classes for things that concern auras.
@Tkaara: Being buried really sucks, yes. It's a shame you're hungry, and not angry: if you were an angry blonde, you could get out of there no problem.

Tkaara's gameplay post:
The dead and emaciated form of a woman lays unmoving in the dark. If anyone could see her, they would perhaps think that a slight smile plays upon her lips as though savoring the six feet of earth between her and the brutal sunlight.

Etna Agnes |

And don't let this discussion - fascinating though it doubtless is - get in the way of posting in the Gameplay thread*...
*Tkaara excepted, for obvious reasons
I'm on it! It's just taking really, really long. <.<
By the way: I'm waiting for us to decided how do we want to move on Fireday before talking to the bard.

Etna Agnes |

I'll finish the rest of the post (write what I'll do during the 9th) tomorrow: things came up while I was writing, I just finished, and it's 3 AM here. I'm too tired to keep writing. <.<

DM Darkness |

Some scrolls of Undetectable Alignment might come in handy, although you'd need a good cover story to buy them without arousing suspicion; or Ottakar can brew them as potions (I think? I'm not completely clear on which spells can be made in potion form; I know for example that Shield cannot be a potion) if he doesn't have anything better to do - and knows the formula.

F. Castor |

Craigh could say he has always been fascinated by the Pathfinder Society and see if there is a wayfinder for sale, I suppose. Since it can fit one or more ioun stones inside it, it is more of a stylistic and practical choice, as I prefer having ioun stones firmly in place rather than have them move around my character's head, plus some ioun stones are supposed to gain additional resonant powers when placed in a wayfinder (at least according to this). And some of the more expensive wayfinders have some pretty nifty abilities.
Edit: And since I was reminded of wayfinders and ioun stones, I also updated Erevan's Wish List just in case (I also removed the various items that are replaced by the Automatic Bonus Progression).

Etna Agnes |

I normally would have looked for a pair of Sleeves of Many garments, but the circlet of disguise already covers that. I think I'll just save up money for now.

Etna Agnes |

I'm done for the day. I don't think Etna has anything to buy, so we can go to the next day. Speaking of which: can I program the golem to kill the wizard the day after, and not as soon as it sees him? It will raise less suspicion, and then we could use it as a backup in our fight to make Balentyne fall.

Felrin Vennax |

Sorry, all, still on trip with family and it's unpredictable - just as predicted. If it's impractical to shift tasks to earlier in the week, and it's feasible to do all those things on Fireday, then I'm good with just leaving the to-do list as DMD presented it originally.
That's all I have time for at the moment, will try to get a post up tonight.

Etna Agnes |

*Pokes thread*
By the way, I'm going trough Occult Adventures: looking for things usable by my current characters, and I think I found the perfect level 1 spell to use Expanded Wishcraft on instead of Protection From Good
Components: V
Range: 100 ft. + 10 ft./level
Target: one creature
Duration: 2 rounds
Saving Throw: none Spell Resistance: yes
You reach into the target’s mind and put its thought processes into a temporary loop. Whatever full-round, standard, or move actions the creature takes on its first turn after you cast this spell, it must repeat on the turn after that. The creature must take the same type of actions in the same order (for example, making a full attack, casting a specific spell, withdrawing, attempting a bull rush combat maneuver, or activating a magic item) and must act against the same target or targets, but doesn’t have to make exactly the same choices (such as using Power Attack when attacking, moving exactly 15 feet, or choosing “drop” for the command spell).
If the circumstances would prevent the target from repeating an action, such as if the target of its attack is dead or the target cannot cast the same spell again, the target instead becomes confused until the spell ends. A creature currently affected by deja vu can’t be targeted with another deja vu spell. A creature affected by deja vu can’t delay, and if it readies an action on its first turn, it must ready the same action on its second turn.
Bolded neat parts. Why yes, I would like a Stilled, Silent, no save first level spell with versatile functionalities and the chance to confuse for two rounds.

Yeah, Kineticist is all the rage around the forums right now: you'd think it was the only thing in the book. :P
Myself, I'm not really sure if the utility talents are enough to balance the weak-ish damage: the calculation for ranged kineticist put them barely on the same level of a barely optimized archer fighter, but I still haven't seen how a melee kineticist fares.
Though, to be fair, the book has been out for 1 day: when the APG came out, people were calling the summoner underpowered, so yeah, jury's still out. :P
Meanwhile, I'm looking at the Medium and trying to find out how effective it is...
PS: We're totally going to use occult rituals to contact and resurrect Hecate. :P

F. Castor |

I am hardly an optimizer, valuing fluff and flavor and that subjective "special something" more, so an apparently unarmed dude who can suddenly summon and control fire looks and sounds pretty cool to me. :-D
Silly stuff like damage and survivability take a back seat. Heck, seeing the various wild talents, though some may be so good or useful as to be Obligatory of sorts, if they seem weird or not as I picture my pyrokineticist, I may very well pass on them. ;-P

I have not had the chance to read any of the classes yet. My biggest problem is that I just do not have the time to really investigate many new classes. So far, I still cannot get my hands around, or find any interest in, the Barbarian, the Gunslinger, the Magus, the Cavalier, and most of the ACG classes. I will probably find one or two from the Occult Adventures that seem interesting, sort of like the Shaman, Swashbuckler and Slayer from the ACG. Most of the rest just don't really get my creative juices flowing.
@Etna - I like that you want to resurrect Hecate, but not Tkaara. Attempts to stick tongue out at Etna, but combination of rigor mortis and 6 feet of earth frustrate the attempt.

I know what you mean. Not all the classes that come out interest me, at least not in the same degree (e.g. from the ACG, only the Slayer and the Swashbuckler and maybe the Investigator are of interest to me, while the rest not so much). And since not all recruitment threads that pop up interest me either, I would not have enough games to try them all even if they did.

![]() |

Yeh, each has its positives and negatives.
I really like the Oracle, more for the Curses which I just view as a cool way to flavor the character. If you cop out and take lame, make sure you really play it up - trouble moving, stumbling, stuff like that. Tongues, the ultimate cop out, it tough because it is so hard to remember you have it in a pbp. They are also just fun and funky to play, which is one reason I really liked Tkaara.
Others that I think would be fun are the new Unchained Rogue (really just a rogue who gets to use his dexterity without a 2 feat tax.
I love monks, but being MAD, it is frustrating as I enjoy playing characters with charisma, and am unwilling to dump stats without a really good reason.
I like sorcerers, but feel like there need to be different bloodlines (why are there several evil bloodlines - abyssal, infernal, daemonic, accursed, div, undead, oni - but, really only one good bloodline - celestial), more mysteries for oracles would be good as well.
In the end, I have thought about this, I wish there was a completely unchained way to make a character. My thought would be that every "level" a character is granted a certain number of leveling points. With certain restrictions, they can spend them on any class ability or feature. Say you get 20 "leveling" points. Full BAB is 6, 3/4 is 4, 1/2 is 2. Saving throws are similarly given a value depending on whether it is a good or bad save. Then, you could purchase additional abilities. Increasing the CL of a full caster class would be like 6 points, gaining an additional feat would similarly be like 6 points or so. Gaining a CL in a 3/4 caster (bard, inquisitor, etc) would be less, say 4 points.
Doing something like this would enable your fighter to "dip" into a casting class for 1-2 levels of casting ability, with minimal loss in his martial progression. Similarly, you could decide to skip class abilities you don't really care about - wild shape or sneak attack (although why someone would drop these is beyond me), to pick up something different.
It would be complicated, but really, each class is supposedly already balanced. Thus, it is simply deciding the full value of a class, and what each component of the class is worth for leveling purposes. The questions then would be how you want to make you character to give him whatever color, with unlimited options, he or she wants.

Etna Agnes |

@Erevan: Eh, I just prefer to have a balance of fluff and crunch: luckily, the Kineticist isn't even Monk levels of bad, and it covers the pretty big niche of people that want to build a blaster wizard/ 3.5 Warlock refugees/avid pyromaniacs, so it could have been worse.
I usually pick a feat/class/ability/piece of lore and try to build an efficient character based on that, while keeping as close to the concept as possible.
Etna was particularly easy in that department ("Oh, Wishcrafter looks cool. Wait, is it a Sorcerer archetype?" *Proceeds to pick long lines of feats and max Linguistic because it can still cast 9 level spells*).
On the other hand, it also spawned the Deaf Shaman/Oracle with a monkey sign interpreter (that I'm still waiting to play sooner or later :( ).
@Tkaara: I've already told you: you just got to try harder and you'll punch your way of the coffin no problem. :P <--- (I'm not dead, so I can stick my tongue. See?)

![]() |

So, what are you guys up to IC? Seeking further revenge for my untimely death? Discovering alchemical materials that will undermine the fort and cause it to collapse into a pool of lava, with the guards and annoying paladin still inside? Convincing the bard to perform a play that is completely inappropriate for the current situation and is likely to get him thrown out, if not court marshaled? Killing the nice noble and his wife, chopping them into little pieces, which will then be coated in poison and added to the stew?

Etna Agnes |

Etna is just preparing for Fireday, really. If DMD gives the okay, the day before she will program the golem to automatically attack the wizard the day after.
I think that we should program exactly how the Fireday attack will go though.
The only fixed thing for now is that the bard will have his play at 2 P.M. Another important thing that we should know is when the soldiers are going to eat Mama Rosie's stew: if it's planned for the evening, we can't launch our assault/try to kill Avelyn during the play: we have to wait for the afternoon. The best thing that we could use the play for, if someone has some ideas, is to get close to Donnagin and off him.
Considering that the crow-hermit is, well, an hermit, I guess that people will take some time before they realize him and his crows have been poisoned.
What do you think? If we can make a plan for Fireday, DMD can speed things forward.

Etna Agnes |

*Pokes Felrin and DMD. The Doctor is forgiven because he just has to think to get better soon.*
LIke I said yesterday, I?m waiting to know how the stew and golem programming works before making plans.
Do you have any ideas, even if you're dead, Tkaara?
PS: Can I use the spell I posted before as my Level 1 Expanded Wishcraft spell, DMD?

![]() |

As far as the golem goes. I would program it to attack shortly after the wizard goes to bed. He will be least prepared at that time. If possible, I would program it on Oathday. That way, the crazed wizard and his golem will have their problem. A day before the planned attack. Also, it will hopefully tire out more of the guards. The negative side of this is that Mama and her stew might not be allowed into the fort.
The other option would be to have it attack on Fireday, when the wizard is going to bed. The drawback here is that it will likely cause more guards to be alert. However, it will also either draw down the wizards power, fighting the golem, or else harm some more guards fighting the golem after it attacks the wizard.
I think that with a decent Craft(alchemy) roll, the Doctor should be able to create an almost unnoticeable poison that will disable (sickened perhaps? or - 1d4 Con, or something like that) for a large percentage of the guards who eat the food. Felrin should be able to slip it into the food. The one real key is that it should be a slow onset poison. Say taking effect in 1d3 hours or something like that. This is so that many guards will eat it, and none will come down sick before the meal is finished. 1d6 or even 1d10 hours would be good as well since it will likely be the midday meal, and I assume you all are planning the final assault for late evening/night since the guards do not have darkvision and this will put more of them in the barracks, being sick.
I figure, the plan was to take out the dwarves shortly after the inn closes, when they are drunk. Then, go through the tunnel and start taking out semi-ill (poisoned) guards. If possible, you do all the damage possible in the barracks to eliminate 20-50 guards in one fell swoop. From there, it is up the tower to take out the crows - Burning Hands would work well.
Then, back down the tower, wearing guard uniforms, and hopefully get to the paladin.
Or, sneak into the fort, and go straight for the paladin's chambers hoping that he has to sleep at some point.

Etna Agnes |

Mostly, using the play has the problem that it is at 2 P.M.: that kills the options of poisoning the soldier with the stew, and hitting them during the night: the only way I see we could use the play for is finding some way to get Donnagin out of the way.
I think that we should set the golem for Fireday: that way, we coulf use it to scatter their forces during the attack.
And I think that the heremit's tower isn't connected to the fort, but is in Aldencross: as I said before, it'll take some time for people to notice the hermit and his crows are dead.

![]() |

No, I am pretty sure that the hermit is on top of the tower in the SE corner of the building.
As I posted, there should be a way to make the poison have a delay. Sort of like normal food poisoning, but stronger. Food poisoning often does not hit until hours, and sometimes a day later. With the Doctor's knowledge of alchemy, I figure that he should be able to make the poison so that it has a delayed affect, so that it does not hit everyone immediately after the meal, but rather several hours later, in the evening hours.

Etna Agnes |

I was going by memory and was sure that the tower was in the city, I don't know why. <.<
I'd personally go for a delayed poison, then: like Tkaara said, those 2 hours they think it is food poisoning will be crucial for us to surprise them.

Felrin Vennax |

I think the way Tkaara has laid out the plan (with her ample free time in the grave) is very good - thanks for doing that! I agree that the timing of the play doesn't really help us much, so I'm good with not including it in our plans.
One thing that we should do early on Fireday, or even late on Oathday night, is take out the ravens - perhaps timed to coincide with the onset of the delayed poison in the food (maybe even the same poison - a dose that would sicken a human should kill a bunch of crows). As bad things begin to happen, we want to be very sure that no word of it gets out. If there's a suspicion of sabotage, having the ravens out of the picture will be one of the most important elements of the plan, so reinforcements can't come, and so the goody-two-shoes elsewhere won't even know that anything has happened.
DMD - what time will Felrin and Rosie be serving food to the soldiers? Still don't have that piece of information.

![]() |

Hey guys. Blood tests in, waiting on the results. Hurray for American health care, though, don't get to see my doctor again until the 11th.
As for the plan, I very much agree with what Tkaara has outlined, with the addendum that Felrin mentioned: taking out their ability to communicate needs to happen sooner rather than later. Phase one (in no particular order), kill ravens, slow-onset poison, ambush dwarves, sabotage armory (ammo, armor, healer's kits, etc), set golem timer to murder mode. Phase two, watch the soldiers sicken (maybe many of them at the play, hopefully with the priest as well!), the golem goes berserk and hopefully squashes the wizard, we sneak in, kill the paladin, open the gates to the rampaging horde who now only have to come in to mop up the sickened, leaderless soldiers armed with sabotaged equipment. Fin.

Etna Agnes |

I'm A-okay with the plan!
By the way, for those of you using Herolab, I just found out that the community 3rd party pack has compiled data for Way of the Wicked!
It's not of much use to me for now, but it could be useful for Tkaara, for example, to calculate the feat adjustments.
Of course, our barrister is dead and doesn't like HL, so that point is moot. <.<

F. Castor |

Sounds good, especially the early killing of the ravens and in a way that raises as little suspicion as possible, i.e. poison, not magical fire. Also sign me up as being in support of the delayed poison that looks like mere food poisoning (I refer you to the as little suspicion as possible bit).

![]() |

I would recommend something like Large Scorpion Venom or something similar for the ravens that does strength damage, or intelligence damage. It will not kill the birds, but their Int and Str are low enough that it should incapacitate many of them.
For the guards, I would aim for something that does Con damage. One with a DC of 20 or more and that does 1d3 of more damage each time a save is failed. Most are 1 save per minute, but I am sure the not-so-good Doctor could figure out how to delay the onset of both poisons.
The Doctor already has Belladonna, which could be used to incapacitate the ravens. For the guards, I am sure that you can get something from the alchemists shop.
