I am back now.

Hey folks!

Paper is in. Not stellar, but hoping to get a high enough mark that I keep my HD average... In any case, the damn thing is done.

So expect a game update in the next 24 (probably 8) hours! Looking forward to getting back to trying to kill your characters into the swing of things!

Male Wood Elf Ranger Monster Slayer (Soldier)/4; AC: 16; HP: 36/36; Passive Perception 14; Init +4 (Adv); Saves: Str +2, Dex +6; HD Used 1/3

Lol...welcome back!

Congratulations on getting it in Hewy! I hope it's a big weight off you.

And I look forward to getting the game back on track!

Revjak was definitely keeping watch while the others sorted out sleeping arrangements. He's fine with first watch.

Hey all, sorry been having an incredibly busy week with work and extra School Resource Officer duties. I'll get caught up now. Glad to hear you wrapped up your work, Hewy!

Alright, just Arthur to check back in, I'll get a map of the manor sorted out for you all in the next 12 hours. I'll fast track the exploration process there if you like.

Sorry Arthur, you had of course already checked in!

Also, turns out I had the scale wrong on the map - each square was 10 feet, not 5... oops. Anyhow, putting up the GM's maps of the lodge now, it'll be on the campaign info page but here's a link too.

Sorry for the couple of days' absence. The silly season is, indeed, getting silly.

So I am posting from work:

Apologies about not posting sooner, but I have been down internet wise for roughly a week, and will not have internet back up yet for a week or so.

This means that I haven't had internet for the last 4 days (as we had 4 days off at my work for the holiday).

It's been...an experience where I learned that I use the internet more than I thought I did.

With all of that being said, I will try to post from work as I can, but if I am in your game, please bot me as needed.

If I am running your game, please bear with me while I try to post when I can. Hopefully, sooner than better, but I want to be up front about this issue.

again, I apologize about the delay.

Hi folks, sorry for the lack of posting on my part, it's been a hectic time for me with lots of travel and work over the silly season. Over the next couple of days things will be largely returning to normal, so I'll be back on board from now on.

Male CG Human (Reghed) Barbarian 4 (Zealot) | HP: 47/47, Temp: 0/0 | AC: 14 (currently: 14) | Per +2, Stl +3, Srv +2 | Saves: Str +6*, Dex +1, Con +5*, Int -1, Wis +0, Cha -1 | Init: +1 | Passive Perception 12 | Speed 30ft | Inspiration: No| Hit Dice: 4/4, 1d12+3 | Rage: 3/3 | Active conditions: Rage 0/10

It's good to hear from you, Hewy. Looking forward to you being more active again!

No worries, Hewy! I also had a very busy holiday season this year. I hope everyone had a good holiday (whichever one you celebrate) and wish you no hangovers if you celebrated a little too heavily last night!

Hey Hewy, what would you say the favored weapon would be for the Raven Queen? I selected Spiritual Weapon as one of Reynwyn's new known spells and I want to make sure it's thematic! :)

Male CG Human (Reghed) Barbarian 4 (Zealot) | HP: 47/47, Temp: 0/0 | AC: 14 (currently: 14) | Per +2, Stl +3, Srv +2 | Saves: Str +6*, Dex +1, Con +5*, Int -1, Wis +0, Cha -1 | Init: +1 | Passive Perception 12 | Speed 30ft | Inspiration: No| Hit Dice: 4/4, 1d12+3 | Rage: 3/3 | Active conditions: Rage 0/10

Catching up now, apologies!

I am posting this to all of my games, so apologies if you see this multiple times:

Unfortunately, I have some bad news.

A combination of work-related stuff has lead to me having to take some time off from the forums. I am, in all honesty, going to need to be gone for several months, as I am going to be travelling for extended periods of time (weeks or more) and I'll likely not have good access to the internet.

As I am not someone who would want to have you all sit and wait for me here, I am going to be withdrawing/closing all of my open forum games.

I want to thank everyone who I have had the pleasure to game with over the last couple of years here, as I have immensely enjoyed my time on the forums, and hopefully, once my work stabilizes, I will be able to rejoin the community.

Thank you again for your time and energy, and I am sorry that I won't be able to keep things moving forward in any of the games that I am running.

Male Wood Elf Ranger Monster Slayer (Soldier)/4; AC: 16; HP: 36/36; Passive Perception 14; Init +4 (Adv); Saves: Str +2, Dex +6; HD Used 1/3

Sorry to see you go, Piety. Best of luck!

@GM Hewy: Do we need to add, or are you feeling like we will be ok a man down?

Male CG Human (Reghed) Barbarian 4 (Zealot) | HP: 47/47, Temp: 0/0 | AC: 14 (currently: 14) | Per +2, Stl +3, Srv +2 | Saves: Str +6*, Dex +1, Con +5*, Int -1, Wis +0, Cha -1 | Init: +1 | Passive Perception 12 | Speed 30ft | Inspiration: No| Hit Dice: 4/4, 1d12+3 | Rage: 3/3 | Active conditions: Rage 0/10

Best of luck, Piety.

Hewy, I'd be okay as is, but I've a preference for bringing in another player if someone suitable is interested.

Male Half-elf 4th Level Warlock | HP 26/26 (THP 7/7) | AC 15 | Str -1, Dex +2, Con +1, Int +2, Wis +3, Cha +6 | Init +2 | PPerc 13/16 | HD 4d8 | Spells: 2/2 | Conditions: Mage Armor

Very sorry to see you go, Piety, but I can appreciate your circumstances. Best of luck to you, my friend!

*EDIT*

In other notes, I'm sorry I missed a lot fo that combat. Apparently my main forum campaign page was not updating, because I didn't see a lot of the past few days worth of posts.

Male CG Human (Reghed) Barbarian 4 (Zealot) | HP: 47/47, Temp: 0/0 | AC: 14 (currently: 14) | Per +2, Stl +3, Srv +2 | Saves: Str +6*, Dex +1, Con +5*, Int -1, Wis +0, Cha -1 | Init: +1 | Passive Perception 12 | Speed 30ft | Inspiration: No| Hit Dice: 4/4, 1d12+3 | Rage: 3/3 | Active conditions: Rage 0/10

It happens every so often. It's caught me a few times too on different threads.

Sorry to hear it Piety, thanks for playing and good luck with everything!

As for whether to recruit another player, I'm easy either way. Revjak's a yes, anyone else have a preference?

Male HP: 33(Temp 7/7)/33, AC 17, Saves Str +0, Dex +5, Con +2, Int +0, Will +0, Cha +5. Bardic Inspiration 3/3 Day. 1st Level Spells 4/4. 2nd 3/3. Inspiration 1/1

I've no problem with it.

Male Wood Elf Ranger Monster Slayer (Soldier)/4; AC: 16; HP: 36/36; Passive Perception 14; Init +4 (Adv); Saves: Str +2, Dex +6; HD Used 1/3

I could go either way, but since we have those interested in doing so, have at it.

Any nominations for who you'd like to join the party?

I'll be botting Piety for the meanwhile. He's such a great character, he might just stick around as an NPC for good :)

Male Half-elf 4th Level Warlock | HP 26/26 (THP 7/7) | AC 15 | Str -1, Dex +2, Con +1, Int +2, Wis +3, Cha +6 | Init +2 | PPerc 13/16 | HD 4d8 | Spells: 2/2 | Conditions: Mage Armor

I'm okay with that!

As for any specific players, I'll let the other throw out some names if they've already got someone in mind. As for the class or anything, I wouldn't mind seeing a little diversity for the group. I'm not going to say "we absolutely need 'X' role filled", but I do feel like we've got the martial aspect filled pretty well.

Male CG Human (Reghed) Barbarian 4 (Zealot) | HP: 47/47, Temp: 0/0 | AC: 14 (currently: 14) | Per +2, Stl +3, Srv +2 | Saves: Str +6*, Dex +1, Con +5*, Int -1, Wis +0, Cha -1 | Init: +1 | Passive Perception 12 | Speed 30ft | Inspiration: No| Hit Dice: 4/4, 1d12+3 | Rage: 3/3 | Active conditions: Rage 0/10

How about people who were previously interested, even in passing?

Male CG Human (Reghed) Barbarian 4 (Zealot) | HP: 47/47, Temp: 0/0 | AC: 14 (currently: 14) | Per +2, Stl +3, Srv +2 | Saves: Str +6*, Dex +1, Con +5*, Int -1, Wis +0, Cha -1 | Init: +1 | Passive Perception 12 | Speed 30ft | Inspiration: No| Hit Dice: 4/4, 1d12+3 | Rage: 3/3 | Active conditions: Rage 0/10

I suspect Revjak will now find out what else Azuredge does against undead. :D

*reads Azuredge description*

Woohoo!

So, how are you guys finding the challenge level of combat?

I ask because you're all pretty kick ass, and it seems to me that you're pretty comfortably defeating everything I throw at you, despite me pushing the envelope when it comes to encounter difficulty. Per DMG guidelines, virtually every battle I throw at you is of the highest difficulty, 'Deadly'. This current battle, for instance, I considered having 5 ghasts, which would have been somewhat more difficult, but even with the one ghast and four ghouls it was well into the 'Deadly' range.

If you're all enjoying the challenge level, then there's no need to change anything. I'm happy cruising along as we are. And of course there will be the odd really tough boss battle, which we haven't really had since that first dungeon. I just want to make sure you're not finding combat too easy and getting bored :) This current battle could have been more interesting if they'd hit and paralysed some of you in round 2, but of course, they didn't.

For the record, I'm happy to continue as we are if y'all are too.

Male Half-elf 4th Level Warlock | HP 26/26 (THP 7/7) | AC 15 | Str -1, Dex +2, Con +1, Int +2, Wis +3, Cha +6 | Init +2 | PPerc 13/16 | HD 4d8 | Spells: 2/2 | Conditions: Mage Armor

So far I've had a good time with it. I actually feel like the battle at the hunting lodge was the most difficult in recent memory. Part of what made this battle easier was the tight confines and a LOT of damage from us. The battlefield was pretty straight forward, which I find has a tendency to after how things play out more than some might realize. I think that it was really made the hunting lodge battle quite tense; it was very open and we were having a very difficult time locking down our enemies and setting up a 'front-line'.

Plus, in this recent battle Reynwyn pretty much threw everything to the wind and went bat-shit crazy on these guys, because they killed his friend.

Male CG Human (Reghed) Barbarian 4 (Zealot) | HP: 47/47, Temp: 0/0 | AC: 14 (currently: 14) | Per +2, Stl +3, Srv +2 | Saves: Str +6*, Dex +1, Con +5*, Int -1, Wis +0, Cha -1 | Init: +1 | Passive Perception 12 | Speed 30ft | Inspiration: No| Hit Dice: 4/4, 1d12+3 | Rage: 3/3 | Active conditions: Rage 0/10

Most battles have been fine. That lodge came come close to disaster but I enjoyed it. A thumbs up from me on the overall difficulty.

Male Wood Elf Ranger Monster Slayer (Soldier)/4; AC: 16; HP: 36/36; Passive Perception 14; Init +4 (Adv); Saves: Str +2, Dex +6; HD Used 1/3

Yeah...I concur...so far, so good.

Okay, I'll just continue as I was then :)

Sorry folks - hectic week, and Australia Day on the weekend too. I've been gigging a lot, and celebrating quite a bit too.

A few thing came up this weekend which was set to be quite busy as it was (including my car breaking down) so free time for PBP hasn't been in abundance. I will be posting tomorrow in all my games. Sorry for the delay.

Male CG Human (Reghed) Barbarian 4 (Zealot) | HP: 47/47, Temp: 0/0 | AC: 14 (currently: 14) | Per +2, Stl +3, Srv +2 | Saves: Str +6*, Dex +1, Con +5*, Int -1, Wis +0, Cha -1 | Init: +1 | Passive Perception 12 | Speed 30ft | Inspiration: No| Hit Dice: 4/4, 1d12+3 | Rage: 3/3 | Active conditions: Rage 0/10

No worries Hewy!

Also, in the next few hours or so, I'll do a recap of where the campaign's at, and what possible directions you might want to go in now that the lodge is pretty much done. You have more than a few options, and maybe start thinking/discussing now about what you might want to pursue!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

So here are some of the things you could pursue once you leave the lodge. Entirely up to you guys what you want to do.

  • The party encountered one Breck, who had been hired to follow them. The story as far as you know it was outlined in this post. Furthermore, as outlined in this post, Kehlann Majarra learnt that the assassin who nearly killed him on the way to Waterdeep was in fact recruited at the same tavern Breck was by a man matching the description Breck gave of his mysterious employer, who is possibly an adherent of Shar. Kehlann is very keen for you to follow up on this lead.
  • Speaking of followers of Shar, Reynwyn you heard about one of those in this post in relation to your uncle, told to you by Ammathair Hawkfeather. He also gave you directions to what your uncle believed to be a Shadow Door to the Raven Queen's realm - directions that lead into Undermountain, and which your uncle set out to follow the last time Hawkfeather (or anyone) saw him.
  • Revjak has dreamt of Undermountain in relation to Azuredge, and has also encountered a young woman, a well-regarded potion-making wizard named Shalara Malarkkin...
  • Arthur is chasing the "Albino Flind". There were hints that it was here in the Ardeep Forest, but you've not heard anything about it (yet...?).
  • Carric has discovered that his friend from Silverymoon, a Harper named Dieredon, has disappeared some months ago, and was last seen at a gathering at the Tarbrossen house in Waterdeep. In following up this lead, Carric has also encountered Sarissa Tarbrossen, who, it seems, made quite the impression on the elven ranger.
  • The hobgoblin who fled the first dungeon your party cleared out took the magical mask that was there. You've not heard anything of him since, but gee, that mask sure seemed powerful...
  • Most (all?) of you met a party of arrogant and contemptuous adventurers, who seemed to be quite well-off, in the Yawning Portal, so named for the entrance to Undermountain that sits in the middle of its common room.

I think that's most of the plot strands you've encountered... There seems to be a few things going on! If anyone can think of anything else I've forgotten, let me know.

  • Male Wood Elf Ranger Monster Slayer (Soldier)/4; AC: 16; HP: 36/36; Passive Perception 14; Init +4 (Adv); Saves: Str +2, Dex +6; HD Used 1/3

I think that we need to follow-up first on the description we have of the assassin at the tavern who hired Breck. We should know why we have been followed.

    Male Half-elf 4th Level Warlock | HP 26/26 (THP 7/7) | AC 15 | Str -1, Dex +2, Con +1, Int +2, Wis +3, Cha +6 | Init +2 | PPerc 13/16 | HD 4d8 | Spells: 2/2 | Conditions: Mage Armor

Agreed, I think that is probably our best place to start upon our return. We can always look into the albino flind while we are here in Ardeep.

Did we ever figure out how the new player will be?

    Male CG Human (Reghed) Barbarian 4 (Zealot) | HP: 47/47, Temp: 0/0 | AC: 14 (currently: 14) | Per +2, Stl +3, Srv +2 | Saves: Str +6*, Dex +1, Con +5*, Int -1, Wis +0, Cha -1 | Init: +1 | Passive Perception 12 | Speed 30ft | Inspiration: No| Hit Dice: 4/4, 1d12+3 | Rage: 3/3 | Active conditions: Rage 0/10

    There's loads to follow up!

I'm fine with hunting an assassin. And Revjak will give them a warm welcome - with cold steel. ;)

Apologies for the delay, it's been a tiring few days.

    Male CG Human (Reghed) Barbarian 4 (Zealot) | HP: 47/47, Temp: 0/0 | AC: 14 (currently: 14) | Per +2, Stl +3, Srv +2 | Saves: Str +6*, Dex +1, Con +5*, Int -1, Wis +0, Cha -1 | Init: +1 | Passive Perception 12 | Speed 30ft | Inspiration: No| Hit Dice: 4/4, 1d12+3 | Rage: 3/3 | Active conditions: Rage 0/10

Well, I'm back posting. Apologies for the delays!

Sorry I wanted to post yesterday but the site was down.

Just so you all know, I've put up a spoiler tab on the campaign page with a list of all the current plot threads, similar to the post above. I'll keep updating it as things go on. I recommend you check it out every now and then to remind you of things that your characters are interested in :)

Cheers Hewy, that should be helpful. There's a lot to keep track of.
