Kelrot grew up a poor bastard in the Industrial Quarter of Axiom around where the smiths forge their iron. Kelrot's mother wanted him to be an apprentice to the smiths, but most of his childhood he spent using sticks to spar with the other children instead. He would watch as the city guards came in to pick up their beautifully forged steel in their elegant clothes and armor. Oh how he longed for a life like that! As he aged, his prowess sharpened.
When he turned 18 he applied for the city guard and was accepted into the training program. After training for about a year, Kelrot was let go under somewhat unknown circumstances. This crushed his childhood dream, and he decided to prove to himself he was worth becoming a guard. He cast his lot in with this mysterious caravan of newcomers to Axiom hoping to act as protection to get out of this town and away from his shame.
Kelrot is usually good natured and is inherently good. He has a slightly subdued nature; and like many that are drawn to being guards, he usually speaks only when spoken to. While his temper can bubble to the surface, he can usually keep it in check. He may snub the law in some regards (probably why he didn't make it long trting to be a guard) but is usually interested in doing the right thing. His competetive nature seems to work against him at times, but it has driven his martial proficiency.
Edit: Swapped around WIS, INT, and CHA a bit. Updated sheet

Let's see what a stat reroll would look like, for curiosity's sake:
Stat the first - redux: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 3, 6) = 11 10
Stat the second - redux: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 5, 1) = 17 16
Stat the third - redux: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 5, 6) = 20 16
Stat the fourth - redux: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 6, 4) = 15 14
Stat the fifth - redux: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 2, 3) = 14 12
Stat the sixth - redux: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 4, 3) = 18 15
Stat the reroll - redux (reroll of 10): 4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 1, 5) = 17 16
So a final array of 16, 16, 16, 14, 12, 15...apparently the dice roller's just bound and determined to give me really good luck this game...but I think I'll go ahead and switch to that. It tones things down slightly while staying a good all-round spread for my concept (which needs a wide array of stats).
RE: shield proficiency/bonus rules - that's absolutely fine, Ollie. It was just vague enough that I figured I'd ask, since I'm looking at weapon-and-shield dual-wielding. I'll go with the trait, then. Hero points/extra crit rules are fine, too.

Hey, the dice give and the dice take away. I have an azlanti brawler on the boards who doesn't have a single stat below a 14. All it means is she has nice saves, is decent at both ranged an melee combat, and has a few extra skillpoints to play with. Having 6 really good stats isn't that much more powerful than having 4 really good ones, at least in my opinion.

Okay, sweet. I have a couple of WoP characters currently, so I'm getting fairly used to the system. Really fun, and it works great with PBP.
I've had an idea for an ice-type blaster kicking around for a while. Just a couple of questions before I finish off the build:
1: Say I want to cast a fireball that leaves a cloud of smoke behind afterwords. Would this be possible, or would the smoke dissipate instantly because it's 'instantaneous?' (By RAW, it should go away immediately.)
2: Does the Human Favored Class Bonus for sorcerers (one bonus spell known) give me an extra spell or an extra word?
3: How do feats that give a bonus to one spell apply to Words? Could I take Spell Specialization (Wrack) and get the bonus to Wrack+Fog Bank?
4: I'm thinking a silver dragon/primal elemental water (wildblooded) crossblooded sorcerer. Can I have a wildblood bloodline as one of my bloodlines, or do they both have to be normal bloodlines?
Thanks.
1. I think that is something I would be okay with workshopping a little, because it is a cool idea and I'd like for it to be possible, but not without at least a small increase to spell level when you'd want to add the secondary effect. It's definitely something I'm open to working with you on.
2. That'll be an extra word.
3. Hm. I think, since Spell Specialization is usually for a single spell, I'd have you take the feat for the specific combination of words you wanted to use. So if you wanted the bonus for Wrack+Fog Bank, you'd have to designate that when you took the feat.
4. I'm okay with one of your bloodlines being wildblooded, it seems to me that the only reason they might not be compatible would be semantics.
I'm alright with those rules. Do you use Hero Points strictly RAW or do you have your own variation?
Hero Points are by RAW.
Also, dang, the dice just really want you to play this cleric, Rennaivx. Talk about luck.

1: Okay, great. The way that WoP works is that I combine Words to create new effects with variable targeting, power, etc., so the fireball+fog cloud would already be a level higher than normal.
2: Okay, I can work with that.
3: Hmm... bit of a shame. I lose a lot of the flexibility WoP gives me, but I suppose I can work with that. It just makes me more of a traditional blaster, and less of a "fluid magic-user."
Basically, if it could be applied to any, I would be able to use more varied effects, rather than focusing on a single spell. Continuing the example from before, it would mean that I could start off with a specialized cloud bank of pain, then get the same bonuses when I later want to apply wrack to a fireball, or something. Not contesting your ruling, just explaining why I asked and hoped otherwise.
4: Sounds good. One sorcerer coming right up.
Oh, and the houserules work fine for me.

Well, that would be the benefit of WoP. It allows me to not spam the same combo every round, but vary it depending on the situation. Basically (to use, instead of boosting just my fireball, I could also mix it up with chain lightning once in a while without dropping my damage output significantly.
But, like I said, happy to abide by the decision. Almost done with the build, just gearing up.

Right? And my luck with dice usually swings so far the other direction...
Saria should be about ready to go. I did go the Heirloom Weapon route with the shield, and picked up Two-Weapon Fighting and Improved Shield Bash. (Selective Channeling as well, so I can fulfill a healer role - thanks for allowing flaws!) I'm just finalizing the details like shopping now.
Question: would you allow me to use the Friendship subdomain? It's not technically associated with Arshea, but it's connected to a domain associated with him (Good), and thematically it's very cool and fitting for a deity focused on deepening connections between people.

I think my character is the only one affected here but there is no consensus on how to handle Animal Companions with Automatic Bonus Progression. It was lazy of Paizo to not factor that in, unless "all character's" means literally everyone. I am fine with the AC getting the same progression but that is probably unfair. On the other hand, not having any bonuses or having to split them is going to be harmful as well.

Yeah, that seems like kind of a tricky situation. I think it's probably intended for you to be spending your own money on your companion's gear, but that's only so viable when this ruleset also removes the items you'd be buying them from play. I think what I'm going to go with is allowing your companion to take the bonus progression as well, but will count as four levels lower than you are for the sake of determining bonuses. Sound fair?

I don't have a problem with it. It definitely seems like something that would be fitting, and it's nothing you'll be breaking my game with.
Unrelated, giving it until the 8th for character submissions was definitely too long, and it seems like those have slowed down some. I'm going to be out of town this weekend, but when I come back, I should be able to make some selections and get this ball rolling for real. So, updated cutoff point for character submissions will be April 2nd!

Fair? Probably. Good? Not in my opinion I would prefer it if the companion got a bonus to armor and weapons before level 8. May I instead, split the bonuses up? For instance, at level 8 we get armor +1/+1 and Weapon +1/+1. This is meant for duel wielding but can I split it between her bow and the horses natural weapons? Weapon +2 would work the same way. Either +2 on one weapon or split +1/+1. The once a day re-attunement would allow me to change either PC or animal companion. Same for resistance, deflection, nat armor, etc. Physical and mental prowess has to be split per +2 and as long as I don't go over the maximum for any one ability, they can be split any way.

I think that could wind up nerfing you pretty badly in the long run. Yeah, ideally, an amount of your wealth should be going to your mount, but it shouldn't be as limiting to your PC's growth as that would wind up being.
As a compromise, how does having your mount's HD count as their level sound? They'll start getting bonuses at a much lower level, but the progression still won't be as fast as yours, and it won't go quite as high.

Sorry for the multiple posts. This was my first time trying to get into a play by post, so I feel it wasn't as polished as it could be. Here is a link to the finally finished character

I forgot about using HD as level. The only thing it would get at a lower level is resistance 1. 4HD is level 4 and from there it slows down. That will work.

I mean. It could be worse, nothing under 11 after the reroll, but wow. I'll see if I can come up with something to spite the dice gods.

Alright, so! I've thought a bit about the submitted characters, and I've come to a decision on who I'm going to choose to start out.
So, to begin, the party is going to consist of:
Thank you so much to everyone who applied! To those of you who did not quite make it into the final party, I am going to be keeping you in mind in the event that I need to fill in a spot a bit later on.
For right now, I've got the discussion thread up and running over here, so please head over that way and get yourself situated. I'll hopefully have the gameplay thread up and running some time tonight, and we can really get this ball rolling.
