If you really want to attack, than that is your call, but leave declaring Surprise Rounds to me. Also the goblins are at 100 feet distance, you will have a miss chance as you are not able to clearly see them, Forfax could because he has Darkvision.
Taliesin fires into the area where Forfax mentioned the goblins to be and hits one goblin, a low grunt and a roar of anger comes from the group of goblins. You are not sure if the goblin is dead or not.
Suddenly the sound of at least 49 angry goblins can be heard, storming towards the walls and the northern sidegate of Heartham.

I'm waiting for Elenzar to post before resolving anything further.
Forfax
|
Well I was hoping to check out our guard and see how he died, but I guess there's no point in doing that.
I'm assuming Forfax grabbed the horn because no one ever specified having it and he's the only one without a ranged weapon.
Forfax blows the horn as loud as he can.
Taliesin Flamel
Will do DM. And forfax it is my understanding that he dead guard is on the side with the other team.
Well my simple reason is that they are obviously waiting for a specific situation / order in order to act. I was hopping to trow then off balance into attempting to attack before that specific condition was meet. Therefore hoping to gain the upper hand, having them react to us instead of the other way around. After all we have walls they had to past...
Elenzar the Bastard
Elenzar looks pale a momemt as the relazation of the dead guard. He turns to Nathan, " should we man the walls?"
He almost drops his bolt as he loads his crossbow when the sound of the horn calls out.

-West Group
The sound of the horn sounds across the northern part of town, a deep and clear sound.
Nathan jumps up as he hears it echo across the stone wall. "Elenzar, Nathaniel, we have to hurry."
He sprints away to the east back to the sidegate.
They are trying to get the doors of the gate to open and were startled by the sounding of the horn as well.
Two goblins are busy with opening the gate and two are watching toward the east. They have not noticed you approaching, they are too distracted.
You guys act first.
-East Group
The goblins double move towards the walls and are now at 30-40 feet distance from you.
You guys are up.
Nathaniel Thames
Nathaniel slows down as he sees the goblins. He looks at Elenza;
"Elenzar, you ready to dispose of these?", he said with a mild smirk on his face.
Since you didn't mention a distance, i'm assuming they are within normal distance, so i won't have to charge.
Move: head for nearest goblin who isn't opening the gate

David will take a quick moment in an attempt to load the crossbow. He has difficulty since he has never really used one much til today. After a few agonizing moments, he gives up. He raises his hand, if almost by instinct. His hand moving in very precise movements and his speech becoming clear and powerful. Arcane energy, flows through David, and builds over time until it is unleashed upon the goblin horde.

DESCRIPTION
A sleep spell causes a magical slumber to come upon 4 HD of creatures. Creatures with the fewest HD are affected first. Among creatures with equal HD, those who are closest to the spell's point of origin are affected first. HD that are not sufficient to affect a creature are wasted. Sleeping creatures are helpless. Slapping or wounding awakens an affected creature, but normal noise does not. Awakening a creature is a standard action (an application of the aid another action). Sleep does not target unconscious creatures, constructs, or undead creatures.

Talisien hits a goblin with his bolt, the goblin is hit in the shoulder and roars defiantly at you, many other goblins quickly overtake him running forward.
David tries to cast his first real offensive spell and tries to slow down the goblin horde.

3 goblins fall asleep in the middle of their run, the fourth just blinks and continues running. The goblins that fell asleep are being trampled by the rest of the horde as they fall down onto the ground.
At least 46 goblins still closing in on the wall. Forfax you may shortly post your actions for round 2.

Nathan races at the goblins trying to open the gate, charging down the line with his sword at the ready.
Nathan's Attack: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 5 + 2 = 101d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Alas his swing misses the goblin as it peeks closer into the lock, barely avoiding Nathan's swing.
Elenzar the Bastard
the action I am reading suggests they are inside the walls? Hence melee is the way to go if I follow Nathan's lead.
Elenzar hurries to follow. He struggles to keep up with the Nathan. He manuvers into formation, trying to remember his one day of militia training.

David, feels a little light headed as cast his first real spell. He is taken back a bit since he wasn't expecting it to be so taxing on his body. He fumbles with his crossbow some more, and finds success this time with loading it. He levels it at one of the charging goblins, takes careful aim while his hands tremble slightly and...CLICK, the bolt goes screaming above the goblin horde and into the horizon.

Actions for round 2
I move towards the goblin picking the lock and attack.
Can't let the gate be opened.
Swing the heavy mace: 1d20 + 1 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 1 + 5 = 22
Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
I'm pretty sure such a blow would shatter his head and paint the gate red....but that'll be up to the GM :)

The goblins having now noticed you, figure they are cornered and try to fight their way out, seeing as there are only 3 of you as well.
All of them raise their weapons, the 2 at the gate draw a dagger and the one near Nathaniel 5-foot steps and draws a heavy mace.
Attack against Nathan: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 211d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Attack against Elenzar: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 161d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Attack against Nathaniel: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 171d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Nathan is hit in a soft spot by the goblin dagger and groans, but he is used to fighting and being wounded.
Elenzar can barely evade the dagger that is thrust to his sides, but still manages to remain unharmed.
Nathaniel sees the swinging of the goblin's mace almost too late, almost. His shield arm was just quick enough to move in front of the blow, though the power behind the blow will leave his left arm sore tomorrow.
End of round 1
Round 2:
Nathaniel: acted you provoke a AoO from the goblin next to you.
Elenzar: To act
Nathan: Waiting for Elenzar's action
Goblins: Hoping to be alive, to act.
AoO against Nathaniel: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 81d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Nathaniel evades the incoming blow easily by moving slightly out of the way and to the goblins at the gate. The goblin there didn't see Nathaniel's mace coming and its head get smashed between the gate and Nathaniel's hammer, leaving the goblin with two headwounds one at each side. He slumps to the ground and doesn't move anymore.
-East Group
Forfax: to act
Goblins: to act, enraged.
Talisien: to act
David: actions posted, waiting for the rest
Nathaniel, the damage is impressive, but a critical might get you more detailed/gory deaths as painting the gate red in blood.

-West Group
Elenzar cuts the goblin again this time in the opposite way, cutting through the leather armour of the goblin and leaving an X-marked cut on its body. The goblin falls flat on his back, motionless.
Nathan sees that the goblins at the gate are dealt with, he then charges the last remaining goblin with his sword.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 5 + 2 = 141d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Nathan delivers a cut to the goblin, but it remains standing.
He moves away from Nathan and grabs his own horn, he inhales deeply and blows it three times.
East Group you have your actions for round 2 to finish before you hear the goblin horn.
Ye Old Storyteller
Forfax stands ready at the top of the wall, ready to hold off any goblins that try to scale the wall.
The front goblins seem to grab something from their bags as they move the last few feet, light it with help of the ones behind them and then try to throw the torches over the wall.
Many of the torches hit the wall on the outside, falling back into the grass, sparking some small fires. Two torches actually slip and fall between the goblins and some start to argue about being hit and the other goblin being stupid.
Two torches seem to find Talisien and Forfax on the wall, though they can evade the torches, the burning fire close to their feet makes them worry about the other two torches flying past them.
Those torches fly over their head and onto the roofs of the buildings behind them.
Taliesin manages to hit one of the goblins again at his shoulder, but it doesn't go down just yet.
David fires another bolt as well and slays the goblin Talisien just fired at.
You indeed get bonuses for being on higher ground, would be +2 yes.
As the sound of sizzling roofs and torches begins to reach your ears and smoke fills your nose, a deep hard sound can be heard from the northern sidegate. Three times it calls out. This is definitely not the same kind of horn as Forfax had just blown on.
Ye Old Storyteller
-West Group/Gate Group
Nathaniel silences the last goblin in a hard way, smashing the goblin so hard in his belly that he folds over the blow and collapses, the horn dropping out of his hands.
-East Group
The goblins turn tail and run, some stand and throw another torch, hoping to catch someone by surprise. They miss everybody standing on the walls and the torch lands just inside the walls. Then they start to run as well.
Talisien, David, you still have a chance to shoot any of the stragglers if you want
The fire starts to spread slowly across the roofs, several men come out of the houses to see what all the ruckus was and see their house is on fire. They quickly warn their families to get out.
Elenzar the Bastard
Elenzar looks to see if there are more goblins in plain sight.
If not
He rushes first for the horn and the fallen goblin. "He cried out Krellwood, he may have an insignia or symbol." He searches quickly fist the horn which he puts in his belt then the body for chains with pendants or symbols or uniform.
Ye Old Storyteller
-East Group
Talisien manages to hit one of the stragglers in his right side, David however misses and the bolt plants itself into the grass a few feet in front of the goblin. Angrily the goblins run, clearing 140 feet as they run away.
The fire seems to spread across the roofs when a sudden bell chime sounds close to the burning houses.
"Fire! Fire!" is called out "Everyone bring your buckets! We also need a few ladders!" The villagers seem to have experience with fires. There are two buildings which roofs are burning.
-West Group
Elenzar's Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
Elenzar doesn't see any goblins anymore, before he retrieves the horn.
As he searches the goblins at the gate for any signs of insignia he finds 2 heavy maces, 4 leather armour, 4 daggers, 2 blowguns, and 12 remaining poisoned darts that fit those blowguns. Furthermore he finds 50 ft hemp rope and 2 grappling hooks at the blowgun wielding goblins, a few amethysts and amber pieces at the one that was carrying the horn, but no insignia.
Nathan & Nathaniel's Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 121d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Nathan and Nathaniel overturn the goblins as well looking for anything but can't find anything that gives them more information.
"I can't find anything on them that ties them to Krewlod more than that they are goblins Elenzar. Are you sure he said Krewlod?" Nathan says as he searches the bodies. "Though this attack was more thought out than I would have given them credit for on their own. No goblin raid has been this organised that I can remember."
Elenzar the Bastard
Elenzar looks toward the fires then to Nathan, "Should we move tward the fire or hold the gate. If there is a second wave . . . " He lets the implication of his words linger. "The will find a use I am sure.
David Trufant III

David slumped against the wall once he was positive the goblins were gone for good.
Uh..uh..the fires. We gotta help put the fires out.
David shimmied down to the vase of the wall, exhausted from the past events. Even if it only lasted a few seconds, it felt like minutes. David rushes over to the burning roofs. He raises his palm, and after a few choice words and hand movements, a rush of water goes cascading over the roof to help extinguish the fires.
David will go over to the next house and repeat he cascading of water. Afterwards, he turns to the others, Taliesin and Forfax, and ponders for a moment,
The others, where is Elenzar and Nathaniel? Is the western gate still intact?
Ye Old Storyteller
The villagers themselves form a bucketline with one standing on the ladder and the rest giving them through. David's actions of creating water are met with awe and amazement and grateful faces for the fires on the roofs are easily extinguished.
David is asked by a few villagers "Are you one of the new priests or clergy in our town?"
The fires outside the wall still burn, though not as fast, the grass is still wet from the rains at night. After the roofs, the people notice the smoke plumes outside the wall and focus their attention on that.
Shortly after, Odric comes with a small batallion up from the east gate.
"We came as soon as the skirmish at the East Gate was finished, we heard the horn calling. They attacked with close to a hundred at our side, carrying a battering ram. Luckily they were no match for our forces.
What happened here?"
Nathan looks at him then at you, nodding his head as to say "Go ahead, you tguys tell him."
Taliesin Flamel
Nathan got our group an we went over the north gate. Once we arrived we separated in two smaller group. My Group went East of the Gate along the wall. As we went east from our splitting point, we noticed torches up along the wall, with two non-consecutive torches missing or unlit. We therefore went up the wall to investigate. There Forfax saw a rather large goblin group that was 100 ft away from the wall hiding as best as they could. We saw the guard that was keeping that area of the wall dead several feet away from us. That is when we decided to blow the horn as the large group of goblin was waiting for something. We were hoping to trow them off their plan or have them attack sooner then what their general plan called for. As soon as Forfax blew the horn the group of 50 goblins attacked the wall. We took shoots at them at they came rushing down. As they came about 30ft of the wall an other horn blew coming from the West. As the goblin arrived close to the wall they got startled. It seemed that they were looking for something or some sort of action that was supposed to happened. And so they switch their tactics and the front line light some torches, and thew them over the wall. We heard again the sound coming from the West. But is sounded like a different Horn then the one Forfax blew. A few seconds after that they turned tails and ran. The whole thing lasted under a minute but we managed to kill or wound a whole bunch. replied taliesin as he concentrated to put all the events in order.
Elenzar the Bastard
Elenzar speaks as well, "We were at the West Gate. Some Gobs had made it in and we fought them back from trying to open the gate. Here is the 'different sounding horn' they blew. The Goblin now dead cried out something in their fell speech but one word was clear. Krellwood."
Ye Old Storyteller
The villagers believe David on his words and the few villagers around him thank him heartily. "Thank you very much, when we've cleaned our home you are always welcome in it."
Odric listens carefully to Talisien's story and then to Elenzar's comments about the gate.
"Soldiers get those men from the walls and give them a proper burial, they have fullfullied their service to us."
A few men go up the walls and collect the bodies of the dead guards as Odric turns to you again.
"It is good that Lord Midway sent Nathan and Marek and you for the north and south gates. They have tried to open both of them. I wonder why they didn't have more siege equipment, with this much planning things could have gone much worse for us."
He seems to think on the name Monn.
"I can't quite say the name sounds familiar to me, though if this is their leader he must be quite known among goblins. If Krewlod is indeed behind this, we'd better make plans."
He turns to his soldiers.
"Men, I want more patrols along the walls, no soldier or militia is to be guarding alone."
"As for you five, go get some rest, we can't comand you but we need your help when you've rested enough."
