Nathan turns his horse around and charges the nearest goblin, the one near Nathaniel, instantly slaying it as he chops its head clean off. He then moves towards the next few, flanking the goblins and drawing their attention.
Ride Check Nathan: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 9 + 2 = 19
Nathan's Ride by attack: 1d20 + 5 - 1 ⇒ (15) + 5 - 1 = 191d8 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 1 + 2 = 10
Marek dismounts his horse in a blink of an eye and lands hard on the ground with a big thump.
Marek Fast dismount: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 7 + 2 = 21
He walks over to the nearest goblin, the one attacking the young Greythumb, with a large grin on his face. He hefts his heavy flail and attempts to crush the goblin under its power.
Marek's attack: 1d20 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (10) + 7 - 1 = 161d10 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 3 + 2 = 10
He swings his weapon so hard and furiously that when it hits you swear you can hear the goblin's neck snap under the impact.
Richard Greythumb tends to his father and bars the way of the other goblins to him, ready for any attacker that comes his way.
Three Garrocks jump on the other goblin that came to close.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 201d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 41d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
Two stumble off their horses but the third one grapples the goblin and holds him close as the Head of The Garrock family dismounts and walks up close, grinding his fists ready for a few punches.
Grapple check: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 5 + 2 = 12
Sling attack: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (1) + 2 - 4 = -11d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
The Oakhalls stay pretty much out of the fight, one is trying to use a sling he brought from home, but his inexperience with it makes the stone fall out the back of the sling as he spins it.
Round 1 complete, Actions for round 2; Forfax you're up. To be clear just one more goblin standing in melee, grappled at the Garrock family, 5 at a distance of 40 feet

Forfax, figuring the Garrocks could handle the remaining goblin here, charges at the nearest goblin in the new group:

Charging is a special full-round action that allows you to move up to twice your speed and attack during the action. Charging, however, carries tight restrictions on how you can move.

David, watching the chaos unfold before him. He musters up the resolves to lash out at a goblin, while trying to protect his fleshy parts from their crude weapons of horrible destruction.

Forfax charges with his pitchfork held steadily in his hands and kills one of the axe throwers. The pitchfork went right in his belly, he looks at you with fear and surprise then slumps to the ground.
Many of the goblins still choose to fight, one of the axe throwers however turns tail and runs from the furious fighting Forfax.
You'll get an AoO Forfax they were quite close to each other.
Thrown Axe vs Forfax: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 71d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Melee attack vs Forfax: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 101d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Melee attack vs Nathan: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 201d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Grapple check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
Forfax manages to evade the axe that was thrown at him, but had trouble with charging goblin coming at him. He luckily moved the dead goblin in the way and the attacker's swing missed him barely, the mace coming just a few inches from his face.
The last goblin charged Nathan and hit him on his leg, he grunted, but remains perfectly seated on his horse. The goblin at the Garrocks breaks free from the grapple but can't do much more as he sees four men approaching.
David goes on to fight with the goblin close to Nathan, distracting it but missing it due to his carefulness.
Taliesin charges and attacks the goblin that closed in on Forfax and strikes him in his chest, perforating his heart and anything that lies in the same line.
Nathan's Attack: 1d20 + 5 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (18) + 5 + 2 - 1 = 241d8 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 1 + 2 = 11
Nathan attacks the goblin that came charging towards him and slays it right on the spot by putting his sword through its head. then moves up towards the others.
Elenzar and Marek both charge the remaining axe thrower that did not run. Elenzar manages to dart around the goblin while charging and stings it a few times with his rapier in its side.
Marek's Attack: 1d20 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (6) + 7 - 1 = 121d10 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 2 = 8
The axe thrower managed to evade Marek's blow and looks on quite scared as the group closes around him.
The Garrocks surround the gobliin and overmaster him, twisting his neck before he can do anything else. four against one, not rolling for that
Nathaniel charges the last goblin, not used to charging he swings his hammer too early and misses.
Round 2 complete, Round 3 actions GO. one goblin remaining, one fleeing.

Ye Old Storyteller |

Forfax you may take that as an AoO as I said, must have gone lost in the post.
The goblin that attempted to flee turns his back on Forfax and gets stabbed by a pitchfork, he falls to the ground his blood mingling with the dirt underneath.
Goblin Attack on Elenzar: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 131d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Combat is pretty much over, just roll your attacks for bragging rights of the last goblin.

Ye Old Storyteller |

As the goblins have fallen and the combat is over, Marek mounts his horse again and Nathan checks up on Alanor Greythumb.
The Garrocks that are wounded have either scrapes and bruises from falling off their horse or a small axewound that they shrug off as "Just a fleshwound."
Taliesin and Nathaniel are hurt, but nobody seems close to death.
"Alanor is hurt but he could ride a horse still. We have still a few miles to go, so we'd better hurry and keep riding even if we are under attack. They don't appear to have long range weapons so as long as we keep riding we should make it to Heartham intact." Nathan says as he looks up from the wounded Alanor.
Nathan and Richard help Alanor back into his saddle, then both of them mount their horses again as well.
"We should move quickly, this might have attracted more unwanted attention. If you want any of their gear be quick about it."
Goblin equipment: 1 morningstar, 9 Leather armour, 5 light maces, 3 throwing axes still intact, a few minor gems and little nuggets of gold (roll an appraise check to see how much it is worth, you may do so untrained)

Elenzar the Bastard |

Not waiting for much discussion. Elenzar starts to scoop up gems and gold. He tosses weaons in a pile. If anyone questions him, "Just the gear could be worth a few months work." He begins the unpleasant work of stripping the leather armor from the corpses.

After a few moments, David stops shaking. The battle, took a toll on his psyche. He has been in fights, but that was when he was younger; childhood bullying and the sort. This however, was something primal. He failed to do anything, but he is the son of an herbalist, not a trained militia. I hope we get to Hearthem soon, I need a cold drink, and some peace David thought to himself.
When he sees the various goods on the dead Goblin bodies, he wonders outloud, I know tey were used by despicable creatures, but can any of this be useful to Hearthem? Free armaments can't possibly be a bad thing ca they?
appraise: 1d20 ⇒ 4

Elenzar the Bastard |

Elenzar sees David looking over the goods. "Here." Elenzar hands David one of two bundles he hurriedly put together. A Morningstar and 3 throwing axes rolled up in 4 suits of leather armor bound with the belts of the fallen. "We can take stock later." He rolls up another bundle with the maces and remaining armor. He makes his way to his mount and straps the bundle to the back of the saddle. He has an awkward moment trying to get back in the saddle as he struggles to get his leg up and over the additional load. After a moment of undignified wiggling he looks about hoping no one saw. "err all set."

![]() |

Forfax is just glowing with self admiration after his kills. After strapping his pitchfork back on to Dolly he prepares for a very graceful and professional mount. As he jumps though he realizes he has used to much of that adrenaline and proceeds to fly over the saddle and face first into some soft mud on the other side. Though no real damage is done his pride and self admiration have plummeted and he is humble once more. After quickly cleaning himself off he mounts Dolly slowly this time making sure to sit in the saddle not on the ground.

Ye Old Storyteller |

The group of men hastily gathers the belongings from the goblins and mounts up and leaves as fast as they can.
The road to Heartham is pretty straight forward, there are not many interruptions along the road except the one or two goblins trampled underfoot as you caught a scouting party by surprise.
All along the way you can see dark puffs of smoke bellow up into the air. It is too small for anything large and too spread out to be the same place.
As you arrive at Heartham's western gate, you can see a few dozen goblins laying dead with arrows in them, apparently the guards and archers up on the wall are quite vigilant.
"Open the gate John. We're back from Greenbrook with supplies and extra help!" Nathan shouts up to the city's walls.
A young but dirt and worn face pops up over the walls and shouts back."Well it's about time you two got back here, we were worried about you two. Just a second." The man shouts orders to open the gate and disappears.
A few moments later the gates open and you are welcomed and greeted by the same man within the walls of Heartham.
"Welcome, welcome my friends. And my soon to be new friends of Greenbrook, I'm sure. It is sad that we have to meet under these circumstances, but I'm very glad to meet you just the same. Let me introduce myself, John Faraks, captain of the western district of Heartham, at your service."
Now up close John is somewhere in his late twenties or early thirties, you're not quite sure. His short cut brown hair, except his long hair at the back, indicates that he is not the regular Erathian soldier or he just hates conformation.
John and Nathan embrace each other as long last brothers, while Marek and John look more reserved towards each other.
"You will be pleased to know that we got some extra help as well from the northern direction. A small group of veteran mercenaries has appeared yesterday to offer their services, though they know we can't quite pay them now they will help us in the coming skirmishes. They're staying at the Rose Petal Inn as we speak."
John delegates command to his lieutenant and walks along with you to centre of Heartham.
Roleplay away guys, at the end of the next day you are all your next NPC class, so Expert, Warrior or Adept.

Ye Old Storyteller |

The new class is going to replace the old class. When you get your actual PC class you will be a gestalt character at level 1 only.
In other words: Warrior/Expert/Adept overwrites Commoner, then into for example Warrior 1/Paladin 1 at first level. You get the best of both worlds, the best of saves from either your Warrior/Adept/Expert or your PC class, the same goes for skill ranks at level 1, BAB and armour/weapon proficiencies. From level two and on you'll only get normal character progression.

Nathaniel Thames |

Nathaniel visits the blacksmith, as he has heard stories on the skilled craftsmanship coming from him.
After that he wanders around abit, looking at the notable buildings and shops. After a short while he sees Elenzar.
"Hey there Elenzar! I see you're doing a bit of sightseeing yourself as well. I've been to the blacksmith, he has on display some amazing items."
Turning his head around for abit, then resumes;
"So, have you seen anything that has taken your interest thus far?"

Elenzar the Bastard |

Elenzar smiles, "Show me this blacksmith I have some gear to unload." He calls up to David. "David let's go see if we can sell this robber gear before it starts smelling like something died in it. If we are to be mixing it up again I think there are some items we will need. I mean all I have is soft shoes and a scribes robe. I'm not planning to take dictation for the goblins."

![]() |

Indeed Elenzar. I wouldn't mind getting a fresh charge of clothes. I am quite ripe from the travels. I could use what my father taught me about mixing compounds to make some stuff. Nothing amazing, just some vials of acid and maybe an alchemist fire if I can remember the formula. David says with a smile and follows Elenzar to the blacksmith.

Ye Old Storyteller |

As you walk around Heartham you notice still many things of the usual business here tends to continue. Though the presence of goblins outside the walls keeps some of the older men and women distracted with gossip and worries, the young think it will pass soon enough. They believe that Erathian reinforcements will come soon, for King Nicolas has always been swift to act in transgression matters.
John Faraks leads you to the Rose Petal Inn at the centre of Heartham, it is quite close to the marketplace and the church, pretty typical for Erathian towns.
"You are free to walk around Heartham of course, however I would like you all to have dinner with me, the mayor and Lord Midway at the Rose Petal Inn tonight. I think we'd like to talk about the way you wanted to aid us."
He shakes your hands and asks you if he can be of anymore service to you now. Nathaniel asked about Gerome Hammerblow's shop and John carefully points it out to you.
"Gerome's business is nearby, go back the west lane we came from, take the second street to your right and go almost all the way north. His shop is nearly at the end of it."
To Elenzar he points out a few other sights to see while in Heartham.
"There is of course the church, where many of our clerics, monks and even a few crusaders reside. The church itself is simplistic compared to Steadwick's cathedrals, but it is still a sight to see, especially if you venture out to the top of the belltower. The marketplace isn't the busiest anymore since the goblins, though you might want to check out the second-hand stalls there for a bargain or the old shop of magic down the east lane. I bet Ol' man Arvinth would like to have some new company to talk to. Oh and the foundations for the griffin tower are also underway, you might find that interesting as well."
With that John says goodbye and hurries back to the west walls to assume his command again.
John and Marek stay at the inn and inform you that they have arranged your nights to stay at the inn for as long as you ned them. (free of charge)
Marek, though not the usual talkative person says to you all.
"If you want a bit of friendly combat sport, I'd suggest to go to the northern part of town to the makeshift arena. We have some sparring matches there and a small area to joust as well. You might find Lord Midway there as well, if you want to make acquintances with him before dinner."
John looks surprised at Marek's remark and smiles while he orders two ales from the innkeeper.
"We will be at the arena shortly to inquire about a new mission, maybe we'll see you there."

Ye Old Storyteller |

As Nathaniel (and others) approach the smithy of Gerome Hammerblow, they can see smoke billowing up from the four chimneys atop of the building.
Even in front of the shop you can feel the heat emanating from the forges. The rhytmic working of apprentices and senior smiths sounds almost like music. far in the back you manage to distinguish an older man working the steel for an armour you suppose, he is big and burly, going bald but with a big bushy dark-grey beard. His hammer blows are strong and hard, but still with a delicate precision to it.
In the shop there is many standard quality arms and armour, fit for Erathian soldiers and mercenaries. The shop assistant approaches you and says.
"Good afternoon, can I help you with picking out a new set of armour or do you want to test a blade of ours?"

Ye Old Storyteller |

"The clerics at our church have erected an hospital within the church grounds, you should take Nathaniel and Alanor along with you to see their wounds tended to, the Garrocks seem fine just with a few extra scars it seems."
The four Garrocks cheer at John's statement.
As John leaves and Marek and Nathan sit in the tavern the Garrocks are checking out the arena in the northern part of Heartham, the Oakhalls wander around town and the small shops along the way and Alanor and Richard Greythumb spend most of their time at the church grouds.

Ye Old Storyteller |

@Elenzar
The man frowns and seems to contemplate your request. Then finally moves towards the back until you see him stop at the old man's workplace. The hammering stops as the man listens intently an he looks over at you. Shortly after they both return to the front of the shop.
The man looks pretty impressive even for his age, you guess he would be in his mid-60's.
"Welcome to Heartham, young traveler. Arthin has sent you to me eh? How is he and his wife Maggie?"
Elenzar you know Arthin is married to Martha, for a long time already. He could be testing you.

Ye Old Storyteller |

"Aye her cooking is a blessing on this world." says Gerome as he cleans his hands on a cloth at the counter.
"Good to hear Arthin is still doing fine. Now how may I be ye of service, young half-elf?"
At the church of Heartham, Taliesien, Nathaniel and the Greythumbs meet with the healers on the church grounds. A middle-aged man approaches your group as he sees Richard supporting his father.
"Good day, though the look of your wounds suggests otherwise. Come with me, we have a bed ready for the older gentleman. Goblin problems or a freak accident in the invention business?" The man inquires from you as you follow him further onto the grounds.

Elenzar the Bastard |

Elenzar smiles, "I am Elenzar. At your service. Well the local troubles with the mines is what brings us to Heartham. Our immediate concern is salvage. Arthin trusts you so I wanted to give you first crack at our find and if its not something your interested in then I hoped you knew where to send us." With that Elenzar unrolls his bundle of goblin gear 5 suits of leather armor and and 5 maces. "We more if you wish to see. This is David." He motions David to bring his bundle as well.
