The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

We were talking about dragons, you'r not a dragon, and thanks to your theatrical nature everyone knows what you are. :P

Your father and your mate aren't dragons either, but they were on the list... *mock glare*

Oh, I give up...what's going to make this better? Want me to send some groceries your way. I bet Tare is having some pretty strange cravings these days. <innocent grin>

Nah, he's got two rings of sustenance keeping him well-nourished. The cravings he does have you don't get to help with. ;)

2 people marked this as a favorite.

TMI!!!!!Way, way TMI!!!!!!DUDE!!!!!

Next time you make a list of family members, you'll remember me now, won't you?

And you have a dirty, dirty little mind. Though I'll admit not telling what the cravings are probably didn't help. :p

Male Half Orc Druid/Shaman

He chuckles.
"Underground water sources, especially in mountains, benefit from flowing over miles of natural, porous, filtering rock. I'm not too worried about it, but thanks for the heads up. The two that left...Sadie was upset because a former friend of hers had a problem with her sexual preference, and loudly shared it with the rest of us. I had not been elected to lead at the time, and this happened literally within a few minutes of being ported in. Sadie decided to leave, and we let her. The other one followed along out of a sense of justice, I believe. Or maybe a little crush, it's hard to tell. As to the rest...Steve said someone shot light beams at his group, and they defended themselves. I don't believe any of these thigns are insurmountable, and Sadie and Ursula's problem is a personal one, and should not extend to everyone they are associated with."

Image

"Yeah, Sadie and Ursula...I don't really expect that to ever get solved. It'd be nice, but I doubt it's likely. It's the other guy that worries me. I can deal with him if I gotta, but I'd rather not have to worry about it. As far as who is telling the truth and who started it...I don't really care who started it. Getting shot at is one of the risks of scouting enemy territory. From my point of view, even if my people took the first shot, it was on forest territory and they had a reasonable expectation since there was no white flag present that it was a hostile force invading. Ugh. This is so messed up. I don't know whether I should be worrying about school politics or the rules of civilized warfare. Look, this school has a major bullying problem. It's inevitable when you put a bunch of emotionally scarred kids together in one place. Some of them are going to take out their anger and frustration on the people around them and too many of them have decided they like it. This is supposed to be a war game, but too many grudges and bad habits came into the game with us and it worries me. A lot."
"If you are still open to an alliance, then I will gladly accept your offer. We're just going to have to work together to make sure that we don't assign people who can't stand each other to be in the same place. The last thing we need is infighting undermining everything we're working on."

Jiminy, Prankster of the Future wrote:

So... it's like an actually war then? Gee, that couldn't possibly have been the plan...

Male Half Orc Druid/Shaman

"Agreed. If you wish, I can handle the interpersonal stuff, if you manage the war." He extends his hand. "It's nice to actually meet you."

Skivven, one-third of our plans just got put on hold. :/

The military portion of my mind would like to point out that 'inpenetrable' mountain keeps are build on TOP of the mountains, not in the valleys, that's where the squishy farmers and peasants live. Now you know, and knowing is half the battle. Go Joe!

Male Human (Mole Zoanthrope) 16 Monk/Ninja

Steps out of the shadows next to Jiminy, and nods.
::I sense no deception.:: he says to Jiminy.

No, no, you build inpenetrable mountain keeps inside the mountain where it's protected frm both aerial and ground assault. :P

With a disappointed sigh, Skivven dismisses the shadow projection, blinking slowly as he awakens dejectedly.

well, good thing i am not building fortresses then, yes?

After finishing on the border between mountain and forest, Wyrd will move around the kingdom, sealing the most accessible passes first. Once he has the passes blocked, he will work on setting up traps, rockslides, and other interesting hazards on the approaches to the kingdom.

Female human little girl

I hope i can find this place, they said i could get help there. A cauldron fly's around with a man standing in it and a head popping out over its rim of a small form. the man speaks.
*Don't worry miss i am sure this is the right way, Ah there it is over in the distance, Now we can get you the help you wanted. end sentence

she looks up at him and gives him a big smile.
Oh your right, thanks, i am so glad i made you, even if i dont remember it. I hope they can help me find out why i go to sleep sometimes and stuff happens. Like building you or burning things down.... she looks sad when she mentioned the burning things down.

*cheer up miss we are here now. end sentence they land in front of the doors not really knowing what to do next.

the little girl calls out Is any one home, i am looking for help. you help people right. after that she starts to wait for a response, and pulls out her rag doll and starts to play while waiting.

*This is the correct location we were told miss. we will just have to wait. end sentence

the * is the Butler speaking

"It's not often I get people flying in cauldrons around my school." The Headmaster, just a few feet away and watching Kattie. "In any case, welcome to Avalon. I am Headmaster Antairus."

Female human little girl

Oh hi, I did not see you there. i was told you people could helps me. see i get sleepy some times and when i wake up things are made around me like my pot or my friend here. or bad things happen... she says as she pokes her head out of the cauldron.

*I told you we would find the place miss. Glad to meet you Headmaster. I am sure you will be able to help miss Kattie. I am her butler and body guard. Many people have come after her because of her blackouts, and i keep her safe from them and herself while she is blacked out end sentence. the metal man says.

ya that's right, he is my best friend next to annie here.
she holds up a rag doll that looks like it has seen better days.
so can you help me mr. she looks up and gives puppy dog eyes.

"I'm sure we can, Miss Kattie." Ryo replies, smiling gently. "Now why don't you come inside? If you're hungry we can speak in the cafeteria."

"Have you ever tried using whatever it is you do when you aren't blacked out?"

Female human little girl

she gives a thoughtful look as if trying to rememberI think i have but mostly that stuff is people getting lucky or unlucky around me and it makes me laugh, or they go to sleep. I do know how to make my playground though, it takes a lot of writing but it is lots of fun to play there. she giggles at the mention of her playground.

*The miss is referring to a spell i believe is called greater create demiplane, she likes to play there and it is safe for her there. I think food would be a good idea, she has not had something to eat in some time. lead the way Headmaster. end sentence. the cauldron lifts up and hovers following the headmaster as he moves. Kattie and her butler stay inside of it.

"Hmm... I think I know someone who could help, but she's not available until tomorrow. In the meantime, What would you like to eat?" Ryo asks as he opens the door to the cafeteria. "We can have anything you'd like ready and on the table in minutes. You can tell me about your playground while we wait, if you would like too."

Female human little girl

oh oh oh, i want bacon and pancakes, and umm umm a smushed up aple. sure i like talking about my playground. i have lots of toys there, i can jump really high there too. I have other friends like him that live there, but they mostly build things and don't play with me as much, they like to stay in the shop that is in my playground, i think i made them but i don't know. I can show yo... the butlers hand covers her mouth before she can speak anymore. she gives him a mean glare that softens quickly

*the miss does have a lab or workshop in her playground, when she plays she some times blacks out there and starts to build things, the other friends she is talking about are crafter constructs, they build what they are told, and if given orders and power by the one that made them they can even make magical items. At this time there is a sizable stockpile of times at the playground, what they do the miss and i don't know. Sorry to say she was about to invite you in but i can never be too careful about her safety, last person that was invited in tried to steal a few items, lets just say the miss was blacked out and not too happy about it. So once "I" trust someone enough they will have permeation to visit the playground, if only for the safety of that person. end sentence.

Kattie nods quickly, showing her trust in her butler, and she quickly eats the food put in front of her when it arrives trying to feed some of the food to her rag doll. Leaving the speaking to her mechanical friend.

Stockpile of magic stuff is just for flavor, i don't plan on using anything that might exist in it, much like a dragon does not use what is in its hoard, this is a little girl that only knows it is a pile of stuff, and it is only stuff to her.

::Skivven be right there, Skivven brought many supplies with him. Kit is full, and pockets stocked! Skivven not have much paper, though. No, no, to expensive.::

The little Ratfolk crawls out of his nook and scurries after the translucent beetle. His eyes are squinted and his nose twitching rapidly as he follows it through the halls.

"Well, there isn't much I can do about the building while blacked-out part, but we should be able to find out what makes her black-out and figure out a way to stop it from effecting her."

"Kattie, how would you like to meet some of the other children? You would meet them anyway, once the section of the school for younger kids is ready, but there isn't much to do today and they love meeting new kids their own age."

It takes a few twists and turns, but eventually the beetle stops at a room with "Lab" written on the door. Already the smells of an experiment in process can be smelled. The beetle makes a sound like breaking glass and a half-elf with mismatched eyes opens the door a moment later. He pushes his goggles up to his forehead and smiles.

"Skivven, right? My name is Michael, and I'm an alchemist too. Given what I heard over the collective, you've got a set of skills not entirely unlike my own. Between the two of us, I think we could wreak havoc on the other Kingdoms. What do you say, wanna be partners in all things alchemical?"

Female human little girl

The Butler bows down in thanks *thank you Headmaster, I am sure with your schools help she can get better. end sentence.

between mouthfuls of food, kattie says. Other kids, *munch* that would be great *munch* how many are there? are they like me? *munch and spills some food on her cloths* can i see them now?
the butler cleans off her cloths almost as fast as she dirty them, while she talks.

* If we can see them today, lead the way Headmaster. end sentence.

....dragon. By draconic standards I'm basically the equivalent of an elementary school student. Maybe early middle school if we're really pushing it. Mom barely qualifies as a teenager. Thanks to that pesky wishcraft again, my brothers and I count as teenagers...Mom kind of almost qualifies as an adult....and it's not like you're telling twenty-something year old half-elves that they don't count as teenagers. Sheesh. Way to get picky about the details all of a sudden. ;P

20-something year old half-elves aren't teenagers. The Age charts says they are adults at the age of 20, so there! :p

Umm...doesn't the age chart also count humans as adults from the age of like 16? The age chart is a little messed up...

::Well, introduce Chara and Kattie to him when you can.::

"They are on their way now." The Headmaster tells Kattie and her Butler moments before Matthias pushes open the cafeteria doors(which seem to lead to a gym now) and rushes over with his siblings. "This one here is Matthias, his sister Gwenne, and his brother Tal. That one is Chara, she just got here today too."

"Hi!" They Antairus Three say at nearly the same time.

Anyhoo, back to the game already in progress....

Desert stays hidden. Very, very well with that roll of a 99.

Mountain/Forest: 1d100 ⇒ 81

island: 1d100 ⇒ 78

Really? All the lines are straight, the numbers are easy to read, and it stands out clearly... ;P

EDIT: You know, if no one tries to take over another Kingdom, this is going to take a while...

The scouting ships had come to a rocky shore and managed to provoke a response from the inhabitants, but the response turned out to be a little more than they could handle as one of the ships was sunk by a thrown boulder. The survivors swam to the other ship which took out the major portion of their attackers with long ranged spells before retreating back to the island kingdom.

Long story short, everybody's strategy worked. Mountain/Forest used their strategy of defense to minimize losses and discourage invasion, The island kingdom struck out and provoked Mountain/Forest then retreated waiting for their enemies to follow them and nobody can find anything in the Desert kingdom.

"Hi," Chara said cheerfully, watching the new girl with curiosity. "We were skating. Do you like to skate?"

"It's been a while." Raz thought as he started the walk toward Kuros. "How long ago was it that I picked Tamrin's pocket and Ryo caught me?"

That was a day Raz wouldn't forget anytime soon. He'd meekly followed the flying kitten to Ryo's house and nearly tripped over himself when he discovered the small-ish lab. The crush he'd had(and still did to a point) for the ever kindhearted Adsila back then, and for Aananda later that night. He still wasn't sure if either of them knew about it.

But he wasn't going to Kuros to reminisce. Not exactly.

Oh yes, Skivven has many tricks he never gets to try. Skivven can be a big help! Let Skivven show you special things!.

He walks into the lab, pulling out various objects from under his coat and talking excitedly.

Shouldn't the Forest-Mountain Alliance get two checks, since there are two distinct locations to search still?

Skivven wrote:

They do get two search checks. I was making the first check for how effective the teams' overall strategy ends up being. This time everyone was successful. Which just makes this exercise drag out longer since it's supposed to keep going until there's a clear winner. Let's see if Forest/Mountain decides to make a retaliatory strike against Island now. :)

Enre an Islander?

Male Unknown 16 Invulnerable Rager/ 16 Hex Crafter Magus

Yup.

Dang, that's where the character to challenge him ended up.

Female human little girl

Kattie looks at them and has a big smile, she starts to crawl out of the cauldron when her butler picks her up and drops her down on the floor with the other kids.
Hi I'm kattie, this is my friend, and my flying pot, I made them myself she puffs out her little chest in pride. So want to play at all, i almost never get to play with kids my age, lets have some fun she gives a big smile to the other kids.

The butler hovers over to the headmaster while in the cauldron and whispers, *I will make sure she has no bad blackouts, and if she does i am fully stocked to take her to the playground till such time that she is back to her little self. I don't want her to harm others if at all possible, and she would not want it eather. end sentence

earlier i read that the kids had pets that only kids can see, are they still around for Kattie to see, or are then not there at this time? just had to ask.

They are there. To recap, a horned wolf made of fire, a winged lioness that looks like moon and starlight made solid, and a white griffon with eyes like ice.

"I'm sure she'll be fine." Ryo whispers back, nodding towards his children. "If anything, they might be the ones to help her the most. All the children here, teenaged or otherwise, are as good at helping each other as the teachers are. Just a few weeks ago there was a success actual. A girl who everyone kept forgetting. Everyone can remember her now, thanks to a fellow student."

"Hi! We were just skating in the gym, so we could go get you a pair if you want!" Matthias says, smiling at the ever growing group of kids around his age to play with. "It's a little weird learning to move without moving your feet up off the ground, but you'll get used to it."

"Yeah, or we could go get the bubble machine in the garden!" Gwenne suggest. "Then we can bounce around and go down hills and have all kinds of fun exploring the garden and pretending it's a jungle!"
