The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

Enre nods "They are a couple Headmaster. Their names are Basileus, and Lessien. They are mercenaries that only take jobs protecting or helping others. From what I had gathered they have been working together for the last 100 years. They have documentation of all the jobs they have done. They do this so if anyone questions them they have proof. They even use a third party to write and hold the documentation so no one could doubt them." He pauses for a moment before going on "As for their fighting Basileus is a master swordsman who combines his craft with holy magics to protect himself and Lessien. As for Lessien she is a unarmed master who calls on arcane magic to attack swiftly. Another odd thing about them are their races. Basileus is a Demon-spawned Tiefling while Lessien is a Changeling from a Elven father. They understand how hard life can be for people who are different. Is there anything else you would like to know about them Headmaster?"

Sorry was off helping my mother make pies for tomorrow. Basic idea here is Basileus will be cavailer/paladin that I might PrC, while Lessien is a monk/sorceress. He protects and heals while she beats ups and debuffs.

"It sounds like they are perfectly qualified for helping ensure the safety of the school and it's residents. I'd still like to see the documentation though, to make everything official. I have a feeling anything and everything I've done for this school is going to be brought to light." Ryo says gravely.

Enre nods before speaking once more "I can leave now and bring back the them along with their documentation within a few hours. They would come so if you had any question after reading their information."

"You have my leave to go. Vakkler is really the only teacher who might give you trouble about, but he's not going to be in your way if you go in the next few minutes." Ryo says with a weary smile. "Be careful on your way to and from, please, and keep an eye out for trouble headed our way. The townspeople are starting to get violent." As way of explaining, Ryo gestures to the dried blood on his face.

Enre thinks for a moment before saying "I will be-careful, I will also make sure no one in town will see me." He picks up his helmet before leaving the room. Once outside the room he puts his helmet back on before he starts to rush outside. When he gets outside he looks around before heading past the gate of the school. Looking around he finds a quiet place away from people before starting to chant, once finished his chant he disappears.

"I told you there was something about this place. It's getting to my reason somehow." Taron says as he concentrates harder on the flame. "Third door on the left, the one with the broken lion's head handle."

I don't have a very stable emotional state at the moment, and we're in the Corrupter's castle. Think about it.

Fair point, but right now, Jiminy is being the calm in a crisis guy. Cause that's what he does. :)

"Okay. So for now we try to stick together as much as possible. Let's go. I'm guessing the owner has already heard us coming what with the lack of ambient noise in this place."

"You've missed a lot, you know. Although I suppose getting yourself together so you don't join the other team was important too. I don't recall if we've ever been introduced. Name's Keme. Not sure yet if it's a pleasure to meet you or not," he said with a smirk, giving off an obvious Champion aura. Asch can tell this is the Champion of Hope.

She didn't know where she was. She was trapped inside some kind of coccoon. It was sticky and stretchy and she couldn't see anything. She could barely breathe. The worst part was the loneliness. She'd never really been alone before in her life. Her brothers were always there, always connected to her. But now she was totally cut off. And she couldn't get through to Kronos either. She thought she'd been afraid before, but it was nothing compared to this.

Alton, deciding this 'after-party' needs to be really fantastic, starts adding his magic for some sweet visual effects. He's makes fire shoot out of the stage and into the air where it writhes in time to the music like a snake, changing colors with each beat as other, smaller fiery creations soar over the crowd and explode in colorful bursts of light. It is, without a doubt, one of his best performances ever, and it only makes the combination of bands seem that much cooler.

Spellcraft(To get this to work):1d20 + 29 ⇒ (19) + 29 = 48

Spells being used: Prestidigitation, Pyrotechnics, Snapdragon Fireworks, and Major Image.

I'm this close to casting Reverse Gravity and trying to get people to do some aerial disco! :D

"She'll be okay." Kam says, squeezing Taron's shoulder. "Don't do anything stupid, okay?"

"... Yeah." Taron replies, smiling grimly as he opens the door and goes through. "Phebes would never let me hear the end of it."

I didn't realize that the show wasn't over. I'd've stuck around to continue the behind the scenes stuff.

Kitty laughs and claps her hands in delight at the fireworks. Saffire flies up and tries to catch some but backs off startled when he realizes that they're hot.

People have been trickling back in to continue the concert since the bands started playing again to boost morale after the attack. Feel free to have Jim wander back in and take over lighting and such.

The concert is over, but Taron was p*ssed that it got interrupted when everyone need to feel good, and started an 'after concert' to show people that the party doesn't stop because some jerks with a toy dragon decided to try and crash it!

Edit: Ninja'd.

The hallway was dark and dilapidated, changing from a stone tunnel to a natural cavern as they walked along. A cold breeze blew through the hallway. Eventually the hallway led to a large open cavern, the source of the cold wind. There doesn't seem to be any obvious way down and the drop is a long one.

Well, with the exception of the fire(magma?) elemental, we all have a way down, and I'm sure we can get Percy down without much trouble.

Image

"So, uh, Sima, can your winds carry Percy down this thing, or should I get him a parachute?"

Warforged Engineer Alchemist 16/Armiger 16 Champion of Creation

Jim, hearing the music start back up, decides to accompany his classmates, helping with the lights as before. Turning Invisible, he moves into position, and then begins moving the lights accordingly with the show.

Oops, nevermind. Overland Flight is a Bloodling Spell for me.

"Nah, I got him." Kam says as he casts a spell on Percy. "You should be able to fly around now."

The group manages to make it down to the bottom of the cavern safely. But as the reach the bottom a net goes up over them, about twenty feet up in the air and a large group of driders comes skittering out of their hiding places moving to attack/ Something seems not right about these creatures. They aren't dead, but it seems like they have no mental presence either.

Female Half-Elf Sorcerer6/Dragon Disciple 9

Vai struggles to get free of the net, slashing at it with her claws.

What are THOSE things? Vai is horrified at the sight of the driders, half person, half spider. She HATES spiders.

Fieri starts burning the net (carefully) trying to get rid of it by burning away the parts anchoring it to the walls.

"Big bugs need squishing. With extreme prejudice," she added, looking askance at the zombielike driders.

"Prejudice will commence in just a moment..." Kam mutters as he slashes at the webbing with his claws(or normal looking fingers as far as Vai can tell).

Nala laid down on her bed and opened the secret compartment in her headboard that she used to hide her new familiar. After what happened to the last one she didn't dare let anyone find out that she'd found a replacement. The little arctic fox curled up on her pillow next to her head. She smiled.

Image

Jminy pulled out a chainsaw from gods only knew where (the benefits of reality bending) and started hacking at the net.

"This is gonna be fun," he added with a manic grin.

Taron takes a moment to concentrate and finds himself hanging on the outside of the net.

"Those of you with weak stomachs probably shouldn't pay close attention." He says as he leaps across the distance between himself and a drider, punching in the face with a fist that glows purple.

Fuse Flesh, Dc 25 Fort Save

Fuse Flesh(warning, it's long):
You cause the touched subject’s flesh to ripple, grow
together, and fuse into a nearly seamless whole. The
subject is forced into a fetal position (if humanoid),
with only the vaguest outline of its folded arms and
legs visible below the all-encompassing wave of flesh.
The subject retains the ability to breathe, eat, and
excrete, but may lose the use of its senses (see below).
If the sudden transformation would prove fatal
to the creature (such as fusing a swimming
air-breathing subject, or a flying subject), the
subject gets a +4 bonus on the save. Unless
it loses the use of its senses (see below), the
creature can still perform purely mental actions,
such as manifesting powers.
If the target fails its Fortitude save to avoid
the power’s effect, the subject must immediately
attempt a second Fortitude save. If this second
save is failed, the creature’s eyes and ears
fuse over, effectively blinding and deafening
it. Moreover, it loses its extraordinary,
supernatural, and spell-like abilities, as well
as its ability to manifest powers (if any), and
is generally in sorry shape.
Incorporeal or gaseous creatures and
creatures not composed of flesh are immune
to fuse flesh, and a shapechanger can revert
to its unfused form as a standard action.

Fort save: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21

The drider that Taron punched is fused into a fleshy ball totally unable to move.

The remaining driders strike out at those still working on dealing with the net.

Attack: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (11) + 18 = 29
1d20 + 18 ⇒ (15) + 18 = 33
If either of those hit it's a Fort save DC18 vs poison for those few here who aren't imune to poison.

Also, each of you (except Taron) are being attacked by a single drider making two attacks, but since they're all being controlled by the same puppeteer, it's the same attack rolls for each of them.

Female Half-Elf Sorcerer6/Dragon Disciple 9

Vai's AC is 14 I think. Fort Save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14

Vai breathes hard as the poison floods her system. Still paralyzed with fear at the spiders, Vai is beginning to panic.

Percy immediately lunges over to Vai, flooding her body with healing magic. His boulder-sized hand pats her head with surprising gentleness. "There, now. Stay calm. Breathe in, breathe out, you'll be fine."

Does Cure Light cure poison? Can't recall. Anyway, he'll cast whatever's needed.

ETA: Ah, thank you. Percy will cast Neutralize Poison.

Cure Light won't take care of poison. Neutralize poison is needed here.

Also the poison does 1d6 ⇒ 2 Dex damage. The damage from the actual wounds is very little.

Cure Light does nothing for poison. Neutralize Poison, on the other hand, does.

Edit: Ninja'd

F Sylph

Fort save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11

"Ouch! Grrrrrrrr!" Uncharacteristically, Nasima reacts to the wound by planting her feet in a solid hung gar stance, hands in claws. Her eyes begin glowing blue-white and she launches a single strike forward at the drider, a massive lightning bolt jetting crazily out from her palms and hammering into the thing.

good ol' Lightning Bolt, DC20 Reflex half:
10d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 2, 2, 5, 5, 6, 4, 6, 6) = 43

The drider goes limp as it is pummeled by Nasima's lightning.

"Well, this is no fun," a shrill voice said from somewhere up above. "These toys are too weak. You'll just have to take their place."

"I AM..."

F Sylph

"...NO TOY!"

F Sylph

Nasima looks up for the source of the voice, her mouth curled up into a hateful sneer.

Thin threads start detaching themselves from the driders who collapse limply to the ground a vacant look on their faces. The threads start whipping around blindly searching for someone to attach to.

DC 20 Reflex save, followed by a DC 20 Will save if they hit. Krays and Nasima are immune to the mental control even if they get hit. Krays because he's a Champion and Nasima cause somebody already got there first. ;P

Also Perception check DC 38 to find the source of the voice.

Female Half-Elf Sorcerer6/Dragon Disciple 9

Relfex Save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Will Save: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20

Vai feels something trying to take over her mind, just as Aegythrax had once before, and shouts "NO! NEVER AGAIN!" and fires blindly into the dark with her breath weapon, a bolt of lightning.

We'll say 5% chance to hit? 5 or below?
1d100 ⇒ 73

LOL!

"ooh, feisty, I like feisty," the voice chuckled madly from the shadows.

"Toys huh?" Taron growls. "Okay, let's play a game."

Eyes glowing like miniature purple suns while mist seems to peel off of him, Taron calls forth anger incarnate. This particular phthisic is dark blue and seems particularly built for speed and lethality.

"My toys against yours, round one..."

Jiminy:
Through your link with him, and just by knowing Taron all your life, you can tell that Taron is using a lot more power than he has ever had before.

"You just don't have any luck with trying to eat hot things, are you?" Michael laughs as reaches out to scratch Saffire comfortingly. "You know, Kitty, if I could make familiars as cool as this show(Saffire's still awesome of course), we could have the shop paid for and start getting the word out in a matter of weeks."

Perception DC 38 to find the guy.

The phthisic bounds forward looking for the puppeteer.

She laughed. "Oh, that would be wonderful. But sadly I don't think either of us are quite ready for that yet. But we will be. Maybe as soon as another few months...well, and then we'll have to worry about all the practical stuff....but we'll definitely make it happen," she said, all smiles as she danced around him.

Seeing the strange thread-things come flopping down, Nasima sits in lotus position on the floor and begins a deep-breathing exercise. Thunder booms, then dopplers around the distance. Clouds begin forming, gethering, thickening in the weird cavernous space the group is in. The clouds drift up, rumbling constantly. A fork of lightning lashes out across clouds and anchors itself onto Nasima, causing the sylph to momentarily become see-through and illuminating the entire area with brilliant light for a split second.

As the storm ascends, the lightning grows thicker, the thunder louder. Nasima's breathing does not change.

Then, as if on cue, a massive storm breaks out. A dense, pouring, soaking rain smashes down on the lifeless driders and the students alike. A near constant fusillade of lightning hammers the walls, ceiling (if there is one), everything in the upper reaches of this cavern, bathing it in a strobed bright light, hopefully providing the other students with some perspective and maybe, just maybe, hitting their invisible would-be "puppetmaster".

Nice. Nasima has just provided a +15 on Perception checks to spot the puppetmaster.

"Ooh, this isn't fun...Well, it looks like I need better dolls since none of you will play with me..."

Two massive earth elementals step away from the rock and move to attack the phthisic.

They're slow so it'll take them another round before they can attack.
