The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

Male Kobold (Adult Black dragon) Gestalt Sorceror/Oracle Necromancer; Champion of Death

DUnno how often ill be able to post this week! Busy as hell at work. Feel free to NPC krays, if needed

With a low growl, Dark Blue leaps at the nearest earth elemental and attacks in a frenzy

Claw:1d20 + 15 ⇒ (4) + 15 = 19
Claw:1d20 + 15 ⇒ (1) + 15 = 16
Bite:1d20 + 15 ⇒ (8) + 15 = 23

If those hit.

Claw:1d6 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12 plus 1d4 ⇒ 2 Intelligence damage.
Claw:1d6 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13 plus 1d4 ⇒ 2 Intelligence damage.
Bite:1d6 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11 plus 1d4 ⇒ 1 Intelligence damage.

While his phthisic goes on the attack, Taron scans the area for the puppeteer.[/ooc]
Perception:1d20 + 18 + 15 ⇒ (8) + 18 + 15 = 41

"Maybe you just need to join the fun yourself." [i]Taron replies as a crystal forms in his hand. It pulses with power as he throws it at the puppeteer.

Crystal Shard(ranged touch)1d20 + 15 ⇒ (1) + 15 = 16
Piercing Damage:16d6 + 2 ⇒ (3, 2, 1, 1, 3, 5, 1, 1, 6, 1, 2, 2, 1, 3, 1, 4) + 2 = 39

Crap.

She laughed. "Oh, that would be wonderful. But sadly I don't think either of us are quite ready for that yet. But we will be. Maybe as soon as another few months...well, and then we'll have to worry about all the practical stuff....but we'll definitely make it happen," she said, all smiles as she danced around him.

"There was never a doubt in my mind." Michael replies as he 'dances' along with Kitty, making an absolute fool of himself.

The phthisic is not having much luck against the earth elementals, but the crystal shard hits the puppeteer disrupting his camouflage and rendering him visible.

"You brat!" he shrieks, outraged.

The elementals move to attack the phthisic.

1d20 + 26 ⇒ (13) + 26 = 39
1d20 + 26 ⇒ (4) + 26 = 30
1d20 + 26 ⇒ (2) + 26 = 28
1d20 + 26 ⇒ (18) + 26 = 44

Damage for any that hit:
2d10 + 12 ⇒ (5, 4) + 12 = 21
2d10 + 12 ⇒ (6, 2) + 12 = 20
2d10 + 12 ⇒ (6, 8) + 12 = 26
2d10 + 12 ⇒ (5, 7) + 12 = 24

Female Half-Elf Sorcerer6/Dragon Disciple 9

Now that she has a target, Vai unleashes another breath weapon, her features suddenly growing draconic. Claws, teeth and wings sprout seemingly instantly. She roars as the lightning bolt erupts from her lungs, and afterwards shouts, speaking in Draconic though she doesn't realize it:

Draconic:
"Give her back!"

Breath Weapon Reflex DC: 21 for half:
15d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 5, 4, 5, 5, 4, 1, 1, 6, 6, 5, 3, 5, 4) = 61

Is the breath weapon aimed at the elementals or the puppeteer?

Lyn, I missed because I rolled a one.

Female Half-Elf Sorcerer6/Dragon Disciple 9

Aimed at the puppeteer, sorry.

Taron Sunwake wrote:

Whoops. I missed that since I was in a hurry and just looked at the final number. Okay, then the puppeteer isn't visible yet. I'm gonna redirect Vai's attack to be against the elementals. Which will still give you something pretty useful. :)

As Vai's breath weapon slams into the elementals their eyes go blank and they slump over. It seems that electricity interferes with the puppeteer's ability to control his 'toys'.

Perception: 1d20 + 10 + 15 ⇒ (2) + 10 + 15 = 27

Nasima remains calm and focused, oblivious to her immediate surroundings. She maintains the storm, and the lightning, and the light, hoping to give her friends any advantage she can. Though her eyes are in the storm as well as on the ground, splitting her vision and attention like this is still too new for her to really know how to use the ability, and as such she is unable to spot the puppeteer. She is also utterly unable to defend herself, which is part of why Percy is hovering nervously by her, not ten feet away.

She can only keep this up for a few rounds

"Electricity? Things just got that much easier." Kam replies as he cuts his way out of the webbing. "Let's bring this guy down and get moving."

Perception:1d20 + 18 + 15 ⇒ (9) + 18 + 15 = 42

"Ah, this is easy. Thanks for the help with the light Nasima." [i]He begins to chant quickly, gesturing to the puppeteer. Shackles made of pure force erupt from the ground around the puppeteer and try to latch on to wrists and ankles.[/ooc]

Leashed Shackles. Dc 20 Reflex negates.

Reflex save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18

The puppeteer shrieks with fear as the shackles bind him, struggling against them to the best of his ability, but without success.

"The bidding is going well?"

*pause*

"Good. Wrap it up in the next half hour. I don't think she'll last much longer than that in the coccoon and you know how cranky people get about receiving damaged merchandise."

*pause*

"Very good. I'll be in touch."

Against Driders, Dark Blue's area of expertise would have been useful against their soft flesh. Against Earth Elementals? Not so much. It lashes out with a claw one last time before it's pummeled back into mist.

Claw:1d20 + 15 ⇒ (16) + 15 = 31
Damage:1d6 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13
Intelligence Damage:1d4 ⇒ 1

Taron holds his head in one hand as the mist returns to him, one eye closed against the pain Dark Blue had felt. His open eye flaring with power, Taron mentally creates a fiery explosion at the puppeteer's feet.

Wild Surging Energy Ball(Fire):16d6 + 16 ⇒ (2, 2, 2, 6, 1, 3, 6, 6, 4, 6, 6, 4, 1, 2, 1, 3) + 16 = 71
Dc 21 Reflex Save for half

Psychic Enervation:1d100 ⇒ 17

Reflex save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12

The puppeteer tries to scramble away from the blast, but can't due to the chains holding him in place. He screams one last time before going limp, weeping loudly.

Kam flies over to Taron quickly, standing in front of him.

"We've got him beat, Taron. Calm down." He turns to the puppeteer. "Call off your 'toys' now."

"Not fair, not fair," the puppeteer wailed. "No fun. No one wants to play. Master said. Master said had to stop any rescues so he could buy the pretty girl. Master is going to kill me. No more fun any more ever. Waaaaaah!"

"I have a feeling we may have to deal with your Master.." Taron mutters. "More people might want to play if you didn't try to kill them with your toys."

"Let's go, we've wasted enough time here." Taron says to the others as he slides down the wall to the bottom of the chasm. He concentrates on Ephebe's fire once he's down ther to make sure they're stilling going the right way.

Taron can just barely find Ephebe's fire. It seems to be dimming. There is a small passage leading out of the cavern back into more tunnels. Krays in kobold form is the only one who can move through them comfortably. The rest have to squeeze, and it's downright uncomfortable for Percy.

So... we can move through stone and earth, just not metals, right? :D

Taron Sunwake wrote:

Worked metals are the problem. If there's a vein of unworked ore in the rock it poses no impediment.

Then it's time to split the party! ;)

"Hurry!" Taron says as he runs straight into the rock, passing through it easily as he rushes to save his sister.

Monk speed has never been more useful to me.

"Okay, so I'm gonna do something now in order to prevent my big brother from facing the evil bad guy all alone, and also because none of the rest of us have any idea where to go without him leading us, but afterwards I'm pretty much not gonna be much good in a fight. Fair warning," Jiminy says as he bends reality to allow the rest of the party to use earth glide temporarily.

"Don't just stand here, follow him," he said, swaying slightly before Fieri put his arm around her shoulders so she could hold him upright.

Yeah, it's not like you couldn't have just followed me through our bond or anything... I mean, seriously, what is the point of that thing anyway? ;p

Alone, sure, but you're going in a different direction than the tunnel. And he has to bring the whole rest of the group along. Also, it's a good thing I don't flesh out encounters very well beforehand since you're skipping like three of them this way. :)

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I would like to take a moment to point out that you were were the one who decided to introduce giant purple lizards with the ability to go through rock like it was air to Agartha.

Okay, moment over.

Yeah, yeah, go and be all logical about it and everything. ;P

OMG...lookit what I missed...do I owe anyone any saving throws?
Krays goes ethereal with a growl, and follwos Taron.

No, you're good. The only saves you would have had to make were against mental control from the puppeteer and you're immune anyways even if you got hit with one of the threads. It counts as a Madness effect. Doesn't work on Champions.

Krays follows closely after Taron, though not quite as fast.

At least that's my assumption about the speed since Taron has speed bonuses from monk levels. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Male Kobold (Adult Black dragon) Gestalt Sorceror/Oracle Necromancer; Champion of Death

no you're right, he'd have to shift into dragon form and fly to keep up with taron..

::Taron! Slow down or I'll loose you!::

Female Half-Elf Sorcerer6/Dragon Disciple 9

Vai, now free of the net, leaps forward after Taron, flapping her wings hard, sliding through the earth as if it were air. A very strange sensation.

Vai is able to keep up with Taron at full speed (fly speed is 90ft), but earth glide doesn't grant vision through these things, and so Vai is basically flying blind.

70ft in one round.

::The flame's almost out though! That means she's almost dead!::

It occurs to me that Aananda is going to be disappointed that Kam couldn't keep Taron from doing something stupid.

"Percy, help me with Jiminy. We need to move quickly to catch up."

Male Kobold (Adult Black dragon) Gestalt Sorceror/Oracle Necromancer; Champion of Death

Krays will switch to life sight, and hope he can see taron's life force as he moves through the rock...

Taron bursts out of the rock into a large circular chamber. The first thing he sees is a large table with an enormous coccoon on it. What little fire he can still sense is coming from inside the coccoon. To the side of it, a man lounges on a chair looking bored. He turns around and sees Taron and smiles.

"And here I thought I'd be bored while I waited for the results of the auction."

Krays can sense a dim light moving ahead of him the rock making it very difficult to see that far ahead.

"You know nothing of boredom." Taron replies cooly. "Now about the person on the auction block... how hard is it going to be to take the cocoon and open it?"

Taron Sunwake wrote:

"Oh, I'd say almost impossible. Since I have no intention of letting you interfere. And she's only got a few minutes left before it starts to do permanant damage."

Male Kobold (Adult Black dragon) Gestalt Sorceror/Oracle Necromancer; Champion of Death

Krays will head in a straight line in that direction then, emerging from the stone when appropriate...

Male Human (Mole Zoanthrope) 16 Monk/Ninja

Also, let me know when it's time for Ryuzo and Nalas lunch date...I've lost all track of time in game...

Ryuzo Kato wrote:

In game not much time has passed. It's been a couple of hours since Ephebe has been snatched and the after concert is probably going to wrap up soon.

Krays comes out of the rock into the chamber just as the mysterious man is saying that Ephebe only has a few minutes before the cocoon starts to do permanent damage.

Female Half-Elf Sorcerer6/Dragon Disciple 9

Vai arrives promptly as well, assuming Taron went in a straight line.

Vai arrives about a second after Krays does.

"Heh. A whole group of children to entertain me while I wait. I'm so very fortunate."

"Well then... let's aim to please and shoot to kill." Taron says as Ammy becomes Taron's Psicaster and three crystals shoot toward the Corrupter.

One nice little function of Ammy in his Psicrystal(Pistol) mode if he let's me full attack with powers!

Crystal Shard:1d20 + 15 ⇒ (12) + 15 = 27
Damage:5d6 + 2 ⇒ (5, 2, 2, 6, 4) + 2 = 21
Crystal Shard:1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
Damage:5d6 + 2 ⇒ (5, 5, 3, 6, 3) + 2 = 24
Crystal Shard:1d20 + 15 ⇒ (4) + 15 = 19
Damage:5d6 + 2 ⇒ (4, 2, 6, 2, 5) + 2 = 21

"Has anyone ever told you that you're a terrible shot?" he asked, amused as he dodged the crystals easily.

"And you lose your temper so very easily."

Nasima slowly seeps into the room as a low fog. Her voice coming from everywhere and nowhere at once, she asks "Okay, so who are you? Ephebe's our friend and we're not gonna let you do this. I mean, you're doing this to a kid you total creep! Gross!"

(to Fieri) "Of course, my friend. Anything I can do to assist. Should...should I follow them all to wherever they're going, or are we just staying here with this one?"

Obviously a magma elemental can earth glide no problem. Just slowly.
