The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

Ah. Alright then.

Very Creepy... awesome spell...

Lipstitch:

School necromancy; Level sorcerer/wizard 2, witch 2

CASTING
Casting Time 1 standard action
Components S, M (a bone needle and sinew thread)

EFFECT
Range close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)
Target one creature
Duration instantaneous
Saving Throw Fort negates; Spell Resistance yes

DESCRIPTION
A rare spell without verbal components, lipstitch sews the target’s lips tightly together if it fails a saving throw, such that no clear speech, bite attacks, spellcasting, or use of command words is possible. The target takes 1d6 points of damage as the stitches weave through flesh. The victim can still make enough noise to be heard at a distance with a DC 10 Perception check.

The thread created by lipstitch can be burst with a DC 20 Strength check as a standard action or can be sliced open with a piercing or slashing weapon (wielded by the target or an ally) as a full-round action. Cutting the thread provokes attacks of opportunity, while making a Strength check does not. Either option causes 1d6 points of damage and 1 point of bleed damage. The target has a 20% chance of failing to cast spells with verbal components until the bleeding is stopped. The effects of multiple castings of this spell do not stack. Optionally, the thread can be removed more carefully over the course of a minute with a DC 20 Heal check. If the check fails, the target takes damage and bleeds as described above. If the check succeeds, the stitches are removed with no harm. Creatures with no mouths are unaffected by lipstitch. Creatures with multiple mouths lose the use of only one mouth per casting—the particular mouth is chosen by the caster.

Yep. The secondary mind is limited to purely mental actions, but manifesting is purely mental. :)

Male Drow (noble) 14 Ranger

An immediate action takes up your swift for the next round.

I found a monster that did that to liars. I'll look for it again.

EDIT: Sutureflies. Far as I can tell they completely ignore damage reduyction too . Yay, (Su) abilities!

Creepy...

I want a summon spell of those....

Shadow Lodge

Spell? Pfft, its the right power level for a familar!

And, as they are insects...

Great for Triad leader Hive.

Imagine a swarm....

Shadow Lodge

Imagine sentience!

A swarm of those kind of makes me think of Stein.
They attack something and cover it in stitches so it can't move. Almost like spiders+wasps.

Shadow Lodge

Stein didn't sew orifices shut.

He sewed other things, though.
I mean a swarm of them, there's only two eyes, a mouth, nose, possibly ears, they'd probably just start putting fingers and limbs together and it would make them immobile like Stein did to Medusa.

Shadow Lodge

It does say variants exist. A swarm that 'apprehends' criminals could exist.

This sounds like an interesting character idea, make a worm that walks made out of these guys
For class I'd think Inquisitor as the primary
Not sure about the secondary, maybe cleric/sphere walker or paladin (or antipaladin)/hellknight
Question is, if teacher what would they teach...
If student what would they learn...
If antagonist, what drives them to antagonize...

Shadow Lodge

The Worm that Walks concept is actually in the game, hehe...

Nw, for an antagonist? Someone lied to that died as a result of the lie and held such hatred toward the lier that, when they landed on his corpse, the sutureflies took his spirit in order to go do some sewing.

Ugh, so sick. I have some kind of stomach bug. And still have to go to classes. :(
I went to bed super early last night and it still didn't help.
Anyways, won't really get to updating game until (hopefully) tonight. My apologies to anyone that I'm keeping waiting.

Also, DB3, waiting on Ryo's response to Nala.

MD, I would rather not have you bring your brand new character into town right now. There is a good chance that he would be killed and turned into a part of the collective at the moment which would be pretty crappy, but I'm not pulling punches on this one. Plus, this scene has been dragging on already due to my lack of time so adding more into it now is not really fair to the people who have been really patient with it thus far.

I can send in a gargoyle to intercept him if you want.
He starts to town, but as the school knows it's under attack, it gets sent to get him before he gets hurt.
I mean, we know about him, he got the letter.

*hope you feel better soon, BTW, Lyn. :)

I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit.

It's the only way to be sure.

That's what the gargoyle is. Think Hunch Back of Notre Dame.

He comes to pick you up, literally if you want since you're tiny, and takes you to the school.

Male Icy Catfolk Image Warlock/Rogue 16

I found a cat that has Tybalt's fur pattern.

After playing as her some in Marvel's Avenger's Alliance, I have decided I want to make a PC akin to Nico Minoru

Suggestions and advice welcome.

Shadow Lodge

Male. Vaguely humanoid Ninja 3/Bard 1/Ranger 2/Scholar 1

hmm tricky, seeing as she can't cast the same spell more than once...

Male Weremonkey Rogue/Ranger/Trickster

I'm thinking that limitation may only apply to her crazy spells cast via her Staff, since she eventually learns to cast spells without it.

Also, it could be just a specific version of an incantation, but the effects can be duplicated, or at least close enough.

Finally I was considering, for the game, making it a 1/day limitation.

Shadow Lodge

Ooh, the Runaways? Yeah, I'd keep her 'no more than once' limitation, since her spells in this game would be pretty free form. Plus, it's just added fun! Use it twice, roll on the Primal Magic event charts!

Depending on timing, Morire may miss most of the other kids at the school. Lang and co. leaveing soon.

He may catch a glimpse of them taking off.

Also Ephebe is the headmaster for the elementary aged kids and she is going with Lang.

Hmmmm.... Well Ephebe will be slightly confused when she comes back...

the elementary age is up to 13 (or equivalent) I believe.

Female awww, but that would be telling unknown
MisterLurch wrote:

Through 12 (to 13). If someone is 13 when they arrive at the school they would be put in the older classes, but if someone is 12 when they arrive they would stay in the elementary class through the end of the school year even if they turn 13 partway through. The one exception to that is if they're only like a month or less from turning 13 they'd be sent to the older classes. The youngest students are 4. (Tarka doesn't count for this because I'm using base human ages and her racial equivalent is more like 6.) Ephebe would like to add a preschool class at some point, but that requires more teachers and she's already short-handed.

Female awww, but that would be telling unknown

Looks like an interesting concept, MG. I'm good with it, but I agree with DB3 about keeping the restriction of casting a spell once.

Female awww, but that would be telling unknown

Also, I still feel like crap, so I apologize in advance if I don't get many posts up and/or miss someone's post.

Not really. I'll just have Pyra handle the enrollment. Just more paperwork for Ephebe when she gets back. Morire may be confused since it'll mean he has a sub on his first day of class and like half the class will be missing. Zilla, Ignace, Chara, Dara, Gareth, and Vriskra are all staying at the school as far as I know. Lang, Midori, Grim, Sorun, Sara, and Hew are all going on a bit of a field trip.

You just worry about you. We're all sufficiently evolved to be self-sufficient. I think.

Male I am a meat Popsicle

what is the age equivalent for a kitsune of 68?

Shadow Lodge

Male. Vaguely humanoid Ninja 3/Bard 1/Ranger 2/Scholar 1

Normal pathfinder kitsune a or the setting specific kitsune

MisterLurch wrote:

Could you break down the kitsune age categories for me please? It would help answer that question. Keme is kind of a freak of nature as he is legitimately still a teen. He is advanced for his age in more than just abilities.

Male I am a meat Popsicle

1 tail is 1 to 100 years
3-4 tails is 101 to 300 years
5-8 tails is 301 to 600 years
9 tails is 601+ years

it doesn't really give maturity categories in conjunction with those guidelines.

This reminds me of hunters from the Halo games. Creatures that were actually colonies of orange worms. Real tough guys too.

Male Drow (noble) 14 Ranger

Hmmm...
The number of tails doesn't necessarily have to reflect the actual age...
It's just that the more power they have, the more tails there are, and getting that much power usually takes a while...

Keme is incredibly young to have 5 tails, but it's not impossible.

I probably should have just left the age coorelation off of it entirely...
You could have a 600 year old kitsune with only 2 tails if they weren't very ambitious, or a 200 year old kitsue with 5 if they were...
