Kinda funny you mentioned that. We actually had a player quit the game (not in the best terms)because of that. He thought it was boring to play out normal events like that.
lynora
Funny isn't the word that comes to mind really. :/
In one of those bits of not really irony, all the stuff he was waiting for happened right after he left. But I'm sure that wouldn't have been done right by his standards either. :/
He pretty much reamed me out about every aspect of the game via PM before I blocked him. I'd had some bad experiences before that, and some of them we even made up later. But this bridge wasn't just burned, it was nuked from orbit.
lynora
Anyways....for the guys in town: I really didn't have anything planned in town at this juncture. Umm...Hellboy and a kitsune are setting up a pool table on the lawn. Uhh...there's a chance to have a run-in with a very 'hot' runaway if you happen to head back to the school at the right time. Umm...I think Sam and Rena are wandering around town? Actually I'm a little confused on their location at the moment.
I've got a lot of resources tied up in other locations. I can see what I can cook up for you...where exactly are you going?
GM Fireclaw
It's Ms. Soleil.
Maybe Ardiente's new crush. We'll see. Hahaha
Tybalt Baneko
Lyn, you got a pm from me, although it doesn't really have anything to do with the game.
Tybalt Baneko
What do you mean "proper?" Am I not good enough for you? >:(
This is entirely a joke. I know why it can't be atm. :)

ICly-- you make clothing, that's it.
How are any of my characters to know that your teleporting, ice/frost manipulating, rogue talented, crazy tailor skilled, age reducing, infinite pockets, vulnerable to fire, feline character is capable of also making magic items?
You answer me that, and then perhaps I'll adjust my use of "proper".
:winks:
Roel
Naw... I'm sure the school has a stock of magic items just for cases like this - after all, Rena isn't the first would-be student to lack hands *glance at Viskra*.
Was just looking to include people if they wanted to. Otherwise, feel free to respond Damiani.
I has psodpods.
Damiani
Hats are clothing. . . . :P
Well, when /I/ think of a Tailor? I think of body worn items, not head pieces.
Nor do I think of 'jewelry' stuff from tailors.
When I think of a Magic Item maker? I don't think of tailors-- I think of a Wizard, usually.
Now, what Tryko'Sam thinks of in regards to those things-- completely different, he doesn't. He figures find a shop, or as he did, asked how that works out.
See the logic? :)

Good job Fireclaw
Raelle don't /want/ none of this fire, so I'ma give it to some other lady.
;D
I don't know about that...are you sure you're man enough for me? ;)
Where Raelle is sweet and innocent, Asha is all kinds of trouble ;P

Well I'm out on the lake just thinking about the happenings during the day.
My young characters are currently in the infirmary, but I could have Zilla leave for a while she's been in there a while just sitting with the other.
Also if you join a conversation I'm in and I don't respond to you I might have missed it so just drop me a PM. I try to watch from others joining in but I miss a lot.
But yah Dom is open to RPed with and he's noticeable, being he's standing in the middle of the lake.
Dom Waverider
pretty much. Just no waves. He would have more fun with that. :(

Decided to start watching Jackie Chan Adventures tonight, and thought it might be fun to try and figure out how to make a character that possessed the combined powers of the 12 talismans. Mostly for fun, as I don't know if such a character would even be accepted.
Figure some levels in Sorc. Beyond that, no idea.
Again, this isn't necessarily a serious potential character, but I would like to see what we can come up with.

well monk would also be of help, to simulate rabbit,
but the boars's strength (or whichever one it was that boosted str) and enlarge person on your spell list,
put invisibility on your list to simulate snake
put the beast shape ones to simulate monkey
scorching ray and ray of fire (essentially fire ray of frost), re-flavored to come from your eyes
animate objects for rat
levitate & fly for rooster
a few fire spells for dragon

So, I finished the Last Airbender and started Korra.
I like alot about Korra, though it was kinda weird at first that it was set in the 1920s (with an added dose of Communism just for fun!), but then I really got into it. I'm only three episodes in... but those three episodes having been fantastic.
Also, I have a rant about the ending to the Last Airbender but I'll save it for now because I'm too busy. XD
lynora
I am curious to find out how much it has in common with my rant about the ending. :)
I've only seen one episode of Korra...I really need to watch it. I even liked it. I just haven't gotten around to it since my DVR messed up the recordings (right before it died and had to be replaced....yeah, I have certain issues with electronics)

Alright, so first of all... what the heck is the big deal with Aang suddenly being reluctant to kill people? As if he's never done it before! I realize there's a difference between fighting in a battle and going to specifically assassinate one guy, but come on, really?! Do we really need to spend 3 episodes on that?! I mean, Aang has probably killed dozens if not /hundreds/ of people by this point in the story, and hasn't felt bad about it even though they were peons. Now he wants to go to the big bad and /not/ kill him? The one who has been giving the orders? GAH!
Second of all, Azala! She was like my third favourite character! She's supposed to be this independant, cold, calculating badass who needs no one but herself. She gets betrayed ONCE, and she goes insane? What the hell? Seriously, she's not /that/ emotionally fragile that one betrayal ought to do her in. That really bugged me.
Third of all! Way to pull a Deus Ex Outta NOWHERE in Energybending to make it so that Aang /doesn't/ have to kill Ozai. Energybending isn't even /hinted/ at. It almost seems like something the execs in charge were like "What? The 12-13 year old is going to assassinate someone? No no no. Fix it so that he doesn't have to." GAH!
Finally! We needed to see more White Lotus badassery. Cause that was awesome. Also... it just kinda left the General Iroh thing out in the dark. Yeah.. he worked out and busted himself outta jail... but what? He's in like 5 minutes of the show after that! Disapointing!
lynora
Nope, different rant.....
Okay, so the not killing Ozai thing was WTF. And energybending is...the avatar needed to be MORE powerful? Really?
Azula was always mentally unstable....there were clues to that all along so that was at least a little bit believable. But the cliffhanger ending of a freaking series with the mystery about Zuko and Azula's mom was just...aaaagh!
And we really needed a romantic ending to a series whose main character is maybe 13????! Really? Bleh! And this is from someone who loves a happy ending. That was just....wrong. It felt forced at best.
Totally agree about the white lotus thing though. Those guys deserved more screentime and could have definitely done with less time for the Aang vs Ozai fight. I remember thinking at several points: Would you two just stop talking each other to death and get on with it already?
FireclawDrake
Yeah, honestly all the lovey dove stuff between Aang and Katara felt a bit forced to me. I think they made a mistake making Aang 12. It would've been better if he had been... 14-15ish at the start. Then at least puberty could've actually kicked in.
Re Zuko's Mom: they've already hinted in Korea that they'll be exploring that more. I wonder if Zuko is still alive...
Lang Fei
glad people are watching to better understand Lang, of course I play him quite a bit different that the series. especially since there are dragons and wizards and psions and stuff in this world that just don't exist in the series.
Also Lang is Not the last of his people. in fact he is home right now visiting his family in game.
I want to capture the feel of the series without throwing off the balance of the game.
also just to answer a bit about the rants.
not disagreeing as there were enough about the series to have flaws.
but I read somewhere that the series ending was supposed to be like 3 years after his awakening in episode 1 which would put Aang at 15 at the end of the series. but I cannot confirm this.
also yes the ending of both the last airbender and Korra were both a forced ending. Korra was a bit rushed toward the end.
and I believe the story of Zuko's mom is explained in the comic series which picks up at the end of the series. but I never read them so I don't know for certain.
Monkeygod
I have not read them either, but I saw in Barnes and Noble a graphic that I believe is Zuko's quest to go find his mother. Pretty sure Iroh goes with him.
And I 1000% agree that there needed to be more White Lotus stuff.
Also:
Really FCD? Aang showed reluctance to killing/harming people throughout the whole series. Air Benders are all pacifists.
Not only that, but there's a big difference between killing somebody in battle, and assassinating him in cold blood. Which was the plan at one point.
So, yea, he definitely had that weighing on his mind. Besides the fact that Ozai was his best friend's father, which they never really say, but you know was a part of that decision.
FireclawDrake
Aang may have showed reluctance, but he was never contrite about those he had to hurt/kill. Hell, at the defense of the North Pole, Aang says he destroyed something like 17 fire nation battleships, and didn't seem the least bit sorry for it. What about the crews of those battleships? Probably all dead - drowned. He doesn't seem to struggle with it /at all/ until the end of the series... when suddenly his conscience won't let him kill a man about to commit genocide.
Airbenders may be pacifists (very Tibetan buddhist in philosophy), and Aang may have /said/ throughout the series that he was adverse to hurting and killing people, his actions spoke otherwise. Which is why I was so bothered by that at the end.
And.. the intent might have been the assassinate Ozai, but the plan seemed more of a confrontation type idea. Similar to an Agni Kai. It was to be a challenge, not an assassination.

I've been watching this show for several days again.
Rat = Animate Object
Ox = Bull's Strength
Tiger = Similucrum
Rabbit = Haste
Dragon = Searing Light? Disintegrate?
Snake = Greater/Superior Invisibility
Horse = Heal, granted over a few rounds in some cases
Sheep: I know there's a spell that does this.
Monkey = Polymorph Any Object(to animals only)
Rooster = Levitate/Telekinesis
Dog = There's a third party tempkate(Eternnal, I think) that does this.
Pig = Scorching Ray
Dom Waverider
The white lotus was amazing and I agree that I wanted to see them more, but it would have taken away from the main characters.
Tybalt Baneko
I kinda think having all the talismans at once would be kinda overly powerful even by these standards. One of the major points of the show that kept it balanced was that they never really had more than one or two of the talismans at a time. They were always stored somewhere safe. Or at the top of an office building, but that's beside the point.
Thing is. Immortality and indestructibility, super sonic flight, disentigrate, total invis, total healing, shape shifting. That's just too much power to have all at once, in my opinion.
This said, I did love that show growing up. Jakie Chan is actually a really cool guy IRL and I loved his voice acting. ^_^
I rest my case.
Where?
There.
