Alright then, we are all in agreement.
Announcement
I must regretfully inform the rest of you that Fireclawdrake will no longer be a part of this game. He has reached his third strike in regards to a pattern of disappearing without notice, and is therefore done. I am extremely disappointed that it has come to this. I had hoped for a more positive resolution to the problem. But it is time to move on and move forward.
FCD will definitely be missed. When he was around consistently, he has been a very good writer and a dynamic and interesting player. It is going to be challenging to patch over some of the holes left in the story now. But we are working on it, and have been planning for this since the second warning. And at least we can get certain aspects of the story moving again. :)
My inclination is to find alternate players for Vai, Ardiente, Tyrrin, and Ehos. These four are all difficult and complicated to extract from the story. So please let me know if you are interested in taking over one of these characters.
For all of you that have been inconvenienced by this, I am very sorry. I promise I will do everything I can to work things out and make this as smooth a transition as possible. MG, I know that I'm gonna have to do a lot to help you with Ace since you were working on some story stuff with FCD. Anyone else, please let me know.

This is one of the few times I hate being right :(
Curious if FCD would be welcome back if somehow his silence was due to a legit emergency.
Vai, Ty and Ehos were all friends with(and tied to) Ace, in varying degrees.
Also, there's the dynamic tween Ehos and Silinrul. Which isn't as important, but was fun and I was looking forward to where it could go.

Yeah, agreed, it totally bites. :(
And it's not due to an emergency. Just like the last two times. Not hard to find out. He posts regularly on Reddit. A quick Google search and I can see that he's fine. This game just wasn't a priority for him. I would never kick someone out for a genuine emergency. I've also never begrudged someone time off when they need it. But everyone else lets me know ahead of time instead of vanishing with no word. Or has come back and explained that they were called away for a genuine emergency. Because that's just good manners. And I would never penalize someone for that. This is a very different situation, that has been going on for a very long time. I gave more leeway than I probably should have because he was a good friend. But after last time I gave clear criteria. They were not met. And that's that.
All that said, back to the other topic at hand, damage control. There's no reason that those character relationships have to go away. I'm not writing out those characters. I'd rather not have to run all of them long term, but I can as a stopgap.

Now I kind of feel bad about my prolonged absence. Being honest, I've been back home for four days now, and I still have been busy at work running games at VBS, but I should be making time for the game too.
Apologies to Lyn and Kryzbyn for the pool scene, and to a lesser extent those in the SIM room, but Hermes wasn't doing much anyways.
This is such a crazy turn, and one that I never really expected. I know it's for the best of the game, but I'm really gonna miss him. I've always thought of him as one of the main crew, and it feels like we're losing a big part of the heart of the game.

Magic, being busy at work isn't the same as vanishing from the game. If anyone should feel badly about not keeping up with the game it's me.

Lyn is right guys, there has been no emergency.
I lost the spark for the game a long while back and everything since then has been trying to reclaim it over a sense of nostalgia. Trying to get that spark back, and it never really clicked again. Posting became a chore and something to be procrastinated instead of something that made me excited.
Probably should've just quit months and months ago instead of having it have to come to this, but I guess I was fooling myself that the spark would be back soon.
Apart from Tyrrin, Ehos, and the Equinox I didn't have many grand plans for my characters but if someone does want to take someone over I'll gladly work with them on any questions they might have (as well as giving Lyn my plans for the Equinox if she still wants to run that).
I have had a lot of fun, and while it is sad to come to an end, it is for the best.

Thank you for handling this graciously, FCD. I always hate it when I have to ask someone to leave the game, and I definitely prefer not to leave things on bad terms. I really appreciate your willingness to help smooth out the transition. And I would love to know those plans! It'll save me a lot of trouble trying to piece something together to fill that gap.
How things end doesn't have to take away from the good that was there. You've been a brilliant storyteller and I've enjoyed gaming with you immensely. I'm sorry it's over, but glad it happened, if that makes any sense. And, as I said, you're welcome to drop in and chat as an observer any time you like. It's been an honor, sir, and good gaming. :)

And if any of you have had more time to think about it, I really could use players to take over those four characters. If I get left with all of them, it's gonna start looking like this game was planned by Moffat. ;P
(For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, He's the one who isn't a dalek.)

icehawk333 |

I could defiantly try to take over one or more, but I really don't know enough about any of them to even know who I'd want to play.
I mostly skim-read everything thst doesn't exactly relate to me (less so recently, NW that I'm actually in the game again.)

lynora |

Ack! Attempt number three at this since Safari keeps crashing on me. >.<
Edit: The non-pony version for the rest of us! ;D
Vai is the Sunwake's adopted daughter. She is a blue dragon thanks to experiments (and other traumas) she was subjected to at the hands (claws?) of her now deceased captor, Aegythrax. She recently had an awkward encounter with her biological parents who originally turned her over to that monster. She is dating Fei and is the Champion of Light. She and Lumos have a strained relationship at best. Alt-universe Evil Vai was the one responsible for the attack on the school a few days ago in-game.
Ardiente began as a guardsman for the del Sol family. He was sent to the school to provide Lord and Lady del Sol with information about their grandchildren. He fell head over heels for Raelle, but she was under the influence of Dave's magic at the time. About the time she was freed of that, Ardiente found out some disturbing information about himself. Specifically, that he wasn't a pure blood firebird, that he was in fact part dragon (descended from Crazy Chan). He went to the sun to talk to his family and accidentally set in motion a disastrous chain of events. His family was executed. So was he, but Raelle was able to resurrect him with her powers. This led to a riot that ended with the head of the council being torn to bits and the ultimate decision that the sun should be demolished. He is sort of trying to move on from that. On the bright side, he and Raelle started dating, and they are nauseatingly cute together. Also he is starting training as a mech pilot.
Tyrrin is both hyper-competent and made of awkward. She knows how to run a country and she knows a great deal about magic and history. In fact she has been acting as a student teacher, taking over Ori's Basic Arcana classes until Ori can figure out how to keep her kami under control. Tyrrin is also the acting president of the student council. However, she has a difficult time making friends. Her best friend is Jaiye, which is an oddity both because their people have been at war for generations and because Jaiye is Tyrrin's polar opposite. Tyrrin is also friends with Ace and occasionally tolerates Keme. Tyrrin recently embarked on a serious romantic relationship with Ghalen, which has taken her by surprise since before this she had never really felt inclined towards any kind of romance at all.
Ehos is Tyrrin's brother. He has an out of control power, which is his voice. Even the smallest whisper can cause untold destruction, so he lives under a personal silence spell and uses a datapad as a means of communication. As a former musician this grates on him. He also served as a soldier for a time. He has a history of casual romantic/physical relationships, and doesn't do commitment well. He started dating his sister's best friend recently and things were going surprisingly well when he then ran afoul of a greater succubus. Her continued mental influence on him is certainly adding to the strain on his and Jaiye's relationship.

We certainly have had a good run. :)
It's been almost five years since I rolled Vai and we have had lots of fun, laughter and tears. I'll send you an email with the plans I had, I think you'll enjoy the evilness.
I will probably check in once in a while to say hi.

You know, I thought about taking one until you described them as My Little Pony characters. There is no chance of me watching enough of that to figure out what you mean.
I actually had to look up what the hell those names were...
Hehe. It was mostly meant as a joke, since they aren't exactly like the ponies. Just some personality archetypes really. ;)

Monkeygod |

I could possibly take up Ardiente, but only him. While I would probably rather enjoy playing the other three, I would rather not, due to their connections to my own PCs. I enjoy too much the organic relations that can only exist if another person is playing that character(or you're Lyn, lol. Seriously, I have no idea how you manage to make all the interactions tween the various PCs you run look so real).

I feel your pain, man. You would have to have been a little girl in the eighties to fully comprehend the depths of my disdain for My Little Pony. But spending time around FCD means finding out about these things in spite of yourself. :P
That said, even though I still haven't warmed up to the show, I do greatly enjoy the Friendship is Dragons webcomic. It's along the same lines as DM of the RIngs, and it's pretty hilarious.

Hmm I'm considering taking vai but I'm worried I won't be able to do her justice
This is basically my concern for all of them.
I have a very spesific writing style I find it hard to part from. The only one I could possibly handle is Tyrrin, who is farely in line with my normal way of doing things.
It's easy to play social akwardness incarnate when you're social akwardness incarante.

Hmm I'm considering taking vai but I'm worried I won't be able to do her justice
I totally get that worry. I totally freaked out the first time I had to take over a character because someone left. (Why hello, Jiminy.) And at first I really stressed about whether I was writing him the same way that his original player would have. But then after a while I realized that it was okay to let the character grow and change and become something different. Because that's what would have happened if his original player had been able to keep playing him in the first place.
You've done a really good job so far with your characters, including some very emotionally complicated stuff. For what it's worth, I think you'd be a great choice to take over Vai.
lynora |

Well now looks like much has happened.
I will miss Midori she was such a great friend to Lang.
anyway, I didn't even read the prior posts when I posted about being sick.
Anyway. need to catch up on what is going on with Mel and Lang
I know. It sucks losing Midori. But she's easy to write out temporarily (i.e. we can bring her back as an NPC sometimes) by having her family send for her to come home.

The more this stupid murderer plot goes on, the more frustrated I get, and not at all in a good way. Like, I want to give up on the whole dang thing and walk away.
I totally get that and I don't blame you one bit for being frustrated. This plot went off the rails a while ago, and having multiple people running it certainly hasn't helped that. This latest wrench in the works was actually designed to speed up the resolution, believe it or not. I am trying to help. The way I see it, there are two ways to quickly wrap up this storyline.
Option A. You stick with the trap plan. Hey, it's a good plan, and it actually has a better chance without Illy. There are three girls in the room with Ace who all meet the criteria that they know the murderer uses better than Illy did. Convince Tami, Tyrrin, or Alys to take her place and proceed as planned.Option B. Ace decides to throw caution to the wind and makes telepathic contact with the unconscious Ginni. She might be pissed about it later, but he can follow the link between Ginni and the murderer and finally catch the bastard.
Whichever option you choose, I expect this story to be resolved in short order. We are not dragging this out one bit more.
