Game Master GM Idyll

51 to 72 of 72 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | next > last >>

Male Human Fighter (Unbreakable) 1 HP: 16/16, AC 18 (T11, FF17), F: +4/R: +1/W: +1, Init: +1, Percep: +1

Darius rushes forward, axe swinging down in a deadly cut towards one of the men's heads.

Move action to go 2 squares forward to be on the corner in melee with the two men.
Standard action attack, ideally targeting the man hit by Minwae's thrown dagger. If Minwae misses, then I'll attack which the lone one off to the side.
Attack (includes Bless Bonus): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15, Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

M Half Elf Rogue (Scout) 1: Init +5; Senses Perception +8 (11 for traps): AC 17, touch 13, flat-footed 14 (+4 armor, +3 Dex) : hp 11 : Fort +2, Ref +5, Will +2 (+2 vs enchantments)

From the shadows behind Darius, and before he can move forward, a dagger flies at the lead man.

Dagger sneak attack: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 3 + 2 = 161d4 + 3 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) + 3 + (2) = 8

Might hid against a flat footed guy.

Male Human Fighter (Unbreakable) 1 HP: 16/16, AC 18 (T11, FF17), F: +4/R: +1/W: +1, Init: +1, Percep: +1

FYI GM, while I said it in my post above, I actually forgot to include the +1 from Bless so I should actually hit AC 16, not 15.

M Half Elf Rogue (Scout) 1: Init +5; Senses Perception +8 (11 for traps): AC 17, touch 13, flat-footed 14 (+4 armor, +3 Dex) : hp 11 : Fort +2, Ref +5, Will +2 (+2 vs enchantments)

Oh, me too. Thanks! That makes the throw a 17 to hit someone I am hoping is flat footed.

The dagger flies towards the nearest man. It lodges into the space between his helmet and his armor, causing blood to spurt forth. The man was still alive - though just barely - before Darius stepped forward and cut him down. The two other men look down in horror before looking up and baring their teeth in anger.

Janiven rushes forward and leaps across the small chasm, aiming her bow at the foes, but not firing. "These men look like hellknights, but they aren't fully of their order. They are simply armigers - trainees - so do not fear them." One of the men sneers (the one to the west), "Shut up, b~%*+! We'll end you for what you did to Viktor." The other yells loudly, "Oi! We're down this way!" Janiven immediately looses an arrow from her bow towards him.

1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 7 + 2 = 12

But the arrow simply pings against the stone wall of the sewer. The man continues without even noticing the arrow. "We've found them! We're down here!" Janvien spits and curses loudly.

Round 2
Ogrim, Minwae, Vigan, Hellknights, Darius, Janiven.

Updated Map

backgrounds

Ogrim moves up behind Darius and draws his warhammer.

M Half Elf Rogue (Scout) 1: Init +5; Senses Perception +8 (11 for traps): AC 17, touch 13, flat-footed 14 (+4 armor, +3 Dex) : hp 11 : Fort +2, Ref +5, Will +2 (+2 vs enchantments)

Minwae delays. Darius, swing and then step up. When you do, I'll move forward and attack. If the guy to the north closes you can still move to your left.

This assumes that either Darius can 5 foot step, or is willing to provoke to move 5 foot to the north. If neither are true, I guess Min will find out when Darius goes.

Bit cramped for color spray, so...

Vigan concentrates to maintain his illusion, the rogue appears to draw a heavy crossbow and is slowly loading a nasty looking barbed bolt. Perhaps the Hellknight would think he should be taken care of now, rather than later...

Additionally he shouts, "B squad! The hellknights are converging on us, nows your chance to escape!", perhaps a disorienting bluff.

Bluff:1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10

lol, here's hoping their wisdom sucks

Will Save 1: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
Will Save 2: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1

Both men look look in the direction of the illusion. The one nearest, races to catch up with it, only to discover that upon swinging his sword at it, there is nothing there. "It's a damned illusion!" he snarls angrily. The other man, turning to Darius, swings his sword in an arc towards the fighter's head.

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16

Darius just barely manages to dodge out of the way of the blow.

Darius and then Janiven to close out the round.

Updated Map

Male Human Fighter (Unbreakable) 1 HP: 16/16, AC 18 (T11, FF17), F: +4/R: +1/W: +1, Init: +1, Percep: +1

Darius pushes the man's swing aside with his shield and then swipes his axe at the man's chest, trying to catch him under the arm and into his neck.

Attack on the man who swung at me. I'd then move to an advantageous position to allow for others to get into combat as well while still being in melee myself. Work comp doesn't like the map anymore for some reason so I can't see it and will trust to DM judgement. If I can do this as a 5-foot step to not provoke great, but I'll provoke if needed.
Attack (includes Bless Bonus): 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 4 + 1 = 25, Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Crit confirm: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 4 + 1 = 16, Additional Crit Damage: 2d8 + 6 ⇒ (2, 7) + 6 = 15

Darius' sword enters the man's chest piercing his heart and killing him almost instantly. He withdraws his sword and the man falls to the ground in a heap. He then steps forward towards the man who attacked the illusion so the others can enter the fray.

Janvien, meanwhile, takes aim at the single remaining man.

1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29 for 1d8 ⇒ 1

Crit Confirm: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14 for 3d8 ⇒ (2, 8, 2) = 12

The hit looks as if it's going to do incredible damage, but it merely hits the man's shoulder, barely scraping him.

Minwae, feel free to take an action.

Round 3
Updated Map

M Half Elf Rogue (Scout) 1: Init +5; Senses Perception +8 (11 for traps): AC 17, touch 13, flat-footed 14 (+4 armor, +3 Dex) : hp 11 : Fort +2, Ref +5, Will +2 (+2 vs enchantments)

Min comes out of delay slightly frustrated with Darius for blocking his attack. He moves up to where the first person to drop is and retrieves his dagger. Not even going to waste a dagger throwing into melee with the big fighter in the way.

It would be -4 for throwing into melee and another-4 due to cover from Darius. Not worth the throw. Min delayed in order to move past Darius and attack with his sword, but I guess Darius missed the plan. Oh well.

Male Human Fighter (Unbreakable) 1 HP: 16/16, AC 18 (T11, FF17), F: +4/R: +1/W: +1, Init: +1, Percep: +1

Lol, Darius couldn't access the map and left his move up to DM decision but given that we're on small 5 foot ledges anyways, there isn't much room for manuevering. Although feel free to climb down into the sewage to come up beside me if you'd like. ;-)

M Half Elf Rogue (Scout) 1: Init +5; Senses Perception +8 (11 for traps): AC 17, touch 13, flat-footed 14 (+4 armor, +3 Dex) : hp 11 : Fort +2, Ref +5, Will +2 (+2 vs enchantments)

Likely will not matter much here, but single file fights are tough and a party can do well with timely delays and readies. Now the enemy will get another attack against Darius, or maybe try to flee where if we had planned a little better Min 'might' have been able to take him out. I am not sure if we can 5 foot step in this terrain. IF we can and you fail to drop the enemy on your turn Darius, please 5 foot back and I will move forward and make an attack.

Male Human Fighter (Unbreakable) 1 HP: 16/16, AC 18 (T11, FF17), F: +4/R: +1/W: +1, Init: +1, Percep: +1

Well bad guy goes before me, so if he flees I'll get an AoO but otherwise he'll probably outpace my 20ft speed. But either way, I'll step to the side or back up on my next turn.

Yeah, Min I think its not fair to blame Darius. Even had he stepped to the left, and you then advanced and attacked, you wouldn't have been able to 5 ft after attacking. So then you would've been where Darius is now, blocking Darius...unless you one-hit killed him somehow.

Your delay to me sounded like you wanted a chance to hit the guy to the left that D just obliterated, so can't really blame DM either.

I was hoping that my illusion would give some penalty free ranged attacks, but J didn't confirm the crit, unfortunately...It may have been better to attempt to lead him to the middle of the intersection, then you 3 could all melee. Or into the sewage for that matter, for height bonus and unclutteredness.

Its just too bad you guys arent half-orcs, then you would enjoy poop water, rather than shun it.

M Half Elf Rogue (Scout) 1: Init +5; Senses Perception +8 (11 for traps): AC 17, touch 13, flat-footed 14 (+4 armor, +3 Dex) : hp 11 : Fort +2, Ref +5, Will +2 (+2 vs enchantments)

OH, I did not mean to blame anyone. Sorry if it sounded that way. Group tactics are tough in tight places. I was only trying to make a suggestion for efficient actions and to encourage them in the future. You are right that Min could not move, attack and then step out of the way. How it would to work would be a series of delays on both our parts. Darius could delay until after I got my attack next round and 5 foot stepped back. It was really the DM's call that Darius moved all the way up. But that is fine too as he can take a hit much better than Min.

backgrounds

Ogrim will jut move one space forward and one to the right.

Male Human Fighter (Unbreakable) 1 HP: 16/16, AC 18 (T11, FF17), F: +4/R: +1/W: +1, Init: +1, Percep: +1

I didn't see it as blame, thus my sarcasm about poo water lol! you know hard it would be to clean out the scalemail?

M Half Elf Rogue (Scout) 1: Init +5; Senses Perception +8 (11 for traps): AC 17, touch 13, flat-footed 14 (+4 armor, +3 Dex) : hp 11 : Fort +2, Ref +5, Will +2 (+2 vs enchantments)

[ooc]Glad you took no offense. :)They used barrels of sand to clean and remove the rust. The armor was rolled in the barrels and the sand scoured the armor clean. ]/ooc]

Sorry guys, didn't realize I was up.

The image next to the lesser Hellknight laughs in his face before decomposing into a shadowy blot, and moving quickly back towards the intersection. Vigan throws the figment down the western corridor, where it re-materializes as a brick wall blocking passage, hopefully delaying the called for reinforcements.

M Half Elf Rogue (Scout) 1: Init +5; Senses Perception +8 (11 for traps): AC 17, touch 13, flat-footed 14 (+4 armor, +3 Dex) : hp 11 : Fort +2, Ref +5, Will +2 (+2 vs enchantments)

I believe the hellknights are up, no?
