Exhaling finally to see that none of the demons attack Abigail -- and that her cat, even, is still standing -- Tik chuckles a bit as he sails through the air toward the battle. When he gets overhead he twitches his whiskers again at the demons and singsongs: "Comb of rooster, nose of sheep / Tears of willows that can weep / Won't you *ssholes go to sleep?"

In mid-swing the two demons' eyes roll back into their heads. They slide down into heaps in the sand, their chins stained by their own venomous drool. "Hehehehehehe. Ever accommodating, aren't you dearies?"

Thaddeus looks back at Liette and nods. "She will be safe. I will protect her."

Striding forward behind Vultrix, Thaddeus very quietly whispers in the creature's ear. It nods, lowers its pipe and begins muttering quietly. Springing up from the ground around Abigail arises a barrier- part glass, part shining metal, nearly two feet thick, a walled sphere encompassing her fallen form, protecting her from the demons. Slits open in the metal spines of the sphere, and they belch forth hot blue fire around it, a blazing inferno providing another means of persuasion.

Vultrix casts Major Image; DC 16 Will Save to disbelieve the illusion.

GM, I forgot to stock the 10gp material component of Create Pit; willing to let me deduct the cost of a few spades from my gold store now, or must I cast something else?

Thaddeus - No, that's fine you can buy the component retroactively.

Kenan - Ride-by Attack doesn't work the way you did it. In the future I won't allow that type of action.

Ride-By Attack wrote:
When you are mounted and use the charge action, you may move and attack as if with a standard charge and then move again (continuing the straight line of the charge). Your total movement for the round can't exceed double your mounted speed. You and your mount do not provoke an attack of opportunity from the opponent that you attack.

It requires you to take the charge action, which needs a melee attack. So if you're using it, it would be a single bite from the roc, and a single melee attack from Kenan, with the +2 to hit and the -2 to AC for both of them.

With Flyby Attack, the Roc would be able to move its speed and bite once while Kenan was firing his bow. I think it's actually impossible to do what you wanted to do (the double move, bite, and full attack with Kenan). Flyby Attack is the closest you'll get (that I know of anyway).

Abigail, the one beside you -- #6 -- is asleep, as is #1. #7 is confused. It will automatically attack anyone who attacks it, but won't take an AoO against you if you move away. If no one attacks it, it will do one of a number of random actions...including striking whoever is nearest to it.

Male Human (Brevic) Master Summoner 10

Abigail, note that you're currently covered by my wall-illusion.

Stepping forward, Thaddeus pulls a small silver spade from a pouch, tossing it forward onto the ground near the demons. He mutters a quick incantation and it sinks into the ground, bringing the earth with it, a great gap appearing in the land. It tries to suck in two demons.

Create Pit on AAB/AAC 27, under the two demons. DC 19 Reflex save to avoid falling into the pit. According to the spell, Abigail's mount should have to make a save if it ends its turn next to the pit; but given that the creature is twice the size of the pit I'm suggesting you call b*&&!!!$ on that.

Coughing up a cloud of dust and blood, Abigail's eyes squint at the blue sky above her, looking for signs of movement, but all she sees is a great wall extending upward beside her.

Round 4

The demon who was blinded by the vulpinal's smite teleports out of sight.

The nerizo under the effect of Tik's confusion spell stands babbling incoherently to itself.

The other three turn on Dusari, trying to claw the tiger to shreds before they are killed. As one of them approaches the huge tiger, he lashes out at it with a paw. The demon dodges Dusari's blow. Once they have the tiger surrounded two of hound demons bite at his flanks, while the one standing over Abigail bites and claws at Dusari's face. The demon in front of the tiger savages his eyes and face with its claws. One of the ones behind Dusari gets ahold with its teeth and rips a chunk of meat free.

Dusari Sansa roars from the pain, his eyes filled with rage and fear for his mistress. He lashes at the demon closest to Abigail, claws and teeth dancing in a pink bloody cloud.

Exhaling finally to see that none of the demons attack Abigail -- and that her cat, even, is still standing -- Tik chuckles a bit as he sails through the air toward the battle. Crissor moves closer and seeing Abigail in deeper trouble he growls out. "I will not let the innocent fall again!" He focuses healing energy into his hand and then throws the ball of healing energy at Abigail.

Umm that attack from #7 would start off Viorel's readied action unless I am totally mistaken. Not that I would not have wanted to save my 5th spell slot, but such is life.

True. So that means Abigail took no damage and the demon is covered in ice with 33 HP that blocks LOE. So Tik couldn't have hexed it either.

In placed of my last post

Hovering in midair Tiknesr nods to Viorel. "Nice timing. What comes next? I suppose there's a good chance it just teleports away in a few seconds, but if it doesn't, what should we do? Perhaps Kenan flies it up high and then drops it?"

"As for these other two, they won't stay asleep forever. Anyone feel like doing the honors?"

Male Gnoll Paladin (Divine Hunter) / 10 HP: 85/85 AC:24/14/20

Uhh...the demon is surrounded in a giant block of ice with 33 HP right now. You have to kill the ice before you can kill the demon. Viorel basically took it out of the fight for a while at least.

Viorel raises his voice to yell out instructions. "Surround it, the ice can't stand much damage, just overwhelm the enemy. Finish the sleepers after."

Has the demon crossed the wall after all? If so, does Abigail see through the illusion? How about Dusari Sansa?

No. To be clear, as soon as the demon went to attack Abigail, Viorel cast a spell which encased it in a tomb of ice. It's now surrounded in a block of ice and not doing anything, the other two demons are asleep. If Abigail makes a DC 16 will save she sees through the illusion, same as Dusari and everyone else. Unless someone tells you it's an illusion.

Female Human (Taldane) Fighter (Trench Fighter) 3, Paladin (Divine Hunter) 7

Thanks for clarifying that all, Jelani. I wasn't sure exactly what was going on. Now that it's s little more clear ill post an action this evening when I get home. It'll just be moving into position/reloading, however, so it won't change much for anyone else.

"Hehehehe, this demon's in for a rude awakening, eh?" Tiknesr giggles.

"Thinking like a swarm is one of my specialties. If I may, I'd suggest that Abigail's kitty or dear Kenan 'break the ice', as it were, hopefully damaging the demon along the way. Immediately after I can hex the poor beast so it's easier to hit. Then the rest of us can likely finish him off...with Viorel and Abigail in reserve to cast a spell, only if needed? What do you think? I suspect the abomination will be pulp within seconds."

I'm suggesting the paladins wait until after the ice has been broken by someone else, since their holy damage and smiting don't help against the ice. Assuming this plan works for all, Tik will give it the evil eye right after the first attack smashes the ice, bringing it to an 18 AC

Abigail's Will save: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29
Dusari Sansa's Will save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14

Dusari Sansa, having remained on the right side of the wall, watches the demon get iced, but can't stop its fury. He roars as he lashes out at the immobilized demon.

Regaining her bearing, Abigail gets on her feet and peers at the walls enclosing her. Quickly, she detects telltale flaws and knows that they're not there. As quickly as they had appeared, they vanish for her, and she sees the entombed demon.

She brings her spear to bear as she steps backward to get enough room to maneuver it, then lets out a sharp cry of anger as she tries to smash the ice to get at the demon.

Seeing the demons incapacitated, Liette casts a furtive look back to Viorel, then offers a brief nod before jogging ahead with jingle of spur and the crunch of earth underfoot. As she moves, Liette slides Valor into its holster at her waist and quickly draws out Valor, snapping the cylinder open and shaking the spent shell casings out onto the ground. As she comes to a stop just past Crissor, the paladin looks back to the gnoll briefly while loading rounds into her revolver.

When she's finished, Liette's attention turns worriedly to Abigail. She watches the older woman just long enough to make eye contact and motion to her, indicating that she's going to advance and heal her once the rest of this unpleasantness is settled. Looking back to Crissor she asks, "Should we take out the sleepin' ones?"

Woohoo!

The group gathers and surrounds the demon, smashing it to bits. The other two sleeping demons are quickly put out of their misery with arrows or bullets to the brain.

Combat Over. Everyone gets 4,000 XP.

Abigail drops to the floor, her body shaking from the exertion it suffered. She does not weep, for she feels dry and thin, but instead shivers violently. Her companion senses her despair and walks up to hear, encircling her with its great black coat of fur.

After a moment, she blinks back to the realm of the living and looks around: "Have others been hurt? Poison?"

Why can't we just lock the Wound away?"

Female Human (Taldane) Fighter (Trench Fighter) 3, Paladin (Divine Hunter) 7

"I've been better," Liette admits to Abigail with a hushed tone of voice, holstering her revolver as she turns away from one of the executed demons. Approaching the older woman, Liette reaches out and lays a hand on her shoulder, sending a warm wave of light deep through her bones and aching muscles, causing her blood to clot at her injuries and soothe her agony.

"Inheritor bless you," Liette murmurs, letting her hand raise from Abigail's shoulder. Only then does she check her own wound created by the demon, brows furrowed and lips pursed.

"That—looks awful," is said with a hoarse laugh as she paws at her own wound gently. "Explains the numbness in m'muscles an' the ache though."

Thaddeus whispers a thank you to the fox-faced man; he tips his cap and falls into a portal. Queezle and Thaddeus make across the desert sand towards Abigail, dodging between the remnants of battle. Thaddeus wipes sweat from his brow. "...how in the planes did we survive that." He looks up to where the voidwyrm was.

Male Gnoll Paladin (Divine Hunter) / 10 HP: 85/85 AC:24/14/20

Crissor pants and sheathes his bow moving over to Abigail "by Erastil you gave us a scare." He looks her over for any more wounds and gives a cursory look over at Dusari Sansa.

Tiknesr lets himself float down to the ground. In answer to Thaddeus, the rat giggles and says, "Because you all pack quite a punch, that's why! A dragon blasted to death in seconds? I never dreamed I'd get to see that in what's left of my weary lifetime." The old rat strokes his beard, marveling.

"Abigail, I'm sorry you and your kitten got stuck up on the front lines by yourself though. What can we do about that next time? None of us is really made for taking the kind of abuse these monsters dish out, are we?"

Before moving on Tiknesr is going to go sniff around for bits of fur or blood left behind by the demon that teleported away.

Take 20 on Perception (scent): 20 + 14 = 34

Tikneser can find some.

"Gather around. Let Erastil's blessings comfort you. Let our resolve see us through this, bound to our target, gaining momentum as we loose height."

Male Human (Brevic) Master Summoner 10

Thaddeus spreads his hands and summons two new chariots of ghostly blue matter.

Cast Phantom Chariot twice, using 4th-level spell slots. That'll be it for 4th-level spells today.

The mage gives a warm smile to the older women happy to see they survived without casulties. "Alright let's get the trophies and move on. We should probably take the scales off the dragoon." Viorel notes. After casting a spell he goes trough the battlefield to see if there were any magical items among the enemy, mostly concerned for other divination devices.

Detect magic.
