Tempus Novi

Game Master Jazzai Moonbreaker

Seven New Gods are born.

Tempus Rules

1 to 50 of 96 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | next > last >>

All the old gods and worlds are dead, wiped out completely by some unknown force. The "gods" that manifest in this new multi-verse coalesced from the energy in the "empty" multi-verse into being now or are children of Allianda, the Great Mother.

This is a going game but we are recruiting new Gods to play.

This is a story telling style of game. To complete certain actions you will need to spend AP. This is explained in the link below. In the discussion section of this game I also pointed what you can spend points on, when the roll over time is and how to attain the next rank.

If you have any questions please post and I will be happy to answer them.

In the Campaign tab is the list of the current Gods.

This is a Lords of Creation based game and we are using the rules version 2 in the link below.

Tempus Novi Rules

Everyone will be starting as Fledgling gods. That means only TWO domains you can start with.

Please submit your ideas for your gods in the following Format.

Clarification on Domains and Portfolios

Domains: This is what defines you, your essence. Domains are broad categories of influence, and multiple gods may have the same domain. Death, War, and Law are domains.

Portfolios: These are what you represent. More focused than Domains, Portfolios define who you and and what you mean. Bones, Swords, or Vampires are Portfolios.

Dark Archive

Moshado,

Do you think you have room for a God of Madness?

As we currently don't have a god of Madness, Yes. Post up your idea and I will look it over with the other applicants. I will be recruiting 7 new players.

I already saw, Hold on, I'm about to make a god of deceit and roguishness

....o.O I hope we don't do this constantly xD

I would say check out the current gods in the Campaign info tab. If you are unable to see the God's tab then please tell me and I will post the current gods here.

Death Keeper, You easily have the same definate style as Veldrin, but he currently is a god of the dead and undeath. So there will be a lot of over lap.

As for acceptable it is. Definately has flare.

EDIT::: Heh, I had just finished that reply when you edited your post.

Currently Deciet and Roguishness arent taken. Secrets are but no one has claimed Deciet as a primary.

Dark Archive

Name: The Beggar Prophet
Played By: twilsemail
Domains: Madness, Prophecy
Portfolios: Beggars, Madmen, Prophets and the Cursed
Theme: Mad God cursed with visions and wanderlust
Alignment: CN
Attack: 3d6
Defense:4d6
HP: 30
Description: A crumpled mass of dirty rags, looking carefully you can see a face in the shadows of the “hood.”

Is it acceptable for a god's appearance to change as he comes into his own?

Edit to add: Reading through the initial thread, this system looks like a blast. I may try to set one of these up among local friends that don't have enough time to get together at a table...

It is perfectly acceptable for the image to change. And for mortals you can have a different look than when interacting with other gods.

Allianda, The Great Mother, always looks to be in a different stage of pregnancy, but always of the race someone is viewing her as.

Goya, The Forge Father, looks like a dwarf ect.

Edit: Indeed it is. It is why this was initially set up. But I am always open for adding new friends to this. Hence the new open recruitment. EVEN IF I Recruit seven in three-six weeks I will probably open it again so more new blood can come in.

Name: The Red Rogue, The Bloody Gentleman, Father of Luck
Played By: Death_Keeper
Domains: Trickery and Luck
Portfolios: Crime, Thieves, Assassins, Luck in general
Theme: The Red Rogue, also known as the Bloody Gentleman is the god of all of the things that go bump in the night, thieves, assassins, murderers and whores all pay homage to the Red Rogue in one way or another.
Alignment: Neutral Evil
Attack: 3
Defense: 4
HP: 30
Description: The Red Rogue is the god of crime, both organized and unorganized. A man who lifts purses to survive will often drop a coin as a tribute to the Bloody Gentleman because if the Gentleman decides that his luck has run out, he may grab the wrong purse. The Red Rogue was born from the first drops of blood that a man drew in exchange for money. The Father of Luck bestows his gift almost without preference, but always tips his scale in favor of thieves and Assassins over all others

You speak of blood and poof

Can I suggest a spoiler in the Campaign tab for developments that've already occurred and facts about the world? When you're up to 20 or 30 players you might have a rough time remembering just where the moon came from or who made medicine (pulling examples from the current game).

Alternately, a Wiki might help.

(Sorry for being an invasive applicant.)

Actually I agree with you Twilsemail, I tend to make suggestions I believe would improve a game, whether I would be accepted or not :D

I think that knowing who did what and where is a good idea for any game

I am actually working on that myself to make a tab for the campaign tab.

I don't know the first thing about setting up a Wiki, but if you Know how that would be great.

I love suggestions on how to make things better. I may not use some but this is a good one.

I feel slightly bad for bringing crime and bloodshed to your world, (I just caught up on the reading) But I like the evil/deception feeling

It would eventually get there. But it has been a slow start but that is fine.

I am working on the campaign tab right now. It will include celestial bodies, races, decrees, and concepts.

was my god approved/disapproved or did you just not get a chance to look at him?

Sovereign Court

Love the idea. Reminds me a bit of the game Sacrifice in some ways.

Allow me to submit:

Name: Vista; The Picture in the Sky, The Rhythym on the Ground, The Song of the Sea.

Played by: Stratos (me - surprise).

Domains: Art and Weather

Portfolios: Light, Storms, Sound.

Theme: Vista attracts the worship of those taken by natural beauty in the world or that created out of talent - but not out of birth alone. Aspiring lovers are often found whispering prayers to him for the other's attention, and those seeking succor from the deleterious side-effects of dangerous weather make pleas.

Alignment: Chaotic Good

Attack: 4d6
Defense: 4d6
HP: 20

Description: Vista is often depicted as a young, generally attractive man with one noticeably unattractive feature - a birthmark, a mole, or perhaps a crippled limb - to serve as a reminder of the effort needed by mortals to have their non-physical beauty shine. While mercurial, he is generally kind in the end, though he views the universe as a great vat of clay with which to make his art for his enjoyment. His favorite medium is with patterns of weather as they seem to captivate the audience of mortals with ease and have long-lasting effects on the environment at the same time.

A fledgling god, his canvas is small - limited to a single place at a time generally, focused on generating the perfect balance of values or terrain in a region.

I am letting recruitment stay open for a bit before I approve/disapprove anyone. I love the idea so far and I consider it a viable god to add.

Alright, the Campaign tab has been updated with Current Gods, Cosmic Decrees, Races, Concepts Shared and stand alone, And current Celestial bodies.

Cool! I'm thinking that my symbol should be a gloved hand holding a coin covered in blood.

and I want to create humans, money, and absolute freedom

Heh, Concepts of Money, the Race of humans and in what way Absolute Freedom?

A Cosmic Decree or such?

Cosmic decree, to all races, gods may not prevent the actions of any mortal being. Each person and thing has the choice to obey or disobey. The actions can be punished or rewarded but the gods cannot directly interfere.

All races now have free will

Inately actually all mortal Races have free will. You can create them but they don't have to follow you.

Divine Covenant is for when they are inately followers of you and no others usually.

And if you do go through with that type of decree, no direct interferance you are stopping Heros and Legends, since those are Direct interferance. Also boons and curses, which are DIRECT Punishments and rewards. That can have huge impacts directly on people. Divine Covenants would also fall under that. So you would be cutting off a lot of the investments gods can put into races.

Well I was thinking more along the lines of no.... "my race would never do that..." but thinking about it your way... Nevermind

If say you as a God of Deciet and Murder wanted to introduce it into someone else's race you can play a man teaching them and talk with the player whose race it is to work it into a story of his influence and yours vieing for influence over the people.

It is mutual story building after all. While murder is not a concept unfamiliar to the Llieldasine, as nature has it all the time. Deciept for the purposes of Greed would be. So that could be worked into a story of them learning about it.

I will definitely give the societies theft, greed and deceit... Traveling around and teaching the worship of myself:D

I suppose I will give this a shot!

Name: Nacius, the Unspoken Will
Played By: Marco Polaris
Domains: Change, Fear
Portfolios: Darwinism, mutation, paranoia, survival
Theme: Nacius is the primitive instinct for survival, and the power to adapt. In its wake, animals become monsters and mortals become fiends.
Alignment: Chaotic (and probably Evil)
Attack: 2
Defense: 3
HP: 50
Description: To mortals, Nacius seems beyond reckoning, even mad. Though it cannot truly fear death, Nacius loves the mortal creatures of the world, and would see all of them succeed--even if, paradoxically, they must slaughter each other to do it. Itsgifts are the fear that comes with a total awareness of the world's dangers, and the power to transform into something greater and more dangerous than your enemies. Nacius might transform a wolf into a ravenous predator, then change the deer it hunts into armored, hostile warbeasts, before changing the grass they eat into poisonous thorn brushes. Left to its own devices, Nacius wages an eternal, escalating war against itself, and lands that Nacius favors are toxic, inhospitable places where every living creature is an engine of death.

Hi This is Ian. Here is my concept.
Name: Baxtra Flairchild
Played by: Ian
Domains: Passion and Violence
Portfolios: Barbarians, Courtesans, sex, Debate, Martial Arts, and Weaponry.
Theme: She is a very involved and to some extent caring deity. so she spends her time walking among the mortal races teaching her knowledge and spreading her faith. She expects her people to do the same.
Alignment: Chaotic neutral
Attack: 4d6
Defense: 2d6
HP 40
Description Normally she is a sensuous and beautiful fire-haired and green-eyed human in gold and red red silks wrapped and tied at the wrists and ankles with silver chains as a belt and bandoleer. When angry she appears as a huge red and gold dragon.

Nacius... I like the way you think. :D makes me think fondly of Magic the Gathering, Green deck...

The Red Rogue looks at Nacius and gives a toothy smile as he bows his head and bends at the waist... flipping a red-stained coin high into the air

Grand Lodge

Name: Muthadh Ealaidh
Played By: FF
Domains (Portfolios): Plant (Decay/Fungus) and Darkness (Night/Shadows)
Theme: All this fungal to include fungal parasite, spores, symbioses (lichen), and intelligent creatures (like the vegepygmy)
Alignment: Any Neutral. He cares not for spreading ruin or destruction but rather wishes to instate his kind within the areas where ruin and decay prevail. In areas where fungal growths are common and thriving, he seeks to enable ways for it to grow and evolve much in the way he has (and in ways like the vegepygmy have). He doesn't want to quicken the end of humanoid civilization, nor does he wish to install fungal creatures as the dominant creatures of the world. He seeks only to provide the means in which they can create their own destiny within it.
Attack: 2
Defense: 3
HP: 5
Description: The entity known as Muthadh Ealaidh, was originally a powerful druid was fascinated up to the point of obsession about fungi. So much was his exposure and obsession that his mental and soon after, his physical health all began to decline. When he perished, his physical decay - coupled with his rapidly decaying power - fueled the growth of his beloved mutated and evolved fungus. Gaining self awareness, the creature now known as That Which Creeps from Decay, has taken on its "parent's" work and seeks to spread the result of his mad experiments across the world. Like the lichen, he is versatile and resilient. Like the moss he can spread and grow even where other life cannot. However, like the death cap, he hungers and is compelled to spread and grow.

Physically he resembles the old man only in frame. His body is swollen to much greater size with his fungal growths. His head is mostly greens mixed with browns which mix and fade along his body into the reds, yellows, and blues until it gets to his legs and feet which get progressively more darker and damper looking plum purple. His eyes are fully black with a single white dot in the center of each eye which helps others follow where his eyes are roaming. His maw is a circular chasm with a whip like tongue suitable only for providing the ability to speak. He does not ingest food through the mouth but rather crams decaying matter into his form - absorbing it and fueling his fungal body.

Name: Nefenshar, Champion of the Scorned
Played By: Iolth Taknith
Domains: War, Vengeance
Portfolios: War (Righteous Battle), Vengeance (Just Revenge)
Theme: God of Righteous War and Champion of the Scorned
Alignment: NG
Attack: 4d6
Defense: 3d6
HP: 30
Description: With a flash of red light and the clangor of battle, Nefenshar appears as a tiefling clad in golden armor, or a slave with broken chains. A once-mortal champion of tieflings and others who have tried to rise above their heritage, and a crusader against slavery.

This is seven applications so far so this is going great. I love all of them so far but I have a question Iolth.

Are you encouraging Vengence or Justice?

Dark Archive

I've had several ideas on things to encourage madness in the campaign. I am hoping for more societies sometime soon. Right now it's just Dwarves and the Llieldasine, right? I kind of gathered that the Shinokas were unintelligent farmers.

It looks like Ohren has 5 domains already. Was that a clerical error or did I miss a few actions that built up his profile?

Out of Curiosity, What does "Moon A" look like?

Shinokas are intelligent creatures of their own right. Their harmless seeming nature does give that vibe though.

Ohren, only has two I must have accidentaly copied the wrong entry. I will fix that.

Moon A right now is a plain small moon. Think simular to our moon only 1/3 the size and uninhabitable. When 2 more points are spent on it it will be a habitable moon that is the size of earths current moon.

Dark Archive

What color is it?

Green

Been following along. Good stuff so far.

Hello Monkeygod, I didn't know you were here...

Edit: you are the god of death, yes I did, I just didn't know it was you

Indeed he is. Any one have any other questions?

Would anyone object to the concept of Nobility

*Innocent Grin*

Among the gods or the Mortals?

Dark Archive

I think almost all of my ideas are pretty mundane (in theorycraft, not mechanics).

Stars
Astrology
A second moon
monsters

Stuff like that.

Nobility seems like it'd be something like a Divine Mandate. Maybe that's the culmination.

Mortals, but if the gods choose to adopt it I will not object

Nobility is a mundane concept actually. Since it is just a rank structure that gives no numerical benifits to combat.

So god of madness and the stars?

Dark Archive

I was thinking of nobility as the Right of Kings. They're better than you just by virtue of being noble. That's what I meant with Divine Mandate (from the ruleset in the wiki).

Madness and Prophecy. His third Domain would likely be stars or the void. I may make him Chaos incarnate (Protean) at some point as well.

Better than you by simply being born to it. Able to lay down lifechanging laws at the drop of the hat. Able to issue orders and do no work while others slave to feed themselves?

-Hmmmm I wonder why a god of deceit, thievery, and assassination would want political intrigue and spiteful commoners

xD

Heheh. Cosmic Degree: Some animals are more equal than others.

Oh, right--physical description! The god Nacius looks like a massive, roiling chaos beast. When speaking to others as a god, Nacius grows a humanoid torso, modeled after one of the listeners--but with a few of Nacius' hopeful "alterations." In the mortal world, Nacius takes the more humble shape of an emaciated, forlorn demon that constantly mumbles to itself.

The Red Rogue, The Bloody Gentleman, The Father of Luck

I stand before the greatness and glory of the other gods and smile. I bow before their knowledge, for they are both moments and eons older than I. I was formed from the blood of a mortal, Birthed by the crime that was committed. I am the God of Trickery and Deceit, I am the source of greed and lies. I bestow luck to the footpads and assassins, and cheaters and gamblers alike. I am worshiped unknowingly by many and thanked profusely by more.

I may only hope that my luck holds and I am selected to be a true god.

Void fits the madness part since the things that shall not be named come not from the stars but the void between them.

Well, Nobility with Divine Mandate, will only apply to your followers so you could do that, but it would not in state it for all races. But that is a perfectly viable option for your followers.

Concepts you create via Create Concept are giving to your races if they qualify for them. If you want to give your creations a concept that was created by another deity, or use another concept to Alchemize with your own, you must engage that deity in combat or ask them share it with you.
Right now One concept is shared amongst the gods for all races. And that is Written Language as long as no two races share the same written languages.

We wonders...yes...we wonders

Most of my stuff seems to come under mundane or advanced concepts. I was wondering if you wanted to bring us in this cycle or later?

So no culture can have agriculture, medicine or blacksmithing without fighting you or Goya?
