Chainmail |
The giant turns his attention to the half human, half dwarf ranger.
The deadly fists leave Magnum badly bleeding on the ground as he takes a left, a right, and then a two-handed finisher. Hon is still staggered having slipped the finisher.
Party up.
Hon Semparatus |
Hon manages to spit out a bloody giant curse accompanied by a deep chuckle as he draws his hammer in a shaking hand. And yes he remains prone for the moment.
Taunting. Not just for kender...
Joan the Hunter |
Rapid Shot PBS: 1d20 + 8 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 8 - 2 + 1 = 12
Damage: 1d8 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 1 = 10
Rapid Shot PBS: 1d20 + 8 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 8 - 2 + 1 = 13
Damage: 1d8 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 1 = 8
Luilfr Bite: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
In the confusion, both Joan and Luilfr make a poor showing.
Gallak Fangbreaker |
Gallak's roar reverberates across the walls with pitch and volume uncommon in a dwarf. His white beard blows in an impossible wind, his normally blue eyes a decided yellow, slitted black and seething with uncontained rage.
Form shifting, as if seen through the lense of a broken glass, he levels his father's axe with his scowl, sighting across the mirror polish as his features distort into a sneer revealing needle-like teeth.
Supernaturally enhanced speed carries him with the force of a cannonball into the giant, his feet leaving the ground in a leap as he swings the massive axe in a wide arc.
Attack : 1d20 + 9 + 2 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 9 + 2 + 1 + 2 = 28
Damage : 1d12 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 8 + 2 = 14
Depending on the way the rounds have worked out this may be two turns or happen all at once, I'm not sure, but it'll be cast mirror image followed by a charge, entering rage the moment he reaches the giant. If it's not possible to charge (though I think it is) Gallak will instead advance using acrobatics to try and mitigate the reach advantage.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Chainmail |
With Magnum injured on the ground and Gallak advancing, the giant continues his devastating pummeling. He starts with Hon and Pito, the wisecracking dwarf and renegade gnoll.
Hon defends himself as best he can (+4 to defensive)
and possibly a bluff bonus Hon Bluff: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
The first fist hammers Hon bleeding to the ground Hon at -9hp total
The next blow hits Pito, and the devastating two handed finisher leaves Pito coughing up blood but still standing. The giant retreats a few huge steps up leaving him towering even higher above the dwarves. As Gallak approaches, Pito hands him the enchanted axe and falls to the ground in an exhausted heap.
Gallak is just below the giant unable to reach this turn. I will have him advance the next turn. Everyone up.
From down the stairs, you can hear some shouts in dwarven. "Free us. Free us. We are imprisoned below."
Joan the Hunter |
"Luilfr! HEEL!" Joan barks out as she steps over Pito. Though the wolf snarls at the giant, he obeys.
"You're either brave, or foolish." She tells the gnoll as she lets off a shot.
Rapid Shot, PBS, FE: Giant: 1d20 + 8 - 2 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 8 - 2 + 1 + 2 = 18
Damage: 1d8 + 3 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 3 + 1 + 2 = 13
"I'm not sure which, but I hope you still have enough wits to tell me why I hear a couple of Dwarves calling for help." She continues as she lines up another shot.
Rapid Shot, PBS, FE: Giant: 1d20 + 8 - 2 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 8 - 2 + 1 + 2 = 22
Damage: 1d8 + 3 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 1 + 2 = 7
And Joan is rapidly running out of Arrows.
Kragg Stoneheart |
Kragg stands up still bleeding and heads to the group with his urgrosh in tow. Hopefully he can stop some of the bleeding on others before it is too late. He saw Nar heal Hon, now if he can just heal Magnum then everyone else will have a chance at surviving this.
Chainmail |
The giant takes a massive blow from Gallak after throwing a two handed punch at the advancing dwarf. Joan connects with another arrow that strikes the giant through thick hide. AoO/damage: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (12) + 19 = 312d6 + 13 ⇒ (4, 5) + 13 = 22
The giant retreats around the corner quickly withdrawing up the steps. He is bleeding from a many wounds.
The giant has moved up and around the corner of the large circular stairway. Party to go--axe stats should be on Khazad's sheet. +3 merciful with another +2 equivalent enhancement that has devastating crits I think.
Gallak Fangbreaker |
Mirrors: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Luck check: 1d5 ⇒ 4
Four figments left.
Gallak shrugs off his gnomish backpack, the healing light washing over the crumpled Kib to no avail. With a scowl, he takes off at a pace that would shame the northern winds, racing after the wounded giant.
I guess I'll move at speed fifty until I see big dude, following the blood trail?
Hon Semparatus |
Bleeding ears, headache, HEY Who ripped up me clothes?" Hon takes a moment to stare at the ceiling, until Gallak leaps over him taking the the stairs by two and three. "Oh. Oh crap. Here we go again," as the memories return in a rush.
Still prone, Hon turns his head to assess the scene of his almost death. Spying Kibs form and gear, "I really need some better tools, Kib was smarter than me. I would've told him that but... eh. We've got pissed off giants running about."
Stumbling upwards, Hon walks to Kib to do an inventory check.
Hon is angry, for now this makes every time he made an effort to do the loyal good dwarf effort, he has gotten his rear handed to him.
Chainmail |
Gallak continues to rush up the steps, and steps inside the giant's reach and takes another shot from the giant to swing at him. The giant dispels another figment.
AoO/1:true figment/damage: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (5) + 21 = 261d4 ⇒ 42d6 + 13 ⇒ (3, 6) + 13 = 22
Party up again
Magnum struggles to his feet and drinks a potion.
2d8 + 3 ⇒ (8, 2) + 3 = 13
Joan the Hunter |
Joan follows the giant up. Luilfr at her heels. She pulls up just out of reach and looses another arrow.
Attack PBS, FE: 1d20 + 8 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 8 + 1 + 2 = 23
Damage: 1d8 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 3 + 2 = 13
Gallak Fangbreaker |
I had wanted only to turn the corner, but I'll roll with it.
Acrobatics to evade AoO: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Why did I even put ranks in that? Sonofa...
Gallak halfheartedly tries to dodge the punch, instead letting it hit his figment as he and his remaining duplicates swing their axes as one.
attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30
confirm: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27
damage: 1d12 + 9 + 1d6 ⇒ (8) + 9 + (3) = 20
additional critical damage: 2d12 + 18 + 1d10 ⇒ (5, 8) + 18 + (7) = 38
Striking with the force of many, the white dwarf drives the blade of the axe deep into the giant's chest and pulls down as he feels it crush bone, driving a torrent of acidic salts deep into the giant's flesh. He roars a victory scream, more bestial than dwarf.
Worked out better than expected.
Hon Semparatus |
Much muttering to only himsilf, "Kib's Bandolier O'Wands... Not here. Well. Hope someone has it. Rifling through the haversack. "What the? More space within than out, I gotta git me one of these. Heh. I do now." Looking up from his inventorying, Hon takes in his surroundings, with an eye for threat assessment. Still heavily bruised, Hon strecthes out his limbs wincing at the feedback.
Good thing he isn't a spell caster of any sort. He might absentminded open a portal to the nether. Well actually, that would happen and he subconscously avoids profiency in the arcane.
Hon Semparatus |
Bit of a retcon...
Nar lets out a long breath, "Well he was a tough one. Now gather everyone together for one last burst of healing and lets free those prisoners!"
Hon stumbles over to get within the range of effect, grabbing Pito alongside him.
Channel 2d6 ⇒ (2, 3) = 5
Common: I know I feel better already... And Thanks Pito, you've begun the first step to being your own bossman.
Walking with a looser stride, Hon heads back to Kib. Grabs the Handy Haversack and starts stuffing gear into it. His and Kibs until stuffed. Then he swings Kib over his shoulder and follows along with the others, pausing briefly to admire his own blood splatter on the steps. "I hate this job...
Kragg Stoneheart |
Kragg joins the others when Nar decides to channel. When the healing energy washes over him Kragg decides to liberally use the wand as well to get everyone up and ready if another giant is present. Thanks Nar now lets top off before we continue forward and find any prisoners they may have kept.
4d8 + 4 ⇒ (6, 8, 7, 1) + 4 = 26 4 charges used on Kragg everyone else can roll if they want and let me know how many they used. I believe Joan has a full cure lt wand and Nar? has the wand of cure mod.
Nar Redgrave |
I have my own cure light and a party cure mod
If we aren't pressed for time Nar will use some of the cure light wand as well Roll for your cure and I'll take the next four charges Kragg
Gallak Fangbreaker |
From around the corner, there comes a horrific chopping sound. The sound of steel on stone, rhythmic as the forge. The giant's head, like a soft boulder, turns the corner and gently bounces down the stairs, but the noise remains. As the group rounds the corner, they find Gallak, skin steaming, his features covered in blood from the mangled body of the giant. Again and again he drives the axe into its body, as tears wash lines of blood from his face.
Gallak Fangbreaker |
Ah hope yer tougher than this slack-jawed dolt, broad. He ran like a child to your bosom!
Attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
damage: 1d12 + 9 + 1d6 ⇒ (6) + 9 + (6) = 21
Someone better get up here quick, in a few rounds I'm back to being a support caster, not a tank.
Is bless active? I remember it being cast but I'm not sure how long ago that was.
Joan the Hunter |
Attack PBS, FE: 1d20 + 8 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 8 + 2 + 1 = 26
Damage PBS FE: 1d8 + 3 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 2 + 1 = 7
Joan tsks as the shot doesn't go as deep as she had hoped.
Hon Semparatus |
Hon trying to inventory Kibs stuff, talks to Kib, "See? Fun stuff? Ya got anything useful. Gallack has yer wand bandoliers. Spear? Yeah Thats a throwable pointy thing. Not getting up close again. Headband? Sure. Do I look purty in it? Aahh Scrolls. Talk to me, what do these do... Please tell me you wrote in plain dwarf. Of course not. All squiggly lines that move. Nice. This might be a moment... He ignores the fight that just resumed up the stairs.
Yeah Hon knows it is a battle for life and death up there. He'll get there when he gets there. [/grumpy dwarf]
Move action to don Headband +2Ch. 5 scrolls to identify. I'll assume Kib did not manually scribe the purpose of scrolls. Probably go with UMD enough to identify purpose of scrolls. According to Kib's inv: 3 Identify and 2 Blind/deaf. Stopping when he comes to something useful.
Five attempts to ID scrolls: 1)UMD 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
2)UMD 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
3)UMD 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
4)UMD 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
5)UMD 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26
Chainmail |
Gallak chased the giant up the spiral staircase. After dropping the large frost giant, the giantess appeared with long hair streaming from a chain helmet and a large greatsword. The giantess is wearing a large chain shirt and has a horn slung on her side. As Nar and Joan approach, the giantess seems very angry. In the crowded stairwell it will be difficult to attack the giantess without someone suffering some sort of reprisal.
I will try to update giantess on map, but the 3-D is challenging.
