"That would take far too long, wouldn't it?" Tok asks, completely missing the jest. "No, I can handle myself if we need to take the roof path. Is tonight the night?"
Pollux interjects.
"Would there be digging? I mean the temple has to go somewhere if you follow me?"
Castor is sitting on the map either following the discussion of eating a spider leg, depending on your point of view.

Caldazar |

"Tok we could always try the direct approach, a sturdy length of timber shod in steel and barreled into the front door may very well gain us access... though if these Bastards are killers, I would prefer to neutralize them in small groups rather than have to face the lot of them at once."

TarkXT |

Arael shakes his head. "No. They're not ready. But we can't wait either. If you really need mine adn Janiven's assistance we can provide that but I won't risk the others more than necessary. A bunch of people with crossbows regardless of skill can get lucky. But, the BAstards are killers, we don;t want them in a pitched battle."

Meraxilar Zoon |

"Tok, it was agreed that we would be taking down the Bastards of Erebus, and that the Children were simply cutting off any escape route from a safe distance." Although pushing them into the fire first might have been a worthwhile diversion.
Merax smiles to himself as he picks up his equipment and gets ready to go.

GM_Todd |

"A dog running away in fear can be more fearsome than one caught unaware. The Children will still be in danger. But I don't want to delay us any longer. I'm not a tactician. Let us be off.
Tok moves to collect his simple belongings. As he is doing so, he motions for Mathalen to come near. "You are not prepared to do battle with someone looking to kill you," he says bluntly. "You show great promise and with time could become something great. Until then, only engage if given no alternative." Without waiting for a response, Tok turns to the others. "I am ready."

After some gathering of things and some minor preparation the group heads out towards the temple of Eraastil. Your gear is kept on a cart as to not arouse the curiosity of the Dottari. There is a short way but they decide the easiest, though longest, path is to go around. Tarvi and Mathalen are left behind while some of the brawnier, or simply hardest to get rid off Children tag along bringing crossbows to help give the group cover fire if necessary.
You carry no torches and are led by Tok Arael adn the other nonhuman members of thre group picking through the ruins and rubble of an older part of the city. On each side of you at all tiems you hear the scratchings and scramblings of various nocturnal animals going about their business. Though you are wary to the extreme of shadowbeasts, none accost you or even seem to be around.
A full, mad, moon is out, the type that portents of ill deeds and werewolves. This is a devil's night. You see the tiefling outlined against it. His horned form puts an interesting shadow against it. Of course, he isn't looking up at the moon. Once you get to the building closest to the temple without getting too close Arael taps Caldazar on the shoulder and hands him a clinking sack. "Here. Use them wisely."
With that Arael takes the other members of the group away to secure the area around the temple proper. Janiven looks to the rest of the group and whispers. "Right, who wants to scale the wall ehre so we can get on the roof?"

Meraxilar Zoon |

Merax looks up and judges the climb to be abit difficult in his armor without a grappling hook and rope. "I suggest someone less armored than I am. Possibly Tok or Caldazar. It would be best to use a grappling hook and rope, but we would need to take out the guard in the tower first. Perhaps if we all fire a crossbow bolt in unison, we can kill him before he can raise an alarm."
Assuming there is only the one guard in the tower.

Pollux |

How far away is the horned man blocking the moon from Pollux right now?? How far away is the tower from the wall? Is there a stair or gate leading onto the wall? Is the bell tower a separate structure or part of the temple? What is the bell tower made of?
Anyone who wants any of the pots, feel free to grab em.
Pollux snags a CLW. I really want to try the Shield of faith. Maybe Pollux can give a deity a headache.

1. Abouta hundred or so feet distance is difficult to judge in this darkness.
2. The wall in question is pretty far away. The tower from the roof of this building that no one has yet to scale is roughly the same distance but about 40ft from the ground up.
3. The bell tower is part of the temple.
4. Stone presumably. Right now it's just a black shadow that sticks up from the greater shadow of the temple. If it weren;t for the moon you would not see it at all.

"Sleep spell?" Mr. Ruttle replies, as he pockets a Cure Light Wounds potion, "I'm afraid I don't know that particular trick, Mr. Zoon. About all I'd be capable of at this distance is getting their door stuck, but that won't stop the bell from pealing."

Pollux |

Pollux stares upward. His attention split between the black blank of the wall and the glory of the moon.
"Could there not be another way up?" How could it get there without a way up?"
You are not sure if he is talking about the wall or the moon.
New personal goal for Pollux. Reach the moon!

Meraxilar Zoon |

Think Tark said 40' up, im guessing multiple DC 15 Climb checks (@1/4 speed, -5 on top of that if we opt for half speed accelerated climbing)?
Easier with a rope/grapple but the sound would alert the sentry
If we go with firing the volley of arrows/bolts first before the grappling hook (hoping to catch it flat-footed too) .....
Merax take careful aim with his light crossbow (range increment 80) and fires.
Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 4

TarkXT |

1d100 ⇒ 19
1d100 ⇒ 45
1d100 ⇒ 88
Meraxilar's shot goes wide caught by the shadows and swallowed up only a soft thunk can be heard and the tiefling jumps at the sudden sound. Following shortly behind he lets out a yelp as the other two find there mark and the tiefling falls to the ground trying to reach for the bell.
A little surprised by your luck Janiven pulls out her bow. "Right, well it's up to you now. I'll cover you as best I can from out here. Once you're inside; good luck."
With that she ehrself disappears into the shadows.

Caldazar |

If Tok's throw is successful:
Caldazar claps Tok on the shoulder nodding in recognition of a good throw. The then grips the rope, giving it a few hefty tugs to make sure it is solidly lodged before attempting ascent.
Taking 10 on Climb, which gives me a total of... 10. If I can't make it up with that, I think we need to start looking for another way in...

Sclivian stares at Janiven. He looks like he's about to speak, but stops, presses his fingers to his lips in thought, then mentions,
"Are you sure there isn't a secondary exit? It would be a shame if they escaped out a back way."
He heads up the rope after Caldazar and Meraxilar.
Taking 10 for a 9.
That was totally the wrong time for Janiven to pull out her bow, given her stated feelings about the Bastards of Erebus. Is she holding back, or is this just bad planning?
Sense Motive 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 31

Meraxilar Zoon |

The watchtower with the tiefling in it on the bastards HQ I believe.
Assuming there's a trapdoor in the floor leading up here....
Meraxilar listens at the trapdoor for sounds from below before attempting to open it slowly.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Edit*** or not. Thought the sentry/watchtower was part of the main building.

TarkXT |

It is. For the sake of "For the love of god I dont want to waste a whole week so you can fail getting across a rope" We'll say you are up at the tower.
Kicking the dead tiefling over there is no trapdoor but darkened steps leading into the temple proper. You here the faint sounds of laughter coming from down stairs. You can't make out individuals or numbers.

Caldazar |

Very kind of you Tark :)
Making sure that his buckler is tight on his arm and readying his morningstar Caldazar readies to descend. His face is flushed with both excitement and trepidation.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
Stealth: 1d20 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 - 2 = 15
