Welcome.

hi

this is keith

Though there are many people here, they clearly know each other.
(To Cadwr) Barkeep (male bear), "Welcome, Did you come for a room, the food, or both?"

It is loud, everyone is trying to out talk everyone else. Some, maybe, had a little to much to drink. Card and board games are going on at various tables.

Barkeep, "Well, for food we have a large chose. He points to the wall where there is a hand written list of food items. They do have a lot for a small town in a mountain valley. The food will cost you two silver coins. As for a room, it will cost you one silver coin."

Most of the patrons are boars and goats, with some wolves.

Do you stand at the bar, sit at a table with others or walk around?

I've come for food, a room, and maybe a bath

Food first if possible

(To Cadwr) Carnivores eat reptiles, who come in many sizes, from a two inch lizard to a dinosaur size reptile. There is also insects to be eaten. Along with fruits and vegetables. To drink, there is beer, wine, water, milk (there's a joke that went around about spider-milk.) and fruit juices.

These are your food and drink choses.

After you pay for your food, where do you go, the bar or table?

(To animal person) I'll go to a table it seems to be less crowded there

To Cadwr:
[Originally I want "NPC", but someone already had it. So "Animal Person" is my way of saying "NPC". The barkeep you are conversing with is a male bear.]

There is one table with three open seats, the fourth has a female white furred fox. You've seen the rare gray fox (nobility) and the more common red fox, but you've never seen a white fox before now. The table sets in a corner. The tavern is dimly lit.

As Cadwr approaches the table, the white fox says, "Welcome to Ferraburg."

Standing in the corner shadows, someone says, "A city of a thousand wonders."

To Cadwr:
Your night vision allows you to see a bat-person in the corner shadows.

(To karana) thanks what's this town like? Any good action for a swordsman?

(To valad) I've seen worse. Yourself not included (gesturing towards him)

(To Cadwr) "We're waiting for Morlean, he's going to give us a job."

As you stand there, you get a eerie feeling from Valad.
You also smell blood when he speaks.

(to karana) what kind of job? might it be open to any takers?

(To Cadwr) "He wants us to retrieve a suit of armor for him. Sure, the more the merrier."

"We meet with him here, out front, tomorrow morning."

Valad will sit in one of the empty seats at the table. (To Cadwr) "So where are you from? What brings you to this paradise?"

(To valad) my kin live to the north of here. We tend to be nomadic. We traveled around a lot. I seek to test my swords against any who is willing. The dance of steel is music to my soul.

(To everyone at the table) "I leave you to go eat."

(To Cadwr) "Now if you don't mind, I have a living to make." I get up and leave the table and go to the various groups of people.

(To Cadwr) As you sit there, there is a sudden crack of thunder in your ear! You turn to look and you see two rams butting heads - plug your ears - they're about to do it again!

What do you do?

Is there anyone else watching them

The first crack caught everyone by surprise. Some reacted with horrified shock while others are taking bets on who will win . The second crack, everyone took it more in stride.

You hear someone say, "Boys will be boys."

say out loud "10 cp on the smaller of the two"

There are no copper pieces, only the silver denarii and the rare gold aureals.

The smaller of the two rams wins. You collect your money. Someone buys both of the rams a drink.

Over the next few hours, the patrons thin out and you do not see Karana nor Valad anywhere. The atmosphere comes to a calm.

You bathe, you sleep...

Night time,
to some a brief interlude,
to others the fear of solitude.
Brave Helios wake up your steads,
bring the warmth the countryside needs.

In the morning, the inns common room is all but empty. You see Karana and Valad sitting and eating together. There are a few others.

You notice that every time you're around Valad, you get a eerie feeling. Nothing serious. Just spooky vibes. You also notice there is a smell of blood on his breath.

After you had time to eat, you hear two people enter with a cold wiff of air. A raccoon looks around then heads for the table followed by a lightly armored bear. They both have backpacks.

"Here you will need these. He hands everyone in the group a pair of boots. Put these on, they will help you climb the mountain. Grab your gear, let's get going." Says the raccoon. They go outside.

(To Cadwr) "In case you missed that, that was Morlean - all business."

put the boots on, grab what gear he has and follow them out

Yesterday I was having trouble with Paizo's message boards. The message above yours should be from "Karana".

While you hike up the mountain, Morlean informs everyone that he is looking for a suit armor. "You can have anything else you find. It will take another day, in that direction, to get there. We leave you here, come Jalla." Morlean and the bear turn back to Ferraburg.

You notice that Valad did not get a pair of boots from Morlean.

Cadwr:
While you set up camp, you notice that Valad has two pistols on a chest harness. The pistols are attached to cords, the cords are too long as they would allow the pistols to hit the ground, should they fall out of the harness.

Pistols come from the Bisclavret lands. This would make sense for a bat person to have pistols, as they are from the Repense in the Bisclavret lands.

***

You notice that Karana carries and extra bag. As she sets up her camp, she leaves it open after looking for something; you notice it is full of small wooden boxes, small glass bottles and small draw-string bags.

Cadwr talks like Valad does. The same pronunciation of words and the same turn-of-phrases. Which means Cadwr comes from the Bisclavret lands.

Over a shared dinner with Cadwr and Karana, Valad will ask Cadwr, "Something I have been pondering: Why is it lynxes can not fly?"

Karana will laugh then comment, "Tie two birds together, though they have four wings, they can not fly."

Everyone sleeps in their own tent.

Karana:
You hear wolves howling.

Cadwr:
You hear wolves howling.

Valad:
As you fly around, you see several wolves. They seem more animal than person.

In the morning, after your morning meal, you leave the tents and camping gear and get ready for your mountain climb.

It does not seem very far away. It takes all day for Cadwr and Karana to climb to the top. Where Valad flies up to meet with you.

The three of you follow a very narrow path to a cave entrance. You go in. The cavern is huge with ice pillars from floor to the ceiling. The ceiling is 30' above the floor. There are sparkly colored birds that flit to and fro.

(To the birds) "Here little birds. Come here. I'm not going to hurt you."

I will fly up and see what I can see.

(To Karana) A sparkly bird land on your finger. Stays a few seconds then flits away. Another bird lands on your finger, then flits away.

None of the sparkly birds go near Valad.

Valad:
Flying around, you notice the cavern is oblong with a 20' wide channel perfectly cut down the middle of the cavern. You also see two large holes in the cavern floor, one on each side of the channel.

Land by the group and tell them there is an opening in the floor over there. We should check it out.

There is light in the cavern, but there is no light source.

The channel is 20' wide and you can not see the bottom, it fade to darkness. It goes from one end to the other.

You check the hole out and it turns out to be stairs going down. Going down the stairs, you are at one end of a corridor. At the base of the stairs, there is a door. The light here is dim.

I will check to see if it is locked.
1d4 ⇒ 4
I will check to see if it is trapped.
1d4 ⇒ 2

The door is not locked nor trapped.

Karana will open the door.

Inside you see the walls explode with colors that form images. The images are that of a badger doing various things, from mundane to heroic adventures.

In the center of the room is a badger, in travelling gear, standing on his backpack holding a diamond high in the air.

As you get closer, you realize the badger is wearing the chest piece of the armor Morlean wants.

"Hello. What are you doing?"

"We are going to need the armor you are wearing."

He does not answer either of you.
He does not move.
